I have a weakness for box sets.

This is a review for the boxed set, and not the content of the books.

Like Box 1 & 2, this box also includes two bonus contents. It came with a small double-sided poster (thankfully, it’s a different poster from the ones included in Box 1 & 2) and a booklet full of Bleach artwork.

Poster side 1:

Poster side 2:

Booklet:
20190302_181230
20190302_181300

Like with Box 2, the interior flap of the door is beautifully decorated.

These boxes are just so beautiful! 😍

Here’s a picture of all three boxed sets (the complete series) all together:

Long story short: it should have ended with Aizen. The new arc is a nice summation of everything that was wrong with the manga, narrative wise - an overflow of new characters that neither contribute to the story, nor is the reader given enough time to truly get to know and appreciate them. Plot holes, retconning, and an amalgamation of characters, weird motivations, cheesy and rushed ending... There's almost nothing redeemable about the final arc, which read more like an author unwilling or unable to let go of their massively popular creation than an actual effort at telling a story, save for Orihime's growth. Her story has at least some semblance of beauty, though it is greatly diminished by the return of Ichigo's power (imagine the main protagonist being allowed to be protected by someone, let alone a woman for once), and it continues the trend of robbing the past of its glory to try to paint the present slightly more positively.

An unsatisfying end to a lovely, and very dear series to me.

This is a selfish 5 star rating for me. Critically it didn't deserve 5 stars but bleach has been close to a 10 year journey for me.

I had been reading Bleach on and off ever since I was 14 along with watching the anime. I had discontinued it after the Aizen arc so finishing the series was long overdue, I'm glad it's over. There were a few nice explanations of secrets as plot twists I enjoyed. The typical trope of Shonen Manga prevails as you approach the later volumes of this collection: Power levels are constructed and destroyed within a few chapters, seemingly unbeatable powers are inverted because... 'words' and it can get tiring. As the ending of the series is a bit rushed you can expect a bit of fan service simply as a homage to those who have stuck with the series from 2004 onwards. Once again, I'm glad it's over.

Farewell to the Soul Society, Thankyou Tite Kubo for the journey.

It’s the best arc by far. I really thought it would be impossible to top the Aizen storyline but this is definitely better. I was a little apprehensive of the Fullbringers and they seemed a little like a filler at first but not boring by any stretch of the imagination. A wonderful end to my favorite manga series despite the character deaths. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to get into Shonen manga.

“In a world without the fear of death, men could not face that fear and seek out hope. Certainly, they could keep walking onward by merely living, but that would be very different from walking onward whilst conquering their own fears.
That is why we give the act of walking onward a special name. We call it courage”

Overall the story is good, but it felt the manga was finished abruptly, development of lot of charectors is left and backstories are not finished. Waiting for the anime to release next year will see if anything is improvised.

I've heard a lot of people say that the ending of Bleach was disappointing but I didn't think I would be among those people because I love Bleach so much and although i still love it with my whole heart but the ending really was rushed...

Disappointing.

I really adore Bleach and Kubo's ability to make fascinating characters and world's. However, it seems to end with that. While it has some of my most favourite characters of all time, their growth seems stagnant. The powers and fights stop making sense at a point. But the absolutely dismaying thing of it all is the general shounen-ness of it. A huge chunk of the complete manga is gan service. As a female person reading this, I wanted it to have one strong female character that was close to their male comrades and was not sexualised. Kubo and most of the shounen world seems obsessed with looking at potentially great female characters as sexual objects - all following the typical dere troupes. Rukia is somewhat of an exception but it's definitely not enough. The ending feels rushed as well.
