This is the seventh book in the Colton’s of Roaring Springs series by Geri Krotow.

I am pretty sure this is the book that many other books in the Colton’s series is referring back to. This is the book where Skye goes missing. And of course, it is not resolved in this book since it seems to be a plot point for a completely different Colton series (Mustang Valley) and many of those books refer back to Skye’s disappearance in some way. Looking forward to the book where Skye is recovered, that should be a mega good one1

Basically, this is about Phoebe who is mistaken for her more gregarious sister, Skye and is forced to pose as her for the sake of her parent’s resort business. A previous book brought in the Avalanche Killer, and their business is still reeling from that fallout. Prescott Reynolds, a mega movie star, is at the resort for the film festival which is put on by the Colton resort. Since Skye is the face of the resort, Phoebe has her hands full with her masquerade. But when she catches the eye of Prescott, she has gained the disdain of Prescott’s previous girlfriend who is now willing to kill to get her man back.

I thought this book was thrilling and having two supposed “killers” lurking in the shadows ramped up the suspense. However, having such a convoluted plot didn’t distract from the success of this book. It was easy to navigate the backstory since we were given just enough to have it all make complete sense.

The only thing I think I needed in this was more motivation behind the antagonist. I wasn’t exactly believing someone would kill to get their boyfriend back. But I guess most normal people would know that you aren’t going to gain someone’s trust by killing the person they love.

Great book. Looking forward to more Colton stories in my future!

If you love a good romantic suspense, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Very good book that caught my attention from the beginning and kept it to the very end. This is the seventh in the Coltons of Roaring Springs series. There is an overarching mystery in the series dealing with a serial killer labeled "The Avalanche Killer" plus a separate mystery unique to this book. Though I haven't yet read the earlier books in the series, I was not lost. There is enough background given to fill in the essential points.

The Colton resort is about to host the annual film festival. With a serial killer on the loose, the resort has experienced some loss of business and needs everything to go smoothly. As the story opens, Phoebe is out for a run and wondering where her sister Skye is. As the marketing director, Skye is the public face of the festival, and her absence would be a blow. Skye took off after a bad breakup, claiming she needed time, but it is unlike her to not return for a professional commitment. When Phoebe returns to the Chateau, her mother insists that Phoebe impersonate Skye for the upcoming events until Skye returns. Phoebe isn't happy about it, as she and Skye are very different, but she will do anything for the family.

While out for an early morning hike away from fans and press, Prescott saw Phoebe on her run. Though initially suspicious that she was stalking him, he quickly realized his mistake. Having recently been burned by a bad relationship, Prescott has become wary of trusting another woman. At the same time, he was intrigued by Phoebe, and when he saw her later at the hotel, he decided to get to know her better.

I liked the first encounter between Prescott and Phoebe. It was fun to see a confident and talented man like him stumbling over his words, "behaving like a sixteen-year-old asking a date to the prom." Even though she knows that getting involved with him, especially while pretending to be Skye, is a bad idea, Phoebe found herself saying yes. It's evident that there is already a connection between them. What neither of them knows is that Prescott's fascination was observed by his ex, Ariella, who is not pleased about it. She wants Prescott back and will do anything to make it happen.

I was glued to the pages as the chemistry between Phoebe and Prescott burned hotter each time they were together. But more than the chemistry, there was something deeper that grew even faster. I loved seeing them together, getting to know each other. However, the more she gets to know Prescott and seeing what a good man he is, the more she feels guilty about her deception. She wants to tell him the truth, but she also needs to do what is right for her family. I ached for Phoebe as she wrestled with her dilemma. I liked when she came clean, and hurt for both of them as Prescott dealt with his feelings of betrayal. But when Ariella's obsession escalates into violence against Phoebe, Prescott realizes that Phoebe is more important to him than he had suspected. I also liked his maturity in accepting that her deception was not personal against him and that he wanted to spend more time with her.

I loved the protectiveness that Prescott felt toward Phoebe and his determination to keep her safe. His plans to do so were fantastic, and I liked the way he stood up to her parents to make them happen. I also liked how Phoebe broke out of her comfort zone/good girl reputation to go after what she wanted - him. Their trip to his hometown reinforced what a good, grounded man Prescott was. His interactions with his parents and his old friends were refreshing, being warm and loving instead of arrogant and entitled. Though both Prescott and Phoebe realize the depth of their feelings, there are still some obstacles to overcome. Phoebe especially has trouble believing that Prescott could love her after the way she lied to him.

Though Prescott hoped that leaving Colorado behind would throw Ariella off his trail, we soon see that it didn't. The buildup to the final confrontation was intense. The more I saw of Ariella, the creepier and more unbalanced she seemed. The escalation of the attacks had me on the edge of my seat as I wondered what she would do next. The final showdown was a nail-biter, requiring both Prescott and Phoebe to keep cool heads. I especially enjoyed how Ariella's intentions were thwarted. I loved the ending, with their return to Roaring Springs, and Preston's determination to be there to support Phoebe. His big moment at the end was great.

There wasn't much progress on the serial killer story, as it mainly took a back seat to the stalker side of the book. There is also now the question of what has happened to Skye. Is she still missing of her own volition, or is her disappearance linked the Avalanche killer? I can't wait to see how this series is going to turn out.

The questions just keep mounting in the seventh book of The Coltons of Roaring Springs continuity, as two people face numerous situations that could be potentially dangerous. Phoebe wants the family resort to continue being successful, and this fact has her becoming caught up in a scheme which puts her in the spotlight. Prescott is in the Colorado town to promote his latest film, and getting involved with someone was never on his mind. But the potent pull between the couple is too much to ignore, even when some truths are hidden and the consequences are unpredictable. Geri Krotow makes COLTON’S MISTAKEN IDENTITY suspenseful with uncertainties, and there is one emotional issue after another.

With the Roaring Springs film festival ready to start, Phoebe Colton has lots to do at The Chateau which is owned by her family. Many of the activities would normally be undertaken by her sister, Skye, but a personal problem made her twin suddenly leave, and now these responsibilities must be carried out with her pretending she is the missing sibling. Interacting with the many Hollywood performers is one duty that the rather shy Phoebe will have to endure, but she finds being around the famous actor, Prescott Reynolds, will not be a hardship at all. But when unexplained threats begin occurring, this couple need answers before someone gets hurt.

There is a killer in the area around Roaring Springs, and residents plus visitors to the tourist town are worried about the person’s next move. In this book, there is also another individual who is clearly determined to cause havoc, and I never knew what the jeopardy would be or who was actually responsible. Some of the incidents are very scary, and they caused me to be concerned about the welfare of the main characters. With the whereabouts of Phoebe’s sister remaining a mystery, the anxiety factor of not knowing kept ramping up the her, and me, too.

I had no idea if Phoebe and Prescott could ever get together, as a huge fact is being concealed and he has some troubles of his own. As they become closer, I wondered just how open they would be with the each other, and what impact any revelations would have. There are emotional moments which moved me, while some episodes are more lighthearted and even passionate. Then there are the scenes where peril is the focus, and the outcome is not assured. A compelling addition to the Colton continuity.

Prescott is a movie star with the bluest of blue eyes and stalker ex. Phoebe is the introvert to her missing twin sister's extrovert. when they meet under the spotlight of a Sundance-like film festival at her family's resort, sparks fly. when it becomes obvious someone is out to get Phoebe, Prescott realizes his feelings for Phoebe are already running deep. With both a stalker ex and a serial killer on the loose, Phoebe and Prescott must travel a rocky path to find their happily ever after. I found this to be an easy and enjoyable read even though I have not read any of the other books in the Colton family series. Phoebe did get annoying in the book when she just could not move past one issue in their relationship even long after Prescott obviously had. I was provided a paperback ARC by the author but this review is my own opinion.
