Audiobook review:

James Fuller ties up this duology beautifully with What’s Left!

Picking up six years after What Remains, we get to see how Auska has grown and how much Archer has imprinted on her. In many ways, she’s become a mini version of him, both the good sides and the bad.

When Auska is kidnapped and taken from Sanctuary, she has to truly prove it she’s strong enough to survive the harsh world she traversed as a child.

Filled with action, adventure, personal growth, and an ending that warmed my soul, What’s Left is an amazing read. I would highly recommend both of these books to anyone who enjoys post-apocalyptic stories!

*I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author and this is my honest, voluntary review.*

Auska is my fave!

I truly loved watching her fight, struggle, plan, and grow! There really aren’t many zombies although it is the zombie Apoc but instead of focusing on the zombies and why they were, this was more the story of Auska and her journey through the apocalypse. And of course her ghosts or skull lol. I thought she was brilliant! Loved Wisecracking Wren and Vincent. I felt some irony in her redoing her trip she made in the first book but under different circumstances and this time re-discovering Hope, a purpose and trusting a few people!

She grew up.

Auska members Archers teachings and uses them to save Sanctuary from the Council. James Fuller has created the most intense drama filled book. From battle to battle he leads Auska until she saves What's Left.

I loved this book on so many levels! This review will have some small spoilers, I won't be able to avoid it! I was drawn into these two books after reading another one of James Fullers novels. This is not my favorite genre, but this duet made me fall in love! I was left in turmoil when book one ended with Archer's death. I was heartbroken. He was one heck of a bad a*s and I truly thought he was invincible! The way he stayed with Auska even though it was against everything he believed and then made sure Vincent and Kelly stayed with her to Sanctuary was so honorable. Auska was young, heartbroken and still a had false hope. In this book we see just how much Archer truly impacted her. She's grown up, a force to be reckoned with and is happy to be a loner like Archer was. She carries him with her, uses the skills he taught her to take anyone down that gets in her way.

I was gripped from beginning to end. The situations and events seemed impossible, you wonder how on earth she/they will find their way out. It's nonstop and oh so hard to stop reading. You will be shocked by who is good, who is bad, who can be trusted and who will be the next to turn. Their seemingly perfect compound isn't so perfect. Sinister things are happening to the people. Auska will make it her mission to set it right. I LOVE her like I loved Archer, I am going to miss this world!

I listened to the audio version and let me tell you the narrator TJ Pohlman was fantastic! His delivery of this amazing book was spot on. You felt every word. Every emotion. Each character unique and so fluid. Loved it. Do yourself a favor and read this today! Well done James!

What’s Left (Book 2) by James Fuller is the second novel is this edgy, thrilling duet. This is definitely my favorite book by this author so far, but reading the first book is a must to fully understand the amazing characters of Archer and Auska.

James Fuller paints this post-apocalyptic world as kill or be killed where only the strong survive. In the first book, What Remains, Archer is our reluctant hero. He is as tough and hard as they come and his number one rule is self-preservation, because helping and caring for others will only get you killed. In spite of his rules, though, he becomes a begrudging mentor to the naive Auska, teaches her how to survive then helps her find the community called Sanctuary.

In What’s Left, Auska’s grown up and has adopted all that Archer taught her—to be self-reliant, tough and a loner like he was. But Auska finds out that Sanctuary is not all it appears to be and when they realize she knows their awful secret, she is ‘dealt with’ and must use every skill she has to survive and even more, to affect change.

This is an exceptionally well-written, fast-paced action read that will keep you engaged wondering how Auska will survive the Slavers, Cannibals, the infected and her own people. I strongly recommend this read.

Holy Moly! This book picks up a number of years after What Remains left off and did not miss a beat! This book also had me rooted to my chair and carefully reading every word. I found it very well written, a wonderful continuation of the original story that kept up with the action packed and fast paced story that started the adventure off! The climb to the finish did not miss a beat, and raised my heart rate! I suggest you read book one first so you can familiarize yourself with the characters and the background of all the action. This is the third book I have read by this author and I am again impressed at Mr. Fuller's amazing talent in creating another strong female lead. Well done!

This was an amazing follow up to book one, I enjoyed it so much I read both books back to back, and wanted more! Another fast paced, action packed read that had me on the edge of the seat, it was an emotional rollercoaster. Auska's grown up and missing Archer, and stumbles into a conspiracy within Sanctuary's wall, and learns one more final lesson from Archer. More great suspense and shocking plot twist, and fantastic narration, this is a series worth following, I can't wait for the next book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
