It’s an impossible situation, but if anyone can save Flicka, it’s her loyal, hot, ripped, bossy, protective, truly maddening, totally off-limits bodyguard.
Flicka von Hannover was a princess, but not anymore, sort of. To hide from her conniving soon-to-be ex-husband and divorce him as soon as possible, she runs to the place specified by her prenuptial agreement, Las Vegas.
She has left everyone and everything behind except her bodyguard who saved her that terrible night and smuggled her to Paris and now to Nevada.
Living with the six-four, ripped, bossy Swiss mercenary is driving her crazy in more ways than one. Every time he comes near her, she wants to rip his clothes off with her teeth.
Her ex knows that she must be in Las Vegas to establish residency to divorce him, and his men are looking for her.
When his Secret Service try to kidnap her and Dieter saves her again, the adrenaline and heat of the moment are too much for them to resist.
But her ex knows that she has to file the paperwork to divorce him, and he’ll do anything to stop her, even mounting an assault with his army on the courthouse when she tries to go to court.
When an actual prince—who has a Secret Service, an army, and real spies—is hunting you down, you run, and you hide IN A FARAWAY LAND..
Blair Babylon is the nom de plume of an award-winning, USA Today-bestselling author who used to publish literary fiction. Because professional reviews of her other fiction usually included the caveat that there was too much deviant sex and too much interesting plot, she decided to abandon all literary pretensions, let her freak flag fly, and write hot, sexy, erotic romance.
Flicka escaped after her husband assaulted her, but getting away from him was just the beginning. To divorce him Flicka has to establish residency in Las Vegas. Her husband Pierre knows that she has to live in Las Vegas and that she has to file the correct paperwork to set the divorce in motion. Pierre is the crown prince of Monaco and he needs a legal heir to keep his rights to the throne. Flicka has to be the one and he won't stop to get her back behind the walls of his castle. Can Flicka stay hidden long enough to get the divorce finalized?
Flicka's bodyguard Dieter helped her escape and got her to Las Vegas. Flicka never had to work a day in her life, but Pierre sabotaged Dieter's finances and they now need to find another way to get money. Dieter has to leave Flicka for a short amount of time to pick up his daughter at her babysitter's house. He commands Flicka to stay in the hotel room until he gets back, but Flicka has other plans. She's done with depending on every person around her and is taking matters into her own hands. Does Flicka have what it takes to disappear in a crowd?
Flicka is determined to divorce her husband. There's no doubt in her mind about how he'll treat her if she would go back to him. She's resourceful and a quick thinker. Flicka ran her own charity for a long time and there are a few useful skills she's learned. She's an expert in negotiating and she knows an awful lot about alcohol and gambling. In Las Vegas these are abilities that can get her a paycheck at the end of the day. I love how smart Flicka is. She's been raised as a royal, but she doesn't look down on people. I am rooting for her to stay safe, so she can let true love in and live in peace again.
In A Faraway Land is the third book in the Runaway Princess series. After every book in this thrilling series I love the main characters more. Flicka is such an amazing woman. She has been in love with Dieter for a very long time and I could feel their chemistry radiating off the pages. In In A Faraway Land the danger becomes even more real when the net around Flicka and Dieter is closing in on them. They need every advantage they can get and this constant fear kept me on the edge of my seat. I fell in love with the Runaway Princess series ever since I read the first book, Once Upon a Time, and look forward to finding out how Flicka's journey continues.
This is In A Faraway Land: Runaway Billionaires: Flicka, written by Blair Babylon. Flicka and Dieter are still on the run from Pierre and trying to establish residency so she can file for divorce. Add in his toddler Alina, and imagine how crazy things are! Flicka’s husband has sent mercenaries to find her and bring her back to him. Pierre is an evil man and Dieter would pay with his life to insure Flicka’s safety. There is a lot going on and we haven’t reached the end yet! Start from book one and play catch up. You definitely don’t want to miss a minute of this amazing series!!
Finally this book is here... I've been waiting for it for a while now, a very nervous waiting because this lady has some serious questions to answer... But I'm scared... Scared because I'm sensing that this is not the end... Blair Babylon had created this series and I'm in love with the characters. Their struggles is so real that it feels like I'm inside of the book. Dayum. In A Faraway Land is her latest release and it's the third book from the Billionaires in Disguise series. But before I tell you a little bit more about this book I need to tell you something. This series is not a standalone therefor you should read all 2 books in order. Just go for it... This new book keeps telling us about Flicka and Dieter. These two keep on the run. She just wants to divorce from her abusive husband and be happy and free with Dieter. She refused to stay in her hotel room, hiding, so she finds herself a job and an apartment for them to stay. Dieter has some issues to deal with and he knows that one glimpse the wrong way can end in a tragedy... Things aren't easy for these two and... OK... Seriously... How can I talk more about this story without spoil? I can't so I'm gonna shut up. This book, in similarly to the first two end on a cliffhanger... Dayum you Blair.... Lol. It's was an exquisite story, super engaging and I want the rest of it. The suspense, the unknown the mystery are very present and I'm going wild thinking what will happen next. When can these two be happy? Where is their happily ever after? The chemistry between the characters is beautiful and the new addition is to die for.... The twists and turns gave this book an amazing vibe that will hook you up... Trust me. Oh Blair.... I need the other book like right now... I want more... I need more... And soon... I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
AUDIO REVIEW: I have been addicted to Flicka von Hannover’s story and have devoured them in a matter of days. Having been rescued several times from her dangerous and evil soon to be ex husband, Flicka and Dieter have escaped Europe and are now hiding out in Las Vegas. However Pierre's secret service are on the trail, knowing that she must submit divorce papers to the court in Las Vegas. After another kidnapping attempt is thwarted by Dieter, the feelings that have been just beneath the surface finally boil over and they succumb to their feelings that are just as intense as they were in the past. After the surprises at the end of the previous book, we get to learn more about Dieter’s past. As with the other books, there are numerous twists and turns that left me shaking my head. Lucy Rivers and Jason Clarke continue to do justice to the story that Ms. Babylon has created and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
In a Faraway Land is completely intoxicating and undeniably mesmerizing. Watching this story unfold is like experiencing a brilliant masterpiece. The characters are so compelling, the plot is intense and on point, and the entire world this story is built in gets smaller and more precarious as we step farther in. I am salivating as I wait for the next book in this series. I will leave the why for you to savor, but it will surely not disappoint. Watching characters previously discovered move in and out of this story is so exciting, and it makes me want to devour every part of this amazing tour de force that much more. I love when previous stories build on each other until they reach a final deafening crescendo, and this recent series is doing that so deliciously well.
Flicka wants nothing more than to divorce her husband who tricked, lied, and assaulted her. She wants it more passionately than a thousand burning suns, and only one person can help her meet the requirements of obtaining this goal. Dieter would do anything for Flicka. He would burn, bleed, and die for her, but he can’t do what she has to in order to get what she wants. All he can do is to try and keep her safe the best he knows how. When that simple job becomes more complicated with each passing day, he must find a way if it only through his will to keep her breathing and with him. Flicka will find that when you want something bad enough, you will figure out a way to get it. Even if that means you have beg, borrow, and plead. For a princess that is unthinkable, but she must decide if being a princess is worth the sacrifice that comes with it.
If I loved Flicka and Deiter before, then I am over the moon with them now. They have grown in so many ways together and individually that I was left shocked and greatly entertained. These characters are evolving into something too beautiful for words, and just when you think things can’t get worse or better, they change. Change isn’t always a bad thing, but it isn’t always a good thing either. Change is just a part of life that we seem to have to negotiate with and flow with in order to stay in some type of control.
Blair Babylon has blown my mind and completely wrecked my heart with this series. Do you know what the best part is? IT ISN’T OVER YET! I know for a fact that my heart will utterly shredded at the end while my mind will be a useless, short-circuited organ. That is a dream come true for me. When a story can destroy me like that, then I know I have found utter perfection and literary nirvana. Blair Babylon will always be a literary goddess to me!
Blair’s books always blow me away and this one is no exception. The third installment of Runaway Billionaires series finds Flicka and Dieter hiding from Flicka’s horrid soon to be ex- husband. With no money and no way to access their old lives without being found, they have to scramble and be like working class Americans Las Vegas in order to establish residency to allow her to get a divorce.
Always resourceful Flicka who refuses to be a prisoner in a hotel room for anyone, goes out and lands a job and a townhouse apartment for them to live in. The bad vibes for her first job are noticeable as the other waitresses are wary of her and her boss thinks she shouldn’t be spending any time with her customers even though that’s clearly how waitresses make their tips. Chased out of her job after only two weeks, Flicka lands another job in a different hotel. She quickly gets noticed when the bartender quits and she gets everyone’s orders caught up. Flicka makes a wonderful bartender and if she wasn’t a princess in real life she could make a great living doing that!
This is the third book in a series which will have five total, so in true Blair fashion, it ends on a cliffhanger. You’ll want to preorder the next book as soon as you finish this one. While you wait until July for the next to be published, be sure to read (or re read cause they are good enough to love every time) all of Blair’s other books. You’ll find they are all twisty and turny and interwoven with each other so much that you’ll feel like you’d be best friends with the characters if you met them in real life.
Book three of five - now that’s an epic story! And here’s the thing. It’s not overly verbose or full of fluff. This book seems like it has been edited to the bone, and still it’s packed with content. We all know there are some authors out there who break books into series unnecessarily, but presumably to maximize sales. Blair Babylon is not one of those authors. Every book is full of intrigue and insights into characters and unexpected twists and so much stuff! There is simply no way this series could be packed into one book. And I haven’t read books four and five yet, although I will (I’m lucky enough to be on her Advanced Reader list, but would happily pay for them anyway), but with the sheer quantity of underlying plots weaving through Flicka’s and Deiter’s stories, I am certain they will be just as substantial.
This book ends with a bit a cliffhanger, but it’s not a pull-your-hair-out kind of abrupt ending. Instead, it’s more of a teaser and really, it’s probably the only logical place to stop before moving on to the next book. If you’re using an e-reader, it doesn’t matter so much, but I can assure you that reading the entire set of five books combined into one hardback or paperback would be utterly untenable.
I could go on, expounding on the many things I enjoyed about this book, but that would just delay your reading of it. Blair Babylon is an incredibly talented author and this is a compelling story with familiar, and surprisingly relatable characters. Five stars aren’t nearly enough to convey just how highly I recommend this book.
Full Of Bravery, Fear & Adrenaline Fuelled Hotness 😍🔥
This 'episode' of the gripping 5 part Fairytale, is 'In A Faraway Land part 3' and is a 'waiting game' for our Princess & her Bodyguard. They are, of course, so much more to one another!! 😍
Flicka has to wait 6 weeks to be able to establish residency in Las Vegas before she can apply to divorce her bigamist, rapist, possible attempted murderer & general sleaze of a guy, that is her husband and also a Prince of Monaco!!
Dieter is running out cash, he needs to retrieve his daughter & arrange a way to access money!! It should all be simple enough. He loathes the thought of leaving Flicka alone in Vegas but there is no other choice ☹️
Will our Princess really become a waitress as this author's 'fake synopsis' on episode 1 suggested? Will Pierre & his many guards find her & kidnap her back to Monaco? Will the Russians come a knocking to exact revenge or will Dieter's Dad save them all, if he finds them after jumping on a flight after seeing that video in episode 2?? One thing we know for sure is Flicka won't endanger Wulf, Rae & their baby, knowingly & Dieter won't endanger any of them unless its a last resort!!
The love & trust between the two main characters is so beautiful it shines through, especially regarding her trauma 💕 Alina, Dieter's daughter, is delightful 😍 So are their relationships 🙂
Some larger economic issue's become raised during parts of this book. They are so relevant but so subtlety written that it almost passes you by as 'just part of a book' rather than actually highlighting an injustice that is perpetuated throughout the US & so many other Counties around the world. This author truly knows her craft & is clearly highly intelligent, how else could she keep these interwoven stories straight?? 😳😂
I really enjoyed 'In A Faraway Land' but due to its very nature it wasn't quite as 'full on' as episodes 1 & 2. It would've been overkill if it was & this author is just too skilled to fall into that pitfall, thankfully!!!👏
Another highly recommended read. Roll on 31st July '18 for 'At Midnight' to be released 🎉✨ You know this reader will be 1 clicking that pre-order button asap 😍💖💕
Once upon a time, I found the author Blair Babylon, and she hooked me on every book she graces us with, Flickas story is turning out to be a top favourite for the year, she has always been a favourite character in the books that I have read before. I will recommend the book to all who listen, so Grab your copy now and get sucked into this fantastic fictional world of Royalty This is going to be a vague review as I do not want to add anything to spoil it. I read this book at every opportunity and each page had me wondering if they would make it without that (insert your word for hidious ex here - mines not printable lol) Dieter has always been my fave of the side characters in these books and Flicka was too so when they got together it was my nirvana and I think I will be keeping this series as my all time Blair favourites. Now this story is hotting up and when you get to the end of this book these characters will have engrained themselves on your heart, omg I can't wait for the next book. Roll on July!
*** This review is my honest opinion, I have not received any compensation for reviewing it, it's just my thoughts after reading and I hope you found my thoughts useful***
A Review of In A Faraway Land (Flicka, Book 3) by Blair Babylon
Flicka and Dieter - 5+++++ Stars
In this book, we get to learn more about Dieter and his relationship with Flicka when she was younger and the two of them were living in Wulf's house in London while Wulf was living in the US. We know part of his secrets, but Flicka is still unaware of the truth for the most part. She starts to learn a little bit about his past and his secrets, but she doesn't want to face what she is starting to learn. I shed several tears over this book and the things that Flicka has had to deal with and how she is handling those issues. I can hardly wait for the next book to find out what happens next. Make sure you get this one as soon as you can or you will be disappointed. The books should really be read in order so that you have a full idea of the background and all the characters that are involved. I thoroughly enjoy Ms. Babylon's writing.

**Honest review voluntarily provided from a Complimentary Copy**
I'm a fan of Blair's work. I love her books. And this, right here, is a prime example of why that is.
I was on edge for the entirety of this book, waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was expecting a certain direction from this story, but the author didn't take it that way, and I enjoyed it all the more for that.
But this isn't just about a runaway princess. Although handled with a humorous slant and subtlety, there is an underlying narrative on the cost of living. Not preachy. Just present.
There are many high points in this tale. The Judge was one of these. (Saying no more - spoilers). But the shining star, the standout point is the love. It feels grounded and real and will make your heart beat just a little bit faster.
Wonderful.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Sometimes in life, extraordinary things happen to normal, everyday people. In In A Faraway Land, normal, everyday life happens to Flicka, and she becomes an even more extraordinary person.
Hiding out in Las Vegas waiting for her quickie divorce, Flicka becones the woman she has always wanted to be. She works hard everyday, brings joy to people's lives, falls in love, and much to her surprise, makes a wonderful connection with a toddler. So when a hysterical, venegance seeking judge grants her divorce; why is Flicka whisked away to be held prisoner again, but this time in Geneva?
Can't wait to see how Dieter gets them out of this mess!
I read an ARC of In A Faraway Land and willingly left this honest review.
Okay, so I read Book 1 and I thought I would be clever and save Book 2 to read with Book 3. Now I am finished with Books 1,2 and 3 and am stuck till July 31. Blair, you need to write faster! I love the Billionaires and Rock Stars in disguise books best of all. You have again sucked me right back into this world. Please just keep on writing this series. You make my day perfect with each new book and continually add to my list of books that can always be reread! Thanks, Hope
Once again the author have us a fantastic story! I enjoy how things that seem random aren't. There's still more to Dieter and Flicka's story. We get to see a few old favorites. Which is always fun! Yes, there's a cliffhanger of sorts but it's not a throw your Kindle kind of cliffy. It's the kind where you anxiously await for the next story! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Looking forward to the next one!
I received an ARC of this book. In this installment Flicka is beginning to heal from the trauma of her marriage, with the loving help of Dieter. She actually does become a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas and Dieter plays cards to be there to guard her. She even finds that she does ok watching Dieter's toddler daughter, and she seems to enjoy the little girl. There are more kidnapping attempts as they wait the given time to establish residency so she can file for her divorce. The court grants her petition but they run onto more trouble from another direction as they leave the courthouse. Oh, darn, now we have to wait for the next book to see what comes next!
This series has me so enthralled. How will they get out of the danger they are in and find their HEA. Flicka and Dieter are hiding..trying to stay safe. Can Flicka move on from the pain of her past? Will the secrets Dieter is hiding from her cause an issue? Start at book one and read them all. You will really be glad you did.
Blair’s books are always at the top of my “must read” list. This third book is no exception. Twisty intrigue make this continuation such an involved excellent story. Of course included is Blair’s signature romance and steam. There was a point I thought of the adage “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade”. Several places touch on current and overwhelming Economic issues. Do not miss this third in the series and if you have not read the first two, now is the time.
Edited 3/19/21 to add my comments on the audiobook. Overall – 5 Performance – 5 Story – 5
I’m really enjoying the voice actors for this series. Lucy Rivers does a great job with accents and so does Jason Clarke. If you are listening to this series without having first read it, I’m almost envious of you. I love this series so much but there’s nothing like experiencing it for the first time. I’m looking forward to listening to the next two books in this series.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Original review below:
This series just keeps getting better and better!
Blair Babylon writes books that keep me on the edge of my seat right from the beginning. She creates the most devious plot twists and after reading In A Faraway Land I am even more anxious to see what her mind comes up with for the next book in this series.
This installment finds Flicka and Dieter living in Las Vegas so that she can establish residency in order to obtain a divorce from her disgusting husband who is a prince in title only; he is definitely not a prince of a human being. I particularly liked the courtroom scene in this book.
I pretty much won't read books with cliffhangers but books by Blair Babylon are an exception. She has never failed to finish a series that contains cliffhangers and she finishes them rather quickly. Other authors are guilty of leaving their readers hanging for so long that you forget what the first book was even about. If you are phobic about cliffhangers, like I am, I encourage you to give Blair Babylon's books a try. Check out one of her completed series and I think you'll see what I mean about her writing; it's captivating and engrossing.
The next installment of Runaway Princess, At Midnight, comes out on July 31st and I can't wait to read it.
Although there are touches of happy, this is really a sad story with a lot of hurt. As we continue along with Flicka's tale, we find ourselves in Las Vegas as Deiter and Flicka try to remain under the radar and hidden from Pierre's security.
Flicka is trying to recover from Pierre's attack and just live. Deiter isn't happy with Flicka putting herself in the public daily as she tries to make enough money for their food and rent.
Their escape is shortlived, and Flicka is in danger once again.
I love how we are so emotionally invested in Flicka and Deiter. A couple we have been dying for in all the stories surrounding the Hannovers.
I am so looking forward to hearing Deiter's story more fully in the next in this series. And hopefully a HEA for these two!
Empathy, hope, romantic yearning, and suspense work together to make this read more than just a romance. It gives you this emotionally immersive experience that lingers long after you finish the final chapter.
She’s done it again. Ms. Babylon will keep you on the edge of your seat and won’t let you go. As soon as you think you know, Bam there’s a twist. I could not put this book down and cannot wait to see what happens next. The twists and turns are riveting and enthralling. I am leaving a voluntary review for an advanced copy of the book.
In A Faraway land is Flicka von Hannover’s story and is part 3 of a 5-part series. All must be read to understand and fully enjoy the series. As to be expected with any book by Blair Babylon, there are many twists and turns and of course a cliff-hanger!
Flicka has resided in Vegas for 6 weeks with her blonde protector to establish residency so she can Divorce the rapist, bigamist, soon to be ex-husband and aptly labelled Rat B&$(&£!, Prince Pierre Grimaldi.
Wow! Only a few chapters in and already my heart is torn. Blair my darling, my heart is bleeding, my skin prickles, goose bumps formed, and my eyes cry a shared pain. You left my heart and emotions so raw I felt naked before a crowd of hecklers. Such raw emotion on a page, only you can bring your readers to their knees for a character! Powerless, so aptly titled. The hand holding, touched my soul. I loved it! At certain points I still would’ve quite happily shaken Flicka for running off when told not to and being so lax about her security. Would Flicka not realise that Casinos have face recognition technology? I felt at times Flicka put herself and others in danger due to not thinking ahead. Many fans will know exactly what I mean when I say Flicka is as bad as her brother Wulf, when it comes to operational security! A simple game of Kitty Ha-Boo had me seeing a new side to Flicka. I smiled so much while reading it. I needed to see that side of her character. I read it twice!! I want to congratulate Blair on her portrayal of Alina. So many authors write children’s characters as much older than their age stated in their books. Yet Blair nailed it. By 88% of the way through I was crying my eyes out once again, just to have my emotions turned on their head and be led to one heck of a twist and cliff-hanger. I have never pre-ordered a series of books so fast as I have with Flickas. July cannot come quick enough.
Although I purchased a copy of my own (and pre-ordered the next!) I received an Advanced Readers Copy for my consideration and honest review!
In A Faraway Land takes us to what many consider a faraway land Las Vegas. Dieter is trying to keep Flicka safe as she tries to divorce her prince not so charming and move on with her life. The courtroom scene is particularly AMAZING as we continue on Flicka's Rollercoaster ride. Ms.Babylon outdoes herself in writing FANTASTIC stories with characters that we feel like we know so we invest in them and she does not disappoint when it comes to giving a return on our investment. I CAN'T WAIT for the next book to see what she has in store for us and where she's taking us as I already know the journey will be PHENOMENAL since I've read ALL of her books!! I would definitely recommend this book and series!!! I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is a story that I knew would be exciting when I first began reading of Flicka's disappearance in the Billionaires in Disguise series, but it just keeps getting more electrifying as we move through her story. This one focuses on Flicka and Deiter's survival in Las Vegas, how they keep from being recognized and her struggle with working for a living. It shows us a vulnerable side of her, not only as a member of the aristocracy but as a woman who has been through the most difficult moments of her life. But there's something about her that endears the reader to her, and to watch her navigate through her life as it is gives us a fresh view of this woman of many talents.
And Deiter has secrets of his own. As he does what he can to help earn money for their little "family," he also keeps a sharp eye on the woman who continues to mean more to him as time moves on. He's not only protecting her from a loveless marriage to an abusive husband but from those who would threaten the ones he loves most in order to bring him back to a life he fought to escape.
This book is one adventure after another. It has sweet moments when we can feel the love these two have for each other with steamy, sensational scenes that leave us breathless. And it has intriguing and terrifying scenes when we wonder whether she is going to slip from his hands. It's breathtaking, intriguing and thrilling and leaves us with a hunger for the rest of the story. I can hardly wait.
Honestly, there is no author that frustrates me more than Blair Babylon. She is a literary genius and the QUEEN of cliffhangers!!! I have never been left salivating for knowledge of what happens next more than when I have read any of the books written by her, and trust me, I have read every single one of them. I will try to be patient while I wait for the next installment in Flicka's series due out in a month but it will be incredibly difficult. I already know that I will obsessively think about Dieter/Raphael's family and upbringing; wonder constantly if Pierre will finally succeed in kidnapping Flicka and dragging her back to Monaco; dream about whether Dieter and Flicka can ever come out publically with their love for one another-- and if either will live through Wulf's wrath when he discovers all of the lies which have be protecting the truth.
Inquiring minds need to know, Ms.Babylon!!! Your cliffhangers could possibly kill a girl due to prolonged periods of insatiable curiosity.
I received an Advanced Read Copy of this book, loved it so much, I bought it.... and I also pre-ordered the next installment. Have I mentioned yet that I simply can't wait? LOL
Flicka trying to divorce Pierre is not a walk in the park. I do Love Flicka’s commitment for trying to make the money they need to survive. This is the third book of this series. All of Blair’s books are so interesting and so well written. Read this series.
I couldn't wait to see what happened next with Flicka's story and I am left in the same position at that end of this installment. I liked how we learned more about Dieter's past as the pair navigate life as a commoner without the excesses that Flicka was used to in her royal lifestyle. There were a few twists in this story that I did not expect but have now kept me hooked to this story. I can't wait to see what happens next in this story! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Gosh this book was terrific! I wish that I could give it more than 5 stars. Blair Babylon is perhaps my favorite author. I have purchased all of her books and read and re-read them all.
This third book starts out a bit differently than the others. The first two books were written chapter by chapter from either Dieter's or Flicka's perspective. This one takes an unexpected turn, giving us a take on Prince Pierre Grimaldi's own views on the vicissitudes of life for him. He complains about the expectations and difficulties of life as a prince. I loved his statement that his cousins who might have inherited 'swan off to follow their life in The Church, or as a Rockstar'. His cousin Christine, being a female is ineligible. He makes several references to raping, either as omitted possibilities in fairy tales or the droit du seigneur or the older jus primae Noctis, where the local king or other lord would have the right to the virgin bride before her own husband. At the end of his rant, he states that he always wanted the throne and all it stood for. No repentance here.
What an unusual beginning for this book. The action is fast-paced, as usual. It is filled with danger, attempted kidnappings of Flicka, Dieter trying to help Flicka past the PTSD trauma inflicted upon her by the physical damage done to her by Pierre and his head of security, trying to survive as very poor commoners, ignoring Dieter's demands that she just stay in their room with the door locked. Yeah, knowing Flicka's tendency to slip her security details, that will never happen.
What I take away from this book, is that no matter our background, one can change the outcome from what looks like hopeless despair to a glorious interlude, at least until the next crisis. Flicka and Dieter utilize their past skills to manage quite well. Flicka surprises herself with her ability to take care of a toddler to both Dieter and her delight. More of the pieces of Dieter's past are being uncovered. He is more than a mercenary, he is a devoted and capable Father, and a caring lover to Flicka.
Only about three weeks to go until the fourth book is released! While I anxiously wait, I think I will read all the books over again, this time in the suggested order! If you have yet to try one of Blair Babylon's books, your life is not complete! Go get Runaway Princess series, but you should read them in order. FIVE FABULOUS STARS!!!

Bastien is in the van as well.. Flicka never met him before working in the casinos and never knew his last name... she realises they are being kidnapped. I liked how she never had to do anything for herself before but she handles each new experience with the same grace she used as a princess. She surprises herself that she is actually good at many things.. including looking after Alina..

Flicka, our Runaway Princess's journey continues in this brilliantly written third instalment. With each book, the series gets better and better. The storyline is a wholly addictive and engaging adventure, packed with drama, humour, suspense, danger, passion, and steam. Now, living in the simple life in Las Vegas, one thing is on Flicka, and Dieter mind is getting a divorce from the cheating Prince Pierre (a.k.a heel). Unfortunately, the heel's secret service are relentless in their pursuit but not as determined as Flica and her protector, Dieter.
Aside from the thoroughly exciting and fast-paced plot, Flicka and Dieter are my favourite part of this series. They are memorable, likeable, and multifaceted; their many layers, such as vulnerabilities and strength, are revealed. Their connection is one of mutual trust, love, desire, and passion with undeniable chemistry. Lucy Rivers and Jason Clarke's narration was flawless. In addition to having attractive voices, they captured the distinctive accents, expression and emotions, literally breathing life into this series.
The ending was something else, and the fourth book can't come soon enough. Overall, In a Faraway Land was a fabulous and adventurous listen, one I'll wholeheartedly recommend.
