Name's Vicki Graves. I'm a monster hunter. If you need me, it's already too late. I hunt the kind of things that will kill you if you don't kill them first. You vamps, witches, demons. That sort of thing. And I ain't exactly picky about it either. I'll take out any supernatural I'm told...or die trying.
But this time, the case is personal. Personal enough that I might make a mistake, and then it really will be the death of me.
It's not like I can turn it down, though. Not after waiting all these years to discover what happened to my family. Nobody wants to open up that sort of wound for inspection...but I needed closure.
Which is exactly why I'm facing down a seethe of vamps in a dirty, out of town garage. And I half expected that, really. What I didn't expect? To be doing it with nothing to protect myself but my sexy high heel boots and a crumpled piece of paper.
f you loved Supernatural and books by Hailey Edwards, you'll sink your teeth into Graves Files.

This was the best work by Thea Atkins I have read so far. Vicki was a hard , take no nonsense heroine, which made her a very engaging and realistic character given the environment she lived in. The almost apocalyptic atmosphere added a certain grittiness that enhanced the seriousness and severity of Vicki's backstory and the ominous atmosphere of the society as whole. Hope to see more of Vicki and her boys, they are a riot.
“The Graves Files“ by Thea Atkinson is an enticing story with a no-nonsense heroine (Vicky), who engages hand-on with the situation doing her job, even when it gets personal. As a hunter her work consists of tracking down vamps, witches and demons and swiftly ‘removing’ the threat they pose.
While Vicky is a very strong and capable female, Chase and Johnnie (her friends and associates) are not only successful hunters, but a never-ending source of banter and joy, to light even the most gruesome case, and on top of everything they are very good friends, the kind that would do everything to help their friend to unearth the truth about the disappearance of Vicky’s family eleven years ago. Now they have a new lead, it should finally bring closure, but it turns out to throw more questions than answers and sent Vicky into the same small town the tragedy took place those years ago, but what was supposed to be a quick ‘cleaning’ job, is everything but that.
A well-written story in Thea Atkinson incomparable witty/sassy style, with a trio of wonderful characters, even if Vicky is undoubtedly intended as main character, is in fact the wonderful chemistry between the whole trio, what set this story apart. Struggles, tribulations, sharp turns, unexpected twists with seasoned with captivating personalities and very detailed descriptions, what more do you really need to pick up the story and just… read for yourself 😉
Graves Files concise great read! I fully enjoyed it. It’s short but definitely well written with fully developed characters and kind of has a Suoernatursl vibe as in the the famous brothers and thrircbeginining. I thinks Irvine of the biggest reasons I liked it. Totally different yet familiar in that comforting way. Graves is tough, stubborn and a touch snarky and a good fit for her partners. They understand each others weaknesses and play off their strengths as well. I’m looking forward to more!
ONE ENTHRALLING JOURNEY!!! Ah snap! Thea imparts one enthusiastic, jaw dropping, block busting, prize winning, fun filled, piece of perfection that's as captivating as it is riveting. A tumultuous wild ride with a bevy of surprising incidents that blasts all of your emotions into play perfectly. The drama, intrigue, turmoil and suspense, while tension spirals, wielding this baby together flawlessly. Yielding incredibly, well rounded scenario's, ramping up the zeal and gusto with such intensity and precision, blasting this gem to life spectacularly. Struggling through the trials and tribulations, along with sharp twists, sleek turns and thin lines, testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. The characters are authentic, genuine and realistic with depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Thea, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Another brilliantly written book by Ms Atkinson. This one looks like it might outdo all the other series so far. This story is the beginning of a new series with characters we haven't met before but still have a kick-ass, sassy female lead. Vicky is a hunter that seems to enjoy her work and her partners Scott and Chase. There's lots of banter between them that makes them comfortable to get to know. This storyline is a non-stop adventure and thrills type of story that keeps the blood pumping and the pages turning faster and faster. I loved it and can't wait to read the next book in the series
Vicki Graves, a supernatural hunter, teams up with Chase and Scott, also hunters, to go to the town that changed the trajectory of her life. As the story progresses things aren’t what they appear to be, laying her past to rest becomes trickier, and the truth is definitely stranger than first thought. Fans of the show Supernatural will enjoy Thea Atkinson’s latest book Graves Files. With a compelling cast, thrilling situations, and a whole host of baddies I expect the series to be a hit and look forward to reading more.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Vampire hunters try to make things right, but what happens when things don't go like you want? Scott, Chase and Vicki are vampire hunters and try to clean out vampire nests but they don't go easy. Vicki's mother and brother disappeared and she spent years trying to find them. A lead has this trip going to a small town to clean it up but what they encountered wasn't what they were expecting and had them rethinking the objective. The characters are well written with some comedy. A exciting book with good storytelling.
Vicki Graves is a monster hunter. When her brother and mother mysteriously disappear from the riverside campsite when she was 11, she would spend the next 11 years never getting over it. Now, the same place has mysterious deaths, and bodies showing up. 3 of them are sent to discover the paranormal leanings of the deaths. Nice take on the hunter genre, I would have liked more fleshing out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Ms Atkinson has done it again with this brand new series that I think will set the supernatural world on its end. I’m all about a strong, engaging, kick butt female lead and that’s what you have in Vicki. She’s intense, dark and compelling. This first installment is a total attention grabber with unique content and a hands on supporting cast of characters that completely draws you in to their world and doesn’t let go.
Wow - I really enjoyed this story. I love the very strong female lead, she is a bit twisted and dark, she is a hunter and fights the monsters of the world. I enjoyed the plot and the way the two men interacted with her. The story is very well written and the ending leads into the next story. I can’t wait.
They say your past makes who you are and for Vicki it's definitely a part of her. It hits close to home with a new case and maybe give her answers. Another great story with a gal full of strength and friends who are there to keep her grounded. It's a definite must read and I hope we get to see more of this crew!
I am going to LOVE this new series! Hunters of all things supernatural and seriously fearless. I loved the back and forth between the characters. I loved the characters. I look forward to reading the next book!
This is a really great book. The storyline grabbed my interest from the start. The story is well written and the characters are well developed. I had a hard time putting this book down, really enjoyed. (I received this book as an arc and am leaving a voluntary honest review)
I have read other Books by this author before and this is another fine example of her style. She is able to create great atmosphere, and although I was reading in nice warm conditions I felt right there with the heroin in the cold and dark.
This is book one of The Grave Files series and the main character is Vicki Graves, but she is usually known by her surname only. She is a hunter after an incident on a family camping trip left her losing her mother and twin brother Chris back when she was only a kid herself. Her father pretty much fell apart after that and she left home at fourteen, emancipated and trying to learn all she could about supernatural creatures. It was only when she was saved from a large nest of vampires by Chase, that she finally learnt that vampires were real and all about the hunter organisation. She was paired with Chase as a trainer in the actual hunter clan, learning more about the job and finally earning her badge as a fully-fledged hunter. But the events of all those years ago have never been dealt with properly, nor forgotten, as Graves can still sense that her twin brother is with her.
Graves buys a spell that should be helpful sometime when she really needs an escape route, but ends up having to use it nearly straight away and portals back into the upstairs meeting room of the hunters. She gets sent to get a coffee from Joy, one of the leaders and is soon interrupted by Chase and his partner Scott, who have been called in for a new job. She wasn’t informed about it, as it was thought it would be hitting too close to the past for her! But Graves refuses to be left behind and ends up going with the two young men to the very town where she lost half her family all those years ago, as reports of more missing people come in. A local contact believes it is ghosts that are responsible for the missing people, but now two men disappeared, but this time bodies have been found, with a white handprint on the torso. A new development for a series of missing people that seems to occur every decade, since the early 1800’s. What they do find is much more dangerous than a ghost and will be loads more of a problem to deal with. The trio will have their work cut out for them, but maybe Graves will find a bit of resolution to her past at last. I can’t wait to see what dangers Graves and the other hunters may face in the rest of the series. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
This is the first book I believe I've read by this author. The cover is very enticing and the blurb sounded really good. So, good, I think I got a copy from both Amazon and from Bookspout (in exchange for my honest review). I did not realize the book was a novella. Novellas, due to the short length, rarely are winners for me unless they are part of a series I know the characters from so I have all that back story and context to assist the shorter length.
There is potential here and I like the unusual bad guy here, or perhaps really, victim. The Graves Files has potential and if you like a shorter format and urban fantasy this may do for you. Vicki and her relationship with the other hunters was stilted yet she states she works a lot with one of them and they have to rely on each other. The storyline, while different for the usual ones I read in UF, didn't have enough details and action for me. The ending was also less than satisfying, being a quasi-cliff hanger because we and Vicki don't get the details we hoped for. perhaps that's to be further explored in future Graves Files. If I were Vicki though, I would have felt gutted (I watch far too much British tv) and there wasn't that feeling.
I would be inclined to give Graves Files Case 2 a read, but I'd probably check to see if it was a full length novel and more likely to be satisfying for me.

The hunters make sure the supernatural world is kept out of the human world and they stop the bad guys. Vicki Graves joined the hunters after losing her brother and mother while on a camping trip. She is surprised when the head of the hunters, Joy, sends her out on an assignment with Chase and Scott. And then gets an even bigger surprise when the job is in the same town where she lost her family. Is Graves ready to fight what is at the lake? Graves is hardened by life. She is always willing to take whatever chances are necessary to finish the job. The author does a good job creating a flawed character who is fighting her demons. Graves does her job and she does it well even if she is sometimes reckless. Her backstory is solid and used well to explain her attitude, personality and actions. The idea that her father survived but checked out after the loss is sad and adds to the story of Graves being tough. Chase and Scott are seasoned hunters with a lot of knowledge Graves lacks. They are not her side kicks but characters whose backgrounds and motivations haven’t been fleshed out yet. I enjoyed the little bit of snarky dialog in the book. I like how the three of them figured out who the bad guy was and how they stopped the bad guy. This story is a supernatural story. This is not a romance. This is a fast read. I will definitely read more from this author in the future.
This book was a fun, exciting read! Vicki Graves is a supernatural hunter, fighting off vampires, werewolves and other creatures, when a new case emerges. One which is sure to bring back a lot of painful memories for her.
Two men have turned up dead, drained of their blood with a strange white handprint on their chests, but it doesn't look like a vampire killing. Vicki, along with her two partners Chase and Scott go back to a town from Vicki's childhood to investigate and possibly give her some answers along the way.
I really enjoyed the mystery of the murders and how the gang solved it - it definitely wasn't an easy quick fix! Vicki was a great character - she was tough, took no rubbish from anyone and definitely stood up for herself, but there was a little lost girl hidden inside that she didn't want to let loose and gave her a little bit of vulnerability that made her much more relatable.
Looking forward to reading more about these characters.
I received a copy of this book through BookSprout but this review is all my own!
***1/2 stars- Vicky is a hunter. She hunts supernatural creatures. She is sent on a case to a town where murders have occurred. This is the same town her mother and brother disappeared. She arrives with Scott and Chase who she has partnered with on many assignments. They must figure out if these murders are caused by supernaturals or humans. The story was slow in getting me interested in the plot. It does get better with some action. Vicky, Chase, and Scott have some interesting banter. All three know each other well and you can feel it in their camaraderie. They enjoy messing with each other. This gives you some entertaining interactions between the three of them. Overall the story was good. I am interested in reading the next book if the author continues the series. I see lots of potential. Really enjoyed this one! Supernatural hunter, Vicki finds out some information that may lead to solving the mystery of her missing mom and twin brother. Along for the adventure is two fellow hunters, Scott and Chase. She’s rough around the edges, kicks some butt, and has plenty of sass. There’s edges of a humorous tone to the story that I enjoyed. The story feels a touch like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys with supernatural elements. There’s not romance in this one; if you’re into that type of thing, which I am, but I’m okay with it here. I didn’t really care for either Scott or Chase; too frat boy mentality for these two; they’re more like brothers. I’m hoping something won’t be developing in the future; I’m not feeling any romantic vibes. Loved all the cool action and supernatural elements! Plus, there’s a bit of interesting mystery going on! This one has a satisfying ending, but there’s more mystery for Vicki. Excited for the next one!
This was an interesting short read that totally gripped me into Vicki's world, although it felt too quick in places and with some unmemorable scenes that didn't connect with me.
I was hoping for more characterisation to understand and relate to the characters, and I did find a few typos/mistakes that totally hindered my reading experience (as an editor, I easily pick these out when reading).
Pushing all that aside, it's a great start to this series as we read about Vicki, Scott, and Chase following a lead to a small town where her mother and brother disappeared, and I am more than a little intrigued in reading the rest of the series, as I want to know what happens next.
Addicting and enthralling from the get-go, but isn't quite as memorable - I'll probably need to re-read before I read the second book.
I really enjoyed this book! Graves Files: Case One is a fast-paced and atmospheric paranormal mystery that pulls you in from the very first pages. The story blends investigation, dark secrets, and supernatural elements in a way that feels both engaging and easy to follow. I really liked how the mystery unfolds gradually, keeping you guessing while revealing just enough to stay hooked. The main character is compelling, and the dynamic between characters adds depth and tension to the investigation. The tone is dark without being overwhelming, and the world-building is subtle but effective, making the supernatural feel like a natural part of the story.
Overall, it’s a great introduction to the series and left me eager to continue with the next case!.

Buckle your seatbelts because you're in for another wild ride with supernatural hunter Vicki Graves! I'm a huge fan of Ms. Atkinson and love that she writes strong but damaged females in her stories. This is the case with Vicki as she teams up with supernatural hunters Chase and Scott to go back to the small town where both her mother and brother disappeared. She's swamped with bad memories of that time when she was a vulnerable 11 year old and she works hard to ferret out the clues to solve the current day disappearances that mimic her family disappearances. Are those 2 events connected? There's some kick-ass fight scenes and enough twists and turns to keep you reading to the last page. There's a bit of a cliff-hanger at the end and it makes me want to dive into book 2.
Our heroine is a demon hunter, but the thing she really wants are some clues to her past. Be careful what you wish for.
This is book one of the series. A good place to start.
This is an urban fantasy story with a very dirty and gritty feel to it. The story is intriguing and quick paced, with an enjoyable storyline and a fascinating setting. The characters are also nicely done and I particularly like our heroine who has a bit of spunk and some definite snark. There is a lot of action in this one, as well as several twists and turns that keep things interesting. Overall, I enjoyed this book quite a bit and look forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommended.

Wow, great first book in the series. Thea Atkinson mixes magical realism with old world myths to craft a paranormal FBI thriller novel. Graves lost her twin brother and mother years ago after hearing a plaintive cry in the night. It molds her into the woman who hunts creatures that go bump in the night. Along with her 2 fellow agents Scott & Chase she’s back in the town where it all began. Excellent crafting of myth and legends into a current reality. Wish the characters had been more fleshed out ( hopefully that will come as the series continues ), but the storyline was well written with few typos. 4✨’s for what is shaping up to be a very interesting series.

Vicki Graves is a hard-headed vampire hunter who gives no quarter and asks for none. She is thrown for a bit of a loop, though, when she sets off with two fellow hunters to investigate suspicious deaths in the town near where her mother and brother disappeared when she was a child. She is sure the current problem has nothing to do with her family members' disappearances, but the feelings the town brings back are still unpleasant. Ghosts, witches, and a banshee await her, Chase, and Scott. And maybe, just maybe, she will finally get some answers to her questions about what happened all those years ago.
I was given an advanced copy of by Booksprout. My review is voluntary.
Great start to this paranormal / urban fantasy series. The series starts out with Vicki Graves, a snarky demon hunter, who gets herself into a precarious situation. Two fellow demon hunters drag her along on a new case that has ties to her past. Chase and Scott are interesting companions to her on this journey. I really curious to see where this series goes. There is lots of action, a mystery to be solved and lots of unanswered questions for the upcoming books. No romance in this one but maybe that will change (fingers crossed)?
