It all started when Kendell met Pauline (and her purse dog Dot) on a flight to London, England. They became fast friends. Pauline is an elderly widow looking for a traveling companion and Kendell desperately needs a vacation from her job as a flight attendant. Pauline makes Kendell an offer she can’t refuse - an all expense paid trip all over the world. They’ve already been to London and Kenya. Their next adventure is Hawaii. A place Pauline’s husband always wanted to go, but never had the chance.
Much to Kendell’s surprise she runs into her best friend Brandon. He’s in Hawaii to cheer on his brother and his brother’s girlfriend in a surfing competition. There was a mistake in the hotel reservations and Pauline offers Brandon a chance to stay with them. Brandon’s brother gives them all a chance to soak up some of the local beaches that tourists don’t always get the chance to see.
Things don’t go as planned when the girlfriend is murdered. Pauline and Kendell are quickly on the case. There were murders on their previous trips as well and they’ve always managed to solve the murder. They see no reason for this time to be any different.
This is the third book in the Flight Risk Cozy Mystery series. It takes a bit to get over the continued generosity of Pauline fully financing Kendell’s trip (which sometimes includes her friends). After all, the women haven’t known each other very long. Kendell doesn’t even pay for meals. LOL However, it’s a couple of hours of pure fun and enjoyment to read. These books make me feel good.
Pauline and Kendell make me smile. They take some crazy risks to solve mysteries, but they are amateur sleuths and that’s their job :) I’m always wondering what craziness they will find themselves in next. Their next trip is Peru. It should be fun.

The Flight Risk Cozy Mystery Series is a funny, entertaining series with a couple of interesting main characters: Pauline and Kendell. Pauline is a feisty, older woman from Georgia, USA, and her sidekick is a confident, young woman from NY. Add a pocket pup that barks at the wrong times and you get entertaining stories to read on their journey around the globe. P.S.: Pauline isn't senile, she's quaint and smart. 4 stars
Murder at Macbeth #1 - Funny, entertaining. I had stopped reading Ms. Harper for a few months and wanted to try this series. I enjoyed this book, the storyline and certainly the characters: Pauline and Kendell. There's a little bit of everything in this story, including a nod to Jackie Chan. While the morgue scene was a bit unrealistic, it still worked, and the rest of the story is entertaining. The Bobbies take a bit of beating with their lack of investigating. 4 stars
A Killing in Kenya #2 - The story picks up on the plane ride from London to Kenya. This story is funnier and has more adventures than Murder at Macbeth. Added to the mix is flight attendant friend Liv and many fun animals. Well written with interesting dialog and an intriguing plot, along with plenty of humor and adventure. It was interesting to read about game reserves and legal hunting of endangered animals; whether this is true or not, it makes sense. Entertaining and quick to read. My favorite of the first four in the series. The next stop: Hawaii. 4 stars
Homicide in Hawaii #3 - The story starts as the plane takes off from Nairobi, Kenya. I don't care too much reading books set in HA, but this one is OK. Not as fast paced as the first two books, it was still interesting and quick to read. The main characters are getting better rounded, the dialog is still realistic and no stupid formula. The trio is joined by another flight attendant Brandon. Included are previews for a couple of books. The next stop: Peru via Texas. 3 stars
Trouble in Texas #4 - This story starts as the plane takes off from Hawaii on the way to Peru with a stop in Texas. Storms and a tornado keep the trio near Dallas. This book isn't my favorite, a lot of things felt off. While slow moving, the story was interesting while some of the dialog and actions were off. Kinda halfhearted stereotyping, which that's been done in the other books but those felt honest and playful (not meant to insult - just tease). With old school/native Texans, there's no wearing hats or work gloves in the house, so when one of these articles was continuously worn without comment by others, that was unreal. The next stop: Mississippi. 3 stars

This is book 3 in an absolutely fun and hilarious cozy mystery with two of the most unlikely characters who are paired up; Kendall and Pauline. Kendall is a workaholic flight attendant who meets up with Pauline a retired flight attendant and her pocket do, Dot on one of Kendall's return flights. The adventures begin in the first book of the series when caught on a layover, Kendall is offered a place to stay at a luxury hotel in London by Pauline. Pauline convinces Kendall who has a lot of vacation days saved up to join her on her whirlwind holiday to different places. Pauline is a senior who is very active and willing to take chances while Kendall starts off a little lay-back. What a great couple. Each place they visit in the 3 books of this series provides them not only with adventure but with a mystery they feel the need to get involved in! And as a bonus you get to visit these places with them along with a lot of laughs! I LOVE this series and have to read it in one sitting each time! This third book takes place, as it says in the title in Hawaii and provides a lot of twists and turns and red-herrings to keep you page turning until the end. I can't wait to read book number 4. I Love the wonderful main characters and their relationship it fits so well! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

I didn't really like the first 2 books in this series, but I was offered an ARC of a box set of first 3 book, and so I decided to read book 3, and, surprise, surprise I actually quite enjoyed it. There are still some completely unbelievable aspects to the story, including the ongoing farce of one of the ladies managing to take her dog everywhere, on flights, through customs and immigration without anyone spotting that she has it.
But getting past that, this adventure was actually quite fun, and the story line was a lot more believable than the first two books, and when the guilty party was revealed, it definitely made sense.
There are two saving grace in this series, firstly the characters, the two main ones, Kendell and Pauline are actually very well drawn and are great fun, the additional characters are a bit sketchy, but that is to be expected in this type of book, but at least they all do act consistently with the way that they are portrayed. The second saving grace is the humour, there are some very funny situations, and Pauline, an elderly Southern Belle has some hilarious lines.
So - an enjoyable, light cosy mystery, which is a great improvement over the first two books in the series.

After wrapping up their adventure in Kenya, Pauline, Kendall and Dot are on their way to Hawaii. On the flight, they ran into a friend of Kendall’s who had a brother living in Hawaii, so he joined them.
The third leg of the trip and they found their third murder victim. They go off on their own to investigate the murder, sometimes putting themselves in a risky position. It was interesting to read about the funeral customs in Hawaii and learn some about a place I hope to visit someday.
I don’t like the storyline about Kendall's boyfriend, Jack. When he was introduced in the first book, he seemed like a nice guy. He had been encouraging Kendall to take time for herself and then he turns into a complete jerk when she does. It doesn’t make sense or add anything to the stories.
I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

In spite of the unbelievable backstory for the series - flight attendant Kendall meets former flight attendant Pauline and her pup Dot on a flight to London where Pauline convinces Kendall to join her traveling around the world as Pauline's guest - I do enjoy this new series.
Still not a fan of the drama Kendall's boyfriend, Jack brings to the story. The author might want to consider halting that particular subplot as it is an unnecessary distraction.

Kendell, Pauline and Dot have finally made it to Hawaii. Brandon another flight attendant, is there to visit his brother. Having lost his hotel reservation, Pauline invites him to join them in their suite, on the pullout couch.
Brandon take them to a local hideaway to a real island experience. In the morning there is a murder. We shouldn't be surprised as that's what Ms. Harper does best. You need to read these books in order, can't hardly wait for the next one.

Pauline and Kendell might have thought that they would have a relaxing vacation in Hawaii........no such luck! First night, no problems, next morning....big problem, another murder! A successful surfer who was on her way to stardom in the surfing world is killed. Who would want to kill someone who was doing such wonderful work for the island and its people? The who and the why will surprise you. Another great read from Susan Harper. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

HIGHLY ENTERTAINING
An absolutely hilarious adventure about a stewardess, a retired lady and her dog, and a ton of new friends they meet along their way. Not only are they traveling to a different country with each book; but also there is a murder in sac adventure. They play amateur detective in each episode.

This book had me sleuthing right along with the story! I laughed, I worried, I cried. I am going to continue on with this series and jumble my emotions again. Thank you Susan Harper. I love your books! I suggest you should try these books and give this Author a chance to grab your attention.

One and a half stars... but not because of the storyline. I really liked the characters and story. However, the author has never been to Hawaii. A simple internet search would have shown that there are no helicopter rides to view volcanoes on Oahu, and there is no museum with hired guides on the Pearl Harbor Arizona memorial. I know most folks wouldn't care but I was annoyed.

Pauline jinxed their trip to Hawaii when she said "What could possibly go wrong?" . Very enjoyable series. I love that each book takes place in a different country or state as they take a trip of a lifetime.

Even though this seems far-fetched it is entertaining and a quick read. There are still a number of typos and it would be a good idea for most of the books to have better editing before they are printed digitally.

Loved it.
I enjoyed reading this . Such a great series. And love the characters. Especially Pauline. Such a character. Reminds me a little of my Gran. Years ago we went on a couple of great trips together. So very well worth the read.

I loved this book! There was a lot of unexpected twists and turns, especially at the end, but everything makes sense by the end. I really can’t wait for the next book to see where all this leads!

Another great. Pauline and Kendall are trying to enjoy their Hawaiian holiday. Of course, it doesn’t happen. Instead a murder does, and so they have to try to solve it. Wonderfully entertaining.

Homicide in Hawaii is a very good cozy mystery, it is well written with a great plot with a mysterious ending, I recommend this book for an enjoyable read
