Let's see...I'd probably consider giving this book a four for some hot sex scenes, but only a one or two for storyline because it's just so out there and bizarre. It didn't particularly appeal to me. Plus, some of it was just downright weird and didn't make much sense. And the heroine annoyed me with her fickleness. Overall, this book just fell completely flat.

In author Opal Carew's latest book, Six, Harmony is a woman who spends most of her life being a straight-laced professional. But underneath that, she has a wild, sexual side that she only lets loose for one week a year. She's tried before to incorporate both, but had terrible results. So she restricts her raunchy urges to once a year when she meets her five friends from college for a no-holds-barred sexual free-for-all. Only, this year, she is seriously dating a man she loves. She doesn't want to lose Aiden, who she's only had vanilla sex with, but she doesn't want to give up her "vacations." When Aiden proposes to her just before her trip, she realizes she has to make a choice so she tells Aiden about the trips and what goes on between her and her five friends. Aiden finds it arousing and wants to go along and Harmony realizes it would be a good way to test him, to see if he could handle her wild, sexual side. If he can hack it, then she'll happily say yes to his proposal.

Once they get to the island resort, everything gets messy. Especially when Aiden's ex, Mia, follows him and wants him back. The two almost got engaged before Mia ditched him. Now, jealousy abounds, made even worse by the fact that one of Harmony's five friends, Cole, thinks he loves her and wants to marry her. Of course, this doesn't stop the sexual escapades, it just makes them dicier and fraught with emotions. Harmony and Aiden have to figure what they really want before they can move on.

note: there are probably spoilers in the following review, but it's erotica with some romance, there's not really that much to spoil.

Though that summary makes it sound like this book has an interesting storyline, it doesn't come off nearly as enjoyable to read. The way it comes off is just odd and not really a turn-on. I can't count the number of times I rolled my eyes while reading this one. And all the weird dynamics were just that, weird. And not appealing in the least.

For one thing, the entire premise isn't quite what it seems. You start off by learning that six college friends get together once a year for some sexual fun. But then you learn that for the rest of the year, they have rules to not contact each other. The only time they are actually "real" friends is for that one week. There's something decidedly bizarre about that...that for 51 one weeks you never talk to these people, then for one week, you do anything and everything with them. That doesn't really work for me. But then there were some comments from Harmony about how Cole is always there for her and she can always talk to him...and all I could think was, when? Supposedly you can't talk to him the rest of the year, so how is he always there for you? That didn't make any sense to me. But aside from that, I don't know, the whole 'we're good friends but only for this one week' thing...it didn't work for me.

The sex...well, yeah, there were some hot scenes. Actually, I think like 90% of the book is sex, so obviously it's more than a little steamy. There's a very "swinger's" vibe to the story, though, that didn't really sit right with me. It would be one thing if their activities were restricted among their group of trusted friends, but it wasn't. They happily invited any and all strangers to join them. There's one scene with Angela (one of the Six) where six young studs (complete strangers) are ogling her so she just invites them to do her without a thought. There's an ick factor there, at least for me. It's one thing to hook up with one hot stranger in a club or bar, and have it go from there, but random, one-time, group stranger sex...well, I guess it's a little too much for me.

When it came to the relationship part of the story for Harmony and Aiden...I think "fickle" is the name of the game. One moment one's hot and aroused by the situation, the next they're jealous, then hot, then jealous, then some guilt, then defiant. Back and forth it went. It got irritating. Take the situation with Aiden's ex, Mia, for example. She gets hooked up with the group, and first Harmony is insanely jealous, then she decides Mia should be allowed in the group since it would be a good test for Aiden's feelings, then she makes him promise he won't have sex with her, then she decides maybe he should (the test again), then he does and she's angry and pissed off..etc, etc. Back and forth it went and I got bored with it. I mean, fickle much?

But that was pretty much Harmony. She went every which way. There was one part of the book with her that almost made me put the book down. She had a fight with Aiden about Mia and she's all depressed and upset...along comes one of the guys from the Six and the next thing you know, they're heading off for a tryst at a waterfall. And then she's thinking how happy and carefree she feels. And it's like, what? A half hour ago, you were so depressed and thinking your relationship with Aiden is done, but one of the guys swings his dick your way and it's Aiden who? Sure, whatever. Then while Harmony and the guy are getting it one, two strangers happen upon them. In two seconds flat, Harmony invites them over to do her. And while they're at it, two more show up (friends of the other two strangers) and she invites them as well. So she spends a while getting screwed six ways to Sunday, completely and utterly happy. But then as soon as she's back in her hotel room and sees Aiden, it's like a switch flipped and she's all upset and nearly in tears because of what had happened between them and what she'd just done.

All I could do as I read was just shake my head. It was so utterly ridiculous. The group stranger sex with the heroine was bad enough...but Harmony, she drove me nuts. She's supposed to be this serious professional woman who likes to get a little wild, but instead she comes off as a flighty, fickle, sex-starved slut who will do anything human that walks by. For me, I just don't find that a turn-on to read about. Sure, I like it when these erotica books push boundaries, but at the same time, I want some...stability...to go along with it. There wasn't any of that in this book.

One other thing I didn't really like about the book was just Carew's writing style in general. Her structure and flow is very simplistic. Lots of sentences starting with He or She...'she walked into the room and looked at Aiden. She smiled at him and winked. She sauntered to him and grinned.' Stuff like that. For me, it's distracting to read when five sentences in a row start with She...there's no flow to it. But that's a personal pet-peeve of mine.

Anyway, other than some hot sex scenes, nothing about Six appealed to me. I didn't really like the characters, the romantic relationship was rather blah, and the storyline went places that didn't do anything for me. There's not much depth to this tale that tries to stuff as much outrageous sex as possible into 263 pages. It skates the surface on what could have been a rather interesting alternative romance.

So I'd say this book works more for those of you who like general erotica versus erotic romance. It's very much about a swingers lifestyle and complete and utter sexual excess. If that's not something you like, then I'd highly suggest not shelling out the cash for this one.

Warning, this book contains: explicit sex, group sex, stranger (group) sex, anal sex, f/f sex, some like m/m interaction, exhibitionism, and voyeurism

This book should have been called ‘Steel Vaginas.’

Gosh! How could this heroine have sex with 9 different men for hours and hours with not even a sore hooha? If she had been a hooker, I would have understood (I imagine that ladies of the night build up resistance in there) but this was a woman who has having ‘normal’ sex for 51 weeks of the year with one partner. How was she able to constantly withstand multiple partners in multiple orifices?

There was a lot of sex in this book but it was a bit unimaginative. The sessions between partners would last a few paragraphs and then things would move on to the next partner. All the strange men they meet were hunks (No pot bellies! No hairy chests!) and everybody would ‘wail’ at the time of orgasm (yes, even the men.)

There was an attempt at a plot here and that’s why the book originally got 3 stars. But as I was writing this review I remembered the ickiness factor and downgraded the book to 2 stars: unprotected sex among multiple partners (I don’t know how the boyfriend didn’t object) and this may spoil your appetite so read at your own risk: Gross! A book with a scene like this CANNOT get more than 2 stars from me: the author must learn that she must be mindful of these details!

WARNING : Not for the faint of heart or easily offended.

So, I had a great review all written up and GR decided to poop out on me and not let it post. Not even going to bother writing it all over again. The first time took too much work.

I decided to read this book after seeing people giggling about it and making random references that had me wondering. I read books with steam here and there, but this type of book was a first. Curiosity got the better of me and I caved just to see what the big deal was.

The name of the book is a bit misleading. A better title would have been Six plus 2, as well as a few strangers. Actually, "a few strangers" is being kind. There were somewhere between 6 and 10. I sort of lost count. Or as my friend D.G. said, a more apt title would have been Steel Vaginas.

Even with all that, we hadn't begun to breach the weird factor. Someone needs to clue in the author that "orgy weddings" are not sexy. Or as someone else managed to catch, oral after back door play is most definitely a huge ewwwww (technical term here) factor.

Oh boy! This one did NOT work for me! Way to many ick factors including unprotected sex with multiple partners (I know it is erotica BUT if they are going to be with 2,3,4,5 men please have those boys cover up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was interested at first to see where this was going to go and I was really cheering for one of the six to steal her heart but no heart in this book just all sex!!

I was also under the impression that we would get more POV from the other "six" and please Harmony??? I just HATE that name and I think from the start that would have taken a way a star for me a name is everything!

Maybe I'm just a nympho, but I really enjoyed this book!!! Six friends from college meet at a tropical resort one week out of the year for a sexual free for all!! These guys have absolutely no inhibitions!!
This year Harmony has been dating Aiden who she has only had basically vanilla sex with up until right before vacation time when he decides to propose!! Harmony realizes that she must show Aiden her "True" sexual appetite before accepting his proposal & not only tells him of her "other side" but invites him to participate in her yearly sexfest wanting to make sure he will still be love her!!! Suprisingly, Aiden decides to come along, knowing the woman he loves will be having sex with other men. Even with all of the sex in the air, there is still a good story to go along with it!! Tables turn on Harmony when she is faced with the possibility that Aiden might love another woman!!
**Warning, this book is not for the faint at heart!! If you are uncomfortable with sex with multiple partners, public sex,or double penetration you might want to take this one off of your list!! This crew has extreme stamina!!

Erotica indulgence about a woman who isn't sure of what she wants - other than to have every possible orifice filled as often as possible. When Harmony's boyfriend of nearly a year proposes to her, she decides that she needs to have him see how she 'really' is on one of her vacations with her group of friends from college before she'll give him an answer. So she invites him to go with her on vacation for a week of no holds barred sex with all of her friends to see if she really wants him or not. What better way to tell a guy that you love him than to have him walk in on you as two guys are putting the 'do' in double penetration? Forget for a moment that one of the two also proposes to her. When things actually get dicey for our couple is when his ex shows up.

Light fun fantasy but not for the faint-hearted. If you find the idea of someone in a supposedly committed relationship blowing and then screwing four strangers who saw her while she was having sex with another person (also not the one she is in the relationship with) distasteful, then this is probably not the book for you.

This was a new concept to the whole smut scene for me. Six college friends have met for an erotic "sex-any-way-you-want-it" vacation every year for the past 12 years. There was a ton of crazy hot sex, but there was also a story too-- one that you actually want to know how it ends.

Liked the friends having this erotic relationship...it got a little skank when they brought strangers into the mix...it was a good read though.

3.25 / 3 Stars

I knew after reading the blurb that it was going to be a smutfest. I mean, 3 guys and 3 gals that knew each other in college get together 1x a year for a week of sex, sex and more sex. Didn't think nearly a dozen others (most strangers) would be added to the mix, but wasn't shocked by it. The 6 friends were tested before the week rolled around and condoms were used with the strangers....so there was some safe sex being observed.

This book was essentially temptation island but written, and with a lot more sex and sexual partners. There wasn’t much of a plot line, it was more smut than anything, which if you’re in the mood for, great this will be the book for you!

My review:

I really enjoy Opal Carew's novels. She writes very hot sex scenes, great characters and this one is no exception. Although there was a lot of hot sex and I did like the characters, I felt there was something missing. I found there was a lack of real intimacy between Harmony and Aiden, sex became almost meaningless.

I still enjoyed it and I still recommend it.

Six long-time friends spend their annual weekly vacation together for an all-holds barred sexfest. Wasn't much mm though, only fondling and oral. Lots of mfm, fm+.

Harmony has finally confessed what she does on her annual vacation to her beau Aiden, (she had met him shortly after last year's vacation) who has asked her to marry him. She is reluctant to share that part of her life with him because she was judged by previous men in her life and doesn't trust that he'll really want to marry her after he sees her in action so she holds on accepting his proposal. He accompanies and gives his blessing and even participates in some scenes.

Aiden's ex-girlfriend Mia, shows up and seems to want Aiden back. There's lots of sex, miscommunication and finally a resolution.

Didn't seem realistic to me - but hey it's fiction - and it was a fun, sexy read.

Eh. I wanted to like this more. I think Carew writes a mean sex scene with hotness galore, but I guess I'm not that into the group orgies and sex scenes. Not because I don't approve or don't think they are hot, but for two other reasons:

1. it's sometimes hard to figure out what is going on. With multiple people involved it's easy to lose track of who is doing what to who...which makes it a little less exciting.

2. There isn't much chance to sense intimate relationships with the characters or see how sex builds the storyline because the sex doesn't become important at all to the characters so much.

So I really didn't love this. In looking back at my reviews of Carew's books, they are either 3s or 5s, so they sort of hit or miss with me. But I keep reading her because in every book there are always sex scenes that are steamy and keep me reading!

There was plenty of racy sex in this book and a fairly predictable but reasonable plot involving some insecurities, real love (all around) and a happy resolution at the end. I found it light and reasonably pleasant to read - but I really wanted to edit the first half or more of the book. I found the grammar lacking and I always struggle with that. People who are less fussy than me could probably enjoy it all the way through and it's certainly got enough saucy content (with the regular anatomical description) to please.

One more frustration, the women in this book consistently "wail" when they orgasm. I would really love a better, or at least occassionally another, description to be applied.

Ok, first of all this book was very HOT!! I loved the premise of the 6 long time friends getting together to shed all sexual inhibitions once a year, that being said there is only one aspect that I really didn't like and it was that the girls, more than once would just have sex with 5/6 random strangers at once, that kind of gave it an ick factor for me. IMO, the loving, trusting relationship between the 6 friends was a hot concept but throwing in the strangers I didn't like. This book was an otherwise very hot, sexy read and I recommend it!

Oh this had so much potential...
Put a whole bunch of sexually adventurous people on an exotic island for a week and see how much steam they can create. Throw in some deeper emotions, and stir slowly. We know the author can write hot sex, but her dialog and management of emotional conflict wasn't on best display here. Even the sex seemed tepid in some scenes. I wish the editor had said "Go back one more time and tighten this up." It coulda been great!
Still, plenty of sex between beautiful people (lots of them), in every combination possible. Read it for the fun.

I really wish I could remember who recommended this book to me. If I could I would firmly slap them in the face and ask them WTF they were thinking. This is by far the smuttiest of smutty books out there. It's a blantant chance to simple see how many times 'cock' and 'wailing orgasm' could be typed in one book.

Whew! In Carew's typical style, this book is an indulgence of hot sexual scenes set within a loose story that allows for plenty of steamy action. Harmony has received a marriage proposal but she's worried that her boyfriend won't be able to accept her wild side in which she takes a week-long vacation each year with several college friends, and they spend the time sharing sexual experiences. Anything goes, with each other and with strangers. Aiden joins in the fun and finds it all exciting, encouraging her. But she's still wary, especially when his ex shows up unexpectedly. My biggest problem was that Harmony still continued with plenty of sex herself, but she kept arguing that Aiden shouldn't spend any time with Mia or ever touch her, even though Mia was invited to join the group for the week. She'd be hurt every time Mia showed up and worried about whether or not Aiden really loved her. Really? It seemed like she wanted it all--for Aiden to be loyal to her, while she went off and did whatever she wanted. If you don't like explicit scenes, then this book is definitely not for you because each new scene gets more outlandish (but fun, if you like to read about that sort of thing). So far this is my favorite Carew book since the plot lent itself perfectly to an erotic romance. A quick, toe-curling, and indulgent read.

A group of six college friends gather every year for a week's vacation. But this vacation is not your typical one...it's a no-holds-barred anything-goes sensual marathon. When Harmony invites the man she is considering marrying on her 'group of six' trip, she does so to ascertain if Aiden will accept all aspects of her life. Despite a rocky start Aiden embraces the trip and her friends and encourages her to explore all aspects of her sexuality. Then his ex-fiance Mia shows up trying to win him back and throws a wrench in things. Harmony questions Aiden's commitment to her, Aiden has old feelings crop up, and both have decisions to make especially with another marriage proposal thrown into the mix. When you add in the tropical paradise they are vacationing in, some very inventive sexual exploits, and willing strangers you have a mix hot enough to melt steel.

A unique story, lovable and eccentric characters, and a lot of creativity made this a quick and thoroughly delightful read.

Amazing

Its was a greatly detailed book. There were a few grammer mistakes, but other than it was wonderful. I had a hard time putting it down; I needed to know what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a very detailed romantic erotica.
