Zerknąłem na zegar. Chciałem żeby wujek Ben już tu był. Nagle usłyszałem kroki. Nasłuchiwałem, wpatrując się w drzwi. W słabym świetle dostrzegłem, że klamka się porusza. "Dziwne - pomyślałem - wujek Ben najpierw by zapukał". Klamka poruszyła się znowu. Drzwi zaczęły uchylać się ze skrzypieniem. Otwierały się powolutku, a ja zamarłem na środku salonu. Wysoka, ciemna postać sztywno ruszyła w moim kierunku, wyciągając ramiona. Przez dziury w starych bandażach wpatrywały się we mnie ciemne oczy...
Znikamy!
Nie wiem, jak długo siedziałam przed lustrem, wpatrując się w swoje odbicie. W pewnej chwili zauważyłem, że dzieje się z nim coś dziwnego. I wtedy usłyszałem szept. Był tak miękki i cichy, że trudno go nawet nazwać szeptem. Już raczej echem szeptu.
- Maaaax...
Szept stał się głośniejszy. I niewymownie smutny.
Jak błaganie o ratunek...
