Jordan Fox

From one abusive life to another, I've had more bruised skin than I've had healthy. When My dad found out I was gay in an extremely humiliating way, I wasn't surprised when he nearly killed me. He'd been beating me for as long as I can remember. I wasn't even surprised to find myself in a conversion camp the next day being beat by men I didn’t even know. I was a little surprised to be scooped up by leader and forced into a "relationship" I didn't want. As the years pass, and I'm allowed more freedom, I eventually sneak around and get a job. And then sneak around and leave. The gym is the only place I can hide since Wade doesn't even know I work there, and I start secretly living out of it, hoping like crazy the big, gruff, delicious owner never finds out. Especially since I'm not longer afraid of him, but I'm absolutely terrified of the way he makes me feel.

Langston Bell

The moment I see the beautiful young man huddled under the desk in fear, I know I have to take care of him. So, when a friend of his ex's shows up at the gym, looking for him, I'm more than happy to help hide him. And when a tripped alarm in the middle of the night shows me that the sweet man had nothing and no one, I move him in with me, fully intending to be on my best behavior, especially since I'm like twice his age. But I've never craved another man the way I crave him, and I'm clearly not as strong as I thought I was.

As with all my books, this series is pretty fluffy. Not much angst at all, no cheating and definitely a happy ending! Meant to be a light hearted read to make you laugh… or at least smile.

Enjoy!! ::blowing you kisses::

Ahhh..this was what I had been waiting for. It was so much better than the last. it was still sweet and fluffy but also hurt-comfort. Jordan's story is terrible. I loved Langston and how he purposely was gentle and talked low and easy to not scare Jordan. And how he took care of him when he needed it. But not only that, I loved seeing Jordan come out of his shell with Langston's care. Just too sweet and precious.

A very cute and easy read.

--------------------------

3.5 stars

I’ve read the first 4 books of this series in a row and since they all follow the same formula I’m just going to write 1 review and be done with it.

These books are short, fluffy, have some hurt/comfort, and all end rather abruptly.

They’re nice for a rainy Sunday afternoon, but don’t expect anything too deep.

This was a gem. You’re gonna wanna cuddle the f*ck out of this book!!!

Jordan and Langston are so sweet together. Their heat has been building since book one. And the wait paid off big time here! Readers watched as they slowly moved from little squeaks and hiding to sweet smiles and eye contact to hopefully long lasting domestic bliss! Haha….You have to meet them to see it all play out. I’m a sucker for big, lovable grumps with a heart of gold, so Langston was a favorite of mine from the word go. And the more I got to see and know Jordan, the more I rooted for him. But together…BOOM! They ignited!

“Jordan,” I groaned, pressing my forehead against his. He responded with a small noise that sounded something like a whine that dipped low into a moan, and everything in the room except the two of us disappeared as we stood there in the middle of the dance floor, our hearts pounding and our breathing harsh.”

Every touch and caress from Langston made me “aww” and melt. And to see Jordan open up and show more and more of his personality, pain, and heart was so beautiful. And fun! Light never fails to add the fun with awkwardness and jokes. I loved it all! Especially the margaritas and beatboxing. :) Watching these two grow closer is something special. Jordan not only finds a place and person to feel safe with and trust. He finds a crazy family to boot!

“I looked around the room at the laughing, bickering people and realized that they were it. The atmosphere they all came together to make, of home and safety. They were a family.”

But here’s the thing, Langston is 23 years older than Jordan. Can they make a relationship work? Jump in and see!

Off to book 4…

Why 4.5?

There needs to be a warning of long-term sexual abuse in the author's note below the synopsis. Obviously, abuse from Jordan's past is mentioned, but some readers need to know exactly what kind before they invest their time so that they can decide if they're mentally prepared. That being said, I will be mentioning some aspects of the sexual abuse, so fair warning.

Jordan had come a long way, but his recovery after years of sexual and physical abuse was ridiculously sped up. And I don't remember any mention of him going to therapy at all during the months he started working at the gym and living with Langston (at the beginning of the book, Jordan mentions in his narrative that it had been four days since his last beating).

This would have been good enough for 2 stars if not for the thoughts Jordan had during his first sexual experience with Langston. Just as an example, during sex the narrative was from Jordan's POV and he was thinking about how in the past he couldn't go to the bathroom without crying and bleeding after being assaulted. There were a few even more disturbing thoughts/memories he had, but I will spare you from those. My point is this: those thoughts DO NOT belong in the middle of a sex scene of a "light-hearted" book. If they must be included at all, they should be either before or after the scene. Call me crazy, but that's one hell of a mood-killer.

Three other small things that bothered me:
1) Langston signed Jordan up for self-defense lessons at their gym, but he never encouraged Jordan to seek therapy, which I think he needed way more than the self-defense.
2) Jordan doesn't seem to fully acknowledge that he was being sexually assaulted at the beginning of his abuse. He tells his story, but it was all in the vein of how he thought it was love or something, but then sex just hurt every single time, and he eventually realized that he was being abused. This is what makes me really wish that the author had put Jordan through therapy, so that he could really see what was being done to him. Based on what I read, Jordan seemed to have just barely scraped the surface in his mind of what really happened. It felt like--- even to the end with that fucked-up sex scene--- Jordan was looking at his years of abuse as something lighter. I'm not sure how else to explain it.
3) That stupid confrontation scene at the end where Jordan comes face-to-face with his two attackers. I'm glad that Langston got a PI involved to investigate and start arresting those involved in the conversion camp that Jordan was forced into, but there's no closure after that. Jordan nails one of the guys in the head with a hole-puncher, but after Langston comes over to help, the two guys just walk away. I'm sorry, but that is such a lame conclusion for all the crap that I had to read about involving Jordan's awful abuse. There was absolutely no justice and maybe like 20% closure.

I did like the sweet and slow romance of Jordan and Langston, but overall, everything I just talked about kind of overrides that.

trigger warning

This was really good and low angst; however, i feel like there should be a trigger warning. Jordan was put in a camp by his parents to 'cure' him from being gay, and although the story begins after that, he does go through some of his emotions and deal with that in the story. if that's a trigger for anyone, this is the lightest version of this kind of story I've ever read, but it's there. If that's too much for you then maybe go to the next one. This series is really good.

Running scared

Om! Great and sad all in one! I was waiting for Jordans story because I just knew that there was something really sad and that is why he kept hiding from the Big Man, but Langston is such a sweet and gentle giant of a man that it took sometime for Jordan to get comfortable around him. Being able to be free and find love took courage and to keep fighting. Loved this story and can’t wait to read the next one!

For a short, supposedly cute and adorable book, I didn't expect Jordan had a painful past.
Good thing he met Langston, a big gruff guy he has crush one from day one.
I was curious about Jordan's story from the beginning. Turns out, it was as I expected. I liked Jordan and Langston a lot, enjoyed their relationship more that Knox and Brighton, LOL. They're just weird.
Off to the next book, Farris.

Ugh. I am so in love with this series

I can’t even tell you how much I love this newish series she has going here. It’s a smidge heavier in topic content than her other stuff, but still just as funny. Her sense of humor know no bounds. Can’t wait for the next one. Hope more glitter stories will follow :-) :-)

Older Man Younger Man

I loved reading Langston and Jordan story. Langston being an older man who just happens to own the gym where Jordan started working.
There is drama or past abuse but love can heal a body and heart.

Quick and fun read

Jordan is the third book in J.D. Light's Training Days series. It is a quick read... sweet, mostly fluffy love story that is low on angst but high on smile inducing mushiness. Funny, sweet and fun... especially with this age gap theme.

I absolutely HATED how Jordan called Wade (or whatever his name was) an ex. Is there a barf emoji I can insert here? That's no ex.

I'm actually loving this fun little series though.

Cute story, but it's just too short. It skipped over most of the relationship development, and I'm supposed to care if they get together?

Bittersweet read

This installment was much sader and slightly less fluffier than the usual J.D. Light books (in this series at least) but it was another amazing read.

I loved Jordan and Langston's story. It was slightly hard to read, as it kind of punches you in the gut, but it was beautifully written.

I loved the friendship and love that developed between these two.

Great book once again

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey’s books)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

So worth the wait!!!!

I love this book. It was so good. I had been waiting on Jordan and Langston's books since Chandler's book. Jordan's past was so suckish but I'm glad that he found a place where he was loved for who he was. Watching him and Langston come together was awesome. I absolutely loved it I can't wait for Farris and Banner's story.
