Jeanne C. Stein is an American Urban Fantasy author living in Colorado. She now lives in Colorado, but was raised and educated in San Diego, which is the setting for her contemporary vampire fantasy.

Jeanne is active in the writing community, belonging to Sisters in Crime both nationally and in San Diego and Los Angeles. She also belongs to Horror Writers of America, RWA and Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers. She was named RMFW’s Writer of the Year for 2008 an honor given to a writer who has contributed to the organization as well as achieved success in publication.

Blood Debt (Anna Strong Chronicles series #6.5) by Jeanne C. Stein (rating: 3/5, 25Sep2019) is about a bounty hunter who has been turned into a vampire in the past year. She finds she has unwittingly committed a crime against a sanctuary plane of existence and has been called to trial as a result. She killed a murderous evil witch who had fled here from our plane. Apparently evil beings are entitled to sanctuary as well as good beings. We get some background on her along with her defense. I doubt I will spend more time with the series.

Well-drawn characters. Decent writing and pretty good plot.
