Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

This sequel to The Assignment takes place one year after the 1st book ended. Valenti and O'Brian are still together but in the closet, which is OK considering this story takes place in the early 1980s. I read this quickie because I was disappointed with the ways things ended in the 1st book and I wanted to get a better grip on O'Brian's feelings. Well, I'm still disappointed... I still believe Valenti loves O'Brian more than he's loved in return. Plus, they really need to work on their communication skills. :(

Detectives Sean O'Brian and Nick Valenti have become lovers after their awesome assignment in the gay club RamJack where they pretended to be a gay couple to infiltrate a drug ring (The Assignment).

One year later, Nick is withdrawing and Sean wants to know why. Doesn't he love him anymore?
What's better for winning your lover back than kidnapping him and chaining him to your bed, right?
The ensuing sex scene is almost the entire plot of this short story.

It's hot for sure, but a little more plot would not have been a bad thing.

Detectives Nick Valenti and Sean O'Brian have spent a year together, after what happen in The Assignment. They love each other but in the '80 years their love is a secret. Suddenly Valenti is forced to a desk job and another partner goes patrol with O'Brien... and also their relationship seems to take apart the two. But O'Brien doesn't want to loss his partner, his friend, his lover and he will not stop in front of nothing to convince Valenti.

The setting in the '80 years, gives to this story a different perspective from the other M/M stories I read. Here Valenti and O'Brien love each other, but can't demonstrate their feelings openly. So their love is much more exclusive, they share a strongest link. It is also interesting to read how they approach their feelings, they are not gay (don't have interest in other males), they love each other.

And the sex is hot, and also a dirty vocal sex!

A short sexy story set just before Christmas finds Nick Valenti & Sean O'Brian approximately one year after their assignment at the RamJack resort which means a year after the happily ever after at the end of The Assignment. After a year of what seems to be bliss, Valenti is on desk duty and O'Brian is being pushed away, but he has no idea why. After almost a month of no contact O'Brian is desperate and deperate times call for desperate measures.

This story is told from O'Brian's POV which is a change from The Assignment. And the reasons Valenti gives for pulling away seem counterintuitive, it does give a reason for sexy police officer sex, so who is complaining? Not me.

Valenti and O'brien from The Assignment pair up in this Christmas-y themed short. I enjoy the chemistry Nick Valenti and Sean O'brien share. Nick being tall, dark and dominate. Sean being the smaller of the two, but can take down a crook twice his size no problem.

Sean's only concern is finding out why Nick isn't giving him access to his gorgeous body, for over a month. Things do heat up when Sean handcuffs Nick to the bed and demands answers. I love Sean's 'handy' techniques.

So I am ga-ga over these two and probably won't ever see them as anything but prime A grade A red hot.

This short story takes place exactly one year after "the assignment". It is the one year anniversary for Valenti and O' Brian . The two of them are still hiding their relationship and especially Valenti seems to push away his lover and partner. After one month being kept away O' Brian is desperate to have him back.
The chemistry between this two is great, the erotic scene between them where there clear things is funny and sweet. It is still early eighties and it is hard for them to accept the fact they are gay. "What do you think anyway? That I am gay?" asks O' Brian adding "I don't consider myself gay, babe. I am just in love with you."

After reading this I thought, "Maybe I should go back and read the first one again because I thought it was better than this." Only, what if it isn't better? What if all the great, well-written books I've read recently make me look at this less favorably and I have to re-rate it lower? So, yeah, no. I'm happy to wallow in the rose-tinted memories I have of this couple and call this coda a one-off that didn't happen. (Like that "third" so-called X-Men movie that I refuse to acknowledge.)

This is a short story following the couple from The Assignment. It is a Holiday story and the focus is on rekindling their relationship and getting over insecurities they face. It was a really sweet story and a great followup to The Assignment.

Quick, short read. I really enjoyed the first book in the series but it's been a while since I read it. I wanted to know why Valenti was acting so funny with O'Brien. His reason was pretty stupid but the sex was hot. Didn't get much of a Christmasy feel from this.

This is basically just a short story that follows after the main book about how Valenti and O'Brian spent their first Christmas together as a couple.
I'm rating this purely as a erotica because that's that 90% of the book is, and it deserves a five star in my opinion!

Valenti and O'Brien are back in a scorching little Christmas interlude that'll have you sweating it out on a cold Winter night.

Summary: It’s a year after their assignment at the RamJack where they first confessed their feelings for each other and Valenti and O’Brian have been sharing an exclusive and white-hot relationship when Valenti suddenly pulls away. Understandably upset, O’Brian is determined to find out why his partner/lover is giving him the cold shoulder on Christmas, even if it means handcuffing Valenti to the bed to get the truth out of him!

Publisher’s Note: This is a male-male love story and contains homoerotic sex acts that may be offensive to some readers.

What I liked about this read: O'Brien is too much fun for words and Evangeline Anderson writes him so vividly that you can see his emotions as easily as they likely show on his face. I love their banter and I have to say I've grown a rather soft spot for O'Brien. He's a hot-headed, red-head with a heart of gold.

I like it when characters have a happily ever after and we're given glimpses into that future. Relationships are always hard work and they're even harder to work at when you're not exactly "gay", just in love with your best friend.

Excerpt: “Look, what is this all about?” he demanded for what felt like the fiftieth time. “And don’t just tell me it’s urgent ‑‑ I want to know where the hell we’re going and what’s going on.”

“I’ll tell you what’s going on.” O’Brian pushed his surprised partner up against the side of the car and grabbed both his arms. Before Valenti knew what was happening, O’Brian had whipped out his silver police issue cuffs and had them fitted snugly around his partner’s wrists.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Valenti stared down at his cuffed wrists in amazement. “Have you gone crazy?”

“You could say that,” O’Brian said grimly. “Crazy or horny, one of the two. Either way, you’re comin’ with me.”

“I am not.” Valenti rattled the cuffs threateningly. “Get me out of these and let me go back to the benefit.”

“Nope.” O’Brian whipped a black bandana out of his hip pocket. Before Valenti could protest, he was blindfolded and in the front seat of the Cordoba, his hands folded neatly in his lap. O’Brian smiled as he shut the door on his dumbfounded partner. Nobody was better at “cuff ‘em and stuff ‘em” than he was ‑‑ Valenti ought to know that by now. But his partner had other things on his mind than O’Brian’s law enforcement prowess at the moment ‑‑ like escape.

“You let me out of here right now,” he snarled as O’Brian started the engine. “Or I swear to God ‑‑”

“Nick,” O’Brian interrupted him gently. “Do I hafta gag you too?”

“I ‑‑” Valenti began but O’Brian reached over and cupped his partner’s strong chin in one hand, tracing Valenti’s full mouth with his thumb.

“Don’t make me do it, Nick,” he murmured. “Not when I can think of so many better ways to use that beautiful mouth.”

This is a sequel to The Assignment, a sort of double GFY story in which two straight cops fall in love during an undercover assignment in a gay resort. I didn't much like The Assignment -- it felt kind of like a poorly written ripoff of Fish & Chips, even though I think The Assignment was published first -- but this short sequel wasn't too bad.

The timing of this story is just before Christmas. Nick Valenti has been pulling away from his partner Sean O'Brian, ever since being stuck at a desk during an IA investigation of a shooting incident. O'Brian finally gets tired of repeatedly trying unsuccessfully to talk to Valenti about the problem, so he finally kidnaps Valenti and gives him an "early Christmas present" of handcuffing him to a bed and fucking him senseless til he talks. Oooooooookay. ;-)

Don't get me wrong here -- there is nothing truly coercive or non-con about this. Valenti is startled and taken aback, but he is certainly willing to go along once he's stuck in the situation. The sex is so-so for me -- I felt the dialogue was clunky, and I have never really felt the chemistry between these two. Mostly this "story" is just another excuse for a sex scene, but the setup and kidnapping were cute enough to keep me entertained for a few minutes.

In this 2nd book we see again O'Brian and Valenti and how their relationship is progressing. Is almost an year since they become lovers and O'Brian feels that Valenti is becoming cold towards him. O'Brian decides to make his lover tell him what is happening and to make it possible he decides that the best way is to handcuff Valenti to their bed. Is their anniversary and O'Brian wants his gift, it's a month since they had sex together and today this has to stop.
The scene was funny but the story is really short and the rating cant be too high in my opinion.
In the end we find out that Valenti was jealous of O'Brian new partner, a kid he has to mentor while Valenti is doing desk's work.
Sean tells him that he would never do something like this with another man and that he will never want another and he still loves Valenti. Valenti understands that he is an idiot and that their feelings are still mutual.

I do like the book, but I don't really like when they have so much of "sex talk"! I mean once in a while, it's fine, but when you have too much, i'll think isn't it too slutty?

And I'm still not used to that Valenti is the one who's getting fucked.... It make me confused... Will they constantly change role (the role get fuck or fuck)!? I sure wish not!!

But other that that, the book is fine! Not as good as the first one, but good enough! And the reason that I think the first one is better, it's just because I always love when someone just found out that he loves his best-friend and then he will fight it just for not ruining their friendship!
Always a fan of forbidden love! But that has to stay in the world of fantasy! I'm okay with guy/guy relationship, but not brother/brother, sister/brother, father/daughter, etc!

I bought this book because I was interested in seeing how Valenti and O’Brian were doing one year into their relationship. The teaser sounded interesting but this book was a disappointment. For one thing, it's VERY SHORT. I think I read it in less than an hour. It was way too short for the price I paid. Secondly, the story episode was basically due to a lack of communication, which O'Brian remedied straight away. We are eventually told why Valenti is giving O'Brian the cold shoulder but there is no basis for why he feels the way he does. This story wasn't even half-baked.

Bottom line: a disappointing read that's not worth the price of admission.

A revisiting of O'Brian and Valenti, from The Assignment. It has been one year since the couple's time at the RamJack and things seem to be going badly. But O'Brian is determined to keep his man.

Short but sweet and very nice to see things from O'Brian's point of view.

Another quick read. I finished it on my way home from work. It was ok but, more than anything else, it seemed like an excuse to write a sex scene.
And Nick keeps getting on my nerves with his childish conclusions and his inability to think straight. Is he fifteen or something?
I'm gonna try the third one. If it's a another repeat of the same story it'll be some time before I read Evangeline Anderson again.

Glad to have the POV of O'Brian, the story is funny and it's a pretext for a sex scene.Glad to hear that o'brian think he makes most of the job last year in Frisco because I felt that when I read the first book.Valenti is as the first book a little stupid because he don't believe in o'brian 'feelings.

It was nice to see the guys a year later although the constant references to the RamJack and their assignment seemed a little much. I can understand the initial reference in case the reader hasn't read the prior book, but this seemed a little extreme.
However, the guys were great and still super hot!

I'll Be Hot for Christmas was a surprisingly good little follow-up to The Assignment. It was hot, yes, but we got to see more of Valenti and O'Brian's relationship and soe of the problems they had, but it didn't fuck up the HEA.

I liked it. On the other hand, the reason for Nick's distance was stupid. It didn't hold at all, but I went along with the idea, because I love Anderson and everything she does. That said, it was enjoyable anyway.
