I am in LOVE with this series! From the moment I opened the book until the very end, I was hooked! The writing is smooth, flawless and easy to follow. I love the creative mind behind this story and it was executed with precision.
At the beginning of the story Amelie is a pushover, somewhat of a doormat. Through her experiences and the love from the right person, she flourishes into a strong and self-confident woman. I appreciated seeing her blossom into a brave and fierce woman. Henri is a man anyone could fall for. He's the definition of a protecting, fierce and gentleman. Watching him verbally spare with Amelie was amusing and I enjoyed their interactions.
I highly recommend this book to everyone! It's so wonderfully written with love, time travel and so much mystery the reader will never be able to guess what happens next. This was my first read by this author and I'm now completely addicted to her writing.

Parallel and Intersect are two of my favorite books of 2019. I shouted my love from the rooftops, foisted the duet on all my friends, regardless if they read romance or not.
I truly thought nothing could top Nick and Quinn.
And then Elizabeth O'Roark brought us Across Time. I won't give spoilers (of which there are MANY twists and turns in this one) but I will say this: O'Roark has outdone herself with Henri and Amelie. From the prologue, my heart was in my throat--and by the time I reached the last page, my emotions had taken a turn on every emotional rollercoaster available. I swooned, I laughed out loud, I clutched my kindle like it was my only chance of survival. I breathed these characters in a way that bordered on an obsessive need to see where they ended up while simultaneously wishing their story could last forever.
Across Time is a story that grips you and won't let go. Prepare to get addicted. Prepare to fall in love. But, most of all, prepare to sink your teeth into a book that will leave you gasping for more.
Across Time is my Top Read of 2019, hands down, no questions asked. I'm obsessed, and Elizabeth, if you read this, just know that you slayed this story in every single way. I wish I could stay with Henri & Amelie forever.

Omg!!! Seriously my favorite read of 2019! Ok, first a few things. This was my first ARC ever. I won a giveaway, which I don't think I've ever won anything besides a T-shirt at camp in 4th grade. Second, this ends in a cliffhanger! So anybody who's so turned off by cliffhangers they lower the rating of a book, do your research first.
Ok, the goods. I don't even know where to start! The book starts out with 21 year old Sarah leaving New York in 1987 in search of a woman in 1938 France. She's been having recurring nightmares that she is to find this woman and help her. Sarah is more or less doing this to stop the nightmares and move on with her life. She's not seeing this ability to go back in time as a gift, but she wouldn't either as her mom has pretty much disowned her because of it.
Sarah finds the woman in France, but along with this woman, Marie, is her brother, Henri. As Sarah stays with Marie and Henri to figure out why she was so desperately needed here, she learns the way of life of 1938 France and a woman's place in it. Sarah, aka Amelie, is appalled by most of the sexist roles and how a woman is regarded back in those days, but the same is said for Henri as he thinks Amelie's modern ways are crass and unladylike.
As everyday talk and ways of life turns into fights between Amelie and Henri, their banter goes from barely being able to stay in the same room to almost pushing each other's buttons on purpose. Social events bring out jealousy and it only drives Sarah/Amelie more to focus on why she's there to begin with and to hurry back and get to her time and her soon to be fiance.
Ok, I'm going to stop right here because I need the readers of this to understand that this IS A LOVE STORY!!! A romance that surpasses time, generations, abilities, everything! In fact, it is one of the best love stories I've ever read! But there is a HUGE mystery in all of this that makes it truly mind stumping. What is Amelie/Sarah supposed to do, what happened to Henri and Marie's mother who all of sudden disappeared, what is this mysterious "Circle of Light"? So many questions and so little time because in just a little bit, Hitler and his Nazi's will overthrow France.
This book.....Gahhhhhh!!!! It is so beautifully written. The falling in love, and the good ol fashioned way. The courting, the simple hand holding that made ME feel like MY heart was going to explode! The mystery component truly has me wondering what could possibly be going on! I mean there's certain things I have theories about but that's just it. CERTAIN things, not the big picture. This is a must read! The romance, the mystery, the banter, the history, it's just pure perfection.

If you read Parallel and Intersect, you'll surely enjoy this book since it is another EPIC read from this author. Across Time by Elizabeth O'Roark will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!

Really liked it!
This story will keep you entertained from the first page. I love time-travel romances and this one was a hit! It starts a little slow but I was never bored. I really liked that there's a mystery that keeps you on edge, but the heart of this book is its beautiful love story. Amelie and Henri are true soul mates. When they first meet they don't like each other, but as time goes by you can tell that they love each other deeply.
Overall this is a great time travel romance that I highly recommend to everyone! Its a beautiful story, but keep in mind that this book ends on a cliffhanger. The good thing is that the next book is already out, so you don't have to wait for the conclusion to Henri and Amelie's story.

🔹 Overall feelings:
〰 I really enjoyed this even though we don’t really have a plot for about 75% of this book. That said, after reading a review for the sequel, I can confidently say that I won’t be continuing on with this duology. The direction that this story takes in the second book is not something that I could ever enjoy so going forward, I’ll just pretend that Sarah and Henri’s story ends in this book.
⛔️ Spoiler for the next book (Across Eternity):
〰 Apparently Henri gets another woman pregnant a few months after Sarah disappears. So he decides to marry said OW even though he can’t even be sure if the baby is his. Sarah comes back and finds that the man who vowed to wait for her has already started a whole other life without her (mind you, she literally left, got kidnapped and hurt trying to figure out what happened to his mother). Not only that, but according to the reviews, the OW makes it a point to treat Sarah horribly and apparently Henri always sides with the OW and rubs salt into the would by constantly calling the latter his “wife”. I don’t care if the hero was depressed or if hasn’t touched his wife since that one time— That is just not something I want to read about in a romance novel (tbh who would). In my opinion, that was probably the absolute worst direction the author could have taken the story and that’s why I won’t be continuing on with the duology. Sorry for the rant lol.

WOW! This story -- I think I'll end 2019 on top with a winner, and call myself a lucky reader. I don't think I can top it. Besides very few, I'm not a big time-travel fan, or I wasn't until I discovered Elizabeth O'Roark. No spoilers coming from this reader -- just praise for how good it is and beautifully written. Every reader should experience every minute on their own. I loved these characters and the entire journey from start to finish. And after that cliffy, I'm going to be counting the days until April 1, 2020 when the story continues with the release of "Across Eternity."

Not a fan of this schtick. The cheating wasn’t justified. The heroine is the only to suffer and if that wasn’t bad enough the author throws in the “heroine can’t have kids and now is stuck raising the baby born form her husbands cheating” plot line. There is just no saving this crap.

I, just...I hardly have the words.
How does one review a tale of desperate, aching love that is so powerful it bridges the trenches of time itself? I surely have no idea.
Some may criticize this series for being "slow" or lacking in a driving plot. But that's perhaps the point. It's a time-traveling romance, sure, but the focus isn't on the paranormal aspects of the world: it's on the characters. The relationships. The love. Oh, boy...the LOVE.
I would literally sell my left kidney - and probably the right one, too - for Henri "I will wait for you until my dying breath" Durand. There, that was one of his quotes, but I'll leave you with just a few more in an effort to convince the world that this book needs to be read by EVERYONE:
"You're exquisite. You're exquisite when you're outside feeding the chickens and when you're in here scrubbing laundry, sweaty and annoyed with me. You took my breath away when I walked in the room tonight...something I assumed you must realize since no one at the dance could look away from you."
"What will it take to keep you, Sarah? Name it, and if it's in my power, it's yours."
Are you convinced? Good. Because please, for the love of god, read this series. It will change you.

BEST ROMANCE OF 2019!! Thanks to Elizabeth for providing me with an ARC of this amazing book!
Elizabeth O'Roark has always been one of my automatic reads, but this book is my favorite to date. Her new time travel series (Parallel) is fabulous, and this book is an wonderful addition to that world.
This story revolves around Amelie, who is from the 1990s, and Henri, the man she meets when she travels back to France in the 1930s. Amelie is haunted by dreams of Kat, her dead sister. Each dream is the same - her sister begs her to help a woman named Marie in Reims, France. While Amelie wants to give up time travel and just live a normal life, she decides she must travel into the past one more time, to do what her sister has asked. Her trip back in time puts her in the path of Henri, a beautiful man who does not like or trust her. He is adamant that she leave and go back to her own time. However, after several unpleasant interactions, Amelie and Henri slowly develop a deep friendship. While Amelie knows she has to return to her time, as time goes on, she finds it difficult to leave Henri. She also is terrified of the horror Henri and his sister will confront if they continue to stay in France as WWII approaches.
There are so many reasons I love this book. First, I am a big fan of slow burn romances, and this one is amazing. There is sexual tension almost from the beginning, but it continues to build as Henri and Amelie get to know each other. Second, the banter. Amelie's interactions with Henri are so funny and charming, that you quickly realize these two individuals are meant to be together. Third, the story. It is part romance, part mystery and part fantasy. All of which combine to make this book a wonderful ride. There is a cliff-hanger ending, that will leave you desperately wanting the second book. (ARGH.)
Ultimately, I give this book my highest rating. 5+++ stars!

the whole concept of the story is so different and unique. Its about a girl name Sarah who can time travel but she hates it, but unfortunately she has to travel back in 1938 because she had a dream where her dead sister Kit says Sarah to save “ them” now when Sarah travels back in time she meets Marie and Henri. Marie is a time traveler too while Henri is just protecting his sister. At first Henri and Sarah argued a lot but they eventually fell in love. Did i mention that this story takes place before the 1940 war? Which makes it more interesting to read because now Sarah and Henri has to survive the war.
I was getting Outlander vibes from this book and absolutely loved it. The chemistry and bonding between Henri and Sarah was do unique. But what i didnt like was that their relationship was “ i liked you from the beginning thats why i pretended to hate you” types which i am not a fan of. It was slow burn kinda but once Sarah confessed her love for Henri their relationship escalated REAL QUICK. I didnt like that, once they said the three words they started fucking like bunnies and even started talking about marriage and kids. so it things went really fast at the end. Other than that, i liked it. Sarah is strong and independent but she needed a push/ guidance which Henri did. She always wanted her mother’s approval but her mom hates her because she thinks Sarah is evil cuz of her powers and thats the reason Sarah kinda blames herself for somethings she didnt do and also hates her powers. Then she also chose the wrong man for her life....but then she met Henri and he showed her that she can do whatever she wants and not care about the people who doesnt deserve her. While on the other hand Henri was a jerk at first but i get it where he was coming from and why he behaved like the way he did,
The cliffhanger was kinda sad but also full of suspense which makes me want to read the next book asap. The whole series is full of mystery and secrets which was amazing.

I didnt like that, once they said the three words they started fucking like bunnies and even started talking about marriage and kids. so it things went really fast at the end. Other than that, i liked it. Sarah is strong and independent but she needed a push/ guidance which Henri did. She always wanted her mother’s approval but her mom hates her because she thinks Sarah is evil cuz of her powers and thats the reason Sarah kinda blames herself for somethings she didnt do and also hates her powers. Then she also chose the wrong man for her life....but then she met Henri and he showed her that she can do whatever she wants and not care about the people who doesnt deserve her. While on the other hand Henri was a jerk at first but i get it where he was coming from and why he behaved like the way he did,
The cliffhanger was kinda sad but also full of suspense which makes me want to read the next book asap. The whole series is full of mystery and secrets which was amazing.

“Across time” is a book about time travel and about a romance that seems quite innocent in the beginning, but turns really hot in the end.
Amelie and Henri are the main characters of the book. Amelie’s time is 1987, but the majority of the action takes place in 1938, just before the II World War and as you may have guessed it’s the time when Amelie meets Henri and Marie (Henri’s sister). Along the way, the three of them form a really strong bond and even though it may seem like Marie is the focus of the book, because of a prophecy, the main attention is on Henri. The mysterious and hardworking man who treats Amelie poorly. But it’s all a facade.
Amelie spends quite a while with the 2 brothers and she gets attached to each of them. Which only brings her decisions to return to her time, to be a lot harder. Is she supposed to return? She left in her time a boyfriend she’s been with for 2 years, a family and the memory of her sister. But the time spent with Henri and Marie was the happiest she lived in a long time.
I have to admit, the book seemed a little boring in the beginning and it felt a lot like Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, but I couldn’t be more wrong. When I reached 30% of it, I started being pulled into the story and I couldn’t let it down - and of course, I found its originality. I fell in love with Henri and his constant facade. He was such a good actor. Pretending he didn’t feel a lot of things.
Also, when I reached 80% of the book, it started to be more interesting. At this point, it was 11 p. m. and I knew the next day I would have to wake up early to work and still the only though I had was “one more chapter.”
The only thing I didn’t quite liked, was that the book ended in a serious cliffhanger!!! And I’m now more curious than ever to find out what happens next.
In conclusion, I really liked this book and I recommend it to anyone! ❤️

I couldn't wait to read this book once Elizabeth O'Roark made the announcement that there would be a story taking place in historic France. After reading Parallel and Intersect, I couldn't get enough of this world of time traveling women, particularly regarding a mysterious character whom the reader didn't have the opportunity to get to know, but very much wants to and has so many questions for her and her past. This book did not disappoint and carried the same vein of romance, angst, wit and suspense.
Amelie Besson arrives in a barn in 1938 and is unwelcome by its surly and suspicious owner, Henri Durand. Amelie has a potentially bright future ahead of her in the present day, but has some unresolved matters to handle first, which is why she's here. She's still not exactly sure what her purpose is, but in order to move forward, she has to carry out her duties and hopefully absolve herself of some longstanding guilt. Amelie is not a fan of her time traveling ability and would rather ignore and suppress it altogether, which is her plan once this trip is over.
I absolutely loved the dynamic between Henri and Amelie and was endlessly amused. They constantly antagonize each other at every turn with sharp barbs and digs, but the underlying sexual tension is so electric and obvious from the very beginning. Henri comes across as brooding, arrogant and unimpressed, but he adores his sister Marie and is otherwise pleasant to everyone else. He is doubtful of Amelie's motives, but she manages to forge a close friendship with Marie. Henri is my favorite combination of direct, reluctant, perceptive, caring, protective and chivalrous. He says all the wrong things, but his actions dictate otherwise. Nick from Parallel and Intersect is a hard act to follow and I loved him something fierce, but Henri’s brand of charm hit all the right checkboxes for me (especially with knowing who he is in relation to the main character in that duet).
It was entertaining to watch Amelie adapt to a period several decades earlier, devoid of modern day conveniences. She couldn't wait to go home, but any time she talks about home, it was questionable as to what she was returning to. After being around Henri and Marie, she develops a bond that feels more familiar to her than with anyone else in her life, causing her to question if she should go back. I watched her grow as a character and saw her make some significant strides in terms of self-love and acceptance. Henri constantly challenges her to be authentically real. Amelie also has to decide how much to reveal to Henri and Marie about the future during this pre-war era and there are some other mysteries intertwined that have a direct impact on each of these characters. Will they have a chance at the future they want or will their paths take an alternate trajectory? From the very first page, I was immersed and captivated, feeling completely invested in these characters. Needless to say, I cannot wait to find out what happens next because I want answers. If you thoroughly enjoyed Parallel and Intersect, this one is another winner with Elizabeth O'Roark's brand of writing.

Loved loved loved this story. This book is further proof that Elizabeth O’Roark is some sort of magical literary unicorn. I’m not typically a paranormal fan, or a historical fiction fan, really, but she made me one with Across Time. I was so invested in the story and can’t wait to see how it comes together!!!

Across time, is a book that will defy time. Once you pick it up, you won't know where the time went. It is hard not to read this story in just one sitting. It has that perfect balance of slow burn and intrigue that makes it impossible to set down. The depth of characters in this story will have you feeling and fall in love with the characters as they find their way. For those of you who loved the Parallel duet, this one will absolutely blow you away.
Elizabeth O'Roark's superior depth of character and emotions makes this story come alive and will have you wishing you could defy time and space to be apart of this story!

Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Elizabeth knocks it out of the park again!! Couldn’t put it down. What continues to impress me is her beautiful writing and how much more advanced her plots and style are than most other novels in this category. Can’t wait for her next one!!

There was a repetition in the tropes as far as the romance is concerned with the previous books but there is a reason why , and I will not say it obviously so as not to give spoilers, so it didn't bother me .
The chemistry ,the tension,the banter of this couple had me hooked, it carried me away so much that I forgot how ,when and what is happening,so when chapter 24 came I was really in shock, thinking about the previous books with the current situation I cannot describe my sadness to you...

I did not expect the historical fiction element of this book (set in 1937) but the time period mixed with the time travel made this so suspenseful! While books 1&2 read separately to this story, there’s a cliffhanger making me ready to start book 4!

Henri Durand might be a bit of a bad boy, but he's also so full of swoon-inducing love, compassion and fierce protectiveness that he makes me want to time travel back to 1938 so I can witness all his hero yumminess in person.
Amelie Besson gets to experience all things Henri, but it takes a while for him to show her his good side, and that’s certainly not why she traveled from 1987 back to 1938. Her deceased sister has been haunting Amelie's dreams, urging her to find Marie, Henri’s sister, and help her. Leaving all her modern conveniences but not knowing what her mission really is, Amelie takes the leap, lands in the Durand's barn, and finds herself staring down the business end of a shotgun.
Marie, a fellow time traveler, quickly welcomes and embraces Amelie, but it’s a different story with Henri (see above shotgun statement). Henri has his reasons for not wanting Amelie in his time, but as the days go on, his coolness towards her begins to thaw. As bits and pieces are revealed in this fascinating, complex story and Amelie begins to understand her purpose for traveling to 1938, things get even more complicated as well as dangerous.
This is the only writer who can lure me away from contemporary romance and have me reading not only paranormal but historical romance and loving every second of it! Her gifted words are beautiful on the page and evoke such a wide array of emotion that I feel like I’m living every experience alongside the characters. I couldn’t get enough of Henri and Amelie, and I’m dying, I tell you.
Dying because, yes, this is not the end of their story. I really and truly despise a cliffie, but it's so worth it to have met Henri and Amelie and read the first part of their riveting, profound, heart breaking story, and I can’t wait for more! Alas, short of some way to coerce someone to put Across Eternity in my greedy little hands early, I’ll be eagerly awaiting the conclusion to their story in a few months with the rest of the romance world. So wait for the conclusion, if you must, but do not pass up the opportunity to read this hypnotizing, magical story about truly extraordinary characters!

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Stars! Time travel romance. I loved it! I read the parallel duet by this author and decided I had to read this one too, because they were excellent and a definite most read. I read this one, but I should have waited until the 2nd book to release before reading this, because, this book ends on a gigantic cliffhanger. I won’t get relief until April 2020, that’s so far away!
Henri and Sarah are beautiful together, they have great chemistry. I loved them fighting in the beginning. This was very much an enemies to lovers trope. Their attraction was obvious, and they fought it at every turn. Lots of angst. It was cute. This author does an awesome job writing time travel novels, that sounds very believable.

Another spellbinding and spectacular story by the very talented Elizabeth O’Roark. The story itself is so eloquently written, it’s captivating and it’s absolutely mesmerizing. It has that perfect balance of slow burn and intrigue that makes it impossible to put down.
