This is where it all started, the book before the originalThe Mythical Man-Month: Essays on Software Engineering. Out of date today, I still find occasion to reference this book for a concise explanation or example of "how computers work." The maestro was just getting tuned up. If you can find a copy, it's a valuable read, albeit for historical interest only. I have both the original edition and the System/360 edition. I'm not sure to which edition this GoodReads entry refers, but GoodReads only has this one, so this is what I'm using until it can be convinced to have both.
