What I got from it:

1. Change doesn't have to take a long time, it can happen in an instant. All you need to change is convert your mindset from 'i should change' to 'i must change.' Associate extreme amounts of pain with not changing and create extreme amounts of joy with achieving that goal.

2. To get to the next level all you need to do is raise your standards. Demand more from yourself than what others could possibly expect from you. When you are outstanding there are plenty of rewards waiting for you, but being 'good' often doesn't get rewarded.

3. Get good at communicating with self. Don't say 'i can probably do this,' instead say 'I can definitely get this shit done!" Now there's better congruity between your actions/mindset.

4. If you aren't around as much as you'd like for the people you care about (ie your kids) it's especially important to be present. Help create moments for them (times in their life that they will remember). These moments will be different for different people. For example, one child might appreciate you spending the whole day with them going on different train rides/visiting a train store. For another child, giving them a standing ovation at a recital might be the greatest moment you could ever give them.

Insightful book. Buy it!

What my 👂 heard ⤵️

we should all over ourselves turn those sheds into musts
see it as it is just don't see it as worse than it is out of fear because you're afraid of being disappointed again
you have to have a compelling vision for what you want for your life
if you want to change your life there's only one way you have to raise your standards
change your unconscience limiting beliefs
change is a must stick with it because it's so rewarding
you can be a real good worker work really hard and still have nothing
95% of the population ends up dead broke or dead by 65
why they have low standards they don't have the right strategy
Curtis Winnie the world is forever terrible
motion is created by emotion
most people's lives are a direct reflection of the expectation of their peer group
what happens if a higher expectation then your peer group?
I have sad feelings I have hurt feelings I have frustration feelings but I don't live there
when you must you do
don't make life make you have to... you make the have to's
politicians don't determine the quality of your life... don't fall into the trance
so whether you're really happy today or sad today whether you feel like your life is a success or or a failure is not really whether your life is a success or a failure it's just what you communicate and what you communicate with certainty you believe.. and since you believe it you feel it... and whatever you feel that's your life..
nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it
people turn to drugs to try to change the way they feel because they don't change the way they communicate to themselves
thinking is nothing but the process of asking and answering questions
take massive action be afraid of fear
get happy quicker
the reason we don't change is because we think change equals pain but not changing is more painful than anything else
change is never a matter of ability it's always a matter of motivation. when someone has enough reasons they will flat change period but you got to gain enough leverage.
if you're overweight you're overweight because you don't give yourself enough pain for it you soften it. I tried everything nothing's work so I just got to adjust to this.... cut out the soft stuff and tell yourself the truth
most people live in a world that I call no Man's Land throw it a place where they're not really happy but they're not unhappy enough to do anything about it and that's the worst possible place you can be that's being in a rut
he uses the leverage of his money to be abusive to other people
now my pot is boiling
I'm confused searching every quadrant of my brain
success without fulfillment is failure
let me know if this clicks
my certainty is greater than your uncertainty
two things control your entire life we think about every moment what you feel what you do what you wear what you drive would you say to people how you react to Injustice and those two things are your beliefs and your values. it's the decisions that really shape you most. values are the emotional states that you believe are the most important free to either feel for you to avoid.

This is the first Tony Robinson presentation I've listened to.
His energy is absurdly contagious.
His clarity and there conviction in his speaking is out of this world.
It's a great motivator.
A passage where he talks about we are all a team and how he gave his daughter and friend front row seats to Madonna was a bit too much.

I especially liked the last part with about the humbleness and saying what I do is not difficult. I just know how to do it.
And I believe that.

Robbins' work is always a welcome reminder that, in order to achieve anything in life, you need to take "massive action". He offers a lot of inspiration and useful broad principles in that direction. However, his ideas often lack concretization - don't go in expecting precise details on how to achieve success practically. On the level of ideas, his philosophy is hampered by his focus on serving and impressing others rather than pursuing your own values (his concept of value is limited to emotional states), and his constant recourse to faith and God in his arguments. Nonetheless, a critical read of this book will turbocharge your inspiration if you have the discipline to apply its lessons in practise.

I actually listened to this on audiobook.

This is probably my favorite audiobook of all time. It's largely a recording of a live seminar Robbins did over a weekend. I'm going to return to it again and again. It's just so disarming and funny and wise. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Excellent book that focuses on internal values, beliefs, and identifies how to overcome pain and conditioning yourself to associate pleasure with actions that are normally associated with pain.

I listened to this because I stumbled upon a video of one of Tony’s masterclasses and was floored by the directness with which he approached people and their problems - not exactly the way a therapist would do it. I wanted to know more about how he came to this method. That question was not answered by this “book,” which was more of the same thing that I had seen on video. What he seems to have is the ability to do is to get people - very quickly - to that point which is necessary for change. The point at which a switch of some kind flips and they are committed. I think though that this is a one man show - there is something about his personality that cannot be replicated by copying his patterns. It has to be him.

I absolutely loved this. The whole week that I listened to it, I felt inspired and happy! And every time I had a small dilemma or difficulty come up in my life, it seemed like the next story or passage in this recording had the answer. I’ll probably listen to this again and again because it feels so good.

Notes:
Somewhere around ch 11 and definitely before chapter 16, he talks about Carly Simon(?) describing her stage fright/panic attacks and Bruce Springsteen describing the same thing as stage readiness. Just not as zingy language as I heard it before.

Less of an audio book than just a recording of his seminars, but maybe that makes it even more captivating and entertaining.

Tony Robbins is a devisive character and while I have mixed feelings about him and his teaching, his storytelling is incredible. He breaks down human behaviour into a set of simple levers (pain, pleasure, need for recognition, etc.) and tells stories from his decade long career to illustrate his points. Highly entertaining motivational boost for when you need it!

I loved that this audiobook was essentially all the best bits of UPW minus the marketing/upselling and extra filler crap/cultiness I didn't like from doing multiple Tony Robbins seminars over 2021-2022. One star taken away not for the fact that I had heard it all before, but because it was a bit too Americanised in my opinion and celebrity worship feel.

I am a big TR fans for over more than 20 years. This audiobook feels a bit outdated. TR is also more impacting when visual. The audio quality is not the best either. Nevertheless, if you aren’t acquainted with the work of TR and/or personal development, this might still be a good choice for you.

You will get some golden nuggets that are not covered in "Awaken the Giant Within," or "Unlimited Power." For example, Tony goes into the 6 Human Needs, and divides the first 4 into our personal needs, and the last 2 into our spiritual needs. He examines anchors but drops truth nuggets like "smell" is the most powerful anchor beyond word, feeling, or symbol anchors because our auditory system developed before our other sense systems fully develop so those wires run deep.

You will learn stories about Sylvester Stallone about using a re-approach strategy to obtain his goal and success, and Roy Disney about Walt Disney being a visionary. Also, how Tony gave back to a waiter in a restaurant that blossomed into something very special.

I think Tony Robbins has done a great job in anchoring himself, his brand, as a walking positive action taker. He is a great person to model, and this audio book helps anyone willing to make a decision to change, and more importantly, to take MASSIVE ACTION!

It’s a good book, and the audio version is especially nice because it’s like attending one of the seminars without shelling out for it.

The book gets a little cheesy at times, and sometimes he says odd stuff, which is why I think 4 stars. But 80% of the book is worthwhile.

Some people criticize because they say the content isn’t rocket science. I agree that the content isn’t full of eureka moments, but that’s not a fair standard to hold it to. What would it say about societal education if a book like this was offering a lot of eureka moments?

That said, I don’t think formal education systems emphasize ‘personal management’, so taking the time to think about how to get the most out of our lives is a healthy and worthwhile activity. I think our minds - what we think and what we decide - determine our quality of life. This book is about reinforcing awareness of certain self-leadership principles and feeding the mind with positivity and motivation.

I took notes while listening through it, and I expect to reference those notes regularly.

It’s one of Tony’s masterclasses — definitely worth a listen even if just to motivate you through a day or two. But that said, I’m not really sure Tony offers a tremendous amount im these programs that you can really use longterm. But some great stories, interesting ideas, and rather motivational at least in the short term. But I personally find pushing oneself to be in a peak state all the time to be demotivating in several ways, but the most intense one is how often I damage myself or waste time by pushing so hard through opposition. Sometimes the answer is to get upset, think it through, and go around. It’s also kind of hard to keep up when things don’t work out and get harder and harder and… So YMMV but if you’re super far from your goals, you need quite a bit more.

Pro: Powerful stuff that will help a lot of people! The format of being a recorded seminar is exactly what this book needs!

Con: This is a re-listen. I had heard the original recording many years ago and it changed my life. I wish I could give this more stars based on my past experiences, but he’s added some pseudo-science in this version and his trivialization of the causes of depression is likely, for many, highly offensive. (tl;dr - you only take anti-depressants because of your own beliefs that you can just…change).

While I love the message and what his early teaching did for me and my life, this version feels very snake-oil and self-aggrandizing.

This publication by Tony Robbins seemed to motivate his audience to develop positive thinking and transform their destiny. As an experienced businessman, Tony Robbins drew out from his experience and composed a publication which seemed quite helpful. The overall style and tone are quite motivating, and encouraging. It went into analysis of common problems that most people face. Overall, I think this publication is able to change most people's perspective, and develop themselves in a better way.

Mastery. This is what you experience with Anthony Robbins. His language and his ability to persuade people to really see the truth and the path they need to take to change their lives is absolutely phenomenal. In this book he demonstrates a number of NLP techniques that created his career and his massive success. Tony’s masterful encyclopedic knowledge of how to influence, manipulate, trigger, and adjust human emotions, human behavior, and energy states is something to behold. Five Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's no surprise why Tony Robbins is so successful. He has the energy, the voice and the knowledge to get you trapped and addicted to his words.

I listened to the audiobook and you just get engaged fast by Tony.

This is more a motivational book that makes you put action to specific topics that makes you a better human.

The final chapters were not that great as the first 3/4 of the book. It is just amazing how Tony speaks.

Worth a lot to listen to the audiobook instead of the text.

Honestly brilliant! I can totally see why Tony Robbins became such a successful self-help guru, life coach and business man. He has this amazing charisma and humour that just brings you in. I don’t agree with everything he said in this but about 95% of it I do and I found it incredibly helpful. This was interesting, insightful, hilarious, heartfelt, and oh so helpful. It made me laugh and cry multiple times and I wrote notes in my phone as I listened to it. Definitely would recommend!

I love Tony Robbins but this wasn't as good as what I thought it would be - more a collection of live snippets from his seminars rather than a well honed targeted book - some good things in it but lots of padding as well and flip flopped between a range of things. My fault for not reading the description properly.

I really liked it alot. Very motivational. I actually wish he had much more series like this one available for Audio. Rather than just like 5-10 minute videos here and there on his site and youtube. etc. Overall great. Love Tony, since I can't afford to attend one of his seminars, this is the next best thing.
