Zagan and the others turn Foll older temporarily to help her grow stronger. However, the ritual goes berserk, and when Foll grows bigger, Zagan shrinks! Following Orias' advice, they decide to attend the Continental Interracial Elders Conference in the Far-East in order to obtain powers aside from sorcery. What awaits them there is a member of the Night Clan, beings who live eternal lives, Alshiera. And somehow, this girl they meet for the first time seems to know Zagan and Nephy...
I was just not invested in 95% of the story. The final 5% was largely in the last few pages of the book. But getting there... Come on, these are 230 page books. I should be able to read them in just a few days depending on my "spare" time. But this one took me over a week. Maybe it is because I took a long break between books 5 & 6... but for whatever reason this one was slow for me and most of it I was quite bored.
Just two volumes ago, Archdemon saw the heroine getting age-reversed and just two volumes later, the author reuses the same trope again, only this time it's our hero getting kiddified! While I was rather apprehensive at such a quick reuse of the gimmick, this turned out to be one of the better volumes of the series.
This is mainly due to the major character developments of Zagan here, as the age reversion drains away most of his powers, and in the course of trying to cancel the effects, all his good deeds over the past 5 volumes get repaid and he slowly realises that he may not be as lonely as he asserts to be. I really liked this part, as Zagan is a very likeable character, even if his tendency to say rough things makes his persona feel more abrasive than he should be.
There's also no lack in the lovey-dovey flirting between our main couple as well, as Nephy relishes greatly the chance to spoil a very cute Zagan in this volume. I definitely do not recommend reading this in public, as the chance of grinning madly is very very high.
6 volumes in and I think Archdemon has really hit a very good stride, in terms of balancing the character development, romance and intrigue. A very good fantasy romance series that I'd recommend to light novel readers.
this volume i feel is the most important one cause this is when we get to hints at the history of Zagans eyes and the realization of how connected the characters are to one another as well as the very lore of this wonderful world building. Not to mention Zagan gets to be spoiled like he should have as a kid. And their first kiss <3
