I work for a NYC magazine, so you’d think my life would be fascinating, right? Notsomuch… until my girlfriends dared me to have a one-night-stand to celebrate my birthday to um, use a naughty gift they gave me. Hunky outdoorsman Sam Somebody from the bar was happy to oblige, and girl, it was a night to remember. I thought I’d never see him again, so imagine my surprise when he was the guest of my next morning editorial meeting—as the cover story. Can you say awkward?
(Here’s where things get weird.) When my boss became convinced our magazine had fallen under a “cover curse,” she sent me to Nowheresville, USA to man-sit Sam under the cover of a writing assignment. I’m trying to keep a professional distance, but he’s wearing me down. And since I’ve never been outside the city, my unmatched clumsiness might put Sam in more danger than anything else… meanwhile, I’m the one in real danger—of losing my heart.

USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
A little too much partying leaves Kenzie Mansfield in a bar picking up a cute guy for a one-night stand. She has never done anything like this before but figures she'll never see the guy again anyway. But the next day Sam Long shows up at her workplace as the next cover story for Personality magazine. Kenzie's boss is worried that he will be the next victim of the "cover curse" that is plaguing the last few people to grace the cover. She wants Kenzie to stick to Sam like glue for the next week that his cover is on the stands and make sure nothing bad happens. Kenzie doesn't believe in the curse, but she needs this job. She also doesn't know how she is going to keep her hands to herself while following Sam around night and day.
This is a cute contemporary romance told from Kenzie's point-of-view. I haven't found too many category romances that were written in the first-person POV, but it really works for this story. The heroine's inner thoughts about leaving the city for her first real visit to the country are hilarious. On top of that there are so many scenes that made me laugh out loud, I gave this book an extra 1/2 star. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
Girl struggling with job and career Money is always a problem when you have high fashion brand names as a must Then girl enjoys a one night stand And the story only gets better from there This book was hard to put down Need more like these 😋
I recommended The Body Movers series to a friend today. Cover Me is as quirky and funny as I expected. And, of course, the girl eventually got the guy. What more could I have wanted?
I love Stephanie Bond’s books. Her characters make me laugh and feel all kinds of emotions. I’m always excited to read what she writes. This book was a very good read I couldn’t put down.
