A Colorado sheriff convinces a friend to play fiancée, but there’s no time for games with a serial killer on the loose in this suspenseful Western romance.Smalltown sheriff Trey Colton has done a good job of keeping the peace in Roaring Springs, Colorado. But he can’t run for reelection on his record alone. He needs a bride-to-be by his side. Who better to take the part than his best friend, psychologist Aisha Allen? But just as Trey and Aisha start to play house, Roaring Springs faces a threat unlike anything they’ve ever seen . . .A serial killer is terrorizing their beloved town, and Trey is the next target. The fight for survival brings an eye-opening truth for these “pretend” lovers—that love is precious . . . but death is only a heartbeat away.
Addison Fox can’t remember a time when words weren’t a part of her life. In addition to being an avid reader, she loves writing novels about strong-willed and exciting heroes and heroines – individuals who are meant for each other and who deserve their happy ever after. After she makes them work for it, of course!
First published in 2010, Addison has written across romance genres including paranormal, contemporary and romantic suspense. A romantic at heart, she’ll take her heroes any way she can get them – from ancient warriors to computer geeks to sexy cowboys. She’s not picky - but she is deeply grateful her readers are willing to come along for the ride.
The intrigue in The Coltons of Roaring Springs continuity really ramps up in the eighth book. Along with mounting questions associated with the ongoing murder investigation, there is an upcoming election with two vastly different contenders battling for sheriff and also no word on a member of the Colton family who has puzzlingly vanished. I was hooked from the very first of the story, as so much was going on in the lives of the main couple. Trey Colton is dedicated to doing his best as sheriff, and his determination to solve these killings in his county is wearing him down. Seeing her friend under so much pressure makes Aisha Allen want to aid in some way, and the caring nature of the psychologist has them agreeing to a fake relationship. But with danger ever increasing and their hearts unexpectedly on the line, this couple finds themselves facing a multitude of life-altering situations. THE COLTON SHERIFF has mysteries to unravel, plenty of emotional conflicts, and appealing characters.
Since they were eight-years-old, Trey Colton and Aisha Allen have been close friends, and she is currently worried about him. He is the local county sheriff where Roaring Springs is located, and there have been several murders lately that remain unsolved but are thought to have been committed by the person known as the “Avalanche Killer”. There is also the dilemma of him running for reelection against an opinionated opponent, plus his cousin has not been heard from in some time. A suggestion to help with one of his problems leads to Trey and Aisha pretending to be engaged, but having a fiancée only seems to complicate his troubles.
Trey and Aisha are a truly wonderful couple. They have known each other for years and would never want to mess up the friendship each cherishes. But both want to help their town become safe once more plus remain so in the future, and this fact pushes them to make choices not normally made. How they respond to each other after becoming “engaged” is convincing, as feelings are hard to fake, especially when threats arise. I really enjoyed some of their more candid conversations where lots of honest comments are made.
Any information that turns out to be true about the numerous past killings is cleverly divulged by Addison Fox, and my own thoughts about the matter kept changing. I certainly became more immersed in the happenings in Roaring Springs and the lives of various Coltons with each new detail. The evidence divulged throughout the book is insightful, making me ponder what the next story might disclose.
I voluntarily reviewed the book, and all comments are my honest opinion – Rating: 4.5 Stars
Talk about attention getting this book does it. I'm going to be looking for the rest of this series that's for sure. In this story I met Trey Colton and Aisha Allen. These 2 have been childhood friends since around 8 years old. I like the way she brings out the easyness of their friendship. This kind of friendship can make the best marriages. I really enjoyed the mystery and the twists in the plots of the story. It keeps you guessing through out the story. Its an interesting story that has its own ending but there is still games afoot. I will be looking for more of this series. J
