Hunter Brothers #1-4

The Hunter Brothers Box Set

Rate this book
Four brothers. Four stories. Four happy-ever-afters?

JAX: I've always done what's expected of me, run Hunter Enterprises the way Grandfather wanted, but when I stepped into Club Privé, I saw something I wanted for myself. I wouldn't let anything keep me from bringing that world of decadence and sex to my home city, Boston.

CAI: My entire life has always been focused on accomplishments, working myself ragged in the hopes of getting out from underneath my big brother's shadow. Now, Grandfather's gone, and my relationship with my brothers is at a breaking point, leaving me to decide what's truly important.

SLADE: I was known as "The Peacemaker", the laid-back brother who never felt emotions as deeply as everyone else. Except I did. I'd just always hide them. Not anymore. After she walked into my life, all I want now is to become the man she needs me to be. If only she'll trust me enough to tell me who that is.

BLAKE: I've been angry for as long as I can remember. Angry about life, about what I've lost. It's my only defense, my only protection. No one has ever been able to break through. Then I meet her. The strong and beautiful Brea who won't let me retreat into anger. If I just can open up my walls for her, I know she can change my life.

A series worth reading... but falls just short of being great

I get this every time I finish a book that I either really enjoy, I that I feel I want to know more... this series falls into the “I want to know more” category of book hangover. I enjoyed it, but I’m still left feeling that I needed more.

One suggestion I would make is to definitely read this as the entire box set. If I had got these as individual titles, I’m not sure I would have had the impetus to continue to the next brothers story, but having it right there made it easier to keep going. I was determined to get to the end and find out what really happened to them 24 years ago... and I am definitely glad that I did.

Individually, the brothers stories are good but I have to admit that they all felt a little similar in their plot lines. Broken brothers, damaged by their past, meets girl that makes him realise there’s more to life than what they are living... they introduce them to their BDSM tendencies and they love happily ever after. OK, so there’s a little more to it than that... but that’s generally the gist of each story. There’s enough intrigue and a little danger to spice each tale up a bit... but it basically follows the same pattern.

Now, I’ve never been much for BDSM. I know about it, heard a little about it... but it’s never appealed to me before. Having read these books I can start to see some of the attraction and it did show that it isn’t about being slutty or freakish and that it can be loving and sensual.

Whether I believe that each of these women would have fallen into the whole BDSM culture quite so freely and easily had me questioning the believability a little. I mean, two were virgins.. one in particular from an abusive past, which I felt would have taken a little more time to have gained their confidence and trust.. but hey, maybe that’s just me. It’s not that I’m closed minded about these things but it would take a lot for me to give over that much trust to someone, especially if I wasn’t very experienced. I mean is it really like someone just suddenly goes “yes, you can tie me up and whip me with a belt”? I don’t know. Just made me a little uneasy I guess... but hey, this is fiction, so anything’s possible I suppose.

The ending is good as you finally discover the truth about what happened that fateful night. The brothers all come together with their new partners and everything falls into place for them... which after their ordeals and difficulties is really quite satisfying. But saying that.. I still wanted to know more.. and I guess that’s the sign of a good writer... always leave them wanting more.

M.S Parker is starting to grow on me... so I might look into more of her series. She’s a bit racier than I’m used to, but in a good way. The men in her stories are at least respectful and loving. Even with the BDSM element, there’s no feeling of these men taking advantage or being brutal. If they’d been anything close to disrespectful or harsh, it would have put me right off.

I’ve also discovered that there is a further Hunter brothers book that I’m going to read to see where this story goes.

The Hunter Brothers Complete Collection Box Set

This set contains the individual stores of the 4 Hunter Brothers, Jax, Cai, Slade and Blake.

When these four where young, Blake being the youngest at 4 their parents were in a terrible car accident and as a result of the deaths of their father, mother and Blake’s twin sister Aimee. Blake was the only survivor of the accident.

The prologue takes us through what happened the evening their grandfather was informed of the accident and begins the building of the story that gets told via the individual story of the boys after they have grown up.

Each of them has been affected by the death of their parents. They were raised by their grandparents, and again, still young and they lost their grandmother, finally leaving them to be raised by their grandfather.
Over the years instead of growing closer which one might think would happen, they infact grew apart.

The first story was about Jax.
Jax took over running the family business from his grandfather, a demanding job and Tax threw himself into it. One day when he was in New York he found his way into Carrie & Gavin’s Club Prive BDSM Private Club. After some thought and discussing with his grandfather one day about land value in one of the Boston neighbourhoods that he would like to branch out into a new business, build and open his own BDSM Private club in Boston. Jax finds a property he is interested in, but the current owner doesn’t want to sell, Syll is trying to make a go of the bar her father left her. Not only is Jax interested in the property someone else is as well. That someone else plays dirty though and the bar becomes the target of a break in, Syll gets beaten up, and eventually it is burnt into the ground. Syll the owner of the bar and Jax don’t see eye to eye on her selling to Jax, the night of the fire when she almost dies, she is rescued by Jax. It is around that same time that the Hunter patriarch has a heart attack now leaving the brothers with only each other. Since Syll has no place to go and is reeling from the fire and total loss of the bar, Jax convinces her to stay with him, all while trying to build a relationship with Syll and bury his grandfather. By the end of the story there is another turn, as a final wish their grandfather before distributing the estate want the brothers to get close again. There is however, yet another twist and at the very end a whole new theory about the car accident and death of their parents and sister is brought to the attention of the brothers.

Will they find out the truth?

This wanting the brothers to work things out and get close again, runs through each story and eventually brings two of the brothers back to Boston.

Book two is the story of Cai and Addison. Cai works for the CDC and Addison is his new intern. Can Cai find the cure to a small isolated epidemic when Addison get exposed.

Book three is about Slade and Cheyenne. Slade works for the DEA and Cheyenne needs Slade to help her and her little brother get away from an all over nasty gangster holding her dead mothers drug debt over her head.

Book four is about Blake and Brea. Can Brea help Blake get over the wrongs he feels his brothers have done to him and can Blake be the answer to what really happened the night of the accident?

It is in Blake’s story we find out what really happened to cause the accident.

It took me awhile to get through the series, mostly because I was busy. I did enjoy reading it but the Club Prive collection is ranked a bit higher for me.

This series is about siblings who are finding love and suffering the loss of their parents all over again. A crime or an accident, the cause is being investigated again and everyone has a role to play in the drama.
Book 1-This author has an imagination that knows no boundaries. Each new book series is fresh and inviting and definitely hard to put down. This series is about 4 brothers who lost their parents and a sibling in a tragic car crash when they were young. Their Grandfather took them in and raised them; all chose different professions and individual ways of living their lives.
This series highlights each brother in a book; their love interests and their relationships to each other.
Wonderful endearing characters and each story is unique and has depth and emotion.
Jax and Syll are in book 1, and they meet while each is struggling in life trying to move forward. Attraction and their businesses bring them on the same course and you need to read this book to see how it all turns out.
Book 2-This is Cai and Addison's story, and my favorite so far in this Hunter Brothers series. Both main characters are medical scientists with Addison still finishing up her education and earning an intern position at the CDC under Cai. Major sparks fly between these two, with the story taking some twists and turns, this reader did not see coming.
"You want someone who's going to come at sex from a logical point of view. Physical pleasure without emotional attachment. But you want someone you can trust to make sure you enjoy yourself and trust not to be some sleazy stalker or someone dangerous."
"Never allow anyone to make you feel like you deserve anything less than a man who will adore you."
"Everything had been just as perfect as I could have ever wanted."
"Little sparks of electricity danced across my skin, and the warmth that spread through my body had little to do with the cocoa and everything to do with his touch.
Book 3-This is Slade's story, and when he finds the woman he wants, all bets are off.
Emotions can keep us from moving on in our life, learning to express them helps us to grow and love others.
Book 4-Blake is angry about life and what has happened in the past. Brea is a lover of life, and her love of nature and homeopathic remedies brings her to work with her parents on their new ranch/resort.
Blake happens to own the ranch next door, and he is none too pleased to have a business and people roaming around his homestead. Can they find a way to co-exist? A wonderfully written and stunning conclusion to the Hunter Brother's Collection of stories.

This focuses around 4 brothers who are very different. A family tragedy means that all four boys are raised by their grandfather. He means well but he is old and quite stubborn and not very affectionate.

Book 1 starts with the accident that claimed the mum, dad and sister and nearly Blake. But here we learn about Jax and how he had to almost parent the boys. They weren’t close at all but when tragedy strikes again they are all brought back together for a brief period but go their own ways. Jax wants to buy a bar and meets Syll but she doesn’t want anything to do with him. Can he change her mind and convince her the bar isn’t all he is after? Jax followed in the family business

Book 2 focused on Cai and how closed off he is. All he is interested in is his work as a scientist but that changes when Addison becomes his new intern and gets sick. Can he find the cure and save her and in return can she save him?

Book 3 focuses on Slade and Cheyenne. As a DEA agent he knows trouble but she crossed the path of Cheyenne he knows she is in more trouble than she can handle but can she trust him to help and will he want to?

Book 4 is about Blake, probably the most closed off of the brothers but when he meets Brea she doesn’t shy away from his attitude. In this book the four brothers finally get back together and find out exactly what happened in the so called accident that took their parents.

I would have liked more interaction between the brothers and more epilogue for each of them. Good stories and flowed well

Pretty Good

I'll start out with my ignorance... I don't understand the BDSM lifestyle. Generally, reading about it just makes me shake my head... I'm totally and completely averse to pain, so I can't wrap my mind around it having anything to do with pleasure.

Having said all that, this was a pretty good series overall.

There is a running prologue that goes through all 4 books. (I was a little confused by it in the first book, but I figured it out eventually.) In it, we see the grandfather, Manfred Hunter, 24 years ago when his son, his daughter-in-law, and his granddaughter were killed in a car crash. His youngest grandson, Blake, was the sole survivor. (His other grandsons (Jax, Cai, and Slade) were safe with friends.) We also get little glimpses of the boys (ages 4 to 8 at the time), their personalities, and how they related to their grandfather and each other.

Each of these brothers dealt with their loss differently and they ended up basically estranged from each other. Until their grandfather dies and they all find themselves back in Boston. Not only did their grandfather leave a stipulation in his will that the brothers needed to reconcile in order to inherit, but he also left them a painful mystery to solve: was the accident that killed their family really an accident or was it murder?

In addition go this overarching mystery, most of the brothers found themselves mixed up in some other drama. A good bit of action/drama/mystery makes these stories so much better IMO (especially when their kink isn't my kink 😊).

4 - 4.5 stars!

Jax's story was pushed towards the end. Cai and Addison's story was very good. He found someone who understood him and was his equal or better at her job. Slade liked to rescue people. He needed to be needed. He liked Cheyenne because she was strong mentally. Finding out Austin was her brother and not her son, he had a new respect for her. Blake was the odd one out of the 4 brothers. Extremely a loaner. Brie was able at times to get him to talk. He liked her, but still couldn't communicate with her except when sex was involved. He had so much bitterness in him, he didn't know how to releas it.

The boys went through a traumatic experence when their mother, father and sister died in a car accident. Blake survived the accident, but blocked out what happened. They were very young, 4, 6, 8 and 12 when the accident happened. They kept their feelings bottled inside. As they grew up, they drifted apart. Very little communication between them. Their grandfather on his death bed stalled their inheritance until they became a family again. These 4 books show the journey each had to take to mend their relationships. The only thing they had in common was BDSM and all their women were much younger than them.

Thoroughly enjoyable

This set is a very good read four brothers all different all went through the tragedy of losing their parents and sister in what was believed to be a tragic accident when they were young. They were raised by their grandparents but mostly grandfather each dealt with their loss in their own way and they grew apart only Jax stayed to help his grandad with the buisness. On the death of their grandfather the four are bought back together and his will challenges them to look beyond their differences and seek the truth about their parents death. Each brother admits they have bdsm tendencies and each is sworn off love but none banked on meeting the women who will change their opinions. These women come into their lives and change each brother for the better also the truth that their parents were murdered comes out. It's a great set with four hot alpha males and four feisty women that alter them. Enjoyable read.

great characters & setup, endings disappointing

The first 2 books in the series held up well with the setup of the damaged men & complex women coming to a HEA. However His Hunger/ Slade I couldn't finish because of the secondary problems the characters ran into- I just wasn't engaged in their problems- DEA & the strip club owner...

But His Secret/ Blake made me angry when it fell apart. Blake was the most interesting & troubled brother, and I loved the character of Brea with her willingness to look at the relationship as what it was & not romanticize it. But it was wrapped up in such a sloppy lazy way- a life time of problems solved in a weekend, Blake going from being a jerk to all smiley?!? Argh, I felt totally cheated- where was his reluctant coming around to love?
Author, please don't overcommit to a 4 book series- it's too painful for readers!

I don’t know, maybe it’s me

To begin a romance with death and destruction, move on from there to ‘f’ this, ‘f’ that, ‘f’ me, and ‘f’ you, is not what I look for in a romance book.
Maybe I’m just too old for today’s romance writers.
I desperately miss romances, that centered around actual romance.
I read them to feel HAPPY. Not to grieve, not to be shocked, not to solve mysteries, puzzles, and riddles. Just to enjoy a simple afternoon break with a great romance.
Please. If there is a writer out there who understands what I’m saying, where are you???

The Hunger Brothers

This box set of book was amazing. It told the story of 4 brother that had lost the family at a young age , kept together by their Grandfather that didn't raise them to understand emotions until he dies. Does the brother realises what emotions and love is. The only thing they have in common is BDSM. But they all fall in love with strong independent women. In the process of falling in love they discover that their parent and sister were murdered by a car accident

I really enjoyed this book. This is a fabulous author. She really engages the reader. All of the characters are so well developed and real. Every page is worth reading. I can’t wait to eat another one of her series. They always keep me entertained for hours! The Hunter brother’s are all awesome men. Each choosing a woman that might seem like an unlikely pairing but they all find their HEA and they are perfect for one another. The prologue in each book in this series gives a little bit more of an additional interesting thread that runs through until the end.

This is a story of four brothers that have a strained relationship with each other and are quite different from one another. None of them are happy due to a terrible event that happened 24 years ago.
Kinky sex is the only thing they seem to have in common. Also finding the love of good, strong women helps bring the love in their hearts out to share.

An amazing boxset!

The Hunter brothers. Torn apart by a tragedy when they were only young boys. They lost their Mom, Dad and sister in a car accident. But is everything really as it seems? Could there be more to this story than meets the eye? These brothers were looked after by their grandparents, but now all they have is each other. Can they work together to find out the truth? Each finding love along the way, which only changes each of them for the better. Could they finally find the justice that they deserve? Happy endings for all of them as they deserve?

Tight on Time

This boxed set, The Hunter Brothers, is quite condensed so it moves very fast. Each brother has his own book with a love interest and some entanglement to get a bit Of bite to heir story. Estranged brothers at the beginning, forced to reconcile their relationship by a Grandfather who couldn’t do it in life. No matter their differences, deep down they know they need to come together and want a real connection to each other.

It is an interesting set of stories no matter the shortness.

I’ll be honest all of these books were just OK at best. The story felt super short and rushed. It kind of gave vibes of. Hey we met each other. There was a small conflict of some sort. We fell into bed with each other and then all of a sudden we were in love and getting married or engaged or making some serious life commitment Over the course of like a week or a month. I just felt super unrealistic if you just need to read because you have the option of it being free go for it. But if you have to pay for it, I personally wouldn’t and I probably won’t read anything from this offer again

A typical great read from M.S. Parker. Four brothers with a tragedy early in their lives that shaped each brother in a different way and apart. Each thought they were immune to love and were happy in their life. Well........until four completely different women taught them the error of their ways. Without giving anything away, I will say that this book had such heart, such internal questioning, and such steamy heartfelt love that I could hardly put it down. Definitely worth a read!

Good Series

Each book is a stand alone and the stories revolve around the 4 Hunter Brothers, their lives and how they meet the woman of their dreams. BDSM is featured in each of the books and is handled in an interesting honest manner. The mystery that runs throughout is finally brought to a conclusion at the end of Book 4 so we are not left hanging. Well worth 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟Stars !

This was a good series. Not as riveting as some I have read but good. I do think at this point the domination thing is a bit overdone or can written in a less obvious way but I'm not a writer after all. The books felt like they were written quickly just to get them done. Everyone meets, falls in love in a couple of days things don't slow down any from there. They could have been better developed. But certainly not bad.

Not for me

I'm afraid I only made it 25% thru this boxset. Found the first story all very unlikely & a bit odd, so am returning it.
I'm sure a therapist would have a field day with the 4 estranged brothers that all reunite over their shared love for BDSM clubs, err yeah, not for me....

Could not put it down!

I always love reading M.S. Parker's books and haven't read one for a while. This series had actually been sitting on my kindle for a long time and I finally gave in and started reading. Well, what can I say but I loved it! I love how after each brother's story finished, the next one began. Can't wait to read more of her books

The Hunter Brothers

I can honestly say I had fun reading this box set. It was intriguing, especially with the murder of the Hunter Brothers' family hanging over their heads. I was sad for Blake because he felt his brothers hadn't cared for him. They were all dealing with their grief in different ways, so they all drifter apart. I'm glad they got justice for the family.

Good enough I finished all four books but not engaging enough since I skipped a whole bunch of all but the first book. It wasn't a well-developed overall plot even though the premise was really good and promising. I guess I was more upset by the way it didn't live up to as good as it could have been. Still enjoyable enough to waste an afternoon.

Love the set how each book leads to the next. Each brother offers something more. None of them think they have anything in come until they discuss BDSM and a club. But its not all about the sexy steamy scenes. There is a mystery about their parents and sisters' death that ties the stories together.

Each book is on 1 brother with a continous story which i felt was rushed and an after thought.
BDSM starts in book 1 but is extremely mild but progresses with Each brother. I was expecting more and i felt that they didn't really explain it to the girls properly.
I cant see me reading these books again but I will read other books by this author.
