The Pinkerton Matchmaker #55

An Agent for Danielle

Rate this book
Danielle Bradford comes to Denver, Colorado for one thing only: to destroy the Pinkerton Agency that has ripped her family apart. Her plan is thwarted when a mysterious man captures her in the act and she is given a choice. Either become a Pinkerton Agent or go to jail. When she sees the man who has her locked to an insufferable decision, she has no choice but to obey his royal command.

Pinkerton Agent Lucien Moreau is really Prince Akaba of the Dahomey Kingdom. Reuniting with Danielle Bradford is the best thing that has ever happened. He knows her special skills as a fighter will be useful to him as he tries to track his abducted twin sister, the princess Hangbe.

Together, Lucien and Danielle embark on the mission together to discover the whereabouts of the prince's sister. Under the veil of a marriage of convenience, Danielle learns that the abduction is not what it appears to be. Their journey takes them into the company of high government officials to the little town of Cañon City, Colorado.

When Lucien's life is endangered, she'll use every ounce of strength to protect him? But who will protect her heart from his devastating charm?

I did not enjoy this book at all.
Danielle is furious with the Pinkerton's for breaking up her family (Arielle, Brielle, Camille). Despite her father being heartbroken and dying, she leaves him to seek revenge on the Pinkerton establishment and bring her sisters home.....seems a bit strange.
Lucien has been an agent for a while but really he's a Prince of Dahomey. He met Danielle when she was 15 and has desired her ever since, despite her mother not allowing him to wed her. Now, his sister is missing and Lucien needs Danielle's help to find her. All of the places in the world, amazingly she's presumed to be in Colorado, where they both happen to be......convenient.
Undercover, Danielle needs to become his Protector even though she's never done that sort of work before... They had back to the estate from Danielle's book so the story isn't really new and exciting when we've been there before.
I thought the previous book (Camille, #54) was over the top but this takes the cake. A prince undercover in America but needing this girl as his bodyguard...
And the epilogue was just too much again.
I suggest reading other books in this series. There are so many excellent ones. I just can't seem to like any written by this author, sadly.

An unusual but good tale.
I was looking forward to reading Danielle’s story but this book was a bit off for me. Now that said the book is written well, there is drama and intrigue and it was a good tale. In this one, the hero is an arrogant prince who just happens to be in need of Danielle. Danielle, on the other hand, is not really fond of the Pinkerton’s yet is forced to become an agent. This book about the fourth Bradford sister was unusual but it was an interesting read. I liked the added notes from the author. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is my first time reading a Pinkerton book. While the storyline was very different, it was an interesting and intriguing tale and I very much enjoyed it. Both Danielle and Prince Akaba are strong and compelling characters which makes them perfect for each other and I enjoyed getting to know them through the course of the story. The author does a wonderful job of weaving a compelling story with drama, adventure and romance that flows very nicely through the end. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

The only thing Danielle wants to do is to destroy the Pinkerton office because her sisters all left her father to become a part of it. But she didn’t count to meet someone from her past. When Lucien meets again the woman he has desired from a young age he asks her help to find his twin sister. This is not what she wants but her previous behavior forced her to help him. This is the start of a great adventure but is it also the start of a HEA?
An arrogant hero, a strong heroine and a storyline that will keep you reading till the end.....then you can relax again.

Danielle was a fierce warrior in this book from the beginning when she was trying to find her sisters. She was a bit of a bull in a china shop going after the Marianne at the Pinkerton office without considering the consequences. Prince Akaba was arrogant, assuming that because he’s wanted her since he first saw her that he would one day have her. They marry in name only so she can act as a Pinkerton agent to search for his kidnapped twin sister. I didn’t see the end coming. The epilogue wraps up her sisters stories, but it is not necessary to read their individual books to understand.

Will the final Bradford sister fall?

Danielle arrives in a whirlwind of confrontation, confusion and chaos, she is by far the feistiest of the sisters, she holds nothing back, judges everyone, speaks before thinking and is very stubborn....but underneath all the fire and sass she has a heart of gold and once she commits, she is true to word....no matter what!
I enjoyed the verbal sparring and wordplay between these two and whilst Danielle seems spoilt and difficult to like at first, she quickly worms her way into your heart.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

This was a fairly quick read and very enjoyable. I've never heard of Dahomey before so it was interesting learning a little about this ancient place. Danielle is a strong woman but she's met her match in Prince Akaba. And they are perfect for each other. Love how this fits in with her sister's stories and just adds to it.

Threat of promise

Threatening Marianne isn't going to win Danielle any awards. Lucien takes care of it, but truly not before Archie about has apoplexy. Danielle interestingness Lucien for who he truly is and this sets off a series of events to find the Princes twin. Danielle does well to guard her Prince and his country against a foreign foe.

The fourth Bradford sister is unusual. She is fearless, capable and will go down in the annals of Pinkerton history for threatening Marianne and living through it. This book has more than a few twists and it is definitely worthwhile reading. Remember to read the author notes both before and after the story.

Always Historical and HEA

I love Parker Cole's books. She opens up the history of Africans in North America within her romances. I just love the relationship between the Hero and heroine and how strong the heroine is, without giving up her femininity. A wonderful engrossing book with excellent character development and dialogue that flows seamlessly.

There's love, romance, mystery and intrigue. Like the other books in the series, it's hard to stop reading once you start. The characters are fantastic and the story is well written. Can't wait to read more.

Beautifully done

I’ve enjoyed all the stories of the Bradford sisters. But this might be my favorite. Including the history of the Kingdom of Dahomey was a fascinating piece of the story. I’m looking forward to reading the last book about this family.

Love at first sight. That’s how it was for me and my husband. We knew we were met to be. I love the way they start realizing that they are truly meant to be.
