Gwendolyn Whitley was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. The daughter of a shipping titan, she’s never wanted for anything until her father dies and she finds out he only left her with a pile of debt. Now, she has no other option but to find a job to support herself. She remembers her friend, Nadine, wrote to her about her new life as a Pinkerton Agent. Gwendolyn wonders if she could be one, too?
Bradley Holmes isn’t sure he likes he idea of being put in charge of training one of the new recruits, let alone a woman. He’s used to being only responsible for himself, but he has to train her to progress his career. When he finds out she’s a spoiled socialite who hasn’t worked a day in her life, he’s not sure what he’s going to do with her—especially when he has to marry her for propriety’s sake.
Will Gwendolyn be able to prove herself a capable agent? Can Bradley learn to get along with Gwendolyn? And will they decide their marriage of convenience can be something more?

So happy to read another Pinkerton Matchmaker story and with the fabulous Jenna Brandt's writing I knew it would be wonderful!! This time we have Gwendolyn whose life changed quickly when her wealthy father passed away. She finds herself destitute, oh yes after being the center of high society in Boston. Luckily as she was packing what little she had, she came across a letter from Nadine, a friend from school who had become a Pinkerton agent out west and how her life was an adventure. Why not? She had little choices to take! So taking her beloved cocker spaniel Reginald, she set out. Bradley Holmes was not happy to have to take on a new recruit and marry her to boot. The Pinkerton's had been operating this way for awhile and now it was his turn. To move forward, he agree to do it. Such fun fast paced story that did not stop until the end! Gwendolyn is determined and Bradley is in for a lot of surprises! Danger, thiefs, humor, a feisty dog and a journey to finding love when least expected!
Each one of these Pinkerton books is a delight to read! It's so fun to see the two agents paired up in a marriage of convenience that turns into so much more. The "rules" of the Pinkerton Agency stated that a male agent and a female agent had to enter into a marriage as they worked on a case for the sake of propriety and then it would be annulled afterwards. Usually when the couple first meet, they don't have even like each other and it's always interesting to see how the "tables are turned"! The hero is usually the seasoned agent and really resents having to work with the female, doesn't see a need to now have female agents but they quickly come to see that they have gifts that the males don't have. Such is the case in this story. Gwendolyn was a very wealthy lady from the East coast but when her father dies, she is destitute so she signs up to be a Pinkerton agent and is paired with Bradley in Texas who chafes at the idea of a partner. They have to find some cattle rustlers and go undercover to find them as a married couple. There is danger and action and it's fun to see the two of them adjusting to being together! I really enjoyed this book!
The rules of The Pinkerton Agency insist that a lady wanting to train and join must be married to the agent training her and so Gwendolyn and Bradley are quickly married before they set off on a mission to find out who is behind the cattle rustling. I am enjoying this series where a marriage of convenience turns into warm and trusting love between two people who know very little, if anything, about each other at the start of their relationship. They also help each other in the solving of a crime. I loved the characters, the budding love and trust, the twists and turns, the happy outcome and this story, out of all of Jenna Brandt's books, is my new favorite. I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the book and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it.
This is the first book in the Pinkerton Matchmaker Series that I have read and I thought it was pretty entertaining. I have always thought the Pinkerton Agency was an interesting thing so it was neat to read about what it would have been like for a women who was recruited. I loved the romance between Gwendolyn and Bradley. I loved how they couldn’t stand each other at first but as they came to know each other they realized that they were a good match. I also loved the exciting adventure that they had to go on to bring in the cattle rustlers. I thought it was a fun book and I am curious to read other books in this series.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
Another wonderful book in the Pinkerton Matchmaker Series. Gwendolyn is left penniless when her wealthy father passes away leaving her with a pile of debts so she does the only thing she can think of so she leaves Boston and becomes a Pinkerton Agent like her friend Nadine. She and Bradley will have to marry as he trains her and once their case of catching cattle thief's is over they can get the marriage annulled. They are different as night and day but as they work they case they find out some surprising things about each other that they did not know which only drew them closer to each other. Loved this sweet romance with some twists and turns and Bradley and Gwendolyn were just perfect for each other.
Jenna never disappoints. She has come thru with an excellent story one more time.Gwendolyn was society's darling, until her father died and left her destitute.Since she knew about female Pinkerton agents from her friend, Nadine, she decided to give it a try herself. Bradley had been a Pinkerton agent for 5 years, and was considered one of their best. And, he wanted to continue and maybe head an office of his own. He was very disgruntled when he was told he had to partner with a female agent, and marry her for a year, or he couldn't advance. A very beautiful young lady, an adorable dog, a rattlesnake, and cattle rustlers make for a very exiting story. 5 Stars
If you’re looking for a light quick read An Agent for Gwendolyn is a great choice. Jenna Brandt does a good job with character development in a short book. The clean romance quickly develops between the main characters while the reader learns a little more about the workings of the Pinkerton Agency. An Agent for Gwendolyn is part of The Pinkerton Matchmaker Series. I look forward to reading more books in this series. An Agent for Gwendolyn would be an acceptable book for a K-12 Christian school library. I received a complimentary e-copy of An Agent for Gwendolyn. This is my honest review.
"His Pinkerton wife" It is bad enough he has to train a female oh no she is a spoiled socialite and he has to marry her. This is what Bradley Holmes's reality now is. Becoming an agent was a matter of survival for Gwendolyn Whitley. This quick story has a great deal of action and danger so be prepared you will get completely lost in the book. I enjoyed the book a great deal I think Jenna Brandt has a winner on her hands. I highly recommend this gem. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
In this case I would have to side with Bradley when he first met Gwendolyn, she had no skills to be a Pinkerton agent. I do admire her feisty attitude and as it turns out her observation skills. She does have a tendency to get into trouble, usually through no true fault of her own. Jenna Brandt brings some interesting characters to this book and the villain did not turn out to be the person I first suspected. Luckily for Gwendolyn, Bradley’s ambition refuses to let him give anything but his best in training her. A totally enjoyable book.
Bradley is a seasoned Pinkerton agent and he is being told if he wants to advance his career he needed to take a lady Pinkerton as a wife. The Pinkerton’s place an advertisement and Gwendolyn answer and is accepted. She is from a once wealthy Boston family. He father , now deceased, gambled and drank himself to death leaving her with only debt and no society future. Bradley and Gwendolyn and he spoiled pup board the train for a cattle rustling case out west. You will enjoy discovering how they find their the rustlers and their happily ever after.
Sweet story about Gwendolyn who is a young woman whose wealthy father lost everything gambling before he died leaving behind huge debts to be paid. She hires on with the Pinkerton Agency. In order to be trained she must marry her partner, Bradley. Bradley is a loner and reluctantly agrees to wed and train Gwendolyn only because he wants to further his advancement in the Agency. Their first mission is to locate and apprehend cattle rustlers. Will they be able to succeed in their task without falling in love with each other?
Another wonderful Pinkerton story. I love that they are accepting women as agents. The fact that they have to marry their instructor is a dilemma if they don't get along but luckily for Gwen & Bradley, they do, after a while. There is romance, danger, humor, and some good ole cattle rustling. What more could you ask for? I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I enjoyed these characters so much. Gwendolyn and Bradley were so different. Gwendolyn a now impoverished debutante and Bradley a no nonsense Pinkerton agent marry for agency propriety in order to work together. They will come to find they are not so compatible and Gwendolyn surprises Bradley as he trains her to be an agent. But danger abounds that can disrupt their growing love. Review of complimentary copy.
From debutant to agent. Gwendolyn has always led a life of privilege until her father dies and she discovers that he's gambled away his fortune and she's left with nothing. She answers an add for a Pinkerton Agent and heads to her new life with her companion dog. I've read a number of these Pinkerton books by various authors and this was one of the most unusual. I enjoyed the book and recommend it for a fun quick read.
Book 65 of the Pinkerton Matchmaker series. Rich girl Gwendolyn has lost everything, with the death of her father. He leaves her with nothing. A friend became a Pinkerton agent. Why couldn't Gwendolyn be one, too? Along with her dog, she teams up with Bradley. Off to Texas they work on a case of cattle stealing. Will they endure, grow and stay together? Love this series and hope to read every one.
When Gwendolyn’s father dies and she finds out she is penniless and no longer a socialite in Boston, she makes a life-changing decision. She leaves Boston and heads west to become a Pinkerton agent. One of the stipulations of becoming an agent: she must marry a Pinkerton agent in order to be trained. Neither Gwendolyn nor Bradley are happy with the arrangement but manage to team up for a new assignment.
This book is full of adventure, suspense, drama and romance. It hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. Come meet Gwendolyn, and Bradley and get ready for an adventure when they go after a gang of cattle rustlers. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
When Gwendolyn loses everything when her father dies, she decided to be like her friend Nadine and join the Pinkerton agency. Bradley is a seasoned agent used to working independently. Can they get over their social/personal differences to solve the case and get an annulment, or will they find true love when it's over?
Great characters that keep you pulled into the story. I enjoyed the growing romance along with the danger of the rustlers. Bradley is such a strong and capable man for any job, especially a Pinkerton agent. Such a great plot, love able characters and a protective dog all making this a fun story! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
A woman Pinkerton agent - BUT she has to marry the man who is training her. She comes from a very wealthy family, now dead - money all gone. And the LAST thing he wants is to get married. PERIOD!! How on earth can this ever turn into something good for either of them??
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Cute story. Both the main leads are stubborn and bring out the snippy in each other, until they calm down and actually communicate. The suspense is minor since it's not the focus of the story. There is a pleasing HEA.
A stubborn woman and a stubborn man. In Texas no less. And one year, not one case. But all the elements of a strong Pinkerton story, rustlers, cattle, the range and a dog who's not a working dog
I enjoyed reading Gwendolyn and Bradley's story on their Pinkerton journey. Sparks may have flew at the beginning from their mutual dislike, but time and close quarters helped to guide their marriage of convenience down a different path. A great read.
As an agent ,life could get easier. A job and man with an adventure thrown into the mixture. Sent to a small town in Texas, to find the cattle rustlers and solving the case with an added bonus to finding love.
Loved getting to read Gwendolyn and Bradley's story. I was able to read this in one sitting. If you like clean stories with intrigue in the mix, I highly recommend 'An Agent for Gwendolyn '. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
I totally enjoyed this book. A spoiled young woman who has no clue what work is and a young man who has high aspirations with his career. No two people could be less suited to work together and work together they will! Very enjoyable!
Bradley and Gwendolyn are an unlikely pair. But, as it turns out, both are reasonable. Gwendolyn is certainly feisty. And it seems that’s exactly what Bradley needs. Jenna Brandt has written an exciting and interesting tale.
Poor Gwendolyn! She's lost all her money and friends and now she has to figure a way to support herself. What better way ten becoming a Pinkerton agent?! She married Bradley and let the Adventure begin!!
This was the first time I have read a story about women marrying a Pinkerton agent in order to train for the job. It was a short but sweet story for a lazy afternoon or evening.
