About the author

David Koepp is an American screenwriter, director, and novelist whose work spans science fiction, action, crime, horror, and superhero films. He is particularly known for his long collaboration with Steven Spielberg, writing the screenplays for Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Disclosure Day. His other major screenwriting credits include Carlito's Way, Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Jurassic World Rebirth. Koepp has also directed seven feature films, including The Trigger Effect, Stir of Echoes, Secret Window, Ghost Town, Premium Rush, Mortdecai, and You Should Have Left. He created the television series Hack and received the Writers Guild of America East's Ian McClellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement in 2013. In 2019, Koepp made his fiction debut with Cold Storage, a science-fiction thriller. His second novel, Aurora, followed in 2022. Both novels have been developed for film, with Koepp involved as screenwriter. He has also written screenplays for Kimi, Presence, and Black Bag, collaborating with directors Steven Soderbergh and Steven Spielberg. His screenwriting career has made him one of Hollywood's most commercially successful writers, with his films earning billions of dollars at the U.S. box office. Alongside blockbuster productions, his work as a director has included smaller-scale thrillers and character-driven films, giving him experience across several areas of contemporary filmmaking.
