Lady Pinkerton detectives, their rough and ready agents, and a whole lot of excitement and romance! The Pinkerton Matchmaker series tells the stories of the women determined to bring criminals to justice, and the agents who win their hearts. Each book is a standalone story and they can be read in any order.
P. Creeden is the sweet romance and mystery pen name for USA Today Bestselling Author Pauline Creeden. Her stories feature down-to-earth characters who often feel like they are undeserving of love for one reason or another and are surprised when love finds them.
P. Creeden married her college sweetheart, who she also met at a horse farm. Together they raise a menagerie of animals and their one son, an avid reader, himself. Animals are the supporting characters of many of her stories, because they occupy her daily life on the farm, too. From dogs, cats, and goldfish to horses, chickens, and geckos—she believes life around pets is so much better, even if they are fictional.
Remember Josie and Billy? Meet Clenna,Josie's roommate and Ben who Josie did NOT choose to marry. Coleman's Irish upbringing leaves few options in New York where prejudice is abundant. Her brother and cousin are traveling west and so her dream of being Pink comes all too quickly, by Clenna finds that her heart and mind won't allow her to marry as she is Catholic and believes marriage is forever. But when her brother and cousin get in trouble and her priest says it's okay, her choice is made. Ben has already felt the tingle from just looking at the red haired beauty. Can they remain objective while family is involved? P. Creede does a masterful job of creating plausible characters who bring an intricate story to life.
Clenna wants to be a Pinkerton Agent but when she arrives in Denver she’s unsure she will be accepted. When she needs to get married to her instructing agent she is even more unsure. When the case is close to her heart she accepts but her agent Ben needs to stay away, and she doesn’t need his help. What good will come from that? I enjoyed this story, Clenna is a little too independent but Ben is such a nice man he’s going with it. Would have loved to see some of her experience she learned from her father in this story.
I was disappointed that Clenna had experience working with steam engines, but she never used any of that knowledge on the case. It seems like she really didn’t need any skills and was too passionate and high strung to be a Pinkerton Agent. She only agreed to join and to the temporary marriage in name only stipulation because her brother and cousin were the accused. Ben was against marriage, but he was awfully quick to change his mind after spending time with Clenna.
I enjoyed this book but I would have liked for Clenna's experience with her dad on the railroad to have been used. Other than being related to the wrongly accused criminals, she really didn't play a part in the case. One of the things I enjoy about the Pinkerton Matchmaker series is the strong women characters. It was good to see her turn around in regards to her attitude about men. Ben was very patient. I do recommend this book.
...but Clenna is determined that nothing will stand in her way when it comes to saving family, mysteries don't phase her but it appears many have made their judgement and time is running out. Fortunately Ben see's the shadows and those who slither there, he teaches Clenna patience, to listen to what is left unsaid and to never let your guard down! A sweet historical romance that opens both Clenna and Ben's eyes and hearts, I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Great characters! I enjoyed Clenna, she had a great personality and cared deeply for her family. The plot was great and kept me pulled into the story wanting to know what happened. I wish the romance would have been more entwined into the story. I felt like it was separate from the story and was just a quick bit about it in the end. I still enjoyed the story and how it ended.
The story of a spunky young woman who wants to rescue her brother and cousin from a bit of trouble they got into. Is there way to rescue her brother without a marriage On paper? Can she trust the agent who supposed to help her? It is easy to relate to the characters in this story. I saw myself constantly worrying in the story.
I love the detail in every scenerio. The depth of the writing keeps me glued to the pages. The vivid details and backround build a full story. Clenna a firery Irishwomen marries Ben her Pinkerton Instructor to rescue her cousin and brother from the hangman.
This is a well written book that holds your attention from beginning until the end. It has action, suspense, romance and is a very enjoyable read. I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own
The best part of this story was after they solved the caper! Not that I didn't enjoy the whole story, because I definitely did! The beginning seemed awfully familiar, because An Agent for Josie was the first story. Clenna and Josie were roommates and applied to be Pinkerton agents together.
It’s sad that prejudice ism against each other is so great even in today’s generation that’s how the enemy keeps us separated as Christians. We need to love one another no matter what nationality we are.
An Agent for Clenna by P. Creeden is book 34 of the series. I liked the characters and the storyline. It was a good story that kept my interest til the end.
Thank you P. Creeden, Your book was great, Clenna had family problems and being a Pinkerton she had to help her brother and cousin, Ben and Clenna got everything straightened out.
I love the Pinkerton Matchmaker series that includes strong independent women and honorable brave and dashing young men involved in solving crimes. Enjoy 💜
The pacing of this book was off. Honestly it was so fast it just wasn’t believable. I liked the characters themselves and the premise but it was simply to rushed.
What does a good Irish Catholic girl do when faced with a paper only marriage? Ben's time is up on having to marry his trainee. Great characters and storyline.
Wanting to be a Lady Pinkerton all her life Clenna was sad they wanted her to marry her training agent until her brother and cousin were framed for a robbery. - Babs
Clenna has finally decided to accept marriage to an experienced agent during her first case. Ben was a Union sharpshooter and has so far avoided marrying a new recruit. But all that's about to change... Clenna's brother and cousin have gone off to work for the railroad but soon send word that they've been arrested for train robbery and want Clenna to prove their innocence. The story was pretty good but I found that it took a long time for the story to get going. We'd previously met Clenna in Josie's story but she was distraught at learning she'd have to get married in order to become an agent. I just got bored with having to re-read the set up to this book, when Josie's book was only 3 before this one so it was still fresh in my mind. Then the mystery didn't seem as in-depth as I would have preferred and the romance felt a bit rushed too. But it was clean with a sweet ending and worth a read.
