Opposites attract!

But Maggie and Cloud are perfect for each other.... if only Cloud can get past his misconceptions.
I love Maggie's sass, she knows exactly when to keep it under wraps and exactly when to let the sass out...she is awesome!
A great addition to the series, which I read on Kindle Unlimited.

It's been awhile since I've been in this series, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it!
This one had a few comical moments and a few edge of your seat instances. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

It was a decent audio book, until the epilogue. We don't need to know about the preferences of a random Prince Sebastian who plays for the same team.

Maggie joins the Pinkerton Agency and is paired with the last guy she would have wanted. Cloud (nickname referencing his eyes that doesn't seem to be something the heroine really even notices that much..) assumes she's wealthy and snobby based on her clothes and posture and fights hard to not get saddled with her. But Archie won't let him keep his job unless he marries a new recruit. So off they head for Texas.
Arriving in San Antonio, they pose as Princess Magdala of Bayergovenia and the Duke of Montpelier in an effort to track down jewel thieves at the Menger Hotel.
I really liked the San Antonio setting in this story. The story of the Alamo intrigues me and it was nice to have the author blend a bit of the history into Magdala's story.
I don't really know that a Princess would be eating from street vendors, but it worked for the story. Cloud was really upset at having to go on the case with Magdala but he just seemed pout-y and complain-y. Otherwise, the story was pretty good. Not a favourite, but still good - especially if you like reading about San Antonio or the Alamo. A clean, sweet romance.

Another one of Caroline’s wonderful stories of seeing beyond the surface. Magdala has a problem. And she takes it to the Pinkerton Agency. But she really didn’t expect to have to marry an agent to be a part of the solution. She sees a very handsome man at the agency who seems to do nothing but laugh at her with another agent. The nerve of those men. They don’t even know her. Cloud, one of the men laughing at her standing in the doorway knows what kind of woman she is and wants nothing to do with her. Well readers, this is where the fun starts. There are a lot of chuckles and outright laughs while I read how these two work together, miscommunication and plain muddy the waters with their preconceived notions. But alas, they do start to figure out how to trust each other and fireworks start again of a whole different kind. Oh my, but this really is a must read. It is clean and sweet with humor. And near the end there are some wonderful and funny twists. I have been enjoying all the Pinkertons agent stories and this is no exception.

Princess of his heart.

From the time he set eyes on her, Douglas "Cloud" Ryan pegged Magdala aka Maggie Harper as snooty. But when he's paired with her as the Duke of Montpelier, he comes to admire and eventually love Princess Magdala of Bayergovenia. Maggie's kindness to all and her keen observation make this Pinkerton couple stand out as they seek to find some clever jewel thieves.

Caroline Clemmons has written about one of my favorite cities, San Antonio. I have eaten at the Menger Hotel many times and the food is as good as described. From the description I felt like I had been transported to 1871 San Antonio. I wanted to eat at the street vendors. I loved her characters. Cloud and Maggie were total opposites and yet together they made an unbeatable pair. This might be one of my favorite Pinkerton Matchmaker books.

She has always wanted a bit of adventure so she grabbed the chance with Pinkerton; he has been an agent for quite some time; and, together they became the duo assigned to track jewel robbers. There is a lot of story-line; there is action; and, there is a touch of romance. I admit that I laughed out loud a couple times and totally enjoyed the “to catch a thief” activities. Thanks for a great day of reading as part of the celebration of my birthday. Loved it!

Wonderful Story.

Cloud and Maggie had a hard case, trying to solve a Jewelry heist, all the people they were watching didn't seem like they were guilty. But sometimes things are different than they seem. They caught the thiefs, and solved the case, and fell in Love. Thank you Caroline Clemmons.

Headlines

The story is fast paced, easy to follow. The idea of a female Pinkerton detective is unique. While it is an enjoyable read, the relationship between Magdala and Cloud happened too fast.
