I’m a big Frog and Toad fan but unfortunately found this book kind of pointless. It was just a collection of short out-of-context quotes and illustrations from the books, paired with statements like “friends can be sweet,” “friends are honest,” etc.

In my opinion, because the book is missing the context of the full (although still VERY short original stories), it’s missing the essential charm that is Frog and Toad. For gifting purposes, I think you’d be better off buying one of the original children’s books featuring these characters, for a fraction of the price that this one is selling for.

FROG AND TOAD: A LITTLE BOOK OF BIG THOUGHTS is a great gifting book about friendship. The book contains some overarching lessons about friendship, such as "Friends tell you the truth... even when it's hard to hear," along with passages from Frog and Toad books. Each page also has the related illustrations and colored text in green for things said by or relating to Frog and brown for things said by or relating to Toad. Whether a fan of Frog and Toad or just looking for a great gift for a friend, this book is a fun choice.

What I loved: Each passage is a snippet of a story, but it is easy to take the message from each. Some of them are quite funny, while others are quite sweet. This collection is a really delightful read, and will definitely have readers wanting to go back to the original books. The illustrations and passages are really expertly chosen and connected by the overarching theme of friendship, presented through phrases accompanied by the passages and illustrations.

This book is really designed to be more of a gift than a book you would just read straight through, as there are snippets of story but no overarching plot. However, young readers will still enjoy reading through it.

Final verdict: Perfect for the friend and/or Frog and Toad fan in your life, this picture book is a charming collection about friendship.

If this was music it would be a greatest hits album, quotes from the first four books in the series under the theme of friendship.
Reminds you of the stories and they are nice quotes, but they really need the story to give them the context.
