Attempting to raise funds for Christmas presents, Daisy and Ed Gemmell take a job at a “Winter Village” that turns out to be a borderline-illegal shambles. Can Daisy save Christmas? Or should she just go home?
Alright, I fell off my plan again a little bit, I missed posting yesterday! I am trying to get better about prepping posts beforehand but this week actually not the whole week just a few days have been rough at work and with some life stuff. I have books read (don't believe me? Go look at my exploding currently reading Goodreads shelf, someday they are going to say I can not add anything else till I finish these reviews). I finished this issue of Giant Days a while ago and I still love this series but also I am now a tiny bit sad! I recently learned when Googling (Googling something that was not Giant Days but I ended up there anyway) that the series would be ending soon. While I know the series could not go on forever I seriously do not and did not want it to end. So that news is a huge bummer for me but I have been buying these as they come out in bind ups so I hope to have them all for rereads in the future when I just need some time with three of my favorite fictional people.
SPOILERS AHEAD
aHR0cDovL3d3dy5uZXdzYXJhbWEuY29tL2ltYWdlcy9pLzAwMC8yNTkvNjY5L2kwMi9HaWFudERheXIn this issue, we find our friends getting in the holiday spirit well sort of. See Ed needs to make some money to go visit his new girlfriend over the holiday break and Daisy has already found a side job on top of her residential advisor job! She is going to work at the Christmas Village (which when I first saw this place I was like heck yes, I love Christmas and all its decor and I love Daisy let's do this) however, this place is definitely not what it seems. She is able to get Ed a job there and eventually they both realize things are not quite right. Additionally, we see Esther get caught up in a new project and Susan go to bat for her friends (which I loved both of these things but Susan going to bat for her friends just felt so much like her and something she would do, she seems like the protective friend type and I love it)!
Again I am not going to go too deep into the plot because I am really far into this series but I truly love it and highly recommend it to everyone! I am going to be incredibly sad when I read the last issue. I am giving this issue five stars on Goodreads.
A bit early, but still an entertaining holiday read. Poor Daisy never seems to get a break and yet still remains hopeful and optimistic throughout (or, in Ed’s words, “able to earn money teaching people how to compartmentalize”). Cliff is a very bizarre neighbor....
Another fantastic and silly Giant Days issue. Though I’ll admit it feels weird to be reading about Christmas when Halloween hasn’t even happened yet…I guess even comics get ahead of the seasons? This issue focused on Ed and Daisy the most. It seems odd that their two plots got so mixed up together…but it also sort of makes sense. Daisy’s enthusiasm is impossible to resist at times, even when logic is screaming at you to run away. I love how Daisy seems to be constantly getting herself into this particular problem. I mean, really, how many people accidentally join a cult even once? Let alone multiple times. At a certain point you’d think she’d learn the warning signs…then again Daisy has this sweet way of assuming that everyone is just as nice as she is. Thus she doesn’t always pick up on the fact that she’s being taken advantage of. I’m sad that we didn’t get to see Esther or Susan truly rage about the situation this issue. I would have loved for Susan to go tearing through the area about halfway through – even if the end result was a shorter issue. That would have just been so satisfying.
I love this cover! The little sweat beads on the Daisy and Ed cookies is a great mesh of ideas.
I love how completely Susan goes to bat for her friends, how dedicated Esther is to her newest project, and how McGraw really focuses on the craft of a thing. Also, I want know more about the board game they play in this issue.
The sweaters in this issue look super comfortable and I want all of them.
Coitados da Daisy e do Ed. Que escândalo esse patrão que nem paga o salário deles. Esther está perdida numa nova aventura no celular. Será que o Ed vai conseguir ir para a Austrália?

"You're not evil, just an idiot". Ha! Poor Daisy, so gullible, she reminds me of myself ;p
I love this issue because any time is an appropriate time to focus on Christmas so why not now in the middle of March? Daisy is the sweetest thing and I loved seeing her cultist shenanigans unfold with Ed. Unfortunately I'm still noticing huge differences since the alterations in the creative team which is pulling me from the story. I still appreciate the style being used, it's just not the same so I'm getting jolted from time to time which ultimately takes away from my experience.
(spoiler) On crucial parts of the story - there's NO WAY I'd be accepting that plane ticket! Ta-heck with that noise! Ed and the Aussie are getting VERY serious.
