David "Dav" Pilkey (b. March 4, 1966), is a popular children's author and artist. Pilkey is best known as the author and illustrator of the Captain Underpants book series. He lives near Seattle, Washington with his wife, Sayuri.

واحدة من أشهر وأنجح سلاسل الكتب المصورة للأطفال في السنوات الخمس الأخيرة.

في المكتبة المدرسية التي أعمل بها، نقتني من تلك السلسلة ما يقرب من اثنى عشر نسخة. وطوال العام الدراسي، يندر ان تستقر نسخة واحدة على الرف المخصص لها أكثر من ساعاتان.
هوس الأطفال بها لا يماثله سوى هوسهم بسلسلة

والتي كنت أتابعها بانتظام واحببتها رغم تحفظاتي الكثيرة عليها.
لظني أنها مجرد "موضة" رائجة وشوية شخبطة طفولية مستهلكة، لم أتحمس لقراءتها. وبالصدفة وقعت في يدي وقلت اما اجرب واقرا.

فكرة السلسلة قائمة على تداخل حكايات عديدة. فهناك الحكاية الأساسية التي قامت عليها السلسلة وهى الكلب والشرطي اللذان يتبادلا العقل والجسد بعد حادثة-فيلم اللي بالي بالك يعني 🤣-وتكون النتيجة هو "سوبر دوج" البطل الخارق الذي يقوم ببطولات انقاذ في كل كتاب من كتب السلسلة.

والحكاية الفرعية في كل كتاب من كتب السلسلة هى معالجة جديدة لرواية من روايات الأدب الكلاسيكي مثل قصة مدينتين والجريمة والعقاب ومرتفعات وذرنج ولمن تدق الأجراس وأخيرا رواية ملك الذباب وهى الحكاية الفرعية لتلك الكتاب.
حاولت قراءة ملك الذباب أربع مرات تقريبا بالعربية والإنجليزية وفشلت. لم انجذب لها ابدا.

وفي تلك الكتاب يمزج "دايف بيلكي" المؤلف الشهير الذي عاني في طفولته من اضطراب فرط الحركة، بعبقرية وخفة ظل بين احداث رواية ملك الذباب وبين الاحداث المختلقة لابطال سلسلته "دوج مان الطيب وكات كيد الشرير".
أحداث مجنونة وحوار كوميدي و"تهييس" أحبه لا يخرج إلا من عقل مؤلف مجنون و"لاسع" مثل دايف بيلكي. ضحكت من قلبي كما لم اضحك منذ زمن.

اتعجب من افتتان الصغار بها وانا ارى ان بها "نوع من النضج" في المعالجة-أو على الأقل من لديه فكرة عن الرواية الكلاسيكية التي بُنيت عليها القصة الجديدة-لا يفهمه الا من تخطى الثانية عشرة من عمره على الأقل.
عندما أصل لعملي يوم الأحد إن شاء الله ساتأكد من توصية زملائي بحفظ أي جزء من السلسلة بعد رجوعه للمكتبة. ده انا حتى أولى من العيال 🤣🤣🤣

Don't you dare put this in your (class) library without reading it first. Don't get stuck on the knock-knock jokes thinking they are ridiculous childish humor until you see what Pilkey does with them as a plot device. Think hard about the message he gives about a bad character wanting to change. And if you don't tear up when you read p. 216-223, then you just don't even have a heart.

Dav Pilkey is flat out brilliant. I've believed that since the first Captain Underpants books, and I'm not changing my story even though he made me cry at NERD camp.

Petey disguises himself as the Kitty protective services to lure Li'l Petey out of the Dog Man's house. Petey tells him that the real reason for him to get Li'l Petey out of town is because some bad guys are coming to get Li'l Petey. Petey ends up saving the day and everyone from those bad guys. Is Petey the good guy now? I don't know we'll see.

This was pretty good but I have to say it isn't my favorite in the series. Again Petey is just the best.

Love, love, love the Dog Man series!! Dav Pilkey, please don't stop writing these. This series is the biggest hit in my elementary library. With multiple copies of each book, I still can't keep them on the shelves and I always have a huge holds lists. I even have students creating their own Dog Man books. This latest episode, Lord of the Fleas, is my favorite one yet. Lots of laughs and a few "awww" moments. Looking forward as always to the next book. The students will be super excited to know that I have this one now.

Not many graphic novels have better captured kids' imagination than Dog Man, and the story returns here for a fifth episode, partly inspired by William Golding's classic novel Lord of the Flies. Dog Man, Li'L Petey, and 80-HD the robot are finally free to relax without megalomaniacal villains interfering in their lives. But just as they settle in to enjoy that rest, a representative from Kitty Protective Services rings the doorbell of Dog Man's doghouse and insists Li'L Petey start attending school immediately. It's his best disguise yet—I was fooled—but Li'L Petey easily recognizes his "papa", and Petey spirits his young clone away to tell him crucial information that will determine the direction of the rest of this book.

Before his latest escape from Cat Jail, Petey explains, he had a session with Dr. Katz, prison psychiatrist. Petey told Dr. Katz why he went bad as a kid, after a miniature golf outing with his friends Crunky the ape, Bub the crocodile, and Piggy, as part of Critter Scouts. Petey's friends got out of control when the scoutmaster was temporarily away, and they blamed Petey for their shenanigans. The experience warped Petey's view of justice and the rewards of decency, but did worse to Crunky, Bub, and Piggy. Obsessed with resenting Petey, the trio now returns for retribution, but they know better than to attack him directly. Piggy's plan is to harm Li'L Petey as proxy, and Petey refuses to allow that. Desperate to foil the plot, he broke out of Cat Jail and snatched his clone before the delinquent Critter Scouts could reach him. Both Peteys are on the run, but how long can they avoid their enemies?

Dog Man flies into action when Crunky, Bub, and Piggy's criminal mischief in town appears on the television news. Dog Man (aka the Bark Knight) and 80-HD (Lightning Dude) don their crime-fighting costumes and speed to the scene, where Petey and his clone are fighting the villains. Petey has no love of justice for its own sake, but he'll battle anyone to protect Li'L Petey. The kitten has called him "Papa" since his creation, but is Petey starting to show paternal instinct for his goodhearted "son"? Only Petey's cutting-edge crime technology is sufficient to counteract Piggy's, and they wage war for multiple chapters without resolution. Piggy tries to convince Petey to join forces so they can commit crime as a team, but Petey has a higher loyalty now as a parent. This is major progress for Petey and his son, who always held out hope his papa could change, but it's Dog Man who ultimately must save the day in the outsized style he's famous for. But what is Petey's fate after it's all over? Can a regenerated outlook on life erase his past sins?

The first five Dog Man graphic novels are a mixture of puerile comedy and deep themes, the latter usually drawn from a classic book or author. That combination of the silly and the sublime means there's something in these books for readers of every age and sophistication level. One could say the Dog Man novels grow up with you. I might rate Lord of the Fleas two and a half stars, and I'm excited to see where Dav Pilkey takes the story in the next installment, Brawl of the Wild. If he's able to do Jack London's concepts justice, it could be the finest Dog Man yet.

I loved this book so much. This is the best DogMan book that I have read so far (I've read all of them so far). Anyways I loved this book so much. One of the main reasons I did is because Petey got a bigger role and you got to know him better. Anyways Petey the Cat does usually have a pretty big role being the main villain and stuff but in this book it was kinda like he was the main character besides Cat Kid (I'm OK with that). It also got to show people that he was kinda enemies kinda friends growing up to become villains maybe greater than he was. Anyways this was a great book that I recommend to Dogman fans.

Oh wow, if the other books just got me choked up a little, this is the volume that really hit me hard emotionally. It’s quite surprising how well structured and meaningful a comic with poop jokes aimed at children can be. Dog Man is go!!

This book was pretty good.

As always, the illustrations are beautiful and have some wonderful features added to the designs of the characters.

But, as always, there's also the emotion.

The emotions evoked from the book are simply heart-warming. I really enjoyed 'Lil Petey in this one; he's adorable and him and Petey are so cute together.

Overall: good book.
