I'm Aiden, and every single day I fight a war between my mind, my memories and an unshakeable craving. Fire is inside of me, it blooms, dances and burns through every inch of my mind and flows through my veins. Fire is my weakness, my desire, my past, present and future.
**This is a short story which may contain triggers for some and deals with a character who has a mental condition which is often misunderstood*

Fire burns in my soul, and one day it will consume me entirely.
What an interesting find! I haven't read many books about pyromaniacs. This was definitely intriguing. I wanted so much more, I think this might have been in an anthology or something, maybe why it's so short. If this story had more meat on it's bones, it could've been a higher rating for me. I did love the concept, plot, and rawness I felt. The story left me wanting much more though. I wanted to live in Aiden's world for a while longer, his need was truly dark, and interestingly enough, fascinating.
These are the words that are meant to calm the fire bug living inside Aiden. Only problem is a damaged mind can’t be controlled.
The devastating loss he experienced at the tender age of six left indelible marks on his soul. The only thing that can calm him, make him feel whole, is being close to the one he’s lost.
The moment he thinks he found a human who make help fill the void inside him. When we witness him let his guard down and let someone in, things go awry. I had so many hopes for Aiden. He’s fighting so hard and is beyond broken. I wanted redemption. I needed salvation. Alas I was left devastated and longing for more.
✨✨ I also just found out that Ally’s releasing a trilogy called Incendiary which contains Ignite, Extinguish, and Blaze. ✨✨
This was not my first book about a pyromaniac, but it was waaaay more realistic than the other one was!! Vance either has a lot of personal knowledge on this affliction, or she did a ton of research, making the main character and his obsession indescribably believable!!!
The only negative thing about this book is how brief it is. Originally written as part of an anthology, I assume Vance was restricted to a limited word count. Without constraints, I’m sure the characters and the ending would have been fleshed out much more. Though this isn’t my favorite book by Vance, it’s still a good example of how talented she is (and how meticulous her editor is)!
This book consumed me just like the fire that consumes this book. To say this book is hot is an understatement. You don't find many books about pyromaniacs so it was something a little bit different and I am so glad I gave it a go.
I do love a good pyromaniac story and I would have loved it if I had have been a bit longer as I was just getting to know Aiden and his mind set intrigued me. So even though this is a quick read it still grabbed me right from the start and kept me engaged and this is super important for me, so good job Ally Vance
This short story was mesmerizing, compulsive, and haunting. I literally couldn’t put it down, not even while cooking dinner on my stove, which could have led to some unintended “Ignite” consequences!
