If you've never experienced this unique, cute sci-fi romance about what it means to be human, now's your chance! One of the biggest hits from CLAMP, creators of xxxHOLiC and Magic Knight Rayearth, returns in a definitive, hardcover premium collector's edition, featuring a large size, premium paper, color pages, and more.
After moving from the countryside into the big city, poor college student Hideki Motosuwa finds himself down on his luck. All he wants is a good job, a girlfriend, and his very own "persocom" - the latest and greatest in humanoid computer technology. Hideki's luck changes one night when he finds Chi - an adorable, but seemingly broken, persocom thrown out in a pile of trash. After taking her home, Hideki discovers that Chi is more responsibility than he expected - and that there's much more to his cute new persocom than meets the eye.
CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.
Yumi the teenager is super annoying, and says Hideki is like a big brother to her since she has a crush on like a 35 year old man when she isn’t even out of high school, sigh.
The baker’s wife also used to be named Yumi, this causes some minor drama that does get resolved.
Tokyopop did a better job translating the funeral scene in my opinion. “don’t lump her in with the others, she is not an ‘it’”.
Zima and Dita get their reveal, they are Government persocoms, one designed to be the national data bank and the other designed to be the security system for it. Minoru’s persocom gets injured trying to hack Zima
The themes in this book carried over with Dragonfly and Minoru trying to confirm that Chi is a Chobits. With love and drama being the center of it with how people treat one another and misunderstand each other’s intentions and emotions.
Chi gets rings for her and Hideki. Hideki comes to realize that he does consider her a living being, at least he begins to acknowledge that his emotions are not the equivalent of caring for a toaster.

CLAMP did Yumi’s character so well. She represents the reader’s opinion of persocom’s and their relationship to humans. Naturally the reader would be more against humans having a close personal relationship with persocoms, but for the story to work the readers needs to root for Chi. Watching Yumi’s opinion slowly change to accepting and understanding personal relationships with persocoms causes the reader’s opinion to also change thus causing them to have more investment in Chi and her relationship with Hideki.
I’m worried about how this will all end. I have so many questions and it doesn’t seem like they will all be answered and everything will wrap nicely considering how much of the story is left.

It took forever for my library app to finally have this next volume available. It took so long that I kind of forgot how the last one ended. Anyways, it’s not Clamp without a noticeable age gap romance. It’s not Clamp without blatant and subtly blatant sexual undertones. It’s not Clamp without the stunning art and beautiful outfits. I literally had a printed picture taped to my wall back in the day of Chi in pink. Honestly, the emotions are there along with existentialism. I’m intrigued by the mystery. So, I’ll definitely read on. I’m curious so I’ll ignore certain questionable stuff. ~3.8/5
Chobits Volume 3 explores our favorite Baker's pass. It's tragic one where we learn about his wife and what she was and what happened to her. All of it was just sad as hell. I also really loved the relationship here with Chi and her trying her best to make everyone happy. She's adorable. Her past seems equally as sad, and I expect it to get worse here. Overall fantastic volume, and they do a great job linking what humanity is, real vs robot, and they do it really well.
If I know CLAMP I know the ending is gonna kill me one way or another.
I'm honestly surprised at how much I love this series. It's the one I've avoided the longest of CLAMP's popular catalogue since the way people have described it to me never seemed appealing. But this has been such an enjoyable ride. It depends on the ending, but this might be my 2nd favorite series of theirs.
I like how the side characters backstories are explained in this book and you get a feel for the world and how humans and robots co-exist. The internal conflicts in the two main characters I liked as well because it's very believable and likely that someone in that situation would think that.
Hideki and Minoru use all the tricks they know to find who kidnapped Chi. They’re sent a cryptic photo that turns out to be a map of a neighborhood of Tokyo, and the search leads them to the house of a user named Dragonfly who posts on the same forums as Minoru. He has Chi plugged into several other persocoms, but the attempt to break her defenses backfires, and he ends up strung up by wires. Hideki takes the man’s laptop persocom as proof that he kidnapped Chi, and Dragonfly becomes fairly cooperative. Hideki and Chi return to the bakery, and they are unknowingly followed and observed by Yumi, a girl who used to work there and was in love with the bakery’s owner, Ueda. After running away and being chased down by Hideki, she tearfully reveals that Ueda used fo be married to a persocom, and the thought of him comparing their relationships makes her distraught.

Really enjoyed how it’s continued the story and who Chi really is and is having Hideki figure out if persocoms can have real human emotions and the people can love them. It also has both of the mini computers and how they’re super cute, and have differing personalities. Enjoyed that they were in it a lot more. Curious to see what the landlord is hiding though…

The story keeps getting better and little by little it uncovers Chi's origins, I can't wait to get the full story. Plus, the theme about persocoms and human relationships is really cool, it gives the story a deeper meaning and makes you question a bunch of things.
Even though these are pretty thick books, I'm flying through them. I remember Chobits from a long time ago, so some things are new to my memory but some things I do remember. I can't wait to finish.
