Sharon Lane’s vivid fantasy life satisfies her raging libido. But when her sexy firefighter housemate Case Austin walks in on her in a compromising position and offers to make all her fantasies come true, Sharon has a chance to turn the imaginary into smokin’ hot reality.
An erotic story with a dash of body issue sensitivity.
Sharon has fantasized about her firefighter roommate, Case. And that was exactly what she was doing when Case walked in on her pleasing herself. Her fantasies become reality when Case offers to join in on the fun.
This is definitely not my usual genre of reading. But I had read several reviews talking about it dealing with body issues. That is something I have struggled with my whole life, so I felt called on to read it.
I wasn't expecting this to be very deep or anything, but it surprisingly addressed Sharon's low body self esteem in a sweet way. Case made sure to show Sharon how sexy she thought she was.
Beyond that, there were some things that bothered me. Crude language and dialogue. It was so blatant that I actually started to think of it as being silly or parody like. I am a self described prude, that is for sure. But I can usually get through sex scenes without negative reaction. Not so in this case. And it also bothered me that Case started calling Sharon 'baby' after only one roll in the hay.
Overall this was a short 10-ish minute read. I give it props for the unique inclusion of body issues.
I recommend this to those who like erotica, strap-ons, showers, roses, and cinnamon.
I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review.
If you're after a 15 minute read with faceless characters, this could be just the ticket.
I would've liked a little more character building, or at the very least, hints of age, appearance, hair colour, etc. I know one had gold flecks in her eyes, but that's about it.
I love a good erotic story, but I want to be able to envision the characters, to feel their passion.
And to be honest, introducing a flawed character, obsessed with her body image, in such a short read, was a buzz kill for me.
This is the first I've read from this author and I'd definitely read more by her, just perhaps not a short story.

Glancing at other reviews, I realised that this was going to be a short story. Luckily, I love short stories. Sharon is mortified when her housemate catches her um, indisposed. Case is a fit and strong firefighter and has been the subject of many of Sharon’s dreams.
I enjoyed how much information was encompassed in so few pages. The sex is steamy but also sensitive, especially around Sharon’s own body image. Their friendship is subtly implied as is Case’s understanding of Sharon. It’s a lovely, short, erotic piece although there could have been a little bit more definition around the ending.

Well, this is one steamy hot short story. “Hard Body” by Renee Roman is an erotic tale about two housemates, Sharon Lane and Case Austin. Sharon has fantasies involving Case who is a firefighter with the body to match. When Case walks in on Sharon taking advantage of those fantasies for a little self gratification, fantasies become reality in a hurry.
This story does what we expect erotic tales are supposed to do. It is hot, explicit, and easily read in one sitting. There is a little bit of story line in the tale, but it is mostly about these two discovering they are attracted to each other sexually and taking advantage of that. If you want an explicit, sex filled story for a short read with a lover or even by yourself, this might be a story for you.

This is an erotic read with a storyline that focuses on sex and more sex. Sharon Lane lacks a positive sense of self. Case Austin, knows who she is and offers to be helpful. Each women can have an uplifting impact on the other and walk away satisfied. Miss the detail and background of Sharon and Case other than being roommates.

This erotic short story was decent. What I liked. The sex was hot. What I didn't like. It bugged me that Sharon had such bad body issues and too much emphasis was placed on it. It took away from the hotness of the story. I wish that maybe the time spent on body issues could have been build on some details about Sharon and Case. I think the story would have been better. I am still going to give this one 3 stars for the hot sex.

This is the first book by this author I have read. At first, I didn't realise that it was a short story. I prefer full-length novels.
It was just an okay read for me. No better or worse than any other short story I have read. Sharon has a major crush on her Room mate Chase who is a sexy firefighter. Chase catches her doing naughty things to herself and when Chase joins her all her fantasies come true.
Not much background info on either character nor much of a story line. If you like short stories then this could be for you.
I received an ARC copy of the book from the Publisher via Netgalley.
There was no lead-in, no decent character descriptions, not much of a backstory, and no warning that these characters were about to jump right into some hot, wet sex. If you like jumping right into it then this is for you. I would have preferred to get to know the characters more first. I didn’t love the emphasis on body issues. At all. Maybe a little more info could have been provided as to why other than some failed morning-afters. Not my cup of tea.

This was really just an f/f Erotica short story, maybe like 15 pages long. It was absolutely fine but I have just read too much explicit fanfiction for this to really stand out 💁🏼♀️ And while I liked the idea of inserting body positivity into this, for me it does not work when it is so short. Body acceptance is a long process that does not just get solved by your partner telling you you're gorgeous.
An honest review thanks to NetGalley. This is a short erotic read, it was very good. I do wish for a little more character development and the self consciousness of one of the characters bothered me. How the story started did not mesh with her body issues that were brought to light pages after.
3 stars. Good writing but tonally this felt like two different stories in one. It gave me whiplash. I think the first half of it was good but then the second half was a bit annoying. Which sounds harsh to say but it honestly felt so disconnected. I don't know. I didn't hate this and I would check out something else by this author but this one left me annoyed by the end.
I’ve never read anything by Rene Roman that I didn’t like. Her stories are tight. Editing is always good. Read anything by her you can. You will not be disappointed.
I received this book as an Arc in exchange for an honest review from bold strokes books and Netgalley.
This was a good book, and it was erotica. If that isn't your genre, then don't pick this up, but you will be missing out. This book was so well done. Before this I don't think I have read much by Renee Roman, and the one I read was not my favorite, She completely redeemed herself with this one. It was everything you needed In a short erotic story.
This story is about two roommates. Case and Sharon. One evening while Sharon was home alone (or so she thought) Case comes in and finds her in a compromising position. Sharon is embarrassed and doesn't know what to do, especially since Case seems to totally be into what she is doing. Case proceeds to treat Sharon ton the night of her life. What this book does well is not in the lovemaking scenes but in the scenes that come before and after, Roman does a wonderful job is really getting into both characters insecurities in light of what happens. She makes you care about deeply about a person she has only written a few pages about. I thought the fact that Sharon was so raw with her feelings, but also incredibly brave with telling them to Case. I enjoyed how Case really was so sweet to Sharon, and gave her confidence and understanding without being too overbearing. There was a lot of vulnerability in this story, The ending was really well done, just the fact that Sharon started to feel accepted and believe that she was enough for Case just the way she is. Case made Sharon feel loved and uplifted her. I really enjoyed everything about this book.
Sharon has a crush on her housemate Case. They’ve been sharing a house for a while, so it is inevitable that the two of them would connect in a more intimate way.
This is an erotic story. One of the points of departure for Roman is that she doesn’t develop the characters initially and dumps us straight into a scene of erotic imaginings for the characters. It’s an unusual way to start the book and I can see from other reviews that it is unexpected. That said, I really liked it as a way to get us immediately into the action, rather than the often tedious and not very hot build up of many erotic short stories. Roman cuts to the chase and it is a fresh approach that I liked.
Sharon and Case are thinly enough drawn for us to place ourselves in the scenes, which can be one of the keys to erotic fiction, which is one way that the genre of erotica differentiates itself from other short fiction stories. Personally I would have liked a tiny bit more about the characters in there, but Roman doesn’t distract us from the main point of the book.
There are several erotic scenes well described, and if you’re into cunnilingus and dildo play that is respectful of all parties, then you’ll like this. The scenes are hot, the characters fun and it doesn’t outstay it's welcome. This is a well-written bit of lesbian erotica, and I cannot tell you how rarely I write that. Enjoy!

This short story from Renee Roman is an excellent quick read filled with really hot sex from page 1. Sharon Lane gets caught by her roommate Case Austin while pleasuring herself. Instead of being shocked or uncomfortable with the site before her, Case shares with Sharon that she had wanted to be with her for a long time. After a night of wonderful sex, Sharon wakes up with the fear that their friendship will come to an end and that Case will see her the way she sees herself, someone who is fat and not confident, someone she would not want to be with. Case goes on to show Sharon that she is exactly who she wants and has wanted for a long time.
I loved the hot sex scenes, which makes this a story I will come back to. The author left the story open at the end and I hope she will turn this into a longer series building on the couples' relationship, maybe looking at their past and how they got to this point. I felt for Sharon, who saw herself in such a negative way. I could relate to this feeling and the author did a great job of building those feelings in a very quick story.
Wow this was a hot and quick read. If you require a short story that combines hot steamy scenes with the character/emotions involved this was perfect for that. I am not a fan of stories that go straight into the action without any character/emotion as its just too 'in your face' for my liking. The author here has written very cleverly to ensure that me as the reader was invested in the story.
I much prefer M/F leads however this with two females leads really worked for me. I am keen to seek out other stories by the same author.
I very much enjoyed this story, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.
An erotica short story - 28 pages of sex with a little bit of introspection from the MC. Roman opens up with the main character getting caught (not that she was really trying to hide anything) in flagrante and it continues along the "I never thought it could happen to me" theme with her very accommodating firefighter/roommate. Roman does add a bit of a twist with having one of the character's lack of self esteem due to body image issues; but, there isn't really enough time to delve into this or develop a strong connection with either character. A quick hit that will while away some time while you wait in line (with your screen tilted away from any over-the-shoulder readers).
This is a really short read. I enjoyed this book because I honestly have never read anything like it. I’m so use to m/f never read a f/f book.
Sharon is super self conscious about her body. Her Fantasy Is to be under her sexy butch roommate Case and that becomes reality very quickly. She is trying to be ready to be kick to the curb per usual and Case is trying to show her just how sexy she is and how turned on Sharons body makes her. Case definitely has her ways ;) Good read and hot sex!
Ok, this is a really simple book to review. Sharon Lane likes to fantasize having sex with her fire fighter roommate, Case. She doesn’t feel comfortable with her body but when Case Austin finds Sharon pleasuring herself she decides it’s time to show Sharon just how desirable she is. So that is the whole so-so story. If you like exotic books without a plot this is the one for you. A quick read, probably won’t take you more than 10-15 minutes. ARC via NetGalley/Bold Stroke Books
I did not realize that this was a short story when I requested it from NetGalley so I was disappointed at the length. Roman did manage to pack a lot of story into 28 pages when Sharon's crush and roommate, fire fighter Case finally notices her as well. I wish we had gotten more of the story about their longing and glimpses of Case's feelings before this and maybe how the relationship grows but this was a pretty good story.
This short story is definitely hot, as a matter of fact, too hot. Loved it, however, I wish it was a bit longer to cover emotions and some background information about the main characters. Renee Roman is exceptional describing sex scenes, she does that very well. If you want to read a short erotica then this is the perfect read.
This one for me reminded me of those young adult novels where the main character doesn't know they are sexy. This very short 30 page titles uses sex and more sex to tell a full story. There is no backstory and no real character development at all. If you are looking for a quick story all about sex and body issues then check this one out.
I chose to read this book as an ARC. I appreciated being exposed to this genre as I otherwise wouldn't have given it another look. It was well written and filled with A LOT of steamy scenes. I wasn't expecting for it to be mostly about body insecurities and sex but that's pretty much all there is to it. It honestly wasn't bad but I am on the fence with recommending it.
So I read this in a matter of minutes. It’s definitely pretty hot, but I found myself slightly unsatisfied. I love a good erotic femme/butch scene and while this one fed straight into a few fantasies I think it being so short left me wanting the descriptions that usually gets my juices flowing.
This is the first book by Renee Roman that I have read, and there is no way on earth it will be the last! This is not only hot, hot, hot, hot, hot, it is full of emotion from both women. It is expressive of one's perception of not being good enough, and the other's desire to show her she is!
The writing was great, but there was no build up or really even a story. I wish that this story would have had a little more backstory. It would have enhanced the whole piece.
