KF Breene is quickly becoming one of my favorite paranormal writers. This opened with some crazy paranormal training as Lexi works to hone her ghostly defensive skills against Kieren’s men… with scary results! Kieran’s dad, the demigod of San Francisco, is onto them, and has figured out Lexi is more than they’re passing her off to be, and worse, Kieran has received some news about Lexi’s past that puts her in even greater peril. Things are heating up!

But the best scenes of all for me continue to be the ones with Lexi and her teenage children/wards Daisy and Mordecai, the human and werewolf boy she adopted off the street. These three are a snark-fest when they are together and soooo funny. Seeing the family dynamic progress and morph, especially with Kieran and his fears added to the mix? I was on the edge of my seat. Mordecai continues to grow more powerful now that he’s been healed of his shifter disease, and the pack now sees him as a threat. Seeing Lexi in mother bear mode fighting alongside Mordecai? Yes, please. Without getting into spoiling the ending, things ramp up into some really juicy conflict and this goes to quite an interesting place, both for this book AND for where the series could go next. Definitely excited!

Sin & Salvation is the third (& hopefully not the last!) book in K.F. Breene's Demigod of San Francisco series and it picks up Lexi's story not long after the end of the previous book. Lexi and her wards have been busy training with Kieran and his Six but no matter how much they learn they know they'll never be a match for Kieran's father Valens. They're running out of time though, Valens has noticed he is missing several employees and it won't be long before he realises that Kieran's mother has also been freed. The only question is whether Kieran can pull together enough allies to stand a chance at surviving the final confrontation with Valens.

Obviously this series has been building towards a major battle since the first book but it's a good job Lexi has been training hard because the wait is finally over. Lexi could choose to run but she would never leave Kieran to fight alone and her wards Mordecai and Daisy aren't willing to sit out the fight either. Lexi would prefer to keep her kids out of danger entirely but if Valens wins then nowhere will ever be safe for anyone so their best bet is to win the war.

This book had everything I was hoping for, more romance between Lexi and Kieran, more of the wonderful family dynamics between Lexi and the kids, more of Kieran's Six (including us FINALLY finding out what each of their powers are & boy are there some revelations there!) and even more of Lexi's new ally Bria who adds a lot of humour to the series. We get an epic battle that is going to have far reaching consequences for everyone involved and although this book doesn't end with a cliffhanger I feel like there is still plenty of scope for more stories involving these characters. I'd happily read more books about Lexi and Kieran but I can't help hoping that each of the Six might get a story or two too.

The battle from the first two books finally happened...

... and it was EPIC! I couldn’t read fast enough!

Still loving this series. The claiming scene though 😮‍💨🥵😅💦🫠 🔥 jeeeezus Kieran! 🥵🔥😮‍💨

previous review
Alexis has been training, so have her wards, Mordecai and Daisy. Alexis has been trying to hone her skills and improve what she can do, getting tested from the Six and being put in challenging situations in order to tap into her power more. At this point, Valens doesn’t know what’s going on, doesn’t know how powerful she’s getting, doesn’t realize that Kieran (his own son) wants to take over because of all the bad things that he has done. Kieran is hiding Lexi, his secret weapon, up his sleeve because she’s getting more powerful each day.

Valens isn’t stupid. He has spies that are piecing the pieces of the puzzle together and he’s finally realizing that he’ll have to battle his son, a son that has been disappointing him up until this point because he’s not as cunning as him, but now he feels a little bit proud of him, but isn’t willing to find out how proud he should be at the expense of his ruling/life.

Meanwhile, Mordecai‘s existence is being known as well. There are so many things happening, so many battles that need to be had, and seeing Alexis get into the pocket of her increasing power was simply amazing to see.

Can we talk about how hot, sexy, visceral, and mind-numbing the connection between Alexis and Kieran is? Oh dear lord, it sizzled every time they were together. The claiming scenes 🥵🔥💦wow! It was unexpectedly (well, I expected it,but damn, it superseded my expectations) delicious!

I can’t wait to see what happens in book 4! The foreshadowing and hints were 😱!

"Be you, Alexis," he whispered near the shell of my ear. "I love you, in every way. No one else's opinion will change that. Just be you."
"I love you, too," I said, and pointed at Chef's Kitchen. "We might as well get some good materials for the guys."
"Good thinking. I hear that store has one hell of a lemon zester."
As we entered the store, I squeezed his hand and leaned my arm against his. "The kids wanted me to get my miracle. They both thought they'd already received theirs, and wanted me to get mine. I never thought I would. Not in my wildest dreams. And yet, here I am, living a fantasy with a man I love. Everything I've done has been worth it. I'd do it all again. You are my miracle, Kieran."
He lifted our joined hands and kissed the back of mine. "You are my salvation."

This one took a little while to get moving, but once it did, it rolled right along and then shit hit hit the fan. I didn't love it as much as book two, but it was seriously good and very satisfying, when all was said and done. All the loose ends are tied up, and at the same time, the epilogue hints at more to come without feeling like I'm standing on the dreaded cliff named Hanger. Good on you for that, Ms. Breene. Really, there's nothing worse than a story's plot wrapping up, and then boom, a whole new story arc starting up in the epilogue. This one is done just right.

While I was reading, I thought two things specifically:
1.) I really hope this isn't the last we see of these characters.
Like I said earlier, the epilogue shows that there's more to come for Alexis and Kieran down the road. And, with that, I'm sure we'll see more of Daisy and Mordecai, and Bria and the Six. I will be anxiously awaiting that, but I would also really love to see more of Bria and Zorn, and the rest of the Six, individually. I bet there's some serious potential for their own stories. I'd also read the shit out of Daisy and Mordecai's stories as/after they grow up. Basically, I will be anxiously awaiting any and all books that include any and all of these characters.
2.) The lead up to the battle is taking entirely too long.
While I was going along, it felt like it was taking way too much time to get to this big showdown between Kieran and Valens. I mean, really, it's been building since the first book. Everything they did was to prepare for this battle. Most of what they talked about was strategy on how to prepare for this battle. Then here's the battle. And when it was over, I was thinking, hey, that wasn't enough "battle." But, I've totally changed my mind. You need the extended lead up to get a sense of everyone's mindset and the severity of what's at stake. And if the big battle scene had been extended, I know myself well enough to say, I would have thought it felt stretched out needlessly. So upon reexamination, I guess my thoughts that it was "taking too long" was really just my anticipation for what was going to happen.

So all in all, book 3 is solid, a very satisfying ending point for the story arc with a magical unicorn level of tease that is the epilogue. I'm anxious to see what's awaiting beyond the horizon for all of these characters.
And, as per my usual…spoilers and way too long (but what I can only assume is edging the line of acceptable for a review, in regards to copyright law) excerpts below.

"Before you, I'd never bought a wardrobe for a woman," he continued in a low hum, "let alone on two separate occasions. I'd never stolen a woman's pants to get her size so a team of advisors could pick out the perfect attire for her body size and personality. And I've never given a woman her own drawer, let alone twice, both times without her ever having stayed over. Yours is that one, by the way." He pointed to a reclaimed wood dresser stained in espresso across the room. "Bottom right. If you need more room, I can make it."
Butterflies fluttered through my belly. Warmth squeezed my heart. "And a house?" I asked with a small smile and embarrassingly glassy eyes. "Is that a door prize usually?"
He didn't match my smile. "I've never dated, in the traditional sense. Or thought of a woman every waking moment. Or promised I would protect her regardless of having no assurance she was mine to keep." He pushed back, his stormy eyes intense. "Or allowed her to stay by my side when everything in me knows I should force her to go."
"Right, yes. The ol' don't waste your heart on me shtick."
"You shouldn't. I'm a mess. I'm dangerous. My father loved my mother as intensely as I love you, and he ended up locking her in a castle on an island."
I froze at his words, unable to focus on the last. It was hard to breathe through the emotions welling up inside of me.
"But damn it, Alexis, I know you're meant for me. I feel it. Our first meeting wasn't a chance encounter. Not really. You weren't terrified by a dangerous stranger following you around, threatening and propositioning you in turns, because you lack good sense, but because you recognized your destiny. It was tolerating someone who would stand by you while you claimed your birthright."
I struggled to keep the emotion out of my tone. "Just my destiny?"
"You freed my mother when no one else knew how, and I know you'll free me of my father, too. Just when I needed you most, I found you. With your help, I'll stay on the path my mother set me on. One of compassion and morality. You make me a better man, Alexis. You'll make me a better leader, should I ever rise to that mantle. You are not just my destiny, you are my salvation."
I blew out a breath slowly, tears clouding my vision.
"Take that house, Alexis, for you and your kids. Give them a better life. Let yourself live a better life." He paused as he stared down into my eyes. "Be mine, and only mine, as I will be yours."
I held his gaze for a long moment, and finally, against all logic and sense, gave in. Kinda.
"Make me."

~

"That soul thing isn't permanent," Bria retorted.
"It's permanent now," I muttered, my face heating. Bria's shocked face rounded on me. I threw up my hands. "I didn't mean to. His magic was searing across my skin and… I… It just felt right."
Mordecai stuffed his hands into his pockets. "It took me awhile to come around, but not many men are strong enough to protect Alexis in a way she can't protect herself. And even fewer men are confident enough to accept her attitude and independence." Even though his voice was soft, it somehow cut through the room, keeping the rest of us quiet. "He's everything she's always asked the ceiling for after coming home from the bar. And even if he wasn't…he makes her happy in a way nothing else ever has. I want her to finally get her miracle." His intense and heartfelt gaze hit mine. "I think he's it, Alexis. I really do. I think he's the miracle you deserve."
Silence filled the kitchen and heat prickled my eyes.
Bria sighed and shook her head. "Do you know what's annoying? I can't form a rebuttal because then I'll just look like an unromantic asshole."
"If the shoe fits," Zorn murmured.
Her jaw dropped and she stared at him for one tense beat. "Really, Zorn?" she demanded, and my small hairs stood on end. I took a step away as Jack shifted uncomfortably. "Okay, fine. What do you see when you look at the magically shackled chick?"
Zorn's jaw clenched and his eyes glimmered defiantly. He focused solely on Bria when he said, "I see a woman who I will die to protect."
It didn't sound like he was talking about me.
"Whom," Jack mumbled.
Bria rounded on him. "Are you serious?"
He shrugged. "Grammar."

~

He leaned back warily, his expression one of exhaustion. "I didn't give you a chance to say feck off. I did this without your permission. I locked you into forever…without even asking."
I nodded again, because that was true. Of course, I'd done the same thing by tying our souls together permanently.
"Everything points to my having made an irreversible error-one you should never forgive me for." He sagged. "But when you asked me if there was a way to hide it… I lost myself for a moment. The thought tore at something deep in here." He pounded a fist to his sternum, the same place my dynamite kept going off. I don't know that I could stop myself from marking you again. Even now, after I laid out what a terrible idea it was" he shrugged helplessly- "I want to do it all over again. I want to sizzle my magic across your skin, and warn anyone else away from touching you. I want to share everything I have, and am, with you. I want you by my side for whatever comes next." He threw up his hands before letting them fall again. "I don't know where that leaves us, other than I'm sorry I didn't ask you, and I hope you can forgive me."
I stared at him, uncertain. "So…you wouldn't want to wipe away the mark if you could?"
His look was completely open. Raw. "No. Despite all the reasons I should, I don't. But depending on how pissed you are, I'll happily pretend."
A tear broke loose and tracked down my face. I didn't want to let relief take hold of me before I could knock on something wooden.
He reached up and wiped my tear away. "I love you, Alexis. Each new thing I learn about you makes me want you more. This love may be new, but the roots have thoroughly taken hold. I have every reason to believe it will keep growing until it drives words from the poets and makes even Ed Sheeran's love ballads pale in comparison."
I gave him watery laugh. "And what if I do leave?"
Anger rolled across his face before he regained control. A heaviness filled the moment. He blew out a slow breath. "I'll take up yoga." A crooked smile tweaked his lips. "Honestly, it'll kill me. It'll drive me to rage. I do have my father in me, and I am possessive to a fault." He dragged his thumb across my cheek. "But I do not own you. You are free to do as you please. I will not hurt you. I will never hurt you. I'll put checks and balances in place in case I should lose my mind. I will never make a woman suffer as my father made my mother suffer." His fist clenched. "Never."
I hadn't needed to hear any of that. I already believed it, or I wouldn't have let things go this far in the first place.
He looked at me for a long beat. Finally, he whispered, "I still don't know where we go from here."
I fought back laughter. As he sat there, looking to me for guidance, he seemed almost like a normal man, sitting with the woman he loved, wondering if he was in the dog house.
"I thought Demigods were supposed to have all the answers," I hedged. I snuck my fist up and tapped the window sill. Just in case.
His mouth-watering smile made my stomach flip. "Sometimes we need a little help deciphering which way the wind is blowing."
I shrugged, finally letting relief take hold of me. He'd told me the truth of his situation, and now it was probably fair for me to be equally open with him.
"You had me going there. I thought you regretted the mark. I freaked out a little more than is probably normal."
He leaned closer and trailed his thumb across my jaw. "I will never regret that mark. Unlike my father, I don't see my connection to you as a weakness. I've just attached myself to one of the wildest, most unpredictable women I've ever met. It'll be a crazy ride, I have no doubt."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "You marked Bria, too? Because I'm not down with sharing."
He chuckled and brushed his lips against mine.

~

"You good?" Kieran asked, taking his seat. The rest of the guys followed suit.
"It's all rigged up." Donovan leaned over his phone, which he'd set on the counter. "Three hours before dawn. They'll lose some really great magical war weapons in the blast. Fuck 'em."
"Agreed." Bria put up her glass.
"Wait, wait, wait…" Donovan slapped off the faucet, dried his hands, and hurried over. He sat, poured himself some tea, and put up his glass to join the cheer. "Fuck 'em."
"Fuck 'em," everyone chorused.
Kieran dropped his hand to Alexis's leg and gave her a light squeeze as food was passed around and plates were loaded. He wished Henry could have gotten away to join them, but Henry was running the surveillance team keeping tabs Valens and his people.
"I came to San Francisco thinking I'd lost the heart of my family," Kieran began. "My mother. I had my Six, and Bria joined us, but in some ways, we were lacking a center. A hub to gather around." He rubbed Alexis's leg and looked on her beautiful face. "We found it here. With you." He looked at Daisy, then Mordecai. "With all of you. Now we're a stronger unit than we've ever been, and it's because of your willingness to include us. We won't go into this fight with only vengeance on the mind. Not anymore. We'll go into this fighting for a future. Fighting to secure happiness in this territory-for ourselves, and for everyone Valens has trampled and and kept down. I'm honored to take this leap with you all."
"Fuckin' A!" Bria put her fist into the air. "I can't wait to unleash the dead with you all!"
Everyone paused with their glasses heading upward.
"You just couldn't give him the moment, could you?" Jack asked her. "You couldn't just be normal for two seconds."
"What?" She let her glass hover in the air. "Would it be better if I called them intensely powerful cadavers that will widen the eyes of our foe?"
Jack sighed and shook his head, clinking his glass off Zorn's. "Odd taste in women, bro. That's the last word on it. Odd taste in women."
Kieran smiled, bittersweet. His gaze glued to Alexis's face.

An action-packed finale to the trilogy

Sin & Salvation is the third book of the Demigods of San Francisco series. To fully appreciate, understand and enjoy this I really would recommend reading the previous two books, Sin & Chocolate and Sin & Magic . In the books we meet Alexis, her two wards Daisy and Mordecai, the Demi-god Kieran, his posse of bad-ass magic uses (called The Six) and Kieran's evil ol' dad, Valens. This, like both previous books, had it's own complete adventure along with an overarching plot that finally comes to fruition, sort of.

This is one jam-packed story, with a fast flowing plot, lots of action and adventure, myriad plot twists, jaw-dropping reveals and some seriously sexy times squeezed into the mix. To be honest there is so much story that I already feel as though it needs a re-read as I'm sure I missed some important stuff.

That wasn't my idea of a fun lover's tryst. Kids could really water down the romance of a situation.
I texted back:
Are you sure about the kids? They have chores to do.
They did now, at any rate.

Oh and I've not even mentioned the banter yet. The banter between the members of The Six, between Daisy and Mordecai and between Bria and, well, just about everyone. I'm pretty sure that wasn't all of it either!

We get to see Alexis trying to learn how to use and control her powers before Valens realises just how close to home his biggest enemies lie. We also learn more about the six and their magical abilities, along with Daisy and Mordecai coming into their own. In fact I would love this pair, and the six, to have their own books sometime in the future.

Full of feels, this book really touched my emotions, as well as making me giggle. It held my attention through out and wrapped up all the loose ends, whilst dropping a few new threads to lure us into future books. However it's the softest of cliff-hangers, and rather more of a segue into another adventure. One that I will only be too happy to journey along with.

"Come with me."
I wouldn't have a choice. This train was smashing into the station.

Really enjoyed this one - Lexi's power and her development of it is really fantastic.

Kieran grew on me, but honestly? He's not consistent. Kieran of book 3 feels like an entirely different person from Kieran of book 1. I just don't buy that he could make a complete 180 in personality in the like ... 4 weeks that he's had a relationship with Lexi (I'm not counting the 3-ish weeks prior when he was a stalking, manipulative monster) - seriously, how is the guy in book 3 possible the same person who in the opening chapters of book 1 seriously considered running a woman over with his car just because she dared to walk across a driveway (on the fucking sidewalk) that he was trying to speed his Ferrari into? I'm going to ignore that, though, and go with it because I hated that douche from the earlier books. This guy I like quite a bit.

Really, really can't wait to see what happens with Magnus. Next book, please!

Re-read May 2024
As I mentioned in the book 2 review, on re-read I can see a bit more of Kieran's growth in that book, so his growth in this book - while fast - feels a bit more believable. IDK if I was just so pissed at him the first time through that the subtle beats with him didn't sink in (totally possible because I binged the series, and he was AWFUL in book 1, so I was righteously pissed going into 2), or what.

I actually liked this one much better than book 2. This one didn’t drag and has consistent action.

I love when I can see characters grow evolve. Lexi didn’t even know her powers in book 1, but now she is wielding her power with growing confidence while protecting her wards, who also train to wield their individual strengths. Kieran’s understanding of love also evolves and grows as he bonds with Lexi.

A satisfying conclusion to the Kieran and Lexi’s journey. Although this book was more about the blending of their chosen families and defeating the old ways of the Demi-gods that were the parents. I will check out the next series (spin off) when it’s available.

I really enjoyed all the back and forth banter between all the characters in Sin & Salvation. Daisy and Mordecai are still my favourite characters - I'm hoping there are more books to come, I've been stalking the author's website and for now it says the Demigods of San Francisco trilogy, but from the ending in Sin & Salvation it really feels like there is more to come. I would love more books on Daisy, Mordecai and The Six. Great series, have really enjoyed reading it.

4.5 Stars... All the preceding events lead to this moment... A moment of vengeance, restoration, and freedom... Kieran and Alexis have traveled a turbulent journey to discover their true selves and ultimate destiny... Embracing her fears and becoming the being she was always intended to be, Alexis learns the meaning of sacrifice and love for her family... Kieran must own his own history and accept his true nature and the consequences and rewards it can bring... In an epic battle, along with their makeshift family, these characters demonstrate a compelling integrity, courage, and honor that changes the future for all and rectifies the past for those who no longer have a voice... A thrilling read from start to finish with moments of levity found in the banter and sarcastic humor of these characters; also moments of intense chemistry and passion for our MCs as well as a familial love between all characters... Truly could not have asked for more from read:)

Sin & Salvation
Demigods of San Francisco, Book 3

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.

Media Type: Kindle Digital Book
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Dates Read: 12/8/20 - 1/6/21
Stars: 4

The Characters:

Kieran Drusus:
Alexis “Lexi” Price :
Mordecai, Daisy, Bria, Zorn, Jack, Thane, Donovan, Henry, Boman

The Story:

Lexi and Kieran become closer as they continue to prepare for the battle against Kieran’s father Valens. Valens is slowly but surely figuring out his son is working against him and has to recognize the man his son has become. Watching Lexi grow into her powers is fascinating, she is learning by leaps and bounds. Which is a great thing because battle time comes in the second half of this book. All hands are on deck and all magic is in the air. Kieran had quite a few tricks up his sleeve for this battle but the young wards proved to be some of the best.

The writing was great. The pace worked for me. These characters are part of my heart. (I forgot to mention we get to know The Six just a little bit better in this book.) All and all this was a great addition to the series. I will admit I was worried about where the story would go after the battle however the epilogue soothed that worry… and sparked others.

The Random Thoughts:

Sin and Salvation is a gem. Another kick-ass edition to the Demigods of SF series. Lots of hilarious moments (love Bria and her zombies) and some sensual scenes that'll make you blush. So much potential with all the supporting characters, I'm glad the series isn't over yet. The start of the next story arc looks promising.

These books are just excellent.

Not a lot to say beyond that. Just great characters, great relationships, great world building, great plot.

On to the next one. I love finishing an excellent series and then being able to binge read the whole thing!

3.5/5 ⭐️s

I’m still flummoxed by how blasé these characters act with all the danger and high stakes they’re up against.

For the first half of the book, it felt like there was no urgency whatsoever. Lexi, Kieran, and their little family unit know they’re going up against someone with enormous power, but there’s still time for jaunts to local bars and shopping sprees. Lexi’s hunting for a new Burberry handbag while an evil demigod is hunting for her. It’s such a weird vibe.

BUT. Those strange choices led to these moments of confrontation that were just *chef’s kiss* perfection! Lexi in mama bear mode was my favorite moment of the entire book. Nobody messes with her wards!

I love that Lexi’s power is just STRONG. She uses it, and there’s no major drawbacks. Yes, I get that could be seen as a crutch when writing the plot, but I felt like it really just hammered home how scary Valens is since Lexi and Kieran are both scared of him despite their powers.

Speaking of Lexi and Kieran, I love how this couple has really become a favorite of mine. They’re genuine with each other, and Kieran works so hard to be better than his dad for Lexi. I adore it! Plus, the spice is fun! The rest of the book reads like a YA urban fantasy (it’s not - these are very much adults), but then we get these steamy chapters where the main couple can’t keep their hands off each other. It’s so fun!

I am curious to see where KF Breene is taking this series next. We’ve got three books left, and I feel like a lot of the plot is ready to wrap up.

I thought I loved the second book but this book stole the show! The dynamics between characters keeps growing and strengthening. I loved having a few portions in Valens pov just to get more of a sense of his way of thinking since we heard of him in the first two books but didn’t really know a lot about him. It had just the right amount of action/comedic relief in some of the commentary between the characters/a bit more spice between Kieran and Alexis than in the previous two books. It truly deserved the 5 star rating!

This one was better than the last couple, but still something is missing for me. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it's not keeping my attention. This shouldn't have taken me 2 1/2 days to read.

I do like that Kieran and Lexi's relationship moves forward way more in this one, finally! It was about freaking time. We also get to know a little more about the six, which was nice.

I'll keep reading on since dear ol daddy comes into the picture in the next book for Lexi. However, I have a feeling it's going to drag over the next 3 books. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

This was good.

Finally. I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal fantasy and I just love the whole concept of the three books. It’s romance but it felt more slow burn and the build up to their budding romance, it was not an easy or fun ride but this series really is funny. The characters are so fun to read and you just go on this ride about righting a wrong and all with magic and powers.

Alexis and Kieran, her wards Daisy and Modecai, his Six and Bria. It has been an enjoyable read.

I don't know what I was expecting but this novel ended up surprising me in a good way and in a bad way. Everything felt rushed and that's coming from someone who has DNFed quite a few series by this author because the writing was too descriptive and the plot very slow moving.

Lexi was entertaining in this book, I'll give her that, but that's about it. Her sense of humor is great and her protective nature toward her wards is so sweet to see but I still have a problem with the amount of power she can wield with, what still seems to be, minimal training, up to this point. Her relationship with Kieran is interesting with all the power and bonding thing they have going on.

Kieran seems to trust Lexi more and I actually started to like him better in this book. He's still protective of her but now he knows that she can somewhat take care of herself. I liked how he backed off and let her breathe on her own.

The ending was interesting! The big battle is what the past two books have been gearing up for and it was action-packed. I'd like to see what the next big-bad is and how they're going to solve it in future novels in the series and deal with their relationship at the same time.

The Audio Book:

The audio book was OK. I can only listen to Khristine Hvam while sped up to 1.25x. Her narration is good but I like to set a faster pace for authors that I know have naturally descriptive writing. She has a nice range of male and female voices with and without accents.

Gotta Have Romance With a Kick BOTM March Group Read

This wasn’t too bad. I was having trouble getting into reading due to having surgery and feeling restless. It wasn’t the book at all but a case of it’s me not you. So it took me much longer than usual to get through this book.

But once I could settle down to read I really got into it. One problem for me is that I’m reading them in real time meaning I’m having a few months between books and forget exactly what’s happened between the books. So I need some refreshments just a few bread crumbs really to remind me about significant plot points. Otherwise I was able to pick up who everyone was and what happened.

There are still some small typos in this book would like for there to not be any but there weren’t too many either so it’s not a huge issue for me right now.

The plot moved forward well, though there were some insignificant trips and then things I wanted to hear would be glossed over.

The actual conflict and such was a rush. It definitely felt intense when it started but sort of lost its muster by the time we got to Valens and Kieran fighting. I don’t like when those scenes are super easy when the person is supposed to be super powerful. But this one worked a bit.

I do wish we would have gotten a bit more of the down time once the book was coming to its conclusion. I wouldn’t have minded seeing how her coming out process went. I suppose we will find out in next book though so hopefully that’ll be what happens.

I Can’t Stop Reading!

I stumbled across this series randomly a few days ago and yup, I can’t stop reading! Honestly, everything about this series is amazing - the plot, the writing, the supporting characters - everything is on point. I’d gush more about it but I need to get on to the next book!

4.5 stars - A satisfying conclusion to an Urban Fantasy trilogy that got better with each book!

I really enjoyed this third and final instalment of the Demigod of San Francisco trilogy by K.F. Breene, which started with Sin & Chocolate. As this is an encapsulated story arc over the series it cannot be read as a standalone novel and its important to read the books in order to avoid spoilers and to fully understand the character motivations and development.

'Sin and Salvation' picks up the events directly after the conclusion of Sin & Magic. The story revolves around the primary protagonist couple:

Lexi - A powerful spirit walker who didn't know what she was or the level of her power for a long time until Kieran discovered her and had her trained by a kick-ass necromancer (Bria) to use her powers. She has the power to command the dead and quite literally rip a person's soul from their body.

Kieran - a demi-god with the power of Poseidon (inherited from his demi-god father - Valens the main antagonist of the series) and the power of the Selki from his mother, whom his father tortured, even after her death.

I thought 'Sin and Salvation' was the best of the three novels it's not perfect, but the world building and character development really worked for me. I can see there's lots of potential in the secondary and minor characters and the universe itself to carry on the story with different stories, or to do another series focusing on the protagonists Lexi and Kieran.

I liked that we actually got to have some chapters told through Valens' POV rather than just Lexi/Kieran's, it added a nice new dimension, I'd have liked a few more Valens POVs to drive the tension of the final act.

What I didn't like
There were a number of instances of overlapping conversations and overly zany babbling that added little to driving the plot forward and at times distracted from the action and tension of the overall story line. The worst instance of this was I listened on audiobook and there were a few times when I wasn't sure exactly who was speaking and to whom, which sadly took me out of the story a little.

I do think Lexi's charges Morty (a young werewolf) and Daisy (a human with a gift for spying) get short-changed again in the telling of their character development. Apart from bickering with each other/Lexi and joining in at the very end, their input into the plot is largely overlooked or referred to after the fact and the novel could easily have worked without them. As characters they have great potential to be more than annoying siblings and I still think telling theirs and perhaps Bria's stories separately in a series of companion novellas would be a good shout for the series.

Protagonist development
Both Lexi and Kieran stay true to the character changes they've gone through over the previous two books (I hate it when author's retrospectively unwind a character's arc to aid a plot) and both have a satisfying conclusion to their character growth by the end of the novel. Lexi

Series Arc / plot development
I felt as a trilogy it was a very well encapsulated story, with each novel bringing a distinct act and set of feelings and character developments that kept them linked, but also refreshingly different from each other. There is room in the universe to explore the other secondary and minor characters and/or to extend the Kieran/Lexi arc, which the epilogue definitely paved the way for . If the series is extended I'll definitely be looking to read the next novel.

Yeah, okay....Spoiler Alert!

Yeah, okay, this book was much better than the 2nd installment. I'm so glad the author didn't prolong the fight with Valens, and that he was defeated and destroyed causing an end to reign. So now it seems we will get a new villain... Hmm this should be interesting. Okay that's all I have for now..so bye!

Overall Rating:
4* ~ A Good Read

Lexi and Kieran's story continues, and the confrontation they'd been preparing for is looming near.

Lexi is still trying to get a hang on her magic with the help of Bri and Kieran's six, who are also continuing the training of Lexi's two wards, while Kieran is trying to gather his troops for the battle to come.

The little family has become a lot bigger and happier and the bond between Lexi and Kieran grows stronger, despite both their reservations. .

Eventually things come to a head, and our heroes .

By the end of the story Lexi .

As engaging as the first two books of the series, this book wraps up the overarching arc neatly and provides a satisfying happy for now ending, while also making room for more adventures to follow for our heroes. While there is no information regarding the next book in the series yet, the author's website confirms that more releases will be coming soon. I am looking forward to them!

An Intense, Emotive & Nail Biting Book!🙈😳💥🎧
Sin & Salvation: Demigods of San Francisco, Book 3
By: K.F Breene
🎧 Audiobook Narrated by: Khristine Hvam
Length: 10 hrs
📖 Ebook Read Using Kindle Unlimited

The narrator smashed this one!🎧💥

Wow, Book #3 in this Demigods of San Francisco series was tension filled.😳 We learn so much more in this book. Finding out what magic each of the Six actually holds was a shocker!!😎✨ Lexi continues to train, but they've upped the stakes with her & want her to try & break through to where the soul resides! As reluctant as she is, she knows it's practical if she's to be of any real help to Kieran when the war comes!!😳

Zorn continues to train Daisy or 'the gremlin' as the Six have affectionately nicknamed her, because of her devious fighting style 😂 Mordecai continues to benefit from most of them training him, but Jack seems to have taken point as the other shifter. 👍 The psycho shifter who killed his Parent's decides to make his move on Mordi 😢 Its actually illegal to challenge anyone under 18yrs and at 15 he certainly isn't allowed to be challenged, but how did he even find out he was still alive??😕

There are some non shifter 'Mate' type happenings continuing to go on 😉🔥💘🔥 How there's no contraception failures in this book, with the amount they have going on, I just don't know.🙈🔥 Awww, they're seriously in love & it's gorgeously imperfect!💘😍🎉

The slow background unravelling of what has happened to Demigod Valens 'Spirit Trappers' is excruciating, not knowing when that hammer will drop & what will happen when it does? Yep, it's nail biting, but then knowing he hasn't realised everything else that Kieran, Alexis, the Six, and Bria have been putting in place & planning actually knots your tummy. But the real underlying terror for me came from knowing he is as yet unaware his wife's spirit has been freed - omg, it's enough to make you pee your pants!!😱😭😳

There are many, many laugh out loud & giggle fest moments throughout this book even during the most dire & extreme times you can always rely on Bria or Daisy, usually, to say or do something that will lighten the atmosphere to bearable again!!🙏😃 I was really impressed with Lexi bolstering Daisy when she became overwhelmed with being 'just human' surrounded by magical people 💕 It obviously sank in & stuck with her. It was really inspiring!!😍 I love how proud Zorn is of her, too. He's such a magical bad@ss but truly sees her potential!!🌟

I understand the author plans to write more in this world. Thank you, K.F Breene 🙏💕 I feel so utterly invested in these characters. I feel like there's so much more to know, especially after that epilogue!🙈🔪

As the action and intrigue picks up, this series is getting better and better. There’s a strong family vibe within this crazy fun mix of characters that tugs at the heartstrings and makes one want to keep reading. Each character also has their individual quirks, strengths and weaknesses. I especially love Daisy and Zorn, although the whole bunch are uniquely and wonderfully written. It’s this enjoyable mix and the author’s fabulous ability to write each of them with enough depth to really connect the reader that makes this series shine.
