I believe in love. It just doesn’t believe in me.

I date. I’m all for giving guys a chance. I’ve just never met the one.

Until on a spring morning in the English countryside, a tall, dark stranger emerges from the mist. Logan Steele is all tousled hair, hard chest and lips so perfect I want to reach out and touch them just to check they’re real. I’m sure that’s a thunderclap of chemistry I feel between us.

Did I mention he’s an Earl with a self-made fortune?

A billionaire who works tirelessly for charity?

And he’s so hot, watching him is like staring at the sun.

But like I said, love isn’t rooting for me.

When I find out Logan Steele is out to destroy everything I’ve dedicated my life to protect, the chemistry disappears and the hope that had blossomed my chest turns to rage.

It no longer matters that he quickens my pulse just saying my name, weakens my knees with a single touch and that he might just be the greatest kisser that ever lived.

I might believe in love but Logan Steele is definitely not the one.

I adored this story, I curled up and just enjoyed every minute. Louise Bay has written a lovely story, with great characters, lots of romance, some misunderstanding and some very hot sex. What more could a girl want?

Well, she could want her own Earl of London of course! Logan Steele is that Earl, he is a confident, sexy, entrepreneur, who knows what he wants in life and that is not a steady relationship, roots or family. I really took to him though, he is determined but not ruthless, a charmer, with that confident edge, so what's not to like.

Darcy is the lady of the manor, well nearly, she runs the estate for her brother, but it is her life, her sanctuary and she is determined to keep her home and the village the safe, wonderful place she has always known. I loved Darcy, she is unpretentious, caring and a bit of a force to be reckoned with. The characters play off each other so well that you can't wait to find out what happens next.

I laughed, cried a little, smiled a lot and couldn't put this story down. If you are after a well written book to read with great characters and a lovely ending then you need this one right now!

If Jane Austen had been born this century, she would have written The Earl of London. Louise Bay masterfully crafts a romance between a hard, jaded businessman who hides his heart of gold and a sweet english rose who wears her on her sleeve. Darcy, Ryder’s sister (Duke of Manhattan) loves her countryside village and is very wary when she hears that the new owner of the house next door is a shark known to destroy businesses for a profit.
The characters are realistic, their chemistry, volatile (like, I literally gasped and stopped breathing at a touch of his leg against her thigh!).

Darcy is hilarious. I honestly could imagine her with a bonnet, the way she talked. Living in the English countryside myself, I can attest that most people are pretty much exactly like that toward strangers, so it made her very real. She evolves throughout the book, not unlike Elizabeth Bennet, as she realizes she’s been a little prejudiced.
As for Logan, he isn’t without faults; his upbringing made him focused, determined, and a little self-centered. What I absolutely love is that Darcy never hesitates to call him out on it. In short, they both have a way to go before they can work as a couple. Reading their journey as they butt heads, clash, flirt, insult each other, and ultimately fall head over the heels for each other was addictive; I had to read it all in one go.
TL;DR: sassy, confident woman, sexy alpha who doesn't take no for an answer. one click this right now! You won't regret it ;)

“I knew who I was and what I was capable of. I understood that however amazing tonight had been, this was where it ended. Because it was all I had to give.”

The Earl of London by Louise Bay is a sexy ‘enemies-to-lovers’ standalone romance that had me intrigued from the very beginning! This steamy love story was impossible to put down and I knew, from the very beginning, that I was going to devour Darcy and Logan’s story in one sitting. I loved the whole antagonistic vibe between the two main characters. I enjoyed the push/pull dynamic that kept the story fresh and exciting. The banter, the chemistry, the tension…it was all just SO GOOD!

I always love diving into a Louise Bay romance! They are always such sweet, sexy, and romantic page-turners! They make you feel good. They make you feel light. They bring me to my happy place. Not too much angst, but enough to keep you captivated and invested, The Earl of London is a romance read you won’t want to miss. Whether you’ve read Louise Bay already or not, this book has something for every romance reader out there. It will make you laugh, smile, scream, shout, and blush! If you’re looking for a sweet and spicy romance that will keep you hooked the whole way through, be sure to pick up Darcy and Logan’s story ASAP! You won’t be disappointed!

Is it what modern women find attractive?
A pseudo alpha, who likes to debase strong women???

"I liked high-powered female executives who crawled across the room to earn my dick in their mouth."

I know it’s fiction, but it’s not a PNR or a fantasy (or was it?), and some piece of realism would make this story more plausible.

Because what a successful, intelligent, powerful woman would ever descent to any sexual act with such abhorrent disrespectful narcissistic POS???
I know none. Do you?

The smaller the balls the bigger the ego?!?

Of course our sweet and pseudo cool heroine was different, completely different! And it’s not important, that he compared her to all women he used to f*ck, and even if she wasn’t his type (not a perfect body, not sophisticated enough, etc) she managed to capture his cold heart (or was it his d*ck?) and to change him (even after a big fuck up from his side, but who cares?!). Also with help of her very ‘smart’ and ‘kind’ friends, who repeatedly pointed out, that he was very good looking (who needs anything else?!); and how ‘friendly’ they pushed her toward her fairy tale with him! *dreamy sigh* Incredible! Who needs enemies with such lovely friends?..

‘Good girl’ – his words, not mine.
‘Good girl’ + some domineering crap in a bedroom is what a woman of 21st century craves!

What would make us, silly weak females, feel better than a knowledge that we are the chosen ones, even if the process of tasting left numerous ‘unworthy leftovers’ – they chose us, so let’s learn to crawl!

5 star Review The Earl of London by Louise Bay

Logan Steele, just the name sent shivers up and down my spine; I have been waiting for Darcy Westbury’s story and couldn’t wait to dive in.

Where do I start? From chapter one I was hooked. Logan Steele is a rich, powerful, determined man; he gets what and who he wants, when he wants. When he buys as estate in a little village, Darcy becomes his neighbour and the sparks fly from there.

Both Darcy and Logan are independent and strong characters and I found them likeable and easy to relate to. Well to be honest, I have loved Darcy ever since she was first introduced way back, there was just something about the pairing of Logan and Darcy that drew me to them and their story.

The story was well written, engaging and it was great to see the dynamic between the two of them and there was so much to love about Ms.Bay’s characters. The chemistry between Logan and Darcy is off the charts even though neither want to admit to it.

Darcy makes me laugh, there is just so much humour in her and some of the best moments throughout the book are when she calls Logan on his attitude and behaviour. For these two to make a success as a couple there was plenty of give and take required from both Logan and Darcy as neither were “perfect”.

Ms.Bay wove a story that had me invested right from the start.

I'm not sure I liked it as much...

I can't put my finger on why, but this re-read/listen was a little harder than the rest in the series. While there bits and pieces that I loved, there were also parts that left me unsure of this couples longevity. I guess listening or maybe because I'm re-reading/listening highlighted both Darcy and Logan's weaknesses.

Funny thing ... more so in my audiobooks, I find myself frustrated to not be able to voice feedback on bad decisions by the characters. When they do stupid bloody things, I want to give them a good talking to. I can tell you, I wanted to pull Shane East aside (Sorry, Shane, you voiced him so you have to pay for Logan's IDIOTIC decision making), and blast him for even THINKING he could replace Darcy so easily. Then, I wanted to kindly (in a very firm way) tell Imogen Church (well, I can't exactly lecture a book character, can I?) that she needed to stop being a scaredy-cat. Obviously, I can't do that (I don't want to annoy my favourite narrators), so I have to vent here instead.

I did enjoy my listen and I'm sad that this series has come to an end. No change in my ratings as even when Shane East ... I mean Logan is being a douchewaffle, Shane's voice will soothe any difficulties. I'll miss The Royals but hopefully, Louise Bay will give me more Poms to fall in love with in the future.

Arrogant and pompous…just the way I love them

Louise Bay manages to take parts of my favourite historical romance heroes and bring them to the now. I’m a little bit of a sucker for a hero who has the stoic outward façade that hides his gooey insides. Sure, the gooey inside takes a long time to get to because the outside is hard, brittle and multi-layered but it's so worth the effort. The words, feelings and actions of the heroes are sigh-worthy and make my heart flutter. They may be arrogant and pompous but they're also bossy, intriguing and very sexy.

So, I’m telling you that Louise Bay writes a brilliant historical romance set in a modern-day setting. How ironic is it then that the heroine’s name is Darcy? I had to keep reminding myself that Colin Firth wasn’t walking through the fields looking for his Elizabeth. This Darcy, well she loves a good romp in the fields. Low and behold, while romping the good romp, she falls face first in the mud right in front of a good-looking man. Darcy can't believe that this good-looking man dares to romp at the same time in the same place as her romp...the nerve.

Logan is walking the fields of his newly acquired estate when he comes across an intruder covered in mud. With quick thinking, Logan manages to catch the woman’s horse before it does a runner. This woman is not his usual type, too short and curvy, but there’s something tempting about her. Logan is interested in her in an *I wonder if she follows instructions in the bedroom* way. Unfortunately, it seems that she couldn’t give two figs about him. First time for everything….

Darcy is an intelligent, strong-minded and determined young woman who is scared to fall in love with someone who could leave her. Logan is a handsome, smooth-talking and successful man who is scared to fall in love with someone who could become dependent on him. You guessed it…their families messed with their minds. It’s going to take a wee bit of soul-searching and some help from family and friends for them to see that love is worth the risk.

I found The Earl of London thoroughly entertaining. The characters were interesting, the storyline kept my attention and the sexy times were HOT!! There’s a little bit of angst spread throughout the story and I was convinced that Logan was about to ruin it all. Luckily for him, he got his head screwed on in time and managed to only get a squinty eye instead of a death glare from me. Darcy very nearly threw it all away for a pleather wearing Elvis but was saved by the bell in the nick of time. Elvis was hot (literally) but he definitely isn't Logan.

I absolutely love this series (that’s not really a series) and highly recommend The Earl of London. Each of the books can be read as a standalone but some of the characters pop up in each other’s books. I’m pretty sure I started with The King of Wall Street but if you were to pick one book to read ahead of The Earl of London, I’d probably go for The Duke of Manhattan because the Duke is Darcy’s brother. Mind you, they’re all bloody good so read them all. Then you can come back to me to thank me, so I can tell you “I told you so…”

I'm kinda hoping Aurora will get her own HEA...pretty please with sugar on the top.

I have been a huge fan of Louise Bay for several years now. I love the intensity that Louise creates for her characters. The intense passion and connections are what sets her apart from other writers.

However, for some reason, I missed the intensity in this book. I love the characters that she created, but I didn’t feel that burning, yearning desire and heat that she normally brings to us.

The Earl was a powerhouse in town but in the countryside he elected to be buttery and soft. Darcy had the upper hand and he only strove to make her happy and to satisfy her needs. Not that it is bad, but it also took away from the dominant factor that could make this so much hotter.

While I absolutely loved the story, for me something was missing that takes it into another level – that five star reach. Louise Bay is still a favorite writer of mine. I just didn’t connect as well in the story like I normally do. I miss the gasps, the tears, and the deep intense passion.

4.5 'Count on me' Stars!
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Louise Bay is the queen of yummy and delicious British heroes. I fell in love with her books a few years ago and since then I can’t stop reading whatever she releases. Well, her newest release is out today and I do have to say, I was so excited about it! Finally, we get Darcy’s story and, oh yes, it was SO worth the wait! Louise keeps killing it with the stories around all these amazing characters she has created and this one was no exception.

So, The Earl of London is, as I said, Louise Bay’s newest release. Yes, it can totally be read as a standalone novel. But also yes, if you have read the previous books around this world, I do believe you will enjoy this even more. Now, this is the love story between Darcy Westbury and Logan Steele. These two have a hilarious and full of chemistry first meeting and they find themselves very much attracted to one another. However, that changes when Darcy discovers that her new neighbor is about to “destroy” her beloved home town. Is Logan as ruthless as he seems to be? Is Darcy ready to fight against the weird and new feelings Logan provokes in her? Will they continue being enemies or will love find its way? Read this wonderful book to find out 😉

She was all fire on the outside and cool breeze on the inside, and I wanted to dive in and experience it all.

I just fell completely in love with this couple. I love a strong-minded heroine and I also love a reluctant-to-love hero. Logan and Darcy are quite different from one another but that does not stop them from having lots of chemistry. I am a fan of enemies to lovers romance and The Earl of London was such a good example! I am also a huge fan of secondary characters. I loved Logan’s grandma, I loved Darcy’s family and friends and I loved seeing characters from the previous books. But, of course, the best part about this novel is the couple. My God, these two are explosive together! And yes, it gets even better when love finds its way. I adored the ending. I love a hero that knows how to sweep the heroine off her feet. Logan and Darcy are simply an amazing couple and I am so happy they found their happiness together!

I’d never felt so connected to someone, so completely in tune with a man. I wanted him. I wanted everything with him.

I couldn’t bear the thought of not loving Darcy Westbury for the rest of my life.

Therefore, my rating for The Earl of London is 4.5 STARS because I just enjoyed how amazingly this love story developed. Full of sexual tension, emotions and super-hot chemistry: who is complaining? Not this girl! Darcy and Logan are perfect together, they have a beautiful relationship and I hopelessly enjoyed the way Louise Bay ended this book. Gah, I love a good happy ending! I do hope we get even more stories about the new characters we met because I simply want more. Highly recommend!

I can't say this was my favorite book in this non-series of connected standalone books (side note: why isn't this a series?). I liked the premise behind it and went into it excited to get more Darcy since I liked her in her brothers book. But in her own book I just didn't like her very much. The beginning of the story had me rolling my eyes at how crazed she seemed about not changing her village and it just didn't make her easy to connect to. And the change in how she felt about Logan seemed to only come once she got her way. It just made her seem a little bratty in my eyes.

And then we had Logan who I never felt like I actually knew. The two came together and I just didn't feel the romance between them which made it hard to enjoy their story. Overall, I think it just wasn't a book that was for me but I do think it's one most other people will enjoy.

Luv a strong woman!

I enjoyed this book. Darcy is a brilliant character she is a strong woman who knows what she wants. She hasn't had the best up bringing but her grandparents and brother have always been there for. Know with it only being her brother she was very independent. He has had life in the US and she still luvs in Woolton. It was home and alway would be, the small town meant so much to get and her brother. But Darcy was the one that was alway there everyone knew her and she helped build the village up. She was luvd by everyone. She is such a sweet and caring woman. But if you got on her wrong side beware the claws will come out.

Logan is a very sexy character I find that this author really knows how to do a sexy strong alpha man and then throw in that he is English and we are on to a winner. Logan fits all that plus more. He is cocky and knows what he wants. Once he has seen Darcy he knows there is something about her she isn't is typical woman but she was beautiful and didn't take his crap. He wasn't used to this but it was something he couldn't get enough of. There is a sweet side to Logan the only family he had left was his grandmother and he idolized her. She has been his life since he was little and she meant the world to him. I really luvd this about him.

This book was good, I enjoyed it from the start. The 2 main characters are really good. I did enjoy the chase between them. They are quite a like in ways, they both push each other's buttons. When they finally stopping fighting the attraction between them they were so hot together. I really liked them together they made a good team once they worked together. It was also great to get a lil bit more of Ryder Scarlett and Violet. I really enjoyed there books so it was good to get more of them. I would recommend this book I enjoyed the story it had a great flow to it. I luvd getting both pov's it was good getting into both of there heads. I'am wondering if Aurora Darcy's friend will get a book I m curious about her. So I m hoping there well be more from her.

The Earl of London is a standalone romance, but somehow part of a “series”, since we’ve known the heroine and her best friend Aurora from Duke of Manhattan and there’s also King of Wall Street, The British Knight and Park Avenue Prince .

The Earl of London is Logan Steele, CEO of Steele Enterprises, self-made billionaire, who happens to buy a beautiful estate in a village near London, his grandmother’s childhood home, and ends up falling in love with his neighbor, Darcy Westbury, who runs the family estate “next door”.

Although he’s a the classic playboy/manwhore/commitment-phobe who only fucks a woman once and isn’t interested in more, he’s drawn to Darcy and doesn’t know what hit him until it’s too late.

Now, here’s why I gave it 4★. First of all, I needed about a quarter of the book to get invested in the story and its characters. It took me a long time to like Darcy and to understand her obsession with the village and preserving things and why she was being so reluctant to change. Also, Logan. This type of hero is impossible to love in the beginning, when he seems shallow and egoistic. But then, things change for the better.

Darcy’s spiky personality, calling Logan on his bullshit and being funny without even trying, made me fall in love with her. Her determination and strong character were things to admire as well. As for Logan, well, I will remember him by being commanding in the bedroom and by patching things up really nicely in the end, after he pulled his head out of his ass, that is. Also, his many character layers are interesting to discover page by page.

I found the story just a tiny bit “cliche-istic”, especially when it came to the way the hero was built and his actions, but i admit it was intriguing and good enough for me not to be able to put it down. I’ve read it in one sitting without getting bored or rolling my eyes.

So, if this is your first Louise Bay book, don’t hesitate to buy it and read it. If you’re familiar with this author’s previous books, then you’ll know what to expect and you won’t be disappointed, so again, go ahead, but the book and read it.

Big thanks to the author for giving me this ARC, in exchange for an honest review. Love you, Louise Bay!

It would be an absolute honor to have you as my guest on my blog too. Stop by anytime you want :)

I just love Louise’s books. They instantly pull me in within the first few chapters and not only does she write men that are hot hot hot but I love that her female characters are strong independent women who take no prisoners where their men are concerned.

Darcy is a character who’s story I’ve been looking forward to after glimpses of her in other books and I have been dying for her to find love. Having run the Westbury estate for so long even before her grandfather died, she is fiercely independent in every way and protective of the village and Home she grew up in and is not about to let anyone ruin it !

Logan initially comes across as your typical alpha male who uses women for his own needs but there is so much more to him then that. Under all that exterior is a man who will do anything for his grandmother including buy back the home she lost years before and his devotion to her is one of the things I loved about him along with how totally swoon worthy he was.

These two are the perfect match in so many ways and you could just see them hurtling head long into a relationship that neither of them realised they wanted or even needed. It was a bumpy ride, but they got there in the end and i loved seeing how it changed them both !

Another fantastic read from Louise and one I would certainly recommend

Agh! Darcy finally got her HEA! The story was sweet and spicy and completely enjoyable in Louise’s unique way. I loved the characters and enjoyed watching them work through their individual fears. Logan tried to keep his tough exterior, but Darcy managed to squeeze in and hold a place in his heart just like his granny. Can’t wait to see more of these characters in future books!

I should start by saying that so far I've more or less liked all the books by Louise Bay that I've read.

But the same really cannot be said about this one. More than that, I don't remember the last time reading something made me so anxious and pretty much physically ill.

Why, you ask? Because of stuff like this -
(ladies and gentlemen, meet Logan aka Earl of Jackasses)

"I liked high-powered female executives who crawled across the room to earn my dick in their mouth."

"Stay where you are, on your knees-it suits you."

"Nothing better than a female hedge fund manager who oversaw assets of hundreds of mlns of euros and was used to putting men in their place letting me do whatever I wanted to her."

"...keep doing what you're told and you'll get plenty of my cock"

"...when we're fucking, I'm in charge. There's no room for debate. Nothing's up for discussion. You will do what I say, when I say it, how I say it."

"This is my body while we are together like this. You don't get to cover it up. It's mine to inspect, to worship, to use, to fuck. You've given it to me."

So yeah, this is Logan. He's "the alpha male" who just loves control and powerful independent women but what he really loves is degrading those powerful women because, and I can only assume, it's the only way HE can feel powerful.

Darcy, Ryder's sister (from "Duke of Manhattan"), is one of such powerful women. She's not exactly Logan's type though - sure, she is independent and headstrong but at the same time, she's not a sophisticated city girl with a body sculpted by regular visits to the gym, something that Logan mentions quite a few times. Still, she manages to capture Logan's attention, exactly because she is just SO DIFFERENT from all these other women who love crawling to get some of Logan's D.

Look, I might be harsher than I should be perhaps, but one trope that I think is really overplayed is this idea that if a woman is high-powered, successful, driven and in full control of her everyday/professional life, then ALL she dreams about is to be "put in her place" / dominated in bed. Like, I know this is something that does happen and there is NOTHING wrong with it, but I'm just saying it's been used so many times, it feels like a "go-to" sex fantasy for romance writers and it starts to sounds more like Psychology 101 and gross simplification of something that is in fact very layered area - sexual fantasies and why we like what we like in bed.

But I'm getting slightly off-topic. The thing is, despite this concept being overused, I truly wouldn't have problem with it if Logan was written differently and by differently, I mean better. Because there is being dominating and there is being degrading and the quotes I shared above make it clear to me which category he falls into. Plus, I don't care if you're into BDSM or just "controlling" in bed - saying shit like "no room for debate when we have sex" is a huge NO-NO for me. At least make sure to have a freaking safe word!!!

What's more frustrating is that it could've been a good book. So much potential for an engaging enemies-to-lovers story. Despite his disgusting comments, Logan is written as pretty thoughtful and caring and someone who could've been likeable. Unfortunately, he ends up as a poor excuse for an alpha male - in my opinion, that's just not how you write one. A true alpha male wouldn't feel the need to degrade women with his dismissive behaviour and comments like "stay on your knees where you belong".

Anyway, the male character wasn't the only problem with this book. When it comes to romance part, it just wasn't there? I didn't feel the connection between the characters at all. One second they were "living in the moment", next they were all in and then all out after a pregnancy scare. Although they had some conversations that fell into "getting to know each other" category and were supposed to feel meaningful, overall it fell flat.

This is the first book of this author that I'm so disappointed with. It certainly wasn't worth the nerves and stress I went through when reading it, but once I hit halfway mark, there was no turning back, at least according to my stupid stubborn brain. Anyway, I might delve into next Louise Bay novel but I know I will proceed with caution from now on.

Whenever I’m finished reading this author’s most recent release, I fall in love with England, over and over again. In unique ways, this story provides an intriguing historical romance meets modern England vibe, with an enemies to lovers theme weaved throughout, an antagonistic hero and passionate heroine reminiscent of Jane Austen’s novels.

I knew who I was and what I was capable of. I understood that however amazing tonight had been, this was where it ended. Because it was all I had to give.

During my trip to England, I also fell in love with its countryside. From green endless forests and rolling hills, to the beautifully crafted quaint houses, it is difficult to find fault with it.

I totally understand Darcy Westbury’s irrevocable love for her hometown and the strong, childhood memories she associates with it. However, whenever she was questioned as to why she wanted to preserve her home’s natural state, words seemed to escape her. I couldn’t understand her obsession with keeping everything as is.

Darcy’s personality became tolerable maybe halfway through, when her strong, admirable characteristics started to shine. But, the only reason her character became easy to like is because she changed her opinions on Logan Steele. Prior to changing, she comes across as awfully immature and condescending, turning everything into some kind of debate or pettish game simply because she cannot accept change.

She was all fire on the outside and cool breeze on the inside, and I wanted to dive in and experience it all.

Logan is someone you’ll either love or hate. In some aspects, he comes across as unfeeling and disinterested, especially within business, as his childhood has transformed him into someone determined, arrogant and self-centred. He isn’t difficult to understand. Rather he is difficult to love because, similar to Darcy, he doesn’t change until halfway. Before that, he is crass. An awfully cliche wealthy businessman.

Thankfully, I haven’t been reading many cliche stories, so my patience for this was high. I don’t mind a manwhore anyway; I do mind reading what he does with others in explicit detail though. And this was almost borderline.

Personalities aside, Darcy and Logan transform as individuals, as well as together. They have interesting chemistry that’s quite tantalizing (ignoring Logan’s constant usage of “good girl”).

It was the normal story of a playboy who is rich and intitled. He wants to brace his past by building a new business in a village.
The girl is way too traditional and wants to save the heritage of her village and her family.

They had a flicker of lust at first sight then fell into something deeper.
Then what...their different ambitions, goals, sights for future made things difficult.

As much as I convinced myself otherwise I wasn't in the mood to read something lightly emotion-ed. Maybe because for past few weeks I've been reading really strong emotions inflicted books. Also this series isn't much promising. Common stuff😰

The Earl of London is book 5 of The Royals series by Louise Bay. It is a standalone, contemporary romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Tropes:
✔️ frienemies to lovers
✔️ British hero & heroine
✔️ reformed rake
✔️ rags to riches hero
✔️ small town

I listened to this book and felt like I was in a modern and fresh take on a Jane Austen based movie. I loved the described scenery, the character development was skillfully done, I enjoyed the main characters as much as the supporting ones. And the romance was fantastic! It wasn’t quite enemies to lovers but also not friends to lovers and oh boy were the sexy times sizzzzling hot.

Darcy and Logan’s story left me with a warm fuzzy feeling and a desire to read more about them. So basically a great book hangover.

Also worth mentioning is that I just realized that I’ve finished this series and read it all out of order, but my overall enjoyment wasn’t affected by this. Meaning that although fans of the series will love getting glimpses of characters from past books, each couple’s story can be read as a complete standalone.

‘It hadn’t been an ordinary kiss. .It was the kind you carried with you your whole life, trying to find another that lived up to such promise.’

We’ve have been wanting to read Louise Bay’s work for some time, and after meeting the author at a signing earlier this year, her contagious passion for her books made us very excited for The Earl of London. The first thing we said when we finished? Why have we taken so long to read this author!

We loved this story – the quaint village surroundings, the friendly personable characters, the romance, the passionate and incredibly hot sex, the intensely heart gripping emotion and the relationship angst kept us glued to our Kindles.

Thirty five year old Logan Steele is a rich, handsome earl who despite his title and financial status, didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth. Logan is wealthy and earned his money through hard work and sound business decisions in his company Steele Enterprises. Despite his wealth and title, Logan grew up in meagre surroundings and had to struggle through life. In his words, his childhood had been ‘sad, chaotic and turbulent.’ Logan purchases the sprawling Badsley House for his Grandmother, which was her childhood home, in the picturesque Woolton Village.

He stumbles across Darcy Westbury who lives in the adjoining Woolton Hall. Twenty eight year old Darcy is committed to the estate and passionate about preserving her family’s legacy, maintaining the quaintness and charm of the village, so when city slicker Logan Steele has plans to build a club on part of his estate, you can bet Darcy has objections. Darcy is sweet but she’s no pushover and stands her ground with the pushy Logan Steele.

‘I had grown to love the man who was pulling my heart apart, and love wasn’t temporary. Not for me.’

The sexual chemistry between Darcy and Logan is off the charts and Logan’s dominating ways in the bedroom were crazy hot. The Earl and the Duke’s granddaughter, it should be a match made in heaven right? Well, it should be, however, both Logan and Darcy are plagued by their pasts.

When we say we felt the emotion in this story, we mean we felt the full on knots in the tummy, goosebumps, and shiver reaction. We felt everything and dear god, our hearts went out to Darcy. As Darcy found her way into Logan’s heart, we wondered if Logan would be able to shake off his ghosts of the past.

If you’re after a sweet, sexy, captivating, swoony and emotional story you can’t go wrong with The Earl of London. Our first taste of Louise Bay’s writing in the irresistible and angsty The Earl of London delivered everything we love in a story, and has made us desperate to read more from her!

“What?” she asked, and I realized I was staring at her.
“Nothing. Just taking it all in.”
“Taking what in?”
“You?”

This review may contain SPOILERS!
Darcy and Logan's story was incredibly adorable and moving. I especially liked how Darcy always was this pragmatic and genuine character, that didn't need the extra drama or attention when a problematic situation presented itself. The thing is that the drama towards the end, went over fairly quickly but than again I thought that the time spent apart was enough for them to become aware of their problems and work on them in the future. One, itsy-bitsy critique I have is maybe keeping the dominant streak of the male protagonists a little more diverse, because a lot of the male characters from his author have a similar taste when it comes to intimacy which makes these parts of the book very one-dimensional and without variety, which is a shame. I still think this was a great story though so don't get me wrong, but a little something different here and there wouldn't have hurt the story. A great ending though, would've loved for one more story about Aurora!

A delightful, funny and sexy tale of true love and old English estates.

Louise Bay writes with such vitality that all the characters are instantly brought to life. This story focuses on the characters feelings and it gave me a warm feeling from the first word. The hero, Logan Steele has built a business empire. And yet buying his grandmother’s childhood home back has been his lifetime’s ambition. His new property borders on Darcy Westbury’s family estate. The land has been in her family for generations and she feels it’s her responsibility to maintain it for future Westbury generations. She is afraid her charming new neighbor is a weekender with more money than sense, who has no intention to take part in village life.

The character development is terrific in this book. I very much enjoyed reading about the irresistible attraction between these two seemingly opposite characters. I absolutely loved the sexual tension between them throughout.

Darcy fully intends to defeat Logan's plans, to make the village into a tourist destination. She enjoys her life in the peaceful and picturesque village where she grew up and wants to preserve it from the likes of Logan Steele who see its beauty as a business opportunity.

As the story unfolds and the reader gets to know both Darcy and Logan, my initial impressions of them changed. Logan starts out as something of a cold and enigmatic character, often appearing arrogant. Darcy has an air of mystery to her, she is strong willed and yet at times appears quite vulnerable.

Darcy isn’t impressed with Logan’s money or status and yet he turns out to be a very different man than she expected. He has a terrific sense of humor, he is willing to listen to other points of view, he is honest and considerate. Logan loves that she challenges him at every turn, it makes for a refreshing change. Their banter was hilarious at times.

The Earl of London was a sexy enemies-to-lovers story with a few twists and turns, a mysterious, charming and misunderstood hero and a delightful heroine who deserves to find happiness. This story is set in the world of "Duke of Manhattan" but can be read as a standalone.

I've really enjoyed to read this book.
I'm in awe of Louise Bay talent to write always new stories that feel unique and fresh.

It was interesting to follow Darcy and Logan journey, the sister of a Duke the first and a city billionaire the other.
They are enemies from the beginning because our heroine wants to keep her village as still as it was when she was little while our hero wants to increase the number of tourists in the countryside. They are both so stubborn and they don't want to give in to the other idea but they can't also deny the chemestry and sexual tension between them.
Are they really so different they can't be friends? Or will they find a way to agree on a common ground and be something more?

I waited to read Darcy's story for so long and I think she got the best man she deserved.
We met our heroine in the previous books in the series but you can definitely read and appreciate The Earl Of London as a stand-alone.

I have to say that I’ve loved each of the guys from this stand-alone series, but I think Logan has claimed the #1 spot as my favorite. He was such an amazing guy when he wasn’t trapped in his head behind all his fears. And Darcy Westbury was a true force on her own.

With Lance, he was spending his whole life trying to undo what his father did to the family name and make his grandmother proud. Oh, the relationship he had with her was so freaking sweet and adorable. He was a good guy who was stuck battling outside opinions of what people thought of him. Darcy was included on that list. Assumptions were made based on his business suit wearing persona. He did well for himself and was a formidable businessman but he was also honorable and had integrity.

Darcy is the lady of Woolton Hall and sister to Ryder Westbury (you can read his story in Duke of Manhattan). She loves country life her her quaint little village. The people look to her for guidance and she’s there to help preserve their way of life and traditions. She’s also very independent, strong willed, pragmatic and a straight shooter.

These two together is a meeting of similar personalities and a puzzle to them both - because neither is anything like the type they would usually give a second glance to...but they are just PERFECT for each other. *swoon*

I fell in love with these characters from the beginning and continued to fall deeper as I read their story. The British countryside described along with their little romance truly transported me to their world and it was a trip I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a fantastic read.
