Reapers MC #6.7

Eli's Triumph

Rate this book
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Joanna Wylde comes a new story in her Reapers MC series…

Peaches Taylor spent the last seven years slinging drinks and dodging drunks at the Starkwood Saloon. Some might call it a dead end job, but to her it was an investment—another six months, and she’d have enough money to buy the place.

Life would've been perfect if Eli hadn’t come home.

Eli King is ready to settle down. He stood by his brothers when they needed him, paying the price for their freedom with his own. Now it’s time to claim his reward—the Starkwood Saloon. He’s got the cash to buy the bar, the skills to run it, and just one person standing between him and his dream: Peaches Taylor.

She’s been driving him crazy since they were kids, and not in the good way. When she was six, she shoved a spider down his pants. When he was ten, he locked her in a closet overnight. Then she hot-wired his car at seventeen, and things got ugly…

They’re adults now, and the Starkwood isn’t a toy to fight over—it’s the hill they’ll die on. No prisoners. No compromises. No mercy.

Peaches Taylor and Eli King are going to war.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Joanna Wylde writes some of the best MC romance out there so I was uber excited to get a new novella featuring some characters from her Reaper’s series.

This story is about Peaches and Eli. They grew up together and have always rode the line between enemies and friends. And there has always been a little more there, right under the surface. Eli was locked up for a few years (he took the fall for someone in his MC) and now he’s out. He and Peaches both want the same thing. The bar that they work at that their boss Gus is getting ready to sell.
“You are a fucking bitch, Peaches Taylor.”
“You better believe it,” I replied, narrowing my eyes. “You think you’ve won—”
“I have won.”
“But I’ll find a way to make your life a living hell,”

I love a good enemies to lovers story and the fact that these two had so much history made it all the better. When they finally got their act together, it was gold. I enjoyed this one lots. It was steamy, fun, and even a bit emotional. I just wish we would have gotten more Peaches and Eli. I would have been happy with a full length novel about these two. Still, I’m happy with what we got. More from Joanna and the Reapers is always a good thing!

*****3.5 STARS*****

The ”REAPERS” are my favorite fictional MCs. I have loved this series from the start, but I think it’s time that Joanna Wylde stops writing these novellas and gets back to the full-length novels. ”ELI’s TRIUMPH” is the third novella in a row, and I’m starting to feel just a tiny bit cheated. This one was just ok for me. The Heroine, Peaches, was overly dramatic for my taste and I was missing some of that action that we normally get from a Reaper’s story. I’ll still continue to read whatever this author publishes because I love her style and I know it’s probably impossible to write a five-star worthy novel every time.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😌😎🙃😮

The heroine: Peaches Taylor - she has spent seven years working at the Sharkwood Saloon in Hallies Falls saving up to buy it and run it herself. She is just months away from having enough money to buy the saloon when Eli King returned to town.

The Hero(es): Eli King - he recently returned from prison even bigger and more muscular than when he went in. He was in prison five years for the motorcycle club, spent the time for a crime that wasn’t his. Now that he is home, he plans on buying the Sharkwood from Gus. He is afraid he will have to fire Peaches if she won’t take to him being her boss.

The Story: Peaches has known Eli since she was a child when he moved in with her family. She was five while he was seven. She was jealous of him and the time he spent with Gus, her mother’s boyfriend and his uncle, who used to attend her tea parties with her until Eli came and started spending time with Gus.

The two had driven each other crazy all throughout their childhood. Now they can’t seem to keep their eyes off each other. While in high school, Eli protected her from other guys and while he was in prison he worried about her being out there unprotected.

The book was dual points of view, dual narration. Narrators Sean Crisden and Tatiana Sokolov did a great job and have terrific voices. Sean has a nice deep voice for Eli, and did a fine job doing other voices, like the old codger Gus. There was a lot going on in this story, issues from the past, the issues with Gus and the bar and more. It held my interest and made me want more from this world.

Peach Taylor and Eli King have known each other practically their whole lives. Peach was eight when eleven-year-old Eli joined her mother and Gus. Gus is Eli's uncle. Peach didn't like losing Gus' attention. She started making Eli's life miserable.

A couple of decades later, Peach is working at the Starkwood Saloon. She has been helping Gus for years. Then she learns that despite wanting to buy it, Gus is selling it to Eli and not her. Talk about mad. Peach wants to punch both of them. It doesn't matter that the Reapers like to hang at the bar. She knows to keep quiet but losing the bar is not something she can do without putting up a fight.

Joanna's Reapers MC series is one of my favorite MC series. The characters are memorable and likable. Most of them are antiheroes. Eli fits with this profile. Someone who has already been to prison (for 5 years) after doing something illegal. Eli believes in the Club. He will do anything to protect it and sometimes that means doing what needs to be done without caring about the consequences.

Peach was harder to like. She was mean to Eli as a kid which forced Eli to retaliate after her attacks. As an adult, I felt she should've known better. If she was miserable with Eli winning the war for the Starkwood Saloon, she could've quit and found a new job without the drama. Notwithstanding, Peach grew on me in the last third of the novella and by the end, I was happy with how the story was developing.

The end felt rushed but this might be just me. Even though my brain knows that a novella should be short, I couldn't help but feel like I needed much more.

Cliffhanger: No

Eli has recently been released from prison after serving a five year sentence. He is about to take ownership of a bar that has been promised to him by Gus. They are both Reapers and Gus has been a father figure to him since he was a young

boy. In fact, he grew up in Gus’ home and although he had a dysfunctional upbringing he very much feels like he has a family in the Reapers, his brothers.

Peaches also grew up with Gus as a father figure, he was in a relationship with her mum. Growing up she had to share her room with Eli. I guess he was a foster brother to her but once he moved in resentment did too. She was jealous of his relationship with Gus. This went on for years, a love/hate thing that dominated their friendship. As they got older though there was a shift and adolescent feelings evolved to a point where a line was nearly crossed.

Then Eli went to prison for five years which left Peaches feeling conflicted and confused. Peaches pretty much took over the running of Gus’ bar and had high hopes of one day being the owner. However, upon Eli’s return she soon discovered that other plans were in place and any bit of respect she had for Gus was gone. The resentment she harboured for Eli went up a notch but she was not going to go down without a fight.

This was a fast paced read with an huge amount of tension between Eli and Peaches, some of it bad and some of it simmering hot. If you are a fan of the Reapers series then you will enjoy this novella dip back into their world.

Eli’s Triumph was a novella within the Reapers MC series by Joanna Wylde.

Eli King and Peaches Taylor grew up together but they were nemesis. Of course there was a fine line between love and hate. I fell in love with both characters. They were gorgeous, smart, strong, snarky and funny.

Although it was set in the present, Wylde took us back in time as needed to fill in gaps and provide insight into their dynamics. I loved their antics, bantering and pranks. As a novella, it was a quick read and I was craving more. I couldn’t get enough of either of them. I would have loved a full book with more depth; however, it was a short, fun read and I thoroughly enjoyed every word.

4 stars!

A short, fun, sexy enemies-to-lovers romance, this novella is a part of the Reaper’s MC series, but can easily be read as a standalone, sitting nicely alongside the rest of the books but introducing new characters (or maybe characters that have been mentioned before but that I can’t remember… either way, you’ll be fine reading this one on its own).

Eli King is a member of the Reapers MC, and he has just gotten out of prison after doing time for a crime he didn’t commit in order to protect his brothers. Now it’s time for his reward – buying the Starkwood Saloon from his Uncle Gus.

Peaches Taylor has been running the Starkwood for years, and has a deal with Gus – the only father figure she has ever known – to buy it from him. So her entire future is ripped out from under her when she learns that the deal is off and the bar is going to Eli instead.

It’s the latest trigger in a lifetime of animosity between Eli and Peaches. Having met as children, they hated each other instantly, and their childhood was defined with insults, pranks, teasing and bullying. They hate each other. But they are also wildly attracted to each other. Let the fun begin!

Peaches Taylor had crawled under my skin when I was seven years old, and by now, I was addicted to the sensation. Sooner or later, I’d bend her over that bar for real.
Until then, I’d just have to get off by torturing her.

This is a really fun set-up. The chemistry absolutely sizzles as Eli and Peaches battle their feelings for each other while fighting for control of the bar that they both care so deeply for, and the long history between them makes everything so much more intense.

I wanted him. Wanted him in ways that just weren’t right, because nobody should fantasize about fucking their mortal enemy.

The turning point for them happens naturally, and I loved watching things change as they finally act on all of that sexual tension. It’s hot and steamy with a nice amount of feels, and it ties in so well to their history and everything else that is unfolding in the story.

The book ends in a great place with an epilogue that left me with a big grin on my face, and I loved it.

4 stars.

2 Peaches and Eli Stars

I thought this had the potential to have more stars but I couldn't get past the behaviour of the heroine, Peaches. This is a novella connected to the Reapers MC series and Eli has been released from Prison for a crime he never committed but had served time out of loyalty to others. Peaches and Eli have known each other since they were 5 and 7 respectively but she has hated him for most of the time. She is STILL punishing him for something he did to a toy of hers when they were small. They are 30 now and she is still acting like a petulant ten year old. I found her a really unlikeable character.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

I do love a good love/hate dynamic and holy moly do I love Joanna Wylde's Reapers. Eli's Triumph is a delightful little snack that I pretty much ate for lunch, a delicious novella jam packed with push and pull between a biker and his childhood nemesis turned rival coworker. This fast paced story was an enjoyable read, a steamy enemies to lovers romance and a sweet reminder of how much I adore this series.

The ending of this novella is a little rushed for my taste, I'll be honest. There's some things I wished were a bit more detailed, declarations I wished I'd heard. But this IS a novella and this IS a biker romance, so I guess I needed to accept that not every biker is going to be that forthcoming with their feelings. But man, I did long for that little something something. Still, this was an unputdownable novella and I appreciated it for exactly what it was.

There's a lot about this novella that hit me right in the feels. There's a bit that left me salivating for more. But all in all, I did enjoy this book quite a lot. I've been dying for more from Joanna Wylde and this was exactly what I needed to satiate the craving. Peaches and Eli's lifetime of mischievous rivalry and steamy sexual tension all plays out in this fast paced read and I ate it right up.

4.5 Stars ~ Jess

A great addition to both the Reaper MC Series and the 1001 Dark Nights. This can be read as a standalone but can also be enjoyed with the rest of the Wylde's series.

Eli is finally home and ready to settle into his life. To make all of that even more possible he is ready to purchase Starkwood Saloon. The only problem is that his nemesis works there and also wants to buy the bar.

Peaches has put in all of the necessary work to make Starkwood hers. She has big dreams for the place and it was promised to her by her Gus, the man who owns it now. Gus is not just her boss but her ex-step-father and one of the people she has grown to count on her whole life. When she finds out that Eli is going to be allowed the bar over her, things get pretty ugly.

Peaches and Eli have a history together. One that isn't so pretty actually. There were things like snakes and disfigured stuffed animals involved in the making of their great war. They love to fight with each other and it something they both excel at and is actually pretty awesome to read. Their banter and chemistry was off the charts, even when one of them is armed with a knife.

This is more than an enemies-to-lovers book. There was this old but hurtful story that needed to get fleshed out and you learn more about these characters through the telling of their past and present. I really enjoyed this novella and even though it was short on pages it didn't lack in story. It read like a fully formed novel but I do wish there was more to it. There was not a lot of information about the club or the other MC members because it was solely focused on Eli and Peaches, so someone who has never read any of the other books can pick this one up and not feel like they are missing anything but certainly make you want to see what else these books have to offer. Ms. Wylde has this way of building tension and she writes a strong, slightly crazy women like no other.

Hopefully, we see more from her in the coming year because I am a huge fan and truly look forward to whatever she puts out next.

Eli and Peaches story is sinfully sexy and left me wanting more! Joanna Wylde is a force to be reckoned with! I freaking love her words! She's officially my unicorn author!!!

About Eli's Triumph:

Eli's Triumph is a novella to the Reaper's MC series. This book can be read as a complete standalone.

Peaches has always felt envious towards Eli, even when they were kids. At the age of five she plotted ways to get rid of him, Snakes in the bed was her best trick. But still Eli stayed and drove her stepfather, Gus, further away from her. Or so it seemed in a young one's eyes.

But now Peaches isn't a kid, she's nearing thirty and the only thing she wants out of life is too own and manage the Starkwood Saloon. But her plans are about to get squashed. Because Eli has his own plans of owning Starkwood, and Gus is right beside him.

My Thoughts:

I loved Eli and Peaches back and forth relationship. There was so much fire and heat and the endless banter made for some kickass gasoline! I have been craving a good enemies to lovers romance and this was the exact fix I was searching for.

Eli's need to irritate Peaches at every turn was freaking hilarious. If Peaches wasn't such a spitfire, I'd be telling a different tale but because she threw back what he was dishing, I loved every bit of it.
Throughout this novel, you can feel the heat between the two and the endless yearning to get over the past and start anew. But because both E and P are so freaking stubborn they had to cross mountains to get to the good stuff.

I rated this 4.5 stars because, even though I loved it, I was left wanting more! I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Eli and Peaches. These two lit the pages on fire and I wanted to feel more of that heat!

Overall, Eli's Triumph was a great addition to the Reaper's MC series. I seriously can't get over how much I am still obsessing over this series. It is and probably will always be one of my favorite MC series. I highly recommend this one to everyone looking for a fun enemies to lovers read with an mc twist. It's badass!

5 Star Review Eli’s Triumph (Reapers MC #6.7) by Joanna Wylde
I am a big fan of Joanna Wylde and her Reaper MC series. This is book 6.7 in the series which is one of my favourite MC series of all time. As with all the previous books in this series, Eli’s Triumph was gritty, realistic and extremely well written.
This is Eli King and Peaches Taylor’s, enemies to lovers story. Every time I read a Reaper MC book, I fall more in love with Ms.Wylde’s books. Her characters are always strong, the women feisty and the men so darn Alpha it almost hurts. They love hard, play hard and there is just something about these men and their women that ticks all the boxes for me.
Eli has given up so much for the Reapers MC and now he is back and ready to settle down, ready to take ownership of the bar Gus has promised him, the only thing standing in his way is his childhood nemesis Preaches, who also happens to want the Starkwood Saloon.
There was plenty of tension and drama, hot and heavy scenes and so much build up that I was totally engrossed from the start. This is one heck of a roller coaster read to be honest and I found myself both happy and sad on occasion.

It was pretty cute, and though we got told a lot about OW we (surprisingly) didn't see any so it was alright. I also appreciated that Peaches didn't forgive Gus easily. I'd have liked to read more about her history with Eli though, the novella format didn't really do them justice but novellas are all Wylde seems to be writing for this series nowadays.

Well this one was far better than the last. The last had a lot of promise and didn’t deliver.

No I love yous said and yet we had a convincing HEA. There were a few plot holes that could have been caught by a good beta.

Otherwise I enjoyed this one. However, I must admit I missed the club experience we got in the regular novels.

Other than that, solid read. Great narration.

Read an EXCERPT here.

I love so much diving back into Reapers MC world! Joanna Wylde never fails in delivering a captivating story even when in a novella format. It's short but packs just a right punch of biker alpha we all love and crave from her stories.

Eli King is exactly that man who knows which buttons to push to piss Peaches Taylor O-F-F. Those two delivered so much sass and love-hate! Peaches was never one to share even when she was a small kid and Eli invaded her world. Something she doesn't grow out of as at the return of fresh out of stint-in-jail-Eli is given ownership of what she wanted forever, the beloved bar she works at.

Their long standing history of hate quickly turns into super hot love. It is fantastic! It must be read!

Sadly, I could not get behind this one for Peaches. Eli tries to even it out and do the right thing but the history behind all of that relationship and Gus was just too uneven for me to buy into.

I'm still laughing, I loved the history our two leads had. Eli King has been a thorn in Peaches side forever. It started when she was a little girl and it only grew from there. The battle of wills these two engaged in from a young age didn't end in childhood. Nope it went right through high school, and into adult hood.

What else was there, simmering was the sexual chemistry. Talk about a slow build. It bubbled and it nearly exploded until Eli left. Not by choice but loyalty. Peaches never forgave him, she could have helped him but he wouldn't allow it. Now he's back and the tension that surrounds them is just as strong.

Peaches has worked the last seven years at the Starkwood Inn along side Gus. Her goal is to own it. With some money behind her and Gus willing to help her it's nearly within her grasp. But not for long.

Eli is also back, and he's just been given the news, Starkwood Inn is going to be his. But when Peaches finds out let's just say a woman scorned and one as volatile as Peaches is one you don't want to tangle with. Eli know's this from past experience but he can't help but be turned on by her firey temper.

The only thing I'd wished for was more involvement from the Reapers.

Before this book came out I read a comment from the author about how she’s finally gotten around to reading this book and is putting it out soon. Umm didn’t you write the book? I suspect not. I really think this could have been a ghostwriter on this one but whatever.... it sucked. This was a pointless book about two people who hate each other, the H is a Reaper, has absolutely no chemistry with the h and argue over the sale of a shitty bar the entire book. And the bar is owned by a Reaper who is the H uncle. And that is the extent of this being a biker book, as in, not at all a biker book. I had bought this book and returned it. Thanks to my Goodreads friend Page for loaning it. Glad she spared me spending money on this pointless book.

Review by Lisa Kane

If Joanna Wylde has written it, I've read it. She's one of my MC queens and I bow down to her over the top, make you or break you hero's.

Eli King has just gotten out of prison after serving five years for a crime he didn't commit. He had his reasons for taking the rap, and now he's finally going to get his reward. His uncle Gus, is selling him the Starkwood Saloon.

Peaches Taylor has been running the Starkwood Saloon for years. Two years ago, she and Gus had a talk about her buying the bar. At the end of the year, in six months time, the bar will be hers.

Hmm....I think we got trouble in River City with a capital T.

I knew Gus had talked to her lasts year about buying him out, and she was gonna be pissed when she learned that I was taking her place. Again.

Again? See when Peaches was a kid, Gus was her momma's boyfriend. She was the apple of his eye. Up until his nephew Eli came to live with them. Then it was Eli and Gus. No time for Peaches.
Peaches should have known Gus would screw her over again.

Things would never be the same between us again, because Mom had been right about him.
I'd be damned if I'd give him another chance to hurt me.

Eli knows that owning the bar was Peaches' dream, but it's his dream too. Being a Reaper and owning the bar-that's all he wants. Well, that and a feisty woman who is hating his guts right about now.

"You always find a way to make it worse, don't you?"

Peaches might hate Eli, but all her life, she's wanted him.

Eli has a proposition for her.

"I need you here. I want you to manage the place. Officially. You're already doing all the work. Might as well have the title and authority."

Two people who want each other but want their dream too. The same dream.

"Peaches, do you really think I want to take your dream away from you?" he asked. "I didn't plan for you to get hurt, but Gus promised me this bar a long time before he ever talked to you about it. I have dreams, too."

Peaches and Eli have a lifetime of history. Always at each other's throats. Never getting what they really want from each other.

Will that ever change or will they both call truce and have what they both want?

"You know, it turns me on when you're mad enough to call me names,"I said, which was true. Her eyes had reclaimed their sparkle, and her cheeks were flushed.
"You're like a two-year-old."
"And yet you keep coming back for more, "I pointed out.

Thank you Joanna Wylde and 1,001 Dark Nights for bringing us back to the Reapers MC, I've missed this series. Eli and Peaches have a long and complicated past, Eli moved in with his Uncle Gus when he was 7 years old and Peaches was already living with Gus because her mom and Gus were together, long story short there was a lot of jealousy on Peaches part because Eli was the one receiving Gus's attention now.

As they grew up things didn't get easier for them as their hatred for one another grew so did their attraction, you know that fine line between love and hate well they almost crossed it the night Eli was arrested and sent to prison. Now that he's been released and served five years for a crime he didn't commit he's looking to get the one thing he's always wanted and was promised the Starkwood Saloon, the only hitch is that Gus had promised Peaches that she could buy it from him when he was ready to retire.

This was a fast paced, fun, sexy read that moved back and forth through time giving us different glimpses of Peaches and Eli's life together. I really enjoyed this read, the only thing I wish is that it was longer! 1,001 Dark Nights is a great way to introduce readers to series that they may not have read before and if they have it gives them a chance to revisit the series with characters that may not have otherwise gotten their stories. If you are new to the Reapers MC, this is a perfect chance for you to jump in and see what the MC is all about. I bet once you get a taste you'll want to go back and start from the beginning. Happy Reading!!!

We are back in Hallies Falls for this one. It seems like a typical enemies-to-lovers story, but it's more than that. It's about hate, lust, love, and friendship.

Although Peaches calls Eli her nemesis, there is history and an underlying trust there. They lived together as kids and have known each other most of their lives. They've taunted, teased, fought each other, but if anyone ever tried to mess with them, then they stood together. There is this underlying attraction and camaraderie with potential for more under their antagonistic facades. These two definitely have chemistry and fire.

Eli was forced to go away to prison and she never quite understood the circumstances. But now he is back and is wanting to buy the same bar she has worked at and has been saving up to buy herself. Emotions are running high and she is on alert. She is tough, stubborn, and sometimes vengeful, and and now is ready for war. But Eli is equally stubborn and has his own ideas about what he wants to happen.

I really liked Eli. He was so much more than I expected. I loved his point of view and how different it seemed from how she saw things. I felt bad for him and what he had been through. He still had some secrets that Peaches was determined to figure out. I liked Peaches too, she was sassy, feisty, and kind of impulsive. I loved their banter and shenanigans both as kids and adults.

This is a novella so I was not expecting something too long or complicated. But I would have really liked to have one more chapter to transition between the last chapter and epilogue to see the full resolution of the conflict. But I enjoyed jumping back into this world. This is a short, sometimes snarky and sometimes sweet and sexy, hate-love story.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This is Peaches and Eli’s story. Peaches has spent the last 7 years saving up to buy the place she works. But when Eli comes back that deal is suddenly off the table. He wants the bar and is willing to fight dirty to get it. They have always fought, and this will be no different. They are about to go to war over the bar the both want. Who will come out on the top? Once the war starts with al the sparks that fly will they lose sight of the prize and find something even better to win?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

Wow ~! What a cute story ! This current tale was filled with a ton of laughs.Peaches and Eli have a past and grew up together with the same man looking over them but, from the moment they met he became her Nemesis .Though-out the years Peaches and Eli's relationship remained that way but, there was always this underlying current of sexual tension and desire.

We actually enjoyed the story as it was fun and flirty and had a great cast of characters and more that a few betrayals but, all is explained and desires explored. The story was filled with love and forgiveness and all about second chances and writing the wrongs of ones past making you into a better man but, also showing someone you loved them more than life itself and will protect you with everything they have even of those deeds are done from afar .

We loved both Eli and Peaches they made a cute couple and just perfect for each other Peaches the saucy minx and Eli the biker bad boy who has know problem expressing his love for his women even if he goes about it in is own quirky ways and has no problem wanting to be owned by this women in every way.

"We loved it !"
