*****3.5 STARS***** {ARC Generously Provided by Author}
K. Webster is one of those authors who has the gift of being able to write just about anything. She doesn’t limit herself to just one genre. She also has a knack for writing some seriously steamy guilty pleasure reads, and that’s what these short novellas that are a part of her "Taboo World" are all about. Almost every novella is a scorching hot May/December romance between an eighteen-year-old girl and a man that is close to or in his forties. I can’t deny that I enjoy the naughtiness but I don’t always love the characters. Winter was, for the most part, an obnoxious teenaged girl and August was beyond crass. However, the passion between them does make for an entertaining read. This wasn’t my favorite story in this series but it did have its moments. I am hoping that the next book will be about the sexy doctor we met in “Enzo”, who also makes an appearance towards the end of this story.
This is the twelfth story of K. Webster's Taboo Treats, all the stories are standalone and can be read in any order, or so they say, but I can't agree to that, or that they are standalone. My reading order: Bad Bad Bad Coach Long Ex-Rated Attraction Malfeasance/Judge Rowe Crybaby Mr. Blakely Renner's Rules Dane Preach/Easton Lawn Boys The Glue Enzo Red Hot Winter Dr. Dan 3,7 stars Winter's father throw her out of their home, so her best friend ask her father if she can go to his house. August is a lawyer and Dane's friend. The problem with this arrangement is that Winter's father used to be August best friend, until he betrayed him with his ex-wife. August thought that this might be a good way to get back of his ex-friend by bullying his daughter. Winter is in love with August since she was a little girl. And now they share a house... Winter is not a little girl anymore and August find himself attracted to her. Age gap story, steamy, quick reading. By this time, all the characters are finding their HEA and this shows in the stories, there's not much more to say.
Jeez August, it’s pretty gutless to take your ire for your ex-best friend out on his daughter. If you really wanted to stick it to him, stick it in her. Better yet fall in love. I mean we all know this is where it’s going but it should’ve been his plan from the get go.
Then again, you know what they say about best laid plans.
So far the revenge is going well, I’m sure offering her a ride so she doesn’t have to drive in the snow is all part of your plans.
August’s punishment sounds far preferable to in-school suspension. Well, actually it sounds preferable to most anything. 🥵🌶
What I don’t get, is you have this girl that’s all but set to be valedictorian and she’s acting out. Instead of discovering the root of the problem she’s punished. Yeah, that makes sense.
And fuck Winter’s dad! I hate parents that pick lovers over their children, it’s one of my biggest pet peeves. I can’t wait for them both to totally screw him over.
Wow, the ex-wife is a winner ain’t she? I guess she never heard that saying about throwing stones in glass houses.
This is just the perfect mix of sugar and spice so it’s fitting that August is the perfect cinnamon roll.
I’m super sad that this is the last BR with Cassandra for this series but I’m stoked we ended it on a super high note. Because Red Hot Winter is almost perfect with its red hot steam, the cutest, sweetest emotional interludes and all the drama with her dad and bitch ass step mother. Plus that epilogue? Cutest thing ever!

Middle aged guy was betrayed by his best friend and his wife who cheated on him and have now gone off together and got married. To get revenge he decides to seduce his best friend's high school aged daughter (who also happens to be best friends with his own daughter!), I mean it's not like the young girl is an innocent who has done nothing wrong and isn't the one who betrayed him is it? Oh wait a minute...
Some hero huh? Excuse me while I vomit 🤮🤮🤮
It's great that I'm getting to try all these new to me authors via the Read Me Romance podcast but I'm finding that most of these stories are much more likely to knock their authors off of my to read pile rather than add them. Perhaps thats a good thing considering the size of my TBR mountain though?
Another hot and quick taboo treat from K Webster. Age gap. Best friends dad, and also ex best friends daughter. They kind of plan to use each other for revenge, but it becomes way more than that. OBVIOUSLY! The taboo treats always give us a HEA, so you can expect the steamy goodness and some lurve too.
Also. I can’t wait for Lauren’s story. I have a feeling she’s going to give us another emotional taboo treat. Love those ones!!
This was a hot older man/younger woman story with a touch of enemies to lovers. While the heroine is eighteen she is still in high school. Due to the length of the book, there’s not a lot of foundation built although the heroine has had a crush on the hero for years but it’s now turned into something more. I worried that a part of this was going to feel revengey due to the heroine’s father having had an affair and then married the hero’s wife who then became his ex wife. But it never really hit that note for me which I was glad for. This definitely has some hot and heavy and a very taboo feel to it but I enjoyed it for what it was all the same.
Listened on Read Me Romance podcast then read the ultra sweet epilogue via Kindle Unlimited
Told in dual POV, 1st person, it can be read as a standalone. This is only for your entertainment and if you are looking for character/relationship development or a perfect plot, you should skip this one. Some readers counted it as taboo but for me, it wasn’t like that. Yes, there was a big age gap and yes she was his daughter’s best friend/step-sister but still. All in all, I had a good time reading it and hope you enjoy it as well!
Red Hot Winter pairs up Winter and August (He’s Dane’s partner at the law firm). For those that haven’t read the entire list of books in this world, what is wrong with you???!!!
Red Hot Winter was an explosive erotic read. From their first encounter, till the last page. August was aggressive, demanding and rough in all the right ways. Our fiery Winter was sassy and a little bit broken, which was a perfect combination. It can be difficult to balance the heroines in romances. Too strong and we hate them, to weak and we loathe them – but Winter was this fantastic mix of a vulnerable girl who had strength.
I feel like when I read this books that although I absolutely love the book, I end up craving the next one ten times more. I am dying for the next one after the tease we get in this book. All I can say, is as long as K. Webster writes these books, I will read them.
This was a hot little read with an older man/younger woman trope. I'm enjoying the Read Me Romance podcasts but they are soooo short. It just didn't feel like a full story. I'm hoping that once the ebook is out there will be epilogues that will help with that.
Red Hot Winter by K. Webster GENRE: Taboo Romance NARRATION: Dual POV BOOK DETAILS: Standalone in the collection of Taboo Treats by K Webster
THE STORY – IN A NUTSHELL Eighteen-year-old student Winter gets hot and heavy with an older man, August. August is a successful attorney and Winters father's former best friend attorney. What starts out as revenge for August, quickly becomes so much more.
MY THOUGHTS Being a fan of K. Webster’s Taboo treats I was thrilled to receive an advanced copy of this. Going into this I knew what I was in for, this is an age difference romance between a man and his best friend’s daughter. What I was not expecting was the obtuse character of August, to put it mildly he was crass and creepy.
I was not a fan of Winter as she was a very insufferable teenager but I really loved the passionate naughty moments Winter and August shared, they were well suited as a couple. As always Kristi has a knack for writing an entertaining and steamy story.
Although this was more a miss than a hit for me I still look forward to the next taboo treat from Kristi.

Another of K’s steamy taboo treats I’ve unashamedly enjoyed, admittedly (& also unashamedly) in the most part because of the filthy mouthed, alphahole, 40-something daddy types she writes oh so well. Sidebar: I’m still fanning myself over description of the white shirt, grey vest, pink tie combo...and then later, he rolled up his sleeves. Sweet. Baby. Cheeses. #NearlyDroveOffTheRoad
It is only my 2nd time reading K. Webster and I need to change that, stat. This was freaking hot; 5 stars all the way. I love what Alexa Riley and Tessa Bailey are doing: this podcast adventure is such a great idea. I'm loving meeting all the new writers. And the audiobooks so far? Deliciously naughty.
Red Hot Winter is fiery passion, witty banter and scorching encounters wrapped up in this short, dirty novella. K. Webster is known for pushing boundaries and she does with August and Winter—an older man, younger woman romance between a recent divorcee and his daughter's best friend.
It is an instant lust/instant love, delicious forbidden romance that will incinerate every fiber of your being. And the narrators really brought this story to life!
Forty-ish bitter old man who has nasty ex-wife and a daughter. The old man wants to get revenge on his daughter's best friend. Instead, got struck by lightning because she's sooo forbidden.
Nothing new. *shrugs*
I'm so tired this wash, rinse, repeat kind-of-story. Plainly boring.
Instalove, instasex always hot and steamy, insta everything as it’s always the case in these taboo stories and it’s an insta like from me all the time.
I’m never disappointed in Webster’s taboo treats. I totally loved Winter and he sassiness.
And soon I hope to see more of a certain doctor who already made an appearance in Enzo and got my lady bits all tingling.
Re-read 02/13/2019: Just read the new extended version. LOVE LOVE LOVE. These taboo treats make me happy.
First read end of December 2018:

I salivated like craaaaazy over this READ ME ROMANCE audio of RED HOT WINTER by K. Webster!
This quick, naughty smutfest, which is set in her Taboo Treats World, was one red hot tamale! Embittered attorney August Miller has the perfect plan of revenge when he allows his daughter's bestie, Winter, to stay at his house when Winter's daddy (who also happens to be the scoundrel who stole August's two-timing wife) kicks her out. But this jaded alpha's best laid plans for cold-hearted retribution turns into such SWEET, TORTUROUS BLISS when Winter's saucy mouth and sultry bod inflame August's every molten desire. But of course beneath the gorgeous girl's sassy, snarky exterior lies a fragile, vulnerable heart that's aching for not only August's rough branding touch but also his breathtaking brand of TLC!
Once again, K. Webster, the queen of forbidden age gap romances, warmed my heart and incinerated my panties! RED HOT WINTER is an insta love-lust tale to the max and 100 percent guilty pleasure! I just can't get enough of her ott older alpha males and the not so wide eyed innocents who cannot stay away from them!
This wildly addictive audio is chock full of kinky hot interludes, smoldering sparks, feisty banter and sugary sweetness! I also love the intersecting storylines from previous installments in the previous Taboo Treats world. A particular highlight? When Winter was booted from Couch Long's class for mouthing off and sent to Principal Renner's office who then called August to get her butt out of trouble. But eeep the devious rogue had his own wicked form of punishment to mete out on Winter's juicy derriere! Sighhh...talk about needing a cold shower after that naughty scene!
The audio narration by Philip Alces and Melissa Bar was stupendous! Philip has been a longtime fave of mine and his gruff, growly voice suited devilishly dirty talking August Miller to a T. His deliciously taunting, disarmingly sardonic and sweetly playful line deliveries induced giddy shivers, and his take charge macho attitude seriously gave me all kinds of eargasms! And Melissa, a new to me narrator, was wonderfully cast as an adorably cheeky Winter! These two really embodied these charismatic characters perfectly and deserve high marks for lending their talents to this ULTRA DECADENT and UBER PLEASURABLE novella!
Forgetting about where these two people are in life, I really enjoyed them as a couple. Their banter was great, the sex hot, but...
Yeah, there's a but...
The ick factor comes in when you take in that she's in high school. Thank goodness she's legal, but she's in high school and there is just something wrong with a 41 yo man screwing a girl in high school legal or not.
To get through the book, I tried not to think about that. But sometimes their conversation brought that little fact up time and time again. I'm just not sure that a 41 yo lawyer, a) would be home enough and b) would risk his practice to openly screw a girl in high school legal age or not.
But the clincher is the daughter. Why would she send her best friend (whose still in HS) to stay with her dad when she isn't going to be there with her? It's not like she doesn't live in the same town. I don't see that happening either. Add in that said daughter would be in on the fact that her best friend claimed to be screwing her dad, why would she need to ask dad to let her friend stay if she believes they are already fucking? And why would she want to. Most daughters would not be cool with that.
Too many unbelievable things in a contemporary romance which should be grounded in reality (at least plausibility).
And for those reasons, I can't give this high marks. Different circumstances especially if she'd graduated HS (she can still be 18), and I might have enjoyed more.
This is my first read by this author and I can see why many enjoy her writing.
WARNING: DUE TO THE EXPLICIT NATURE OF THIS BOOK THE FOLLOWING REVIEW CONTAINS SOME GRAPHIC SEXUAL DISCUSSION AND INAPPROPRIATE HUMOR. READER DISCRETION ADVISED.
I really feel like I shouldn’t have liked this book so much... but goddamn, I like this book.
What’s it about? August is a rich guy in his 40s who has been bitter and a bit more fucked up in general after his divorce. The divorce happened after his (former) friend started fucking his (now ex)wife. That former friend’s daughter, Winter, seeks help from August because she was kicked out of the house and is still trying to finish school especially since she’s determined to get good grades and a college scholarship. August agrees to let her stay but having not seen Winter since she was a shy young teen, he did not expect the sexy, take-no-shit 18 year old woman she is now...
Pros: The characters are surprisingly well written. So at first I didn’t care for them but as the book went on I liked them more and cared more about them. This story is never boring which is great. One of the main reasons I wasn’t sure if I’d like romance is because I thought it would be boring but holy fuck, this kind sure ain’t! The narrative and writing is excellent, Webster definitely shows off that she is great at writing in general. I’m actually encouraged to try more of her work. This book can be humorous at times. The romance is surprisingly cute and sweet. I know some may criticize it as the guy is in his 40s and the girl is barely 18 so while it’s legal there is a pretty big age gap but honestly if they both consent does it matter? They’re both consenting adults so I’d say it doesn’t matter and with that being said their chemistry is wonderful and it’s cute romance. Alright so sex is a big part of the book and I must say, it’s good. It’s masterful writing makes it seem tasteful despite an extreme (dare I say pornographic) level of graphicness and detail. (Insert “Winter is coming” joke here). So I listened to this via Read Me Romance, they had 2 narrators for this book and damn, they are perfect for this book! They sound exactly like how I’d imagine these characters sound. Extra props to the female narrator who read Winter’s perspective, don’t get me wrong August’s narrator did a fantastic job but Winter’s really brought the character’s emotion to life and during some of the sexy parts even sounded like she was orgasming into the mic while reading (see why I put a warning on this review?) which fit those scenes perfectly, nicely done. The ending is perfect.
Cons: The story is kinda cheesy, not gonna lie. This plot is what I’d expect from a guilty pleasure Netflix series (or internet porn) to be honest. This plot is very predictable, it’s very obvious the kind of things that will happen.
Overall: I probably would have given this 3-stars if it was just straight up porn, I mean sure that would still maybe be exciting but not exactly what makes a good book IMO however it is so masterfully written and there are some more things to it that make it a tasteful, cute romance story which is pretty much what I wanted from a Read Me Romance audiobook. After the fucking (no pun intended) disaster that is Heavy Equipment (hate that stupid book, one of my absolute least favorites) I wasn’t even sure if I’d ever come back to this podcast and bother listening to anymore of it but I’m definitely glad I did decide to try it again. While the plot of this book is cheesy and predictable, the pros definitely outweigh the cons so I would even go as far to say I like this book. I feel slightly weird saying it but this book is so intense, cute, sexy and well written with good characters, a fantastic ending and the narrators are perfect. I had a great experience with this which makes it a great book IMO so I’ll even go ahead and recommend it!
⚜Rate: ★★★★✩
English: The second book that I read about this author and I will definitely continue reading more because I loved both. It was a HOT reading, quick to read, short and kept me hooked at all times.
August, 41, is embittered after he caught his wife with his best friend. That was two years ago and the daughter of the former best friend needs a place to stay. Winter, 18, is about to graduate from high school and go to college to study law when, because of her wicked stepmother (August's ex-wife), her father kicks her out of the house. Callie, August's daughter and Winter's best friend and stepsister suggest that she stay with August. I know it's like a mess Winter has been in love with August since she was a child. He has always been a fantasy for her and will finally become reality.
I really liked that Winter was a determined girl with impulses, although she is also a little hurt by her relationship with her father. Their friendship is very good with Callie and even with Lauren. I was impressed by the little time they took things to Winter and August, but it was not bad. ⚜Rate: ★★★★✩
August is bitter and angry, thanks to his best friend and his now ex-wife hooking up behind his back. But the time has come for him to get a little vengeance when he allows his ex best friend's daughter to live with him after she gets into a fight with her dad. That Winter just happens to be good friends with his daughter, though, might be weighing on August's mind once he sees how the little Winter has turned into a gorgeous goddess. Will he be able to get his revenge, or will the feelings he instantly develops for her get in the way of his quest for vengeance?
Whew, this little Taboo Treat is H O T!!! I loved it. Sometimes a little smut-filled novella of dirty naughtiness is all you need to get you through the day, and that's what this did for me. It's not exactly deep literature, or an epic love story, but it is fun with a seriously hot alpha lawyer and his younger love. I can't say that I liked Winter all that much, but August most definitely did it for me, in a BIG, BIG way!
Red Hot Winter is everything you expect when you know K.Webster has written this book. It is taboo. It is sexy. It is dirty. It will get your pulse racing and hands sweating. It is so bad that it feels so good!
Winter is forced to leave her home and stay at her best friend/stepsister's house with her stepfather August. August's ex wife is married to Winter's father. She is an annoying and destructive woman who cheated on August and made his life living hell. August thinks about breaking down Winter to punish her dad. But soon it becomes complicated. They have this sizzling hot chemistry that's burning the pages. Winter was attracted to August for long but couldn't act on it . Now that they have the opening, they explore the passion. And the passion becomes something deep and profound.
I am drooling on August's character. A bossy alpha with dirty mouth and even dirtier bedroom tricks, August is caring, over protective, dominating and too much enticing for his own good. Winter is more mature than her age. And she has the perfect attitude and sass to match August. I loved how their relationship progressed from passion to love to lifelong commitment. There is nothing to say about K.webster's writing. She writes flawless, effortless and shameless treats. Red Hot Winter is just a brand new and intriguing addition to the taboo world. She made an uncomfortable and sensitive trope easy and comfortable for me. A short steamy and entertaining reading for taboo romance lovers!
