For Brodie McFadden and Dakota McCoy, the Christmas holiday should be simply magical. They’ve made the decision on their wedding—Christmas Eve out in central Virginia at the newly renovated historic lodge belonging to old friends. As many members of the Krewe who can show up will, Kody’s friends and family will be up from Key West, and while Brodie’s diva mom and patient dad are dead, they’ll still make an appearance. It will be wonderful. But then, chopping wood and waiting for Kody to arrive, Brodie hears a police-bulletin on the airwaves about a large white rabbit in a gas mask carrying a machete—correction! A man in a large white rabbit costume, etcetera! Driving through the snow-covered countryside, Kody has little on her mind other than the festivities about to take place—until she almost runs right into the rabbit. His warning for her not to move forward proves to be solid when an explosion rears through the road. The rabbit proves to be Captain Lynch, a soldier suffering from PTSD, and he’s escaped from a nearby hospital. But who is telling the truth? The rabbit—or the doctors? Brodie and Kody must discover the truth if there is to be a wedding—and to bring back Peace and Goodwill to Man!

Brodie McFadden and Dakota, Kody, McCoy have made a decision on their wedding. They'll be holding it on Christmas Eve at their friend's refurbished historic lodge where as many Krewe members as possible and family members, those alive and not, will be attending. While chopping wood, Brodie hears an announcement on the police radio about a large white rabbit wearing a gas mask and carrying a machete. Kody is driving to the lodge when she sees a large man in a white rabbit costume wearing a gas mask and carrying a machete. She stops for him and he pulls her into the forest and into his world. The man turns out to be Captain Lynch, a soldier suffering from PTSD, who had escaped from a nearby hospital. Kody talks him into trusting Brodie and together they bring him to the lodge where it's discovered that things at the hospital are not on the up and up.
Brodie and his brothers begin looking into things while Kody looks after her rabbit. This was a great read and I highly recommend it.
Again, same H/h as Echoes of Evil and takes place straight after Haunted Be the Holidays. Brodie and Kody have now organised to have their wedding just before Christmas in a remote Virginia resort... but things are never that easy when it comes to the Krewe.
Kody is stopped on the way to the resort by a man in a rabbit suit wearing a gas mask and blandishing a machete. But gut instincts tell her to trust the man and she takes off with him into the woods! It's fiction at its best!
If you want an interesting Christmas story, this one might be the one. A nice short read.
Alice in wonderland meets a little christmas magic. this isn't your typical christmas story (and i wans't expecting it to be) but some how, it managed to capture the christmas spirit while being a mildly superntural mystery story, complete with danger and suspense. it walked that balance perfectly.
Combine a group of people who are capable of interacting with the dead, recruit them to an elite FBI unit, and then send them out in couples to fall in love-the improbable premise for the paranormal romance series by author Heather Graham somehow just works, making The Krewe of Hunters a very entertaining series.
This e-novella is a direct sequel to Haunted be the Holidays, and picks up as the main protagonists of that story, Brodie and Kody, are about to be married, on Christmas Eve. While they’ve chosen to wed at a historic Virginia tavern that friends have just restored, there wouldn’t be much to the plot without a little conflict. In this case, the drama is introduced by a rabbit-costume-and-gas-mask wearing, machete wielding escapee from a nearby mental institution.
Kody is soon following the Rabbit through snow-covered woods, and learns he is trying to protect her and some “Golden Dragon” from the “dragon slayers.” Despite the odd appearance of this character, his ramblings raise a number of questions, especially when a couple of very suspicious guards from the institution are looking for the Rabbit, and carrying high-powered rifles.
Brodie, with assistance from Krewe members coming to the wedding, learn the Rabbit is actually a distinguished military veteran, suffering from PTSD. Still that doesn’t explain his behavior, until further clues point that while the Rabbit, a.k.a. Captain Avery, retired army veteran, has actually witnessed something illegal and deadly happening at Virginia Hansom Hospital. Now the Krewe have to keep Avery safe, uncover the conspiracy at the hospital, and arrest the involved staff, and all before the Christmas wedding.
What struck me about this story is that despite numerous Lewis Carroll references, Captain Lynch did not go off on a tangential journey into Neverland, but rather became quite lucid as soon as the drugs were out of his system. While the analogy being played out could have made an interesting story, it would have been a quite different one, and might have been detrimental to the general plot of this short novella. As it was, the story was quickly but satisfying resolved of the main conflict, and proceeded to the wedding and the romantic end. I will say that one scene very near the end brought me to tears, as Kody was allowed to see the spirit of her late father on her wedding day.
I was in the mood for a light-hearted Christmas story when I “picked up” this e-book, and I was happy with my purchase, as this book rates a solid four stars. I would recommend it to any readers who want a quick read in paranormal, romance, adventure, or urban fantasy genres.
I really enjoyed this little look into the Krewe lives. One of my favorite things from Heather Graham is that she writes the novellas about Krewe couples that we have seen get together already. So we never really lose or forget them and we get mini-glimpses into their continuing lives. This particular story starts out seeming so odd, and ends up being an interesting mystery and a lovely love story. It's a great jaunt into the Krewe and Ms Graham writes a group that I would love to be able to hang out with!
A beautiful albeit not traditional Christmas story
This is up as one of my favorite Krewe stories. I loved the tie in to mental health, conspiracy and drug trade with our typical ghostly assistance and romantic suspense! Kody is a fantastic character and I love how she reacts and addresses all facets of life. The ending had me in tears and was just a beautiful Christmas moment. Can’t wait for more Krewe moments!
Enjoyable storythat I have come to know Heather Graham will always produced. It seemed a bit far fetched to have a white rabbit running around at first, but soon the plot took a twist and it became exciting and acceptable to chase the white rabbit. I love these mysteries with the paranormal twist. I also love how old characters keepreappearing. If you only have a short time, this is an excellent read and will leave you smiling
As always I love Heather Graham 's Krewe of Hunters! This one was great for the Christmas time. I'm so glad the ending was as it was! ( Don't want to give it away ) . It brought tears to my eyes. Great story line rich with intrigue. Absolutely wonderful!!
While I always love the Krewe books this one is really special to me. I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically with homeless veterans. I see their struggles with addiction, PTSD everyday. This story was handled with class. There's no easy or quick fix. But we fight the good fight.
This book was a bit different from her other Krewe of Hunters books. It was well written as usual and her characters were fascinating, especially some of the ghosts. The descriptions of the winter scenes and the wedding scene were beautifully done. A good book that I would recommend.
I love Heather Graham books! You need to read them all. The Krewe of Hunters books especially. I've read them all and have not been disappointed.
These books are fun and exciting to read. You will definitely want to buy the next book, then the next. I've kept them all and read them over and over.
A man in a white rabbit costume wearing a gas mask and wielding a machete is an amazing beginning to a really good story. Solving a mystery in one day and having a Christmas wedding complete with ghosts makes for a tale that’s hard to put down. Heather has done it again!
As a die hard Krewe of Hunters fan, I naturally enjoyed this book. Any time I read one of the books in the series, I can't put it down until I've read it. Maybe perhaps not the best in the series, with not quite the climax I was hoping for but enjoyable all the same.
I enjoy the Krewe Hunter's books. The McFadden brothers together with ghosts and villains, what could be better? Oh, a Christmas wedding with other Krewe members. The head Dragon slayer was a surprise. With all H.G.'s twists and turns I don't always guess the perpetrator.
I wasn’t that into this one. I felt like it had a strong-ish start, then boring middle, strong climax scene in the cemetery where all is revealed then a slooooooow ending. Plus I pictured the 'White Rabbit' as Joey Fatone's Masked Singer, Season One Character lol
I felt Maeve was over played and various references to the past were repeated too much.
I really enjoyed and loved this story! Couldn't put it down! Spent the afternoon reading it instead of doing what I was supposed to do. Gave it 5 stars and would give 10 if I could. Very interesting and gripping. I love Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunter series! My favourite!
It’s almost Christmas. There’s a wedding planned and people are expected to arrive. A guest who is a complete surprise is a big white rabbit, wearing a gas mask, carrying a machete. All is explained and resolved at the end.
A Really Good Book, But All the Krewe Are.. kept me up LATE HAD TO FINISH
I really like all the Krewe and Harrison books.. Enjoyed Everyone in this one.. and Once I started it Could not stop.. The Whole Idea was good.. love, Fun and very enjoyable... Enjoy..
I really like your books, try and get them from e-book format of at library. I enjoyed this book because of the theme, the white rabbit and marriage of another order member.
The writing was stilted and a little disjointed at times. The use of the same phrases and descriptive words over and over was slightly irritating. How many times do you need to say the landscape looked like 'crystal'?
This is one series that I love redaing. No matter if it's a full story or a novella. This whole series shows the meaning of Christmas in every book. It also shows the true meaning of friendship.
Well, the title says it all!!! A short Christmas Krewe story with a large white rabbit wearing a gas mask with a machete!! Oh, there is a mystery to solve and a wedding!!!
It was nice to visit the Krewe for a happy occasion. The little interruption they encounter was a strange but all worked out in the end of course with a little help from a ghost.
Normally I prefer longer stories with fully developed characters and storylines….but, this was a perfect read. It had suspense, action, romance, love, etc. highly recommend this book.
Brody and Koda are planning their wedding for Christmas but a mysterious white rabbit appears and they are drawn into helping him save someone from the Red Queen. Read if the do and how. Or do they get married on Christmas.
