"Is it safe to say you're out of ideas? Well done, gentlemen. This delightful and lengthy scene can finally come to an end. Let's end it. Let's end everything." [Szayelaporro]
It's the first and the last time I will ever agree with Szayelaporro. It was about time to end everything. But, to Szayelaporro's misfortune, nothing ended how the enemy's side had intended.
Volume 34 starts the moment the previous volume had ended - in the middle of the Nelliel vs Nnoitra fight. Nelliel is about to transform into her Resurrection form, and, despite Nnoitra's desperate attempt to stop her, she succeeds. It seems like Nnoitra is at a disadvantage. The last blow can happen anytime. But then the battle gets a unexpected turn, because Nelliel transforms back into a child. This gives Nnoitra the position of the power back and thereby, the heroes are back into being in danger.
"Give it up. Nelliel was your last ray of hope. It's all over now. This is the end for all of you." [Nnoitra]
When an overjoyed Nnoitra attacks Nel, Ichigo, without wasting any time to think about his injures or the consequences of his actions, throws himself in front of him trying to protect her. But he's too weak to do anything else. When Nnoitra's minion, Tesla, steps in, Ichigo's situation becomes even worse. The battle becomes a torture session. With Orihime restrained by Nnoitra and Nel being a helpless child again, there is no one that can rescue Ichigo. Or so it seems like... To avoid spoilers, all I can say is that Nnoitra finds his true match in the battle ;)
"Please don't quarrel in front of me. It's unseemly. Then... let me ask you again. Who are... No. Never mind. You're just a couple of insects for me to crush. Your names aren't important."
"Is that so? Well, actually... I do need to know your name."
"Why is that?"
"Why? Isn't it obvious? I need to know how to label the specimen jar I put you in."
We're coming back to the Ishida and Renji vs Szayelaporro fight. Both Ishida and Renji are down with awful injuries, no longer able to fight. But hope is not lost yet - it's time for Pesche and Dondochakka to step into the fight and show their true abilities. And they truly show what they can do! The reader could easily mistake those two as the goofball characters who's only job was to make jokes in every scene they were in. But that was not the case. With Nel's true identity revealed in the previous volume, Pesche's and Dondochakka's identities are also out. And while Nel's fighting, they decide to fight too.
You might think that all they will do is save some time for the real heroes to recover and step back into the battle. But both Renji and Ishida are truly down. There is no miracle that will suddenly heal their injures and they will be able to fight again. It truly seems like Pesche and Dondochakka are the last hope. The two Arrancars are giving a surprisingly hard time to Szayelaporro. Both are impressive with their skills and their creativity. There was truly a chance for them to win this fight. But Szayelaporro had already analyzed their abilities and was ready for their attacks, just like he was ready for Ishida's and Renji's ones. With Pesche and Dondochakka down, and both Renji and Ishida down, it seems like this is the end. The enemy had won. But then an unexpected ally comes to save the day. The battle of the tricksters begins.
"Arrogant? I? What makes you think so? You're a Soul Reaper of the captain-class. I concluded that we were of the same class and behaved accordingly. There was no arrogance on my part."
"For an Arrancar to think he's in the same class as me that is the height of arrogance."
After the battle between Rukia and Aaroniero, the enemy's dead, but Rukia's not. This is the moment when we meet another Espada member, Zoomari, who came to finish the job. Rukia is lying helplessly on the floor, so she's an incredibly easy target. But just as Zoomari's sword is supposed to reach her, something stops it. Who could it be, if all Rukia's friends are occupied? Is it an ally or another enemy? The answer is in the volume, and in this quote:
"What makes you think I'm acting as a Soul Reaper? I'm going to slay you because you aimed your blade at my pride."
Well? Do you know who is it? ;)
Anyways, on the end of the volume only one is still not settled. Nnoitra is still standing and still being a threat. Will he win or will he lose? Will our heroes come out of Hueco Mundo alive? We will see in the next volume! ☺️
Some of my thoughts while reading: (beware of the spoilers!)
~ Szayelaporro's face expression when Pesche was pulling out his sword (out of a very surprising place, I might say) was priceless 😂
~ I really love the Pesche and Dondochakka attack on Szayelaporro. They are truly strong for goofballs!
~ The fact that Ichigo, with all his injures and basically without any strength and any chance to stand against the enemy, threw himself in front of Nel trying to protect her is just so like Ichigo, it made me want to cry.
~ Tesla's tortures on Ichigo were incredibly painful to see. They were much more brutal in the manga, but much more harder to witness in the anime where I had to hear Ichigo's screams 😭
~ Because of all the torture, I didn't feel sorry for Tesla in the slightest when his final moments came. Btw, for the life of me I cannot figure out if Nnoitra actually cared for Tesla or not. He was ready to kill him for his intervention earlier, but now he screamed a warning to him when Tesla stepped into a fight he couldn't win.
~ It was painful to see Ichigo being so helpless. He could have been so easily squashed, like a fly 😥
~ Did I say that Nelliel is cool? Because she's cool! ☺️
~ Why did Nnoitra had to shut Orihime up by puting his fingers in her mouth?! Was it really necessary?!
~ The scene of Kenny kicking Ichigo away was so funny 😂 I should've been mad, because Ichigo was hurt, but I cannot blame Kenny for what he had done. Ichigo was in the way, he could've been hurt even more or even killed if he stayed where he was. Btw, I cannot imagine Kenny carrying Ichigo like a bride to carefully put him in another place, it's just so not Kenny thing to do 😆
~ The fact that the Soul Reapers had planned everything, just didn't tell Ichigo about it, makes me both mad and happy.
~ The constant cut between the captains scenes were kind of confusing to me, I was a little bit struggling, but luckily it didn't took very long and all was fine again.
~ Byakuya was ruthless for cutting out his own limbs. It was incredibly impressive in the anime as well as in the manga. And the fact that he had threw himself in front of Rukia to protect her?? I had trouble with his character in the Soul Society arc (for obvious reasons), but scenes like this made me change my mind. He seems cold, but he deeply cares about Rukia.
~ Senbonzakura Kageyoshi is one of the most beautiful (if not the most beautiful) Bankai's. Breathtaking.
~ I was so happy to see Hanataro again, but not in this kind of circumstances! My poor baby! 😥
~ Mayuri's doll was so cute!! The real Mayuri not so much. In the contrary, he seemed much more creepy than usual.
~ Nemu's "death" scene was SICK, TWISTED and TERRIFYING! YUCK! Such brutal details! It wasn't what anime had shown! I was NOT ready!
~ Ichigo saying to Orihime to heal Nel first 🥹
~ Szayelaporro being so proud of his "perfect life-form", while totally ignoring the fact that he was actually just a disgusting parasite. Yuck.
~ I was never a fan of the Ishida and Renji vs Szayelaporro fight, but I like the moment Mayuri stepped in. I hate both Szayel and Mayuri, but their battle was impressive. They both had their own tricks in the sleeve and didn't want to back down, no matter what. Both are creepy and crazy. But only one could win and I'm glad that it was Mayuri. And I'm glad that Szayel got what he deserved.

Its a great volume as we see the captains come to the rescue and they fight these things and beings and first is Byakuya vs Lenoux and that battle is intense, he uses some eye thingamagick and so to defeat him Byakuya uses extreme measures but when it seems he will lose, he unleashes his Senbon Zakura and its a sight to behold when he defeats it and then we have Mayurifight Granz and its the battle of the mad scientists, during all their battle he was playing with him to test his abilities and when he defeats him, its twisted and evil but clever. And Kenpachi vs Nnoitra next! Its a good volume with good moments and epic semblance to what a fight should be! The art was fantastic and the pace was good too!!

Such a good volume! I honestly had no idea how Ichigo and the others were gonna get out of this one, but they found a way with help from some Soul Society Captains! This volume focused more on Byakuya and Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s fight with the Espadas. It was awesome seeing them fight what kinda seemed like an Espada version of them. Mayuri’s battle was especially interesting including the way he beat him and I’m still trying to figure out what he did. I can’t wait to see Kenpachi’s fight in the next one.

Arrancar: Hueco Mundo arc

me after reading this arc: i'm so fluent in spanish
(I didn't pick the first volume of this arc to save in my read books because I love Nel so much and I missed her so she got the spot)
Half the Arrancars are weird and ugly so it was sure amazing to see them being DESTROYED by my kids. That said, the other half are too pretty to be this evil... Grimmjow I'm looking at you.
Also Ulquiorra's last chapter definitely made me like,,,, cry. My solitary baby vampire-like hollow... you will be missed.
Rukia's part was probably the saddest though... my love needs some rest (she doesn't even get that many scenes???? ((which is a crime!)) and yet they're all heartbreaking).
Also, Nel. I love her.

Despite Nel's "huge" reveal, the volume is a huge plot twist that shifts the playground in a relatively predictable way. The latest interference sort of kills the whole "power" game, digging a huge gap between enemies that sort of came out of the blue.
Nonetheless, the latest fights are interesting and visually fun. And I think that's what mangaka Tite Kubo excels at best nowadays.

Okay, so in this volume Nel uses her release state. During battle, she ends up reverting back to her child state. Her body couldn't handle the power yet. Nnoitora kicks her away pretty much. Leaving her out of the battle. Tesla, Nnoitora's fraccione, releases his zanpakuto. He about kills Ichigo and then Kenpachi shows up just in the nick of time to save Ichigo.
Byakuya Kuchiki also arrives in time to save Rukia. She was about to be killed by Zommari Rureaux. He wants to know who did that to his little sister. Zommari tells him, that he's dead already. Zommari doesn't like Byakuya's attitude. He won't tell him his name. He calls him arrogant. He calls him a nameless captain as well because Byakuya won't reveal his name. Zommari releases his zanpakuto. His body has a whole bunch of eyes on him. He uses a move he calls Amor. When he looks at a body part, he is able to control it. Byakuya cuts every part that Zommari tried to control. Zommari then takes control of Rukia, making her put her zanpakuto to her throat. Byakuya uses a hado to keep Rukia still. Byakuya now goes into bankai mode. He cuts up his whole body. Zommari tells him he's still arrogant because soul reapers kill hollows. Byakuya destroys him because he tried to hurt his pride.
Oh, boy, Mayuri shows up to save Renji and Uryu...*sigh* Mayuri Kurotsuchi is a creepy scientist, then again, he is the head of the research and development department. He fights against Szayelaporro. Szayelaporro tries to destroy his organs, but it's not working against him. He made dummy organs. He had been watching the fight because of Uryu. He had implanted some baceteria to record him. He releases his bankai. His zanpakuto eats Szayelaporro. Szayelaporro tries to use Nemu to come back and Kurotsuchi's zanpakuto. His zanpakuto self destructs. Szayelaporro ingests a drug that makes him super human within Nemu's body. Time moves in slow motion for him. Kurotsuchi stabs him with his sword. Now, it's going to be years before he is actually stabbed with the sword.
This volume was intense. XD

Wow this volume was great!! And when things start to look bad, the captains come in for some fun too!
It's really cool to see Ichigo and gang struggle against the Captain's abilities during the Soul Society arc, but now that they are on the same side you can wonder: "How in the world did they manage to survive THAT before?"
Zaraki meets up with Ichigo and takes his place to fight Nnoitora, Kurotsuchi fights Szayelaporro, Unohana comes to heal, and Byakuya fights the man who was about to kill Rukia, (didn't catch his name).
Of course they all brought their buddies too, and everyone brought their Assistant Captains except Byakuya, who brought Hanatarô. Ah, I missed Hanatarô. :3
Pesche takes a sword from his pants, (and he doesn't even have pants, so don't think about that for too long), and Dondochakka throws his 'sword' up too, but it looks more like a club.
They ended up going into the 'pass out society' along with Nel, who turned back into a child. I started laughing so hard when she popped back into a child! It was just so funny how sudden it was!
What was up with Nnoitora putting his fingers in Orihime's mouth? That's just nasty, and he was asking to get bit, (even though Orihime never bit him).
Grimmjow's body is lying around somewhere I bet, but he hasn't even been mentioned. :/
Kurotsuchi is quite the creepy captain. Injecting things into people's bodies in preparation for battle? Poisoning everyone? Dang, I'm glad this guy is on our side now. I could tell he was a little bit upset when Nemu like, withered away, but he probably can just 'remake' her easily. *Shudders*. Creepy but true. It's also seems like a very horrible way to die, the way Szayelaporro did. In total slow motion, not understanding any of your enemies words and therefore not understanding what is happening to you? And then suffering for the next hundred years? Agh so creepy. That is a GREAT word for Kurotsuchi; Creepy. And merciless, and calculating, and freaky...

Resurrección Nelliel było unexpected, szkoda, że ostatecznie nie było za długo w akcji. Chciałabym zobaczyć jak galopuje xD

This volume was better.
We got the captains joining the fight and let's be honest, they atleast bring up a "will they won't they survive" cause Kubo is too scared to kill off any actual main character.
Saying that, I did enjoy the fights here. High energy, cool "you missed" moments. Lots of funny moments which worked well. I thought the main cover girl, already forgot her name, was a fucking waste of a character though. Like she blew up, got big boobs, then out in a second.
But yeah, at this point Bleach can't seem to recapture the magic it had but least this volume was more entertaining than the last two.

Byakuya is so ridiculously cold. I did not have him down as becoming one of my favourite captain's when I started reading the manga but here we are. This volume gets a 5 because not only did Byakuya have an incredible fight but Mayura did too. Mayura is arguably one of the most interesting aspects of bleach, a captain who looks like a villain acts like a villain half the time and talks like one, but his mad scientist gimmick is so interesting, the ability he used here to defeat his opponent was outrageously creative by Kubo. Two top level fights, amazing volume.

Bleach, Vol. 34 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (296–305) of the on-going manga series.
When Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck attempts to finish off Nnoitra Gilga, she transforms back into her child form. Ichigo Kurosaki tries to help Nel, but almost killed by Tesla Lindocruz when Kenpachi Zaraki intervenes. Telling Ichigo not to interfere in his fight against Nnoitora, Kenpachi reveals that Kisuke Urahara made the entrance into Hueco Mundo stable enough for the captains to enter.
Retsu Unohana saves Yasutora "Chad" Sado and Gantenbainne Mosqueda from the Exequias. Byakuya Kuchiki reaches Rukia Kuchiki as she was about to be killed by Séptima Espada Zommari Rureaux, who he kills when the Espada whose Rukia's body like a puppet to fight him. Renji Abarai, Uryū Ishida and Nel's Fracciones are saved by Mayuri Kurotsuchi, who stops Szayel Aporro Grantz's techniques.
Mayuri initially seems unable to fight back against Szayel Aporro, but he reveals that he placed a bacterium in Uryū that allow him to learn of the voodoo dolls and counter them. Mayuri then activates his Bankai and has it swallow Szayel Aporro. Though Szayel Aporro resurrects himself by absorbing Nemu Kurotsuchi's spiritual particles and through his technique turns Mayuri's bankai against him.
However, Szayel Aporro learns too late that he ingested a "superhuman" drug inside Nemu's body that increases his senses to the point where his body cannot respond to the overstimulation, leaving him at Mayuri's mercy as he stabs the immobilizes Espada in the heart.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. The incursion into Hueco Mundo is going too well as Ichigo Kurosaki and his team is at death’s door, when the Soul Reapers arrive: Kenpachi Zaraki, Retsu Unohana, and Byakuya Kuchiki arrive just in the nick of time to save the team. It seem that their incursion is turning around.
All in all, Bleach, Vol. 34 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.

Manga Monday Craziness! Every good issue.
Summary:
Nel transforms and deals a terrible blow to the espada. When she goes to make sure he is down she tranforms back into a child. The espada laughs and tells his goon to take care of Ichego. Meanwhile Chad and Rukia are about to be killed by other arrancars. Right when it looks hopeless for ichego Kenpachi shows up. Byakuya, Captain Unohana(of the fourth) and captain of the 12th. Byakuya fights the espada. Hanatoro shows up. Byakuya does his 10000 cherry blossums and its too much for the espada. The captain of the 12th company fights and defeats the hollow fighting renji and Uryu.

I really enjoyed this volume and that's a problem.
Given that it was teased in Volume 33, it's not really a spoiler to say that the Soul Society intervenes to help Ichigo and his crew in their fight against the Espadas.
And their involvement brings joy and fun back to the book. They have real personalities and foibles and the Espadas are all the paler by comparison. There's no agenda for the Espadas; they're just flat villains with quirky abilities.
So yes, I'm glad that the Captains are back and bring their own fun and conflict to Bleach, but it reveals just how much this arc has gone wrong.

I don't usually hand out five star ratings to volumes of BLEACH but this one deserves it. Kubo manages to balance the different fights running concurrently with relative ease, and no battle is short-changed. The Byakuya vs Zommari fight is especially brilliant as is Renji/Uryuu/Mayuri vs Nnoitora (although it gets a bit gross near the end of the volume). It seems like things will really be moving ahead in the next volume - perhaps out of Hueco Mundo even? One can hope.

Given that Manga, and especially Shonen is split up into bigger arcs as composed to volumes I will be analyzing and reviewing this by Arc. I also reread this manga over the span of 2 months, some days reading as much as 100 chapters a day. It would be quite tedious for me to review each 7-8 chapter volume. So this will be copy and pasted throughout all of the 72 manga volumes. That being said, if you're looking at this without having viewed the series...spoiler warning. I don't recap anything, but I also mention things that happen. If you want me to answer the question "Should I pick this up?" Yes. Even if you stop at the end of the Soul Society Arc. It's worth it.
Karakura Town Arc - Chapters 1-56 - Rating: 7/10
(The official page lumps this in with the Soul Society Arc however I feel as if they are two very separate arcs with two very separate themes)
- A fun introduction.
-An interesting premise on the idea of ghosts and demons (Hollows)
-Does a good job of introducing the characters and I especially enjoyed the love for characters like Chad, Orihime and Uryu as these characters would later lose more and more spotlight as the series went on.
-It is a bit of a monster of the week. When it works, like with Chad's introduction story. It works. But Characters like Don Kanonji felt superficial and very gimmicky. Which, fair. I didn't enjoy them as much.
Soul Society Arc - Chapters 57-182 - Rating: 10/10
-The height of Bleach
-Establishes an afterlife seemingly perfectly. Later on revealed to be full of plot holes and never fleshed out but hey! That's not an issue in THIS arc. The fights are top tier, the themes of Ichigo owing a life debt to Rukia and his passion and determination to rise above literally God's army is inspiring and to this day is why I love Ichigo so much. He doesn't have some grandiose plan. He doesn't have a major goal to accomplish. He is a protector by heart, losing his mother has made him sour to failing to protect those he cares about and he'll do anything in his power never to feel that helpless again. Very powerful stuff.
-The twist near the end of this arc is revolutionary and would make waves for the next 200 chapters onward. A perfect ending and set up for the forthcoming arc.
-The only issues I have for this arc would be Ichigo's lightning speed progression. The guy goes from being able to barely defeat a third seat to besting multiple captains in roughly 100 or less chapters. I get that that is the point and him defeating captains was more of a struck of luck, but progression and pacing wise it feels very unearned and a factor of "for the plot he needed to be this strong" It only seems as fast as it is because Ichigo's progression slows drastically down for the rest of the story moving foreword so it's only now that I make that criticism.
-Also, and this will be an issue in most Shonen. There are 13 Captains with 13 Vice Captains and seats that branch all the way to 10 I believe? Regardless, there's a fudge ton of characters that are introduced here and it can get a little jarring at times. Luckily, Kubo does a great job at making their designs and characters unique despite such a large cast.
Hueco Mundo Arc - Chapters 183-423 - Rating 7/10
-This is another arc where personally I would split it up into two separate arcs. But for the sake of this review I will simply refer to the first half of the arc and the later half of the arc. First Half 9/10. Second Half. 5/10.
-The first half of this arc is a great continuation of the last. Ichigo now struggles with his inner demons and it affects his ability to protect the ones he loves. We are also introduced to a deadly unknown new villains. The Arrancars/Espada to this day remain one of my favorite villain factions in all of manga enemies.
-Just so you're aware I would say the first half of this arc ends right around the point of Ichigo vs Grimmjow. Grimmjow is one of the first Arrancar that Ichigo faces. And he's also one of two Espada that he faces three times. The conclusion of that fight shows Ichigo conquering his inner demons. Where Grimmjow is very much fighting to establish himself. Grimmjow has to fight Ichigo to prove to his fallen comrades that he is as good as he says he is. He doesn't care about Aizen, he doesn't care about the rest of the Espada. It is very personal for him. For Ichigo, Orohime is within his grasp of saving and he views this as his "final" battle. It's my favorite fight in all of Bleach.
-However, this is where things start to take a bit of dip in quality in my opinion. We had a goal and we were striving towards that goal. Each character of the original cast coming to repay the debt they made to their friend who had risked her life to save them in the Soul society arc. But somewhere along the way it seems we just had a fighter fest. Captains would face enemies with no themes or character revelations. The Espadas got a little light but nothing that made their fights compelling. You almost just feel bad for the Espada as they were monsters turned into a military force by an unstoppable tyrant. But even that wasn't enough to make half of the fights interesting. Now, that's with knowing the outcome. These fights played little importance in the larger scheme of things. Where at least in the Hueco Mundo fights each match up had the protagonists striving for a goal. Rukia to defeat Aaroneiro to free her former superiors soul. Byakuya to defend Rukia. Renji and Uryu teamwork. Nel to protect Ichigo and get revenge on Nnoitra. Whereas Stark fought Kyoraku.....cause.....and Hitsugaya fought Halibel because Water vs Ice would be cool.
-This leaves me to the end. I won't say it wasn't satisfying that Ichigo was able to defeat Aizen. And yes, I do feel like his new power was earned. 3 months of training. But this was clearly a last minute decision to save Aizen for a later date and the show must go on. I do feel like it wasn't as satisfying as 200+ chapter buildup needed to be.
The Fullbring Arc - Chapters 424-479 - Rating: 8/10
-A very underrated arc. And yes, I acknowledge that rating wise I think the Fullbring arc is superior to the Hueco Mundo arc. That is mostly true. Though I like the first half of the Hueco Mundo Arc more than the Fullbring arc. The end of the HM arc really brought it down for me. The Fullbring Arc is much more concise and is actually the shortest arc in the series and works as a glorified Ichigo getting his powers back arc. But that doesn't mean its bad.
-When I read it originally back when it was coming out in 2010. (Cause I'm Old) It wasn't phenomenal. In fact, I hated it. But wouldn't you? It took just short of a year to get to the point that we were at. But upon rereading it, it gave much deserved love to the characters who hadn't been shown love in quite some time. The original cast. It was a very character focused arc. Ichigo never seemed more human. And despite me hating it before for taking so long, reading weekly can sometimes hurt these mystery based arcs. The twist is heavily foreshadowed and I really appreciated it.
-That being said, the end was super rushed. This was a big bummer for me. The villains this time around were humans. And the ones who had the most exposure and relations with these characters were the original cast who again....were humans. So to have the soul reapers, who have no connection to the fullbringers show up and basically no diff most of the fullbringers felt very forced and fanservicey to me. This very well could have not been Kubo's call. As the community was very vocal about their dislike for this arc as it was going on. But I appreciate it now much more as I appreciate character and story over big sword fights. Lol.
The Thousand Year Blood War Arc - Chapters 424-689 - Rating: 5/10
-And we're finally here. The final and largest arc within the Bleach story. And man...does it not stick the landing.
-That being said, this arc has phenomenal moments. Kenpachi's Shikai and Bankai. Ichigo's double swords. Renji's true Bankai. Rukia's Bankai. And many more. However, they are put together against the most break neck speed arc that I have ever read. Kubo was very ambitious when he introduced 26 new villains. However, most of them got barely any screen time and a lot of them even got off screened by higher level captains. This was unlike the Espada who each got a full double page spread for their Resurrections.
-Yhwach himself was a phenomenal villain but was dealt with swiftly and imo dirty. They did him dirty.
-There was just something off. The mood changed and it was very apparent. The villains had random powers instead of the powers reflecting their personalities or needs. The finale felt so underwhelming.
-Ichigo gets to be the strongest he's ever been....but he doesn't defeat a single person besides the main villain despite being in several fights.
-It isn't a good arc. In fact, I would say it's the worst. Hopefully the anime does a better job with this already mammoth of a story. 260 chapters is no joke.
This gives the story of Bleach an Overall rating of 7.4/10. Which to me is above average. It has it's ups and downs. It's not perfect. But when it's high, it's peak shonen. But when it's low, it's very forgettable.

But this was clearly a last minute decision to save Aizen for a later date and the show must go on. I do feel like it wasn't as satisfying as 200+ chapter buildup needed to be.
The Fullbring Arc - Chapters 424-479 - Rating: 8/10
-A very underrated arc. And yes, I acknowledge that rating wise I think the Fullbring arc is superior to the Hueco Mundo arc. That is mostly true. Though I like the first half of the Hueco Mundo Arc more than the Fullbring arc. The end of the HM arc really brought it down for me. The Fullbring Arc is much more concise and is actually the shortest arc in the series and works as a glorified Ichigo getting his powers back arc. But that doesn't mean its bad.
-When I read it originally back when it was coming out in 2010. (Cause I'm Old) It wasn't phenomenal. In fact, I hated it. But wouldn't you? It took just short of a year to get to the point that we were at. But upon rereading it, it gave much deserved love to the characters who hadn't been shown love in quite some time. The original cast. It was a very character focused arc. Ichigo never seemed more human. And despite me hating it before for taking so long, reading weekly can sometimes hurt these mystery based arcs. The twist is heavily foreshadowed and I really appreciated it.
-That being said, the end was super rushed. This was a big bummer for me. The villains this time around were humans. And the ones who had the most exposure and relations with these characters were the original cast who again....were humans. So to have the soul reapers, who have no connection to the fullbringers show up and basically no diff most of the fullbringers felt very forced and fanservicey to me. This very well could have not been Kubo's call. As the community was very vocal about their dislike for this arc as it was going on. But I appreciate it now much more as I appreciate character and story over big sword fights. Lol.
The Thousand Year Blood War Arc - Chapters 424-689 - Rating: 5/10
-And we're finally here. The final and largest arc within the Bleach story. And man...does it not stick the landing.
-That being said, this arc has phenomenal moments. Kenpachi's Shikai and Bankai. Ichigo's double swords. Renji's true Bankai. Rukia's Bankai. And many more. However, they are put together against the most break neck speed arc that I have ever read. Kubo was very ambitious when he introduced 26 new villains. However, most of them got barely any screen time and a lot of them even got off screened by higher level captains. This was unlike the Espada who each got a full double page spread for their Resurrections.
-Yhwach himself was a phenomenal villain but was dealt with swiftly and imo dirty. They did him dirty.
-There was just something off. The mood changed and it was very apparent. The villains had random powers instead of the powers reflecting their personalities or needs. The finale felt so underwhelming.
-Ichigo gets to be the strongest he's ever been....but he doesn't defeat a single person besides the main villain despite being in several fights.
-It isn't a good arc. In fact, I would say it's the worst. Hopefully the anime does a better job with this already mammoth of a story. 260 chapters is no joke.
This gives the story of Bleach an Overall rating of 7.4/10. Which to me is above average. It has it's ups and downs. It's not perfect. But when it's high, it's peak shonen. But when it's low, it's very forgettable.

Ichigo Kurosaki is a high school student who can see ghosts. When an evil spirit, called a hollow, attacks his family, he meets Rukia, a soul reaper tasked with fighting against hollows. But when Rukia is injured, Ichigo must make the decision to take over the role of soul reaper to help fight against hollows to save his hometown.
Bleach is a classic manga and one of the more popular options for those starting out in the genre/format. It features themes of friendship, growing up and changing, and never giving up. One of the most enjoyable elements of this series is watching the progression as the characters learn and evolve. Ichigo has a tendency to be really cocky, especially at the start of the series, but as time goes on and he learns more about the world he’s in, he changes and becomes more willing to listen to the advice given to him by other characters. His friends also continue to grow and progress along with him. Additionally, there is a change in the art style of the characters as the story progresses, which makes it easy to see how they have changed as they all get older. There were two elements about this series that I disliked. The first was that I felt the ending was a bit rushed, and there were some things that I was a bit confused about. However, I recognize that the author was sick and so that attributed to the way things ended. The other element that I disliked was the sheer number of characters in the series by the end. Many of the characters that I thought were dead or gone ended up coming back, and I had to try and remember who they all were. I definitely think I needed to make myself a character sheet with information about each character to help me remember everyone in the end. In terms of assessing age appropriateness for this series, I would say that it’s an okay series for middle school and up. A couple of considerations to keep in mind when deciding if it’s right for you: 1. There is some violence (which is common for shonen mangas), including some elements of body horror, but it’s not too bad. 2. There is no sexual content, although many of the women are drawn disproportionately (which is common in manga written by men). 3. The main character is fifteen years old at the start of the series and only gets older as it progresses. And 4. The themes are a bit mature in that they require some deeper level thinking in order to fully understand them all. Overall, I enjoyed this series for its interesting premise, and would definitely recommend it to those who enjoy the traditional shonen manga.

Nel’s transformation has taken Ichigo and everyone else by surprise as she goes from young child to voluptuous fighting woman in a heartbeat! Pesche and Dondochakka also turn out to be more than they seem. Indeed they are true friends and loyal followers and protectors of Nel. As Nel battles Nnoitora, in her Capricorn Knight form, you can almost feel the fear that radiates from him. Apparently he hasn’t missed her presence ever since she almost beat him down once before.
Pesche and Dondochakka attack Szayelaporro, who has vastly underestimated them, not knowing they have been training for years. After Nnoitora unexpectedly causes Nel to revert to her childlike state, he tells Tesla to do what he wants with all of them, he is done. Now Ichigo must face the Armored Tusk Warrior, and Ichigo is in bad shape already.
Szayelaporro deals with Nel’s two friends and is about to put an end to Ichigo when salvation unexpectedly arrives in the form of Kenpachi. A confused Ichigo asks how can he be there, since the captains have been forbidden to help him. Kenpachi explains that it has to do with Uruhara, who was working to stabilize a safe path to Hueco Mundo for the captains, but that Orihime being snatched forced them to speed up the timetable.
The other captains begin to arrive – Unohana, Byakuya, and Kurotsuchi. They are faced by Zommari Rureaux, the number seven Espada
Let the battles begin!
Another action-packed, battle-filled volume of Bleach. Watching Nel and her friends reveal their true selves is pretty awesome. Also, the fortuitous arrival of Kenpachi to save the day! Not exactly an altruistic fellow, I imagine he’s saving Ichigo so he will have the pleasure of battling him again. Look for a brief appearance by Yuchiro as well! Byakuya shows why he has the reputation he has with some pretty awesome moves against Rureaux, and also reveals he is not entirely cold-hearted. But, in my opinion, it is the under-utilized Kurotsuchi who steals the show. We don’t get to see him fight very often, but don’t underestimate him. He takes advantage of a bacteria he planted in the unknowing Uryu in order to gain advance information on the enemy, and that move certainly pays off. Not only does he display his devious skill set but he reaffirms what a cold being he is. His coup de grace against Szayelaporro is priceless!
Hopefully we’ll get to see more of the captains in the next volume, especially Shunsui! I enjoyed this volume of Bleach, look forward to the next one!

VOLUME 34: CHAPTER 296-305
Arc 7: Arrancar vs. Shinigami
Neliel released her Resurrecion: Gamuza. She once again overwhelmed Nnoitra but suddenly she changed back into child version. Tesla released his Resurrecion: Verruga and beat Ichigo. Zommari come to Aaroniero place and going to kill Rukia. Dondochakka and Pesche fight Szayelaporro. They used their powerful attack, Cero Sincretico but nothing happened to Szayelaporro.
Suddenly, Kenpachi appears to help Ichigo. Instantly, Kenpachi defeated Tesla. According to him, Byakuya, Unohana and Mayuri also come to Hueco Mundo. The fights now shift to the Captains vs the Espadas. Kenpachi took on Nnoitra, Byakuya fights Zommari and Mayuri fights Szayelaporro.
Byakuya wants to save Rukia. The battle of Byakuya and Zommari is the battle of flash as Zommari have the quickest Sonido among the Espada; Gemelos Sonido. Byakuya used Shunkou that being thought by Yoruichi. Zommari released his Resurrecion: Brujería. Byakuya countered it with his Bankai and he manged to defeat Zommari. Isane come to heal Rukia and Yamada.
Szayelaporro used his doll technique to Mayuri but it didn't give any effect. Mayuri already observed the battle between Ishida and Szayelaporro using the bacteria that he have put inside Ishida's body. Mayuri released his Bankai. Szayelaporro was eaten by Mayuri's Bankai but he was reborn through Nemu. Nemu's body was already induced with some poison called Superhuman Serum. 1 second in real life will feel like 100 years for Szayelaporro. Mayuri stabbed Szayelaporro's chest and the pain will reach him hundred years later. Szayelaporro submerged into darkness as his time flow very slow.

This series does more of what you've already seen in this series. The enemies are so much stronger than the heroes that it's hopeless! Suddenly the heroes get a power-up that makes them so much stronger than the enemies! Then the enemies reveal that they have secret techniques, and the heroes also have secret techniques, which secret technique will be superior?
Is it repetitive stuff we've already seen before? Yes.
Does it present interesting situations and end them before the chapter ends? Yes.
Are the characters loud and arrogant while spending more time on monologues than fighting? Yes.
Does it look cool as shit and end on one of the finer points on this whole arc? Yes.
Tite Kubo is very good at squeezing just enough fun and cool artwork out of a story to make you feel good reading it even if you realize it's not a great story.
