Hot Jocks #4

Crossing the Line

Rate this book
Recovering from a pulled groin muscle isn’t exactly how I planned to spend my much-needed summer vacation.

But I’ll admit, being nursed back to health by my gorgeous friend Bailey, who’s just graduated from medical school, doesn’t exactly sound like a hardship.

We spend a week together at my family’s beach house, a week of swimming and barbecues, a week of entertaining my little cousins and sleeping right across the hall from each other. A week of watching Bailey grow closer with my mom and sisters, and my wacky but lovable grandma. A week of enjoying Bailey tending to me—which is saying something, because it involves a lot of shoving ice packs into my underwear and taping up sore muscles.

She’s funny and kind, and after just being myself for the first time in a long time, I find my walls come tumbling down. But when Bailey says she’s not looking for a relationship, I’m bound and determined to be more than just the fun hookup who sprained his groin a second time—this time with her.

Your favorite hot jocks are back with an all-new standalone novel. If you like sexy, confident men who know how to handle a stick (on and off the ice), and smart women who are strong enough to keep all those big egos in check, this series is for you!

(Books can be enjoyed in any order.)

The Hot Jocks series is about the hockey team players and who they fall in love with! Each book can be read as a stand alone, but for me I usually prefer to start at the beginning!

This is the fourth instalment, and it features Asher and Bailey’s fall into love! I actually really enjoyed these two together. Asher has an injury ( in his groin area of course 😬😬) and he needs to take time off his hockey playing in order to heal. Bailey; who is not only a friend but a new doctor has volunteered to take care of Asher and his groin..🤣 while he goes on vacation to visit his family in Sandiego. I loved Asher’s family! I ended up engrossed in the whole family get together that I didn’t even care if there was lots of romance going on!!!! Don’t get me wrong though.. there was plenty of that and sexual attraction as well!

I have found with this series, there is very low angst... it’s a feel good series with sexy times and loyal friendships too! I love how we get to see all of the teammates and their women in each instalment that comes. They all hang out together and it’s so amusing to see the once playboy hockey players become domesticated with the love of their lives!

Definitely a series I highly recommend if you just want a light and entertaining read!!!

4.5 Stars!

Asher Reed is a professional hockey player for the Seattle Ice Hawks who finds himself with unexpected and unwanted time off due to an injury. He’s frustrated he will be out for a couple weeks, and maybe the rest of the season. While he recovers and is forced to take a break he planned to vacation at his family’s beach house in San Diego, but learns the team requires him to travel with medical supervision. Just as he’s about to cancel his plans, a friend offers to go with him and look after his injuries.

Bailey Erickson just finished medical school, and is soon starting her residency. She’s known Asher for about two years, and they share the same circle of friends. When she volunteered to be his caretaker, she probably should have taken into account how hot her patient is. It’s definitely going to be a challenge keeping things professional with that temptation in front of her, but she hasn’t had a break in four years. Spending a week on the beach in California is hardly a hardship, and nursing this beautiful man back to health certainly won’t be a chore.

 photo 8F0DA356-19E0-4228-9E2C-A7F5887D0A30_zpsfn4awoh3.jpg

Asher and Bailey are in uncharted territory as they spend so much one on one time together. As she tends to him, and grows closer with his family, he’s more and more captivated by her. He’s had a crush on her for a while, and is finding it hard not to cross that line. He loves he can be himself with her, and their undeniable connection intensifies as they begin to move out of the friend zone. Asher has a playboy reputation, but soon Bailey see’s him in a different light. He’s a good guy with a kind heart. She isn’t looking for a relationship, and he won’t be satisfied with only a casual hook-up. When they return to the real world will they try for something more?

 photo A41C703B-C8C6-476C-B6F6-BA518FD5369F_zps5k3nwx92.jpg

-Seeing her here, in my space, with my family, it’s changing things. Making me want things, things I never thought I’d want.

-The truth is, she’s freaking perfect. And that scares the hell out of me. No girl is perfect, right? Except to me, Bailey is.

-When I want something, I don’t stop until it’s mine.

-And I want Bailey. I can’t and won’t deny that.

Sweet, smart, and sexy!

Crossing the Line is a lighthearted, comical tale that takes us into the lives of the kindhearted, intelligent Bailey and the charming, determined Asher as they both discover just how powerful temptation, attraction, and chemistry can truly be.

The writing is smooth and witty. The characters are friendly, flirty, and amusing. And the plot is an alluring, spicy tale filled with familial drama, playful banter, sizzling tension, awkward moments, hilarious hijinks, sporty references, and blossoming romance.

Overall, Crossing the Line is a highly entertaining, delectable indulgence by Ryan that is another wonderful addition to what is ultimately turning out to be an absolutely fantastic Hot Jocks series.

Thank you to Kendall Ryan for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Once again, Kendall Ryan has knocked it out of the park with this latest installment in the Hot Jock series. Crossing the Line is a sweet, delightful, comical sports romance with a heavy dose of steam. The story-line is light and riveting. The characters are likeable, endearing and absolutely perfect together. Asher and Bailey's relationship is red hot and adorable, so of course I loved every single second of it.

Crossing the Line focuses on Asher, the sexy and charming hockey player and Bailey, the smart and kindhearted, soon-to-be doctor. Recovering from a pulled groin injury isn't exactly how he planned on spending his summer vacation. But on the plus side, being tended to by Bailey, turns out to be just what the doctor ordered. Neither were looking anything serious, but after one steamy night, the two discover there's no turning back.

I absolutely loved Asher and Bailey's story. The relationship that blossoms between these two friends is nothing short of pure perfection. Their playful banter was brimming with humor, heart and heat. If you want a book that is quick, light, sexy and fun, then please be sure not to pass this one up. Five stars and more for Asher, Bailey and Crossing the Line.

If you are looking for low drama then this series is the one for you! I’ve enjoyed all of the books but to be honest there isn’t a lot going on. They are nice & sweet stories but very low in angst. I do like to have low angst sometimes but it does make for a bit of a lackluster story. Don’t get me wrong I will still continue on with the series but I will just reprogram my brain for a simple storyline.

FIVE STARS for Bailey and Asher 💙💙💙!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the one more absolutely great book from the "Hot Jocks" series and Kendall showed the one more time that she knows how to write a good rom-com.

"Crossing the Line" is a romantic comedy with friends to lovers trope that will make you laugh a lot.

Bailey and Asher's relationship is adorable and sweet, but also with a lot of fire between them and each other attraction.

If you're looking for a perfect romance book to take a break from daily obligations, this is the book for you!!!

Highly recommended!!!

Another great addition to the Hot Jocks series. Each book can be read as a standalone and you get the visit with the other couples from the previous books. Asher and Bailey were so good together. The chemistry and attraction that they had for each other was so intense. This book will have you smiling and leaving you with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside and wishing that you had your own Asher.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This series started off with a bang and each book makes me fall more in love with these characters. This story centers around Asher the "hot jock" who ended up with a pulled groin muscle, as well as a concussion and Bailey the sexy, smart soon-to-be doctor who volunteers to "nurse" him back to health. The relationship that builds between these two friends is nothing short of sweet perfection. Asher is the bad boy on the ice and the sweet affectionate man off, especially when spending that time surrounded by his family especially his grandmother. Bailey is adamant she's not looking for a serious relationship, has no time for it until she realizes she may want so much more with Asher. What happens when two friends have one steamy hookup? What happens when they realize they want more from each other but not sure how to ask one another for that chance? Guess you'll have to one-click this amazing read!

Internal pep talks are essential for Bailey, "sure. No problem. I’m just going to grope Asher Reed’s crotch for a second. For medical purposes..." Asher tends to be quite honest, “sorry for cursing, it’s just . . . bacon. It brings out the cave man in me.” Bailey likes to bring up those good times, “do I need to remind you that I was the one who re-sprained your groin riding you too hard?” I liked this book, I loved Asher.

~ 5 Crossing the Line Stars ~

So what happens when you are secretly attracted to your friend, but don’t know if you should cross that line?? Well Crossing the Line by Kendall Ryan is the story that answers that question!!!

I never fail to say this in my reviews, but when it’s true, I just have to repeat it. I LOVE Kendall Ryan books. Her stories always make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. She gives us the prefect mix of romance, steam, drama, feelings and even humor. I truly LOVED Crossing the Line. I really loved the storyline and the chemistry between Asher and Bailey was, yes off the charts, but also what every person wants in a friendship.

Crossing the line is the fourth book in Kendall’s Hot Jocks Series. This is a series of interconnected standalone novels. Based around a Seattle hockey team. Each book is a standalone and I don’t think this series has to be read in order. I have fallen in love with Kendall’s hockey studs. This series is a great series for the sports romance reader. I think it is perfectly balanced between romance and hockey. This book is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow and pace of the story was great.

In this book we follow the story of Asher and Bailey. Asher is a hockey player on the Seattle hockey team. He has been known to be a player on and off the ice. But as of recently, he has been sidelined because of injury. Having nothing to do with himself, he wants to go to his family reunion, but the only way he can do that is to bring a medical professional with him. He is against this idea…..that is until his friend Bailey offers to go with him. Bailey and Asher have been friends for a couple of years. Bailey is just out of Medical school and has some time off before starting her residency. So she offers to go as the medical professional when Asher mentions it. What could happen between two friends, when you mix a week alone at the beach, a crazy family, and some fun in the sun?? What happens when these two cross that line?? Will they get their HEA?? or will it ruin their friendship?? Read this fun and entertaining story to find out.

This is a quick read, but it lacks for nothing. We get the laughs, the feels and emotion we have come to expect from Kendall Ryan. I loved that we got to see all the players and the previous couples in this book. I also loved meeting and getting to know Asher’s family….they were amazing!!! I look forward to the other books in this series and seeing where all these players end up.

If you are a fan of Kendall Ryan books, you NEED to read this story. If you haven’t started on this journey of Kendall’s books yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, this would be the perfect place to start. Trust me, once you pick up your first Kendall Ryan book you will be hooked. This book/series is also perfect for the fans of sports romances. Kendall really knows how to write a great sports romance novel!!!

I really enjoyed Crossing the Line by Kendall Ryan.

The writing is well done, entertaining from start to end and I didn't want to put it down.
Asher and Bailey are likable, relatable characters and I enjoyed watching them move from friends to lovers. They were fun, sweet and their chemistry was hot!

Crossing the Line is a lovely addition to the Hot Jocks series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all!

This has a similar concept as FAVOR FOR A FAVOR (they came out in the same month) which is also about a hockey player with a groin injury who must be nursed back to health by a hot doctor. But that is where the similarities end.

I preferred FAVOR over this book. In FAVOR the groin injury seems more realistic with the healing time frame. In CROSSING THE LINE we have him doing cannon balls and surfing with no problems. (He’s supposed to have a concussion too....) Kendall clearly didn’t do much (if any) medical research here. This takes me away from the book.

The book was too fast paced. Where was the potential angst of Asher’s cousins flirting with Bailey? Or the pain from his injury? Fear over his future as a player? Where are the friendship dynamics? Side characters? There were so many opportunities for humor or angst that were just left out for the sake of having a short book.

I think Kendall is spending too much time trying to crank out a book in this series every two months that she is sacrificing quality (or maybe she’s using a ghost writer now?). This book needs more editing. The plot and character arcs needed to be better fleshed out.

Basically every book in this series is just kind of meh. They are sorta enjoyable and easy. Mindless like watching a cheesy CW show. I can get through two of them a day if I really wanted too. But each book in this series are all kind of the same....I can’t distinguish between the heroes and heroines because they all are basically the same person. The sex scenes in each book are nearly identical. There needs to be more change between the couples. Maybe have one couple like to fuck on tables and another against walls or one like it sweet and another like it rough or have one with a woman who is more dom and another with a man who is more dom or one with some bdsm. I can’t keep the characters straight because they (and their sex scenes) are all identical. (I know book 2 had some spanking but that was one scene and book 3 had a sex tape but even then their love life was kinda vanilla because that was a one time thing.)

Basically this series is good for mindless fluff with low stakes drama. I prefer Helena Hunting’s PUCKED series (books 3, 5, & 6 are the best ones) more (they were funny and had better drama and angst, each couple was very different with different sexual tastes, and it had fleshed out character arcs) than any book in the HOT JOCKS series (overall bland. like oatmeal.). These books have some humor but not much.

Also these books are super cis, straight, and white. So keep that in mind if you want to read them.

Are these great books? No. Am I still going to read the whole series? Probably. Why still read them if they aren’t great? It’s quarantine don’t judge my need for quick easy reads!

Oh Asher and Bailey, could you have a sweeter, sexier story?! I think not, this was utterly perfect.

In Kendall Ryan fashion she is able to make you fall in love with characters instantly and have you rooting for them by the second chapter.

Bailey is in medical school training to be a doctor. Asher is recovering from a terrible groin injury after one of his Ice hockey games.

Asher has a family reunion to get to but doesn't want to go seeing as he has to have a nurse with him. Bailey provides her services, since she has a break before her residency beginning as a nurse.

And well doesn't nursing a sexy, ice hockey man with a groin injury just sound like trouble? Because oh boy was it so much fun to read.

Asher's family is so fun and charming and you love them instantly. Bailey fits right in to this world and has them all on her side within days.

As Bailey gets to see another side to Asher their chemistry grows and a connection they can't resist explodes. They get together and don't want to look back.

There was minimal drama but a bit of waring in their minds about what they could be, however when that was overcome the outcome was sugary sweet.

I loved every moment of this story. It is perfect for a light hearted read with a sexy as hell hockey player and a smart, witty woman.

Bailey and Asher have known each other for a while, so their transition from friends to more was pretty natural. I liked Asher’s family and would love to learn more about his sisters. This book was a lot of fun to read, but only had minimal hockey in it. I enjoyed this book and the entire series. Definitely recommend this book.

This is the fourth book in Kendall Ryan’s Hot Jock Series and it is incredible. Each book is it own standalone story. This is Asher and Bailey’s story. Asher and Bailey are in the same friend group but have never spent one on one time together until Bailey volunteers to be injured Ashers doctor so he can go home to celebrate his Grandmother’s birthday. They feel very comfortable with each other and realize they have very sizzling chemistry. I loved this story and the characters! This book is filled with heart and heat!

This was a cute, sweet and sexy read with lots of flirty, sexual tension and sweet swoony moments. I loved how Bailey was a strong confident woman who when given an opportunity went after what she wanted. And Asher is sex on a stick with a sweet side to make you melt on the spot. Together these two could not have been more perfect and their story was sugary sweet with lots of red hot chemistry and steam to heat up your kindle. It’s so good when you cross the line.

Asher is a hockey player who was injured and Bailey is just finishing up medical school, so as they are already friends, she is the obvious choice to travel with him and make sure he is following the recommendations of the team trainer.

What they don't expect is to fall for one another, and to realize that there just might be more to their budding relationship than one that expires at the end of a week in California.

I loved that we got to see some of this, that we were able to follow them into their real lives to see that they were able to make it work. It's clear from the beginning that Ashe sees how different they are together and sees that Bailey is someone he wants long term...and watching him figure this out, and deal with it, and learn to see it as something that he wants was wonderful. Especially as it's juxtaposed with Bailey and her doubts that they can have any sort of meaningful future...even though she wants one.

I love books like this, where the tension and the reason for them not to be together feels real, and authentic, and like a problem that a person would face in real life. It makes the resolution that much more meaningful as you are able to relate to the humanity of the characters.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

4 sweet and sexy stars!!

Kendall Ryan has once again delivered the perfect sweet and sexy read.

Crossing The Line is the fourth book in the Hot Jocks Series and it follows the story of Bailey and Asher. Bailey just finished graduate school and is getting ready to start her residency. So, when her good friend Asher suffers an injury and needs a babysitter for a week, Bailey is there to jump in and help her friend. A week of fun in the sun…what could possibly go wrong??

Crossing The Line was a fantastic read from beginning to end. I fell for Asher and Bailey instantly. I loved the ease of their friendship and the chemistry they shared. Bailey was kind, sweet and caring. She fit right in with Asher’s family and made Asher see a different side to Bailey. And Asher…Well, he’s got a reputation, but there is definitely more to him than meets the eye. He loves his family and isn’t afraid to go after what he wants. Together, these two were bound to be an explosive mix. I loved their pull and really enjoyed watching them try to figure things out.

Crossing The Line was the perfect light read that I was looking for. I loved the characters and couldn’t get enough of Asher’s family. Their antics put a smile on my face and I really liked how they looked out for Asher. Crossing The Line was well written and entertaining. I loved the chemistry and I loved the sexy good times. Best of all, this story had little to no drama. The perfect read to spend your day getting swept up in….
