What a cute story to bring me out of my book funk.
Yes, this is your basic surprise baby story, but the characters made me fall in love and keep reading. There was just something about Ryan and Eve that I needed in this moment. They weren't flat names on a page.
It wasn't an earth shattering adventure. But it was fresh with an Alpha male (Ryan) who was a good guy and not an asshole. How refreshing. And Eve wasn't a love sick fool and had spunk to her.
I also really liked how the author brought the baby surprise up.
However, there were some small problems as well.
As an accountant, I thought the idea that Ryan, a CFO, would take evening hours, while the rest of the accounting staff would be in during the day. It made since for the story but not for the real world.
Then there was Eve's knowledge that the suit jacket Ryan had was Armani. Without seeing the tag, the author didn't give me a reason why Eve would know what the brand was over Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein or any other brand. Eve didn't grow up rich or have a previous rich boyfriend. Her idea of luxury was Everlane which is not a luxury brand like Armani. It's more like Coach or Dooney & Burke not Louis Vuitton or Gucci.
And what happened to Eve's apartment. Did I miss it? She left with a bottle of wine and her two dogs. How did she get the nightgown she took off that first night? Huge plot hole. She didn't leave with a packed bag. Further, I didn't remember her ever going back to get her things.
For those misses in the plot, I can't give it 5 stars. But I did really like the story. Also, this is my first book in the series and I didn't feel like I missed out in anyway this story having not read the others.
PS - I didn't read the blurb before reading. After reading, I would agree with others. It's a bit misleading. The timeline of the story doesn't match up to the way the blurb is worded. She didn't know she was pregnant when she took the job. Nor does her job hinge on keeping that fact a secret.

This is my second book by this author, and like the other book, I really enjoyed the author's light tone and ladies you can pull for. I read more stand-alone than category romance, but the short length fit the bill for my Saturday reading.
I really liked Eve and wanted her to be happy. I enjoyed reading about being a sommelier even though I don't particularly like wine. I didn't feel like I got to know much about Ryan's background, but that could have been touched upon in prior books in the series, but jumping in like I did, I don't know. With the short length of category romance, something has to give, and it seemed to be Ryan's feelings and how he'd recovered from his prior relationship. I didn't think we were skimped at all on their emotional journey as a couple though, as I was on board.
I'll keep watching for more of Ms. Wilson's books, as I haven't been disappointed yet.

This was a delight from start to finish - despite the fact that the cover and title are a big ol' honkin' spoiler (seriously Harlequin - the pregnancy doesn't come to light until we're at the 50% mark). Anyway, the author has a lovely romantic comedy-style voice and I loved the push/pull between the couple. They do have a tendency to make snap judgments, but there's past baggage to factor in and a heroine who is still reeling from her ex dumping her like a hot potato. There's talk of food and wine and I wanted to Drink. All. The. Wine. Part of series but stands alone well. My first read by this author, definitely not my last.

This book was so good! This was my first Harlequin Romance book and I can’t wait to read more! The romance was amazing and so sweet. This book felt like a Hallmark movie and that’s why I loved it so much!!

Generally speaking, I never give surprise babies/secret baby trope books a chance because I can't imagine anything less romantic for myself than an unplanned pregnancy. But this is TERI WILSON! And it is part of a series I've been devouring! And seriously, how many FBI romantic suspense books have I read- I wouldn't want to be chased by a demented criminal to fall in love either.
SO! Taking a risk, reading outside my comfort zone, and being rewarded for it is lovely. The hero and heroine both have their wounds which cause them to have an out of character one night stand. Much of the romance takes place before they even realize the consequence of their actions- so they have time to work on each other's walls before they get kicked down unceremoniously by pregnancy. The heroine is studying to be a sommelier which I found fascinating. Not a lot of books with a heroine sommelier! I didn't know anything about the job, and now I'm looking at fancy wine openings on youtube...
The hero has a tortured past, perhaps more tortured than the heroine's. But he desperately wants a family, and a partner. He is also drop dead gorgeous, and rich, because why not? This is a fairy tale so far beyond the scope of my life, but that's what made it so fun!

A very enjoyable contemporary romance. Evangeline Holly has just left an unsatisfying relationship. In response she has a one-night-stand with Ryan Wilde. Later, she is hired as a sommelier for the Wilde family hotel. And, of course, a pregnancy complicates the situation.
This was a cute story and fun to read. My only complaint was that the characters' points of view was a little sloppy. A couple of times I was sure that I was in one character's POV and then there was a part of the other one. It was a little disconcerting.

I really love a surprise baby trope as well as a one-night-stand-turn-up-to-your-new-job-to-discover-you-have-already-slept-with-your-new-boss trope. So icky in real life, so absurdly compelling in fiction. This is my first Teri Wilson book and I enjoyed her writing style. Elderly dogs, NYC setting, fun inner monologue.

Such a cute and charming story! It's the type of book where you can zip through it quickly, and I definitely see why it won a RITA (congratulations, Teri, again!). I LOVED Grandpa Bob, Olive, and Bee! Wine lovers, you'll adore this one.

A really sweet romance!
I liked this book! It was cute and interesting. I liked Ryan and Evangeline and the relationship they build. There wasn't too much angst and the conflict didn't drag on too long. They were mature in their thinking and time together in dealing with the pregnancy. Very good! I'm interested in reading more books by this author. Mostly because I am interested in the backstories/romances of some of the other characters from this book.
There are a couple mildly descriptive sexual scenes but nothing too graphic.

The book starts with Evangeline Holly walking up with the previous night's 1NS in her bed. His name is Ryan and he's handsome and the sex was great, but 3 days ago she had a bad break-up and this is no time for a new man. She worked for her ex, so now she has to find a new job & a hide her grandfather's dogs in an apartment where she's not to have pets. She kicks Ryan out, but 6 weeks later, she goes for an sommelier interview at his hotel's restaurant and is hired. 2 weeks later, Ryan figures out she's pregnant with his baby which is convenient since he always wanted a family. The blurb makes it sounds like a secret baby romance, but it's not.
PLUSES: It's well written. There's nothing wrong with it. They both seem nice.
WISHES: The reason they hire Evangeline is bc the hotel/restaurant is trying to land coveted Michelin stars. But... those are awarded for food, and the chef is never mentioned. So the idea that Evangeline and her magical wine skills are the key to that is just weird. One thing that really stuck out was the whole subplot about how Ryan was named one of NY's most eligible bachelors. In the book, women camp out in his office lobby all day hoping to meet him. I hated that and the way that *those women* were desperate gold diggers was kinda gross. Also, there is another subplot where he was almost trapped by an old girlfriend who claimed the baby was his. Meanwhile, Evangeline is just a GIVER. She takes care of her grandfather's dogs, she sacrifices the last bottle of wine from her family's vineyard to get those stars.
Verdict: Uncomfortable gender essentialism. The idea that the sommelier secured 3 Michelin stars instead of the chef seemed wrong. Mostly bland and boring, with wine receiving more passionate description than feelings or their relationship. Also, she’s just pregnant in the book, so big side eye to this cover.

Good storyline about Evangeline Holly and Ryan Wilde. It was interesting to learn about the generations of the Holly Family's Vineyard ... and Evangeline's goal and what needs to be done in achieving of a certified sommelier.
Enjoyed meeting her grandfather ... & his two dogs who Evangeline was taking care of while he was no able to house them.

A brief warning first, I have read several of Teri Wilson's books, and they were all closed-door romances. This book is not. Honestly, the characters spent the first third of the book too busy lusting after each other for the story to really move. The later part of the book was much better, dealing with overcoming their past traumas to reach a healthy relationship. But it felt rushed.

Got this at the little free library on a whim because the title amused me. It was surprisingly good. The story wasn't very long, but it was cute and sexy. Enjoyed very much.

I am torn to rate this book 3 stars when I feel it should only be a 2 star. The characters were not fully developed as I would have liked, rather The were barely surface level. The plot of the story on the back gave quite a bit of the story line away. It was almost half way through when the secret was out and it was not a secret she had to keep as it was the boss whom told her. Over all disappointed in this book. Seeing the other books the author wrote this one is subpar.
