Christmas, 1921 Victrolas, flappers, and a rooming house where two lonely people live. Good thing for them that Mrs. Klaussen, their landlady, has Christmas magic at her fingertips. Del Peale and Josephine Withers have both loved and lost. That is why neither has pursued their mutual attraction. A newborn left on the front steps brings them together. A cold house forces Del to face the home he shared with his wife and son. Is it enough to let them see that love is still possible if they share that love? Will strange twists and an abandoned baby be enough to lead them to a Christmas wedding? Perhaps Mrs. Klaussen will need to step in with a miracle and a very special Christmas ornament?
The Ornamental Match Maker Series is a delightful holiday series - part romance, part mystery, and part history. I enjoy reading the descriptions of the unique ornaments and the intrigue of how each character receives the unique ornament that inspires the romance and story. Stories are well developed with unique characters, page turning twists and turns, elements of surprise, and a believable resolution. Enjoyed the 1920 setting, the name of the baby, and Mrs. Claus involvement in the plot. Well done Marisa Masterson.
Another intriguing book in the Ornamental Matchmaker series! This one involves mystery and a newborn baby! The characters grabbed me and I read it in one sitting. Del, a man troubled by the loss of his wife and child is suddenly pulled into a beautiful Christmas story. Josephine, a woman of 30 years has devoted her life to teaching after losing her fiance to a war, is pulled into the story along with Del. Will the arrival of "Peaches" on the doorstep of their boarding house bring these two together? Will she help them realize that they long for each other and the happiness of a family? This book is beautifully written and I just know you are going to enjoy what Mr. and Mrs. Klaussen have in store for you! I received an ARC of this story and am choosing to leave an honest review.
This is the first of the Ornamental Match Maker Series books I’ve read, and I enjoyed it immensely. Like nothing I’ve read before, the story centers on the “magic of Christmas.” I liked that this was a historical story, set in 1921, rather than a contemporary. It made for simpler times. The story moves quickly, but not unrealistically considering that there’s an orphaned baby and a snow storm. I liked the two characters, and appreciated they were older/more mature. There are several coincidences, but they work within the story making for a sweet, feel-good plot line. A wonderful story no matter what time of year.
Beautiful Christmas story that will leave you with hope and Joy.
What a wonderful Christmas story with such hope, an abandoned baby, two lives thrown together to take of this new baby and amazing love that comes of two lonely people who choose to take care of the babe. This so wonderful story brings magic to this special holiday and sort of reminds me of our saviors birth. I loved it and I believe you will too. Get this story that will lighten your heart and bring joy and hope to your Christmas celebration.
Del and Josephine live in a boarding house run by Mr and Mrs Klaussen. They have both loved and lost and although there is some mutual attraction they have not taken this any further. Just before Christmas they are left alone in the house when a baby is abandoned on the doorstep and they have to take it in. I have always enjoyed stories in this Ornamental Match Maker Series and this is no exception. With that hint of magic, hope and a touch of faith they are unashamedly feel - good stories and make you feel so much better when you are feeling down in these troubles times.
Oh, I loved this story! I especially liked how both Del and Josephine were already attracted to each other, and just needed a good shove to get them together. Love that the "shove" came in the form of Peaches! This is a great Christmas story! God works in mysterious ways! Love, too, that we find out why Peaches was left for Josephine to find.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Christmas, 1921 Victrolas, flappers, and a rooming house where two lonely people live. Mrs. Klaussen, their landlady, gives them Christmas magic. Del Peale and Josephine Withers have neither pursued their mutual attraction. A newborn left on the front steps brings them together.
A baby. Two lonely people. Christmas. The perfect season for magic. I've loved this series. Warm story with a dash of mystery. The reveal of where the baby came from-surprising. Great read.
Oh! This is the perfect, feel good, heartwarming Christmas romance! Del and Josie are both so lost in their grief and their repetitive, boring lives that they have forgotten they should be living, not merely surviving. Never fear! Mrs Claus, one special delivery and a healthy helping of Christmas magic later and Del and Josie are reminded of everything they could have...if they are brave enough to reach out and grab it with both hands!
Del and Josephine are boarders of Mr and Mrs Klaussen. Both had lost their first loves. They secretly like each other, but because of being afraid to love again, they never let the other one know. When a baby is dropped off right before a blizzard they have to work together to keep the baby alive. With the help of Christmas magic they are able to overcome their pasts, and move on to their HEA.
Del and Josephine are attracted to each other but they have both lost their first love and are scared to start over. When they find a baby on the front door they have to work together to keep it alive. Some strange things happen to steer them in the right direction. And it all started with a ornament. Fun, sweet story with very lovable characters.
Del- foreman at the cannery and a widower Josephine- worked as a teacher and volunteer director for children's play. I enjoyed reading this intriguing story that is well written with lovable characters and witty sub characters. Their story has a wonderfully sweet HEA.
Two individuals both having experienced a tragedy and needing healing. A tiny abandoned baby needing love and care. Mrs. Claus and 🎅once again set the stage to bring the couple together in a beautiful love story.
Strangers yet interested in each other and a true Christmas miracle. They both grieve and hide from the world yet have a dream of family. A little fantasy and a lot of faith lead to the adventure of the story.
Perfect book to sit by the fire and read while the snow blows outside! Or anytime, like me! Warm characters, great storyline. Wonderful addition to this series.
I love this Christmas series and I really enjoyed Del and Josephine's story. A heartwarming second chance Christmas romance. A sweet read that left me with a smile.
