Nadine Bradford's brother has turned her out, claiming he can't afford to take care of the bookworm spinster a moment longer now that he's married and has a family of his own. With nothing left to lose, Nadine applies to become a Pinkerton Agent. The only problem, they expect her to marry a man to work her first case.
Josiah Bell is a seasoned agent, and he's avoided the preposterous marriages that have been thrust on his fellow agents lately. He's not the marrying sort, and has even less patience to have to put up with a needy woman, even if it is for a case. But when his friend is killed and the only way to solve the crime is by accepting Nadine as his wife, Josiah gives in to find vengeance.
What happens when they both realize that their relationship could be more than just a short-lived partnership? Will they decide a real marriage is worth the risk? And will Josiah be able to avenge his friend's murder in time to keep it from happening to anyone else?

I am really enjoying these female Pinkerton detective agent stories! Although they are fiction, there really were female Pinkerton agents and they are fascinating to learn what type of cases they worked! I love reading about the type of women that became agents, even if the ones in these books are fiction! Nadine, at first, isn't a strong women. She depends on her brother to take care of her because her parents have died and in those days, women just depended on men to take care of them! However, when her brother marries, the wife doesn't want Nadine around and she gets put out of the house. She doesn't know where to go and hears about Pinkerton agents so decides to become one! She learns how strong she really is! I loved the learning process she went through and then when she had to marry the brother of her first partner who died, that was funny! Josiah didn't want to be married, period! Especially to the woman that let down his brother and let him get killed! However, as they work together to find out who killed his brother, he just might change his mind about Nadine! Such a fun book!
Josiah is a Pinkerton man dedicated to his job. His brother was a Pinkerton too and sadly he was murdered by a ruthless gang of cattle thieves and murders. Nadine was a quiet bookworm and a young woman . Some labeled her a spinster and she was satisfied with the label. She lived with her brother, but her new sister in-law felt she was in her way now and she was forced to leave all she had known. She sees a mail order bride advertisement by the Pinkerton wanting Lady Pinkertons and she hopped on the train west and applied. She was partnered and married to Josiah’s brother only to be widowed shortly there after. She was being reassigned to Josiah, Mark’s brother. Now she is partnered and married to Josiah and they are on a train with a new assignment. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after and their true love.
An Agent for Nadine- (The Pinkerton Matchmaker Book 51)” by Jenna Brandt is a tale of one Nadine Bradford whose brother has thrown her out...now that he has married ...So the intelligent Nadine applies to be a Pinkerton Agent...but she must marry to work her first case....but her first Pinkerton husband is murdered. Can they work together and solve the case ?!? Will they find their own HEA?!? Read and See! Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book
This was a different read with a woman as the partner to a Pinkerton agent. Nadine decided that after her brother married and said he did not want her in his home anymore she had to find something else to do. After reading the newspaper she read an article about Pinkerton's looking for female agents. The rest was history. This was a free book and a good one as well. Thank you Jenna. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
This is an enjoyable, short story. There are sparks between Nadine & Josiah until they realize they really need each other to solve the murder of Josiah's brother.
Loved the story. There was just enough action and suspense to keep the story exciting and enough drama within the relationship to satisfy this romance reader!
ONE ELECTRIFYING EXPERIENCE!!! The heat is on! Jenna comes blazing through shattering the mold, splitting the strings and severing the cord with this block buster, fusing this gem together seamlessly. Amazing scenario's that punch dead center with such intensity and glittering precision, propelling this baby into a tailspin with shocking impacts, blowing this baby wide open. Drama, intrigue, tension, danger and suspense spirals keeping you riveted on a razors edge. All the turmoil and distress along with perplexing situations, thrusts this jewel to a whole new level. The chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable attraction and amplifying affections that catapult this jewel to life beautifully. The characters are authentic, original and realistic with depth and qualities that blend and flow with just enough flaws for diversity. The personalities are well matched and balance play off one another perfectly. The scenes are so graphically detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that feels as though you're right there with them. Fantastic job Jenna, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
Nadine wants to be a Pinkerton Agent badly. She has no other way to survive once her brother and his new wife threw her out. Disaster strikes when she least expects it. Her new husband is murdered... Josiah is summoned in to the Denver office immediately after finishing a case and is confused by this. There he is informed of his brothers death and introduced to a sister in law he wasn't aware he had. His Brothers widow. On top of that he is told they must marry and move on to solve the murder of his brother and bring down the gang responsible! Both carry hurt and anger from their pasts into this new "relationship". Can this even work between them? How can he marry his brothers widow so soon after the death? Will he be able to work with a partner? Can they trust each other to get it done and done right? Personalities clash, stubborn attitudes and trust must all come together to teach them they can move on and move towards each other. Drama, danger and a great adventure await you in this book! I loved every minute of it! I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
Not one but two husband? Nadine and Josiah story was really interesting. Nadine wants to be a Pinkerton agent but she must marry to work a case. Josiah would prefer to stay single but needs to marry so he can work the case and find the killer of his friend. What neither of them expected was that this marriage could lead to a real union for them both. This book was a real pleasure to read great characters, wonderful action, and highly entertaining. This is one of Jenna Brandt books you will love reading over and over again. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I just love the Pinkerton series! Can you imagine being a woman and having that opportunity? A woman who had little choices after her parents died and her brother turned her out after he married, Nadine, goes and applies to be a Pinkerton. Matched with an agent, who she of course was required to marry, all does not go well and he is murdered. Now needing another agent to be paired with she ends up with Josiah, he prior agent husband’s brother! Now they are out to find the killers and the journey begins!!! Loved this story by one of my favorite authors!!
Nadine was forced to leave her home and decided she would be a Pinkerton Agent, she would love to be independent. Josiah loved to be a Pinkerton Agent but now he has to solve a hard case, the killing of his brother. Be forced to work this case together isn’t what either of them want, but it has to be done. Maybe the admiring of each other’s personalities and skills will help them grow closer, or will this be the first annulment? Entertaining story, likable characters. Really enjoyable.
This story moves right along as Josiah and Nadine search for the Wilkins gang. It quickly moves through the days as they investigate and come to know each other. And finally the exciting conclusion as they find the gang but things don’t go the way they plan. They manage to finish their assignment with a little help and quite an adventure. And, of course, the lovely happy ending.
Jenna Brandt has given us a story that has not only romance and danger but the message that we need to forgive those who wrong us. As is usually the case in the Pinkerton Matchmaker series Nadine and Josiah were not happy to be married but Josiah did work to be sure she was trained. I enjoyed their interactions especially as coworkers in the saloon. This is a good story.
To be a female agent you must marry your co agent. What happens when he is killed? To be reassigned she must marry her brother in law. He has worked alone as an agent since he and his brother split. Can he marry his sister in law to find his brothers murderer?
Will this work? Can they actually find the men responsible? In the course of the story what can and does happen. This story is filled with action, drama and romance. You will not want to put it down!
A great Detective read that had me on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns. This is a real page turner and will take you on a roller coaster ride. The Author has done a fantastic job at the world building and creating the characters. This is definitely a page turner. Shauna Joesten
5 Golden Stars! This is a book filled to the brim with the solving of a murder by two Agents of the Pinkerton Agency, Nadine and Josiah. In order to work together they have to get married. The story is really well put together. It is refreshing and an easy and interesting read which I found totally entertaining. What I loved the most was when each of them suddenly realized that they had romantic feelings for the other. I so enjoyed this story and would welcome more in this vein from Jenna Brandt because she writes it so well! I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it.
When Nadine is confronted by her brother’s wife, she and Cora go head-to-head. Not being able to put up with this animosity between Cora and Nadine, Mark tells Nadine she must leave his house. She is devastated but leaves. She answers and ad in the paper and heads West. Mail-order bride??? I don’t think so. Great book by a great author. Will hold your attention through the whole thing. I read it in one sitting.
This is a book that hooks you on the first page! It is full of action, drama, suspense and romance. Grab a cup of hot cocoa, your favorite throw and settle in to read Nadine and Josiah's adventure. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Such a fun book with wonderful characters. This plot is really well written and there is so much to like about it. Reminds me of a western movie playing out between the pages. Great romance, action and a beautiful ending! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
She needs a job! And the Pinkerton’s are hiring women! YEAH. So she goes and gets the job - on one condition. She has to be married - to an agent!! UGH. But she REALLY needs a job . . . . I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
This was my 1st Pinkerton Agent novel and the book cover is lovely. I would rate Nadine 3.5 if it were possible because this was a interesting story with a wonderful premise; I just wasn’t totally captivated by the telling. That being said, readers preferring Entirely Clean romances with a touch of action, adventure, and suspense may love Nadine’s story.
Nadine applies and is accepted as a trainee Pinkerton Agent after suddenly finding herself an educated Massachusetts woman without a home or any means of support. Upon Nadine’s arrival in Denver, she is teamed with experienced agent Josiah Bell, whose brother, also a Pinkerton agent, is suspected of being killed by a criminal gang operating in TX. Nadine and Josiah are teamed up, quickly married (to protect Nadine’s reputation), and sent out from the Denver headquarters to identify and capture the men who killed Josiah’s brother.
I love the concept of women working as Pinkerton Agent’s. It opens the door for numerous suspense and intriguing plot possibilities. Unfortunately for me, Nadine’s story stalled a bit in the middle after the characters’ introduction and before the final conclusion. I do, however, recommend An Agent for Nadine to readers looking for a quick Clean read (2 hrs or so) with action, adventure, a little suspense with a touch of romance. I previously purchased 2 other titles in this series, because I am intrigued by the Pinkerton agent idea. I fully intend to read them. :)
An Agent for Nadine is an entirely Clean read - no sexual intimacy issues off or on scene; no profanity of any kind; no graphic violence. Nadine is an inspirational novel as it touches on releasing past hurts, forgiveness, and being open to love. It is appropriate for all audiences.
When Nadine's brother kicks her out, she decides to become a Pinkerton. Josiah returns to the Denver office to find out his brother has been murdered while on a case. Josiah is determined to find his brother's killer and finish his case, even if it means marrying his brother's widow. Poor Nadine has lost her own family, her training agent/husband and now she's forced to marry his brother in order to continue her training and track down her first husband's killer. They go undercover working at a Saloon. He deals cards and she cooks. Can they survive marriage long enough to find the killer and finish the case? Or will they be re-assigned? Usually, the girl gets hired in Denver and marries an agent there and off they go. But I liked how this story started with Nadine already being a widow to her first partner. It gave the story a bit of a fresh look. It would have been a bit weird marrying his brother's widow, even in a paper marriage. I thought the book was well done and interesting. A clean, sweet romance.
These Pinkerton Matchmaker books are short, clean, fun books. An Agent for Nadine is a favorite one for me. These characters just clicked for me. Nadine and Josiah want to apprehend the Wilkens gang and Avenge Amos' murder. Much to his surprise, Josiah finds out Nadine is a capable agent. Will they solve the case? Will Josiah avenge Amos' killing? Will Nadine be widowed a second time? There are many questions to be answered in this captivating book.
