A chance encounter with a stranger known only as "The Deserter" might be just what Corenne needs as she struggles to survive in Necromunda's underhive.
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE It's a tale of faith, hope and sheet dumb luck from the underhive, filled with fascinating characters and chance encounters.
THE STORY In the underhive of Necromunda, the only law that really matters is that might is right and unless you can defend what's yours, someone else will claim it. That's what happened to Corenne. When the Thunder Knuckle Posse came, they took control of the Sweet Drop Still, sending her family packing. Now, she wants it back, and a chance encounter with a ragged old man known only as "The Deserter" who claims to have fought in the armies of the vaunted Lord Solar might just be her salvation – or at least revenge.
Running time 27 minutes. Performed by Steve Conlin, Toby Longworth, Carla Medonca & Jo Woodcock.
Justin is a long-time Astra Militarum player with a trophy cabinet of painting and gaming awards. He now leads his Imperial Fists into the hell of the Horus Heresy.
I’m not familiar with this series (I have only ever read Hill’s novels written as Justin Hill). However, this drama was really easy to get into and visualise - it told me everything I needed to know about the underhive without lengthy exposition.
Well paced, excellent performances, and an entertaining, pleasing tale. I shall be looking for more tales from the underhive.
First audio for Necromunda! It was fun. I thought I realized how it was going to go and thought it was gonna be really cheesy, but it went a different direction. Still kinda cheesy, but much better than where I thought it was going.
Corenne and her mother have been driven out of their home and forced to scrape a living in Dust Falls, scrabbling in the dust and hawking what few possessions they still have. Starving and desperate, Corenne turns to a strange, barely-lucid ex-soldier in the hope that he can help her reclaim her home, but the Deserter seems bound to let her down.
It’s a spot-on Necromunda story, full of rough-edged and worn down characters living on the fringes and somehow surviving, and an engaging opportunity to live inside the everyday struggles of the underhive a little.
