Jake is a Pinkerton agent madly in love with Lydia and it's their wedding day! When Jake left last night happy about the day he ran into trouble even bigger than he could handle. When he didn't show on wedding day Lydia is sure something terrible has happened, her family however thinks he is just a bum! Heartbroken even two years later she becomes a Pinkerton Agent. Guess who she is paired with.....
When Jake leaves Lydia at the altar it's not by choice. Not allowing her know he was alive was his choice. After two years Lydia becomes an agent. She becomes Lily and he becomes Jack and so they must marry to be an agent couple. They persue adventure and what I enjoyed most is that they not only rescued stolen money, but also three innocent people.
I enjoyed every moment of this delightful tale. It was so very good from beginning to ending. I especially liked the many different scenarios. Lydia and Make were made for each other. Hopefully Billy and Bell will be as happy as they are, Rachel deserves so much joy. Hopefully they can become their own series.
Five stars for this story. I enjoyed following Jake and Lydia 's journey into the outlaws camp. There they rescued three people, found the treasure and brought in two criminals for the reward. I loved the banter between Jake and Lydia.
Lydia and Jake are so in love, but fate deals them an unexpected wild card and Jake cannot see any way of keeping her safe. If only he had more confidence in this sassy, clever, witty, knife throwing wonder that he is engaged to! This is a dangerous mission but a sweet tale of a second chance for first love which I read on Kindle Unlimited.
I expected to enjoy a Caroline Clemmons book and I did. This book has humor, action and of course, romance. Lydia and Jake were meant for each other even if it takes a while to make it all come together. This is a fun book to read. We all need to have Lydia's tenacity and heart.
Great fast paced romance, although I thought Lydia let Jake off too easy. Interesting insight to the Hole-in-the-wall region. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and the action scenes.
Loved this story and the Pinkerton Matchmaker series! The adventure and comedic phrases were so funny and made the characters real and lively! - Babs on
I have to say that I enjoyed this story very much from the beginning until the end It is one of many stories by this author I have read It was a great adventure
This is one of my favorite Pinkerton stories. I loved the characters and it has just enough suspense. It also had the perfect ending. This is a sweet, clean romance.
Pinkerton ladies were new to the agency. When Lydia was stood up at the alter by a pinkerton man she loved. She wanted to find out what happened to Jake. She knew something had happened, but what? She joined the agency to find out the - answer from someone. Read this exciting rendition of their adventures. A fast paced read with lots of danger and suspence. I received this book as a gift and all words are strongly my own.
The story opens on the day before Lydia and Jake's wedding. On Jake's way home, he is brutally beaten. Not sure if he'll be an invalid the rest of his life plus fearing criminals may come after Lydia if they marry, Jake doesn't contact her or let her know why he's missed their wedding. So sad. 2 years later, Lydia decides to join the Pinkertons in hopes of finding out what happened to Jake. As she walks into Archie Gordon's office, there's Jake! They are sent to locate stole money from train robberies. This requires going undercover and living among criminals. I thought Lydia handled it well despite it seeming like a harder assignment. This story was interesting because the set-up was different from all the others. I liked how they were paired together and had to work together even though she was upset at him for not letting her know he was alive all that time. They made a cute couple. Don't miss reading this book. It was good. A clean read.
