A fun story about the power of kindness! From saying please to sharing toys, your child will learn how to spread kindness in everyday situations as school and at home! Join a little SPOT on a journey as he SPOTS kindness and shows children a fun way to remember to be kind too! If you enjoyed I'm NOT just a Scribble...now there is a fun new way to spread kindness!
This is a cute story that plays off of “spot of kindness” and shares about all the ways to be kind. It is a good reminder for everyone. I just didn’t rate it as high, because there are now many books on this subject, and it wasn’t my favorite. I enjoy the more show vs tell. Granted this does a little bit of both, and if that’s what you are looking for, I would definitely check this read out.
I don't think this book is quite as good as the others I've read from this series, but I think that may be on account of kindness being so all-encompassing and slightly abstract. It feels a bit overly simplified in this book. That said, however, encouraging kids to be kind is great and I think as a learning experience this is a decent way to start a discussion with your kids about being a good person.
The "Little Spot" series is great for little kids - our littles' therapist has used some of the books with them, and we loved what we saw, so we got 3 big boxes sets (8 books each) for our little ones (6 and 8) for holiday gifts - we're reading this one right now because my little boys are having some trouble remembering to be kind to one another right now. I would absolutely recommend this series of books to any parent of small children!
I absolutely love these books! It’s started with I’m NOT Just a Scribble and now I can’t stop getting as many as i can on my kindle! My daughter and my preschool class love when i read them these books. They had so much fun with the Scribble book I can not wait to read them this one! Everyone can do (or use) a little spot of kindness!
Summary: This is about the main character, a spot, teaching children how to be kind in different settings and events.
Evaluation: This book is very cute that teaches students how to be kind in very kid-friendly terms.
Activity: First, this book will be used to teach students about different punctuation, such as question marks, exclamation points, and periods. Then after reading the book if students are caught being kind, the students will be rewarded with a kindness spot (a small sticker).
I didn't find this an inspiring book. After reading positive reviwss I was disappointednIt gave some examples of kind deeds, but very flat and factual. It don't see that it would mm help to build the social/emotional awareness and empathy that would help a child to make kind choices of their own. This is simply my personal response. Others obviously have enjoyed it very much. I don't mean to be "unkind" .
This is a book that got passed along to me, and in turn I'll be passing it along to some young readers I know. Why not show a book some love as it comes my way?
A Little SPOT of Kindness is a wickedly smart book to teach kids how and when to be kind to others (which is essentially all the time). If you put a spot on your hand, every time you see it you need to be kind to someone! The book gives many examples - saying nice things, sharing, apologizing - all of those important things we want to teach kids. The silliness, the authenticity and overall style of the book really makes this book a hit for me. I really think this is a great way to start teaching kindness to kids (probably around age 3). I highly recommend picking this book up if you want a dash of education with a whole lot of fun!
This story is about kindness and why it is important for us to be kind to others. To add to that it also gives examples of ways in which we can be kind to others. I enjoyed this story and found it to be very cute. It is a great reminder to be kind to others, which everyone could use from time to time. I believe this book would be best for kindergarten to 2nd grade. I would follow up the book by asking students to list other gestures they could do in order to show kindness to someone else.
Diane Alber continues her legacy of books that help our kids think about their actions. Whether the reader is a kid or adult, her heart-felt message and attractive illustrations lead us to think of our responses to others. Being kind takes so many forms. Love this book!
Cute, but you either have to buy colorful dots to hand out, or take a bunch of colorful sharpies and color dots on your kids hands! There is a “spot card” in the back that you can also use. “Did you know that every time you are kind, a layer of happiness is added to your heart and to the heart of others?”
I really liked this book and my class of 2nd graders loved it too! It made a huge impact on my students and they were talking about it all day long and into the next day. I put a colored dot sticker on each child's hand before they left for home so they'd remember to share the message of showing a SPOT of kindness to others. I recommend this book for school and at home.
This book wasn't my favorite. I didn't know exactly what to expect before opening the cover, but this wasn't it. I quickly caught on that this book is meant to teach children to be kind to others. The problem is, there's not much else to it. The plot doesn't really carry the story and it feels almost rushed and completely focused on getting the message across. It could have been better executed.
This is a great book about kindness that would be very useful in a classroom. It gives simple tips and examples on how to be kind. It is not always innate for everyone so reminders are helpful. It would be especially helpful for students who are struggling with friendships and relationships. Cute book!
Love these book they help so much with my kids they have autism I have different levels in my home I have level 1, 2, and 3 this is something that has really help them try to figure out what they are feeling the emotional connection has been a big help
Not the book for me but I think others who like the series would enjoy this one because of the message. Nice way to teach kids about being kind but too repetitive.
My favorite of her books so far. Really important message for us all to remember be kind! Love the tie in with a dot/spot sticker to help remind children to be kind. Great message love this.
Loved reading this to my kiddos (5,7,10,& 12)! Great examples of ways to practice kindness with others. Also loved the kindness card at the back of the book!
We need to teach kids ALL the ways they can be kind to others and themselves. So precious this little book of reminders is !! I just love the way the book is illustrated !
I loved the way it was simple and fun at the same time for my 5 year old to understand the importance of being kind. I would recommend it and the whole series to parents of young kids.
Love love love the book there is absolutely nothing wrong with it except at the spot always have to say has to say kind very loud that’s not polite but oh well
A small book about kindness and reminding yourself to be kind by wearing a sticky spot to remind yo to be kind. The book reminds readers to be do something kind, use encouraging words, to share, be a friend, apologizing and saying please.
"A Little SPOT of Kindness!" by Diane Alber teaches kids about the importance of being kind and small acts of kindness they can exhibit on a day-to-day basis. This book is a good reminder for kids to be kind, since everyone would like kindness shown to them in return.
Alber Assignment #10 Little Spot #2 A book on what kindness means and how we should live it. Practical and thoughtful, how much it will be applicable is another matter. Alber seems to have found her bread & butter in this series, as this is just the beginning.
Very cute! Perfect for all ages. A great book to share with all ages about kindness. A great book to use in a classroom to promote mindfulness and kindness.
