I really enjoyed reading this book and going through the projects the author shared. Small beds, dressers, tables, garden boxes and much more. The plans are included and very simple to understand. I find this book a great help, I’ve been wanting to convert some crates into some garden features so the book couldn’t have come at a better time. It makes the work easy to follow and it gives me the confidence to go out and do it. There’s lots of ideas that have come to light by reading through this book and it’s got me pretty excited to try a few projects. It’s like a bible to me now. The illustrations are clear and show me exactly what the outcome should be and to make some very impressive joins. I am in love with the way the projects are based in this book it tells you exactly what tools you’ll need. And it starts you out with small projects and let’s you grow to the bigger and more difficult ones. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to do project 5,7 and 8 the shelving section is my favorite. I still don't have many tools to work with, but I'm trying little by little and I'm happy with what I've built, I plan to buy more tools and more books like this one.
Great book! It covers everything from setting up shop, wood types and different cuts of wood. Squaring, marking and cutting. It covers all of the different joints and how to make each. Finishing is also covered. It has a ton of good color photos and illustrations in it. Tools benches and safety gear are all covered. Undoubtedly the best single all round book on woodworking I have seen to date. Based on the reviews I figured this would be nice to have, but I very pleased with the overall quality not only of the book itself, but the contents also. I would give it 5 ½ stars if I could. I inherited my father’s woodworking equipment and so I have been studying about equipment and projects. I have purchased approximately 10 + books in the last few months. This one is the one I am most pleased with. The plans themselves are good, but the tips, tricks and how-to instructions really make this book a must have for beginners and a solid go-to for the advanced amongst us wishing to brush up or learn the details behind what makes for good carpentry. Almost every problem or design flaw I've ever encountered is addressed, and solutions offered, often more than one.
This book exceeded my expectations. I kept almost buying it and then deferred it because I feared it would be nothing more than things I could easily find on the web or things that I'd already seen in any number of other books. I was totally wrong. This is probably one of the most useful books on my shop shelf. The sheer number of useful tips is amazing, and I have found dozens and dozens of them applicable to my situation. They are neither overly simplistic nor insanely complicated. Some of them do take a significant amount of effort - but there is a wide-range. I'm very impressed. Don't hesitate to get this book. The only thing is it can be hard to find a great tip a second time because there are so many and no index. I'm searching the web to see if someone has published a searchable list of all the tips. There is just an endless source of helpful tips for a multitude of wood working projects. This book is always just an arms length away to help with ideas for woodworking success.
It's really a huge woodworking plan collection, makes me overwhelmed at the first time seek some design I needed. But over time, after I explored all the features in the member area on its website, it was so easy to find what I was looking for. Teds Woodworking has structured all the plans based on the category makes it easy to explore. Awesome!
