Love Logic #1

Rocket Science

Rate this book
Relationships aren’t rocket science. If they were, I might stand a chance of figuring one out.

Elijah
Saying I've had a crush on my best friend's older brother, Pax, most of my life is like saying the big bang was just an explosion. It's true, but I'm not sure that quite captures the essence of its true enormity.

I know he's only hanging out with me because I'm new in town and getting my PhD doesn't leave me with much time to make friends. And even if it did, my strength is mathematics, not friend-making. What I don't understand is why he kissed me... why he seems to want to keep kissing me. I don't think my advanced physics knowledge is going to help me figure this one out. But I think for once I'm okay with not knowing, as long as Pax and I don't know together.

Pax
He's still the awkward Nerdlet I remember...he's also probably the cutest, most tempting man I've laid eyes on. I know I should keep my hands off him, but this thing between us is like a force of nature. I want to be his first everything. He says we're nothing more than atoms crashing into each other. I'm no scientist but I don't think either of us are braced for the explosion.

**** Rocket Science is a stand-alone MM romance featuring an inexperienced nerd, a cocky player, and a satisfying HEA

A slightly dissenting opinion here, but while I enjoyed the story, I never got that feeling of, "OMG, these two absolutely *must* be together or the world is going to end", which is one of the things that I most adore when reading romances.

Nerdy, 22 y.o. Elijah had been obsessed with his best friend's older brother since the first moment he felt a tingling "down there", which only intensified the moment that he met up with Pax again in LA, where Elijah was attending graduate school.

Driven, 30 y.o. Pax fondly remembered his brother's best friend as a geeky "nerdlet" who always wore science pun t-shirts, so after being asked by his younger brother to keep an eye on Elijah, he was in no way prepared for the attraction that he felt upon their first meeting.

The book is one long internal argument from Pax saying, "I can't touch my brother's best friend" and Elijah knowing in his heart of hearts that there was zero chance that Pax would find him attractive enough for them to actually be together.

While reading, I continuously felt as though I'd read this story before, which was disappointing. I didn't really find anything unique or new in this retelling of the classic Brother's Best Friend trope.

Yes, I "mostly" enjoyed it, but I doubt I'll be able to recall many details in a week, so this one fell more into the "filler read" category for me, instead of something more memorable.

One thing that I could definitely have done without was the constant mentioning of Elijah's sweaty palms. Yuck. Just like with stanky feet or "swamp crotch", I reallllllly don't need to repeatedly hear about any of that mess.

3.0 *entertaining-but-ultimately-forgettable* stars.

Audiobook - 4 stars
Story - 3.85 stars nerdlet 🤓

The author and the narrator are new to me. I am glad it was a successful. The narrator has a deep low sexy voice.. He reads faster but i was ok with that.

I enjoyed the story, it was cute, funny, hot and angst free. All the characters were so likable. The MCs Elijah and Pax got mad chemistry. I loved them so much.

The writing was good. I will be checking out more of this author's books.

Recommended for when you are in the mood for a cute story.

3.5-3.75 Nerdlet Stars

Elijah was a socially awkward and a nerd. He was good at seeing a problem and find a solution. People didn’t make sense to him the way physics and numbers did.

Pax was Elijah’s best friend’s brother. He didn’t do relationships; he was a slut. But when his brother asked him to hang out with Elijah and do something to take him out of his apartment and introduce to some people something changed in him…

Told in dual POV, 1st person, it’s a standalone novel. this was my first read by this author and definitely won’t be my last. My only complaint was the lack of angst (it wasn’t even low on angst; it was angst-free). I liked both characters but sometimes Elijah’s insecurity was frustrating. It was an easy read and there are 8 years of age-gap between the MCs. Overall, I had a good time reading this and hope you enjoy it as well!

This didn't work for me at all. Elijah is kind of cute, but that's about it.

I can't stand Pax. I have no idea what Elijah sees in him. I don't like Alex nor any of Pax's friends.

Not a fan of the writing, either. There's no substance to the story. I don't enjoy whatever Elijah and Pax have going on here because I feel like I'm reading a sex manual. Also I've lost count on how many times Elijah pushed his glasses up his nose or wiped his sweaty palms on his jeans.

I know that many readers liked this, but I can't force myself to finish it.

That was a nice surprise! I have read some books by this author and they 've been hit or miss (mostly miss) but this one really hit the mark.

Lots of favorite tropes were done almost to perfection here, like...
-Best friend's older brother.
-Awkward nerd (glasses and all) vs big, outgoing jock.
-Virgin who wants to experiment and explore all kinds of things.
-F@ck buddies until feelings get in the way.

There is A LOT of sex in this book (smoking hot btw) and at some point I was afraid that was all there was. Fortunately, things got emotional in the second half of the book and it all felt pretty natural. I loved that there was some angst but no fake drama and that the MCs talked things over.

My one niggle is that it got weird with Theo (Pax's brother) at some point. He had feelings for Elijah but he's over it although it doesn't seem this way. I was expecting more resolution on that front or maybe some interacting after Elijah and Pax became a couple officially. I hope the author is saving this for another book. This has to be a series, right? RIGHT? So many great secondary characters are begging for a story.

The epilogue, 4 years down the road, was all kinds of adorable and real.

Recommended!

That was a surprise and in a totally great way.

I think I'd been expecting more pining or a bit more angsting but it was just a completely sweet and satisfyingly spicy romance.

Best friend's older brother is one of my fave tropes, throw in a nerdy but surprisingly needy virgin who gets quite filthy in all the best ways and an older guy who falls hard, and you get this excellent book.

The Epilogue is just brilliant.

This was such a cute read! I was in the mood for a fluffy book and this falling in love with the brother's best friend story was just adorable.

Pax is a bit of a manwhore. He travels a lot and loves to have a different man in his bed every night. When he gets a text from his brother asking him to check on his brother’s best friend who just moved there, Pax isn’t sure he wants to do it. He remembers Elijah as this awkward nerdy kid. But of course he can’t say no to his brother, so he sends Elijah a text.

Elijah just started his PhD in rocket science and if it’s up to him, he would forever stay in his apartment and study. That is until he receives a text from an unknown number. When he finds out it is his old crush Pax, he is panicking. Why did Theo ask his brother to check on him?

But the two go out for drinks one night and much to Pax’s surprise Elijah is hot now! He is still awkward, but Pax finds this incredibly endearing.

When Elijah confesses to Pax that he is a virgin in every way, Pax offers to help him with his flirting game. But when Pax suddenly kisses Elijah, Elijah isn’t sure what to think.

Pax has no idea why he kissed Elijah, except that he really wanted to. The two have become good friends in the last several weeks and Pax doesn’t want to screw that up, but he is also wildly attracted to the little nerdlet.

When Elijah tells Pax they can keep it casual and Elijah would like to experiment a bit, Pax is hesitant, but eventually agrees. Now Elijah needs to keep his feelings for Pax to himself, even though Pax is starting to have some feelings for Elijah himself…..

This was really sweet. Elijah was such a cute awkward nerd, and I loved how Pax constantly thought that Elijah was just adorable.

I was glad to see there wasn’t a lot of inner angst going on. I’m not always a fan of a friends-with-benefits situation in a book, because often one of them gets hurt while the other one keeps insisting it is just sex. But Pax was pretty sweet himself, and he didn’t want to hurt Elijah at all. So the transition from friends to friends-with-benefits to guys in love went quite smoothly.

Overall I really enjoyed this light story. It was fun, and cute, and just adorable all around.

Freaking adorable.
That’s what I’d call this.
One of the best books in the ‘light and fluffy’ category for me this year.

“Nerdlet” and virgin Elijah, a guy with a genius brain, a huge intellect and tons of social awkwardness has had a crush on his best friend’s brother since he’s been a teen. And now eight-year older Pax has been given the task to ‘socialise him’ in his new environment. Which turns into an experiment of showing Elijah 'the ropes’ in all departments.

They call it an experiment, with no strings attached, just a means for Elijah to learn and collect experience in the sex and hook-up game. Not exactly rocket science.
Right. We all know what’s going to happen here! And KM Neuhold does it fabulously and with a twinkle in the eye.

I adored all of Elijah’s firsts (dreamy sigh) and loved how he unravels und unsettles ‘slutty’ Pax with his ‘dirty innocence’. Three yeses to all of that!

There is maybe a tad too much sex for my liking, even though it is extremely hot and delicious.
But it was easy to root for these guys and their shenanigans, and the epilogue was just delightful.

A really cute book that made me smile.

4.5 Stars!

This one really worked for me. It had lots of things that I loved.

Best friend's older brother theme
Exploratory sex (very hot)
Nerdy MC
Likable secondary characters
Low angst

I really hope this becomes a series or we at least get some books on some of the side characters. Hudson and Bishop? Theo?

4.5 stars!

I absolutely adored this. My sophomore reading from this author went even better than the first one.

I adored Elijah and Pax's chemistry, I adored their scenes together, and their sex scenes were scorching.

I love the "best friend's brother" or "brother's best friend" trope, it's always so fun, and this didn't disappoint. Pax is Elijah's best friend's older brother, and Elijah has been crushing on him for about 10 years, although he hasn't seen him in years and years, seeing as Pax is about 8 years older than him and was already in college by the time Elijah and Theo (Elijah's bff) became friends (although in the beginning it made it seem like they were friends before they met in 6th grade and that Pax knew Elijah enough to remember him, but then it said that's when they met....when Pax would have already been off to college, so I was confused about that.)

When Elijah (or Einstein or Nerdlet, as Pax affectionally calls him) moves out to California away from New York to get his PhD (at 23 years old, which...crazy! Although the friends Elijah makes in the program is 18, so...even crazier!) and subsequently away from Theo, and Theo worries about Elijah enough to call Pax, who also lives out in California near Elijah, to hang out with Elijah and get him to socialize more and get out more, now that Theo isn't around.

Elijah was adorable, and Pax was great too. I liked how this didn't go the melodramatic route either - there was some tension and a little bit of drama, but it was actually talked over and not just avoided or miscommunicated like you see so much in these scenarios in romance books.

Pax is scared to be in a relationship because he's cheated on boyfriends in the past and just sucked at them in general. This doesn't excuse Pax, but I think part of it was just that he wasn't with people he cared about and loved enough to stay committed or treat right, or fully communicate with. Throughout this Pax was never actually tempted to be with anyone else as soon as he got with Elijah (even when it was "casual") which I think Pax should have payed more attention to.

One tiny gripe I have with this is that it introduces the fact that Theo used to be in love with Elijah (and Elijah is oblivious to it) and that Theo might have residual feelings. Nothing came of it, so I wonder why it was even there, unless it becomes a pretty big part of Theo's story, if he gets a story, that is. If not, then yeah, I didn't really see the point of it since the one time Theo mentioned something about his past feelings to Elijah, he waved it off and changed the subject, so what was the reason for the feelings? I dunno. *shrug*

But that little niggle didn't subtract from my love of this book, and I enjoyed it so so much. I loved these two together and I loved this story. Two big thumbs up from me!

I HIGHLY recommend it!

His cheeks flare red again, his lips puffy and damp from sucking on the banana; he looks like a fucking debauched angel, and it’s the hottest thing I’ve seen in my life.

There's nothing I can say much about this book other than this was what I needed to help me over my reading slump. It was the steamy hanky panky that kept me scrolling and the sweet soft moments that kept me reading it all night. Considering I was reading this book all night at my aunt's house and continued even en route back home says a good amount of the book and how it captivated me because I have been STRUGGLING with focusing even on the simplest of sentences.

Like he said, we’re nothing but atoms crashing into each other. But I have to admit, I’m starting to wonder if we’ll survive the inevitable explosion.

Anyways,

Reached my 150th 2021 Goal peeps!!! 🎉🎉🎉

→ And here's a not so epiphany moment,

People, on the other hand, rarely do what I expect. They say things that are different than what they mean, they laugh and tease, they lie. People don’t make sense the way physics and numbers do; they don’t even try to.

This is a very sexy, opposites-attract, friends-to-fuck-buddies-to-lovers story. There is little angst, and the epilogue presents us with a glowing HEA (even though Elijah is still insecure four years later).

I liked the dual, first-person POV. I just wish that Elijah had been slightly more confident and not afraid to express his feelings for Pax, and that Pax hadn't strung Elijah along for so damn long just because he didn't want to step on his brother's (Elijah's best friend) toes.

And the whole thing with Pax worrying he couldn't stay faithful? That worried me. This isn't the Revenge of the Body Snatchers; you're a damn adult and have control over your impulses, Pax. Just sayin'.

What I really want to know is when does the second Love Logic book come out? Because I want it now. I liked the secondary characters in Rocket Science, especially Theo, and would love to read their stories.

Okay so, I’m fairly alone here, but this one just didn’t do it for me. Honestly, I skipped through a lot in the middle.

The story basically goes like this:
Oh no I’m attracted to my brothers best friend/ oh No, I still have a crush on my best friends brother.
Sex, sex, sex.
I shouldn’t.
Sex, sex, sex.
I’m not good enough.
Sex, sex, sex.
I still shouldn’t.
Sex, sex, sex.
He is going to get bored of me.
Sex, sex, sex.
I shouldn’t but I’ll do it anyway.
Sex, sex, sex.
Sex, sex, sex.
Sex, sex, sex.
HEA.

The characters were flat and I actually didn’t care if they ended up together or not.

I LOVED THIS!

This might be my favorite story from this author! It just ticked all of my boxes - nerdy, awkward character, first times, best friend's older brother, sweet moments, genuinely funny moments, the whole "let's do casual - oops, we caught feels!" type of story. I just LOVED this.

Elijah is super smart, but not the best at flirting or relationships - and he's never had one, although he's had a seriously crush on his best friend's older brother, Paxton. Theo, who is Elijah's best friend, asks his brother - Pax, to befriend Elijah when he first moves to California.

What starts as friendship turns to more, turns into something casual and an attempt to give Elijah some flirting and hook-up skills. But neither wants anyone else, both want more than casual, but are too afraid to speak up.

Kyleen is always so great with the feels, and the sweetness to a story. There was that and also a whole lot of heat! I loved Elijah learning everything about sex, making new friends - seriously, Alex needs a story!, and Pax's friends need a story too. (Although I think we're going to get a seriously hot one between a certain foursome!!)

Seriously, can't wait for the next story from this author.

Adorable!

You really root for these guys to figure a way to make it work. I definitely want to read the other books in this series after reading this one. I thought it was unique that Neuhold switches POV throughout the chapters. This was my first read of a Neuhold book and I really enjoyed it! I’d been in a book slump after a Chara Croft binge, so this was a good transition back to my usual trope favs.

My life has been insane, out of control and seriously crazy the past few weeks or more and unfortunately, reviewing this book took a hit. I finished this almost a week ago but never wrote even a note about my thoughts. Aside from remembering that I enjoyed it, it was cute and seriously hot, I don’t have much of a review in me. I think the bestie/brother kind of getting thrown at us toward the end bothered me a bit but the rest I think was a ton of fun and my kind of story. I’m pretty much always a fan of the geeky guy storyline and this one did it really well with minimal angst.

I’m too old to wait this long to review a book, seriously. Haha!

Rocket Science by K.M. Neuhold was a fun best friend's older brother romance. It also has the "teaching the virgin how to flirt and hook up but then accidentally falling in love" trope which was well done here.

However, I found the best friend's older brother trope to be underutilized. I don't feel it really added much. Elijah has moved to a new town for his PhD program, away from his best friend. So, when he and Pax start hooking up, there's no real tension that they'll be caught until later on in the book.

Besides that, I really enjoyed Rocket Science. Elijah and Pax were a great match and had nice connection.

The other K.M. Neuhold books I've read have all been 3 stars for me, so I'm happy to have found one that I gave a higher rating!

I was looking for a light, low-angst, quick, sexy read and it's just what I got here. I'm also a sucker for a nerdy MC and Elijah was adorable. Pax is Elijah's best friend's older brother, who he has had a crush on for years. What starts out as Pax helping Elijah out in his new town, turns into a casual sexual exploration to help Elijah build confidence and experience. But we all know what happens after that.

I loved seeing Elijah come out of his shell, yet still retain his innocence. His character really made the story for me. He knocks Pax for a loop and even all his "I'm not relationship material" and "you deserve better" won't hold up for long.

This was an enjoyable story and I'll be looking forward to Bishop and Hudson's M/M/M/M story next and hopefully Theo and Alex's as well.

The story started out great but then came the phrase 'let's do casual'. I was still okay with the casual if it didn't look like Pax is dragging sweet Elijah along and he did so till the very end.

Things I liked about
1. The smut, we have hotttt and a lot of it.
2. Elijah is a sweetheart.

Niggles
1.In the start it's said that Pax has one boyfriend in college. Then later it's revealed he has cheated on many boyfriends. I mean cheated on many and you want me to beleive, he will not do it again???👿👿

2.To me it was difficult to believe on the genuinity of Pax's feelings for Elijah.

Overall, even though I enjoyed the relationship development and smut, there was not much else to like.

42% - A bit frustrating. Pax is hot and cold and it's making me angry. Plus am I the only one that doesn't feel the chemistry between these 2?

I got a bit over 1/2 way and then skipped to the final 3 chapters. I think I saved myself a lot of back-and-forth which would have aggravated me.

3.5 stars!! 💕Enjoyed it! 😁👍 The story was sweet, wildly-hot, romantic with no angst😍.. Nice break from all the angsty-action stories I have been reading lately. From the premise it seemed like a generic smart-nerd-falls-for-beefy-popular-older-guy type of story; but it was far from mundane and actually quite enjoyable despite the lack of angst.
Told from the POVs of the two MCs Elijah (22 yrs old, PhD scholar at CalTech.. the resident "Rocket Scientist"🤓) and Pax ("Hot" older brother of Elijah's best friend who lives and works in California as a successful Salesman) ; the story begins with Elijah moving to California and Pax getting recruited by his younger brother (Theo: Elijah's BFF) to be his guide in socializing. Elijah, having harbored a crush on Pax during his teen years is both shy and excited to get to hang out with Pax😍. To Pax's surprise, he can hardly recognize Elijah as a grown up😳 and feels immediately attracted to him. To top it all, Elijah is also a virgin🍒😉. But Pax also recognizes that since he's never been in a relationship, he's not the right person to start anything with Elijah. But the immense chemistry they share proves to be irresistible 😍and soon they can barely keep their hands off of each other 💞.
Nevertheless, can their relationship survive Pax's frequent travels for his work? How will Theo react to their relationship?
This is my first book by this author but I'm sure it won't be my last. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a sweet, romantic, sizzling-hot story 💕🔥💘😉. There are several supporting characters who deserve their own stories as well. I look forward to reading them. 😍.

Surely, love isn't rocket science. But sometimes it damn straight feels this way.

Rocket Science by K.M. Neuhold follows the story of Elijah and Paxton. Elijah is a nerd, has social anxiety, and isn't good at communicating with others.

"People don't make sense the way physics and numbers do; they don't even try to."

He moves to a new town for his Ph.D. The only problem is that he doesn't know anyone in this town. Elijah's best friend takes matters into his hands and asks his brother to hang out with him. When Elijah hears that, he is terrified. Certainly, there is no way his best friend's brother and the only guy he ever had a crush on would want to hang out with him, right?

Paxton remembers Elijah as an awkward guy obsessed with rockets and funny t-shirts. Hearing his brother's request, he decides to do it; it wouldn't cost him anything. But when Pax sees him... let's say nothing would have prepared him for the feelings Elijah would bring.

Slowly they form a friendship, and little after that, the lines of that friendship get blurred. On the one hand, Elijah is convinced Pax wouldn't want anything to do with someone like him. On the other Pax is convinced he is not boyfriend material. So how do these two end up together?

"Something tells me that even quantum mechanics theory would have difficulty explaining an eventuality where Paxton falls in love with me."

"We're nothing more than atoms crashing into each other."

These two were adorable together. The book contains funny, tender, sexy, and touching moments. If you need a funny yet exciting read, I recommend this one. After all, we all need a reminder that love isn't rocket science. Or is it?

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.75 stars

Oh, this book called to me right from that gorgeous cover, straight through geeky hero, and on into best friend’s brother. Basically, total catnip. And I am thrilled to say I absolutely adored this story. It is sexy and romantic and a lot of fun.

One of the things I love about a geeky hero trope is that mix of intelligence and social naiveté and that is Elijah completely. He is incredibly smart and capable academically, but very uncertain when it comes to social interaction. He just doesn’t fully understand people, especially when what they mean and what they say aren’t the same. There is a bit of Pax taking Elijah under his wing here, helping him to meet people and learn to socialize. But what starts off as Pax taking care of Elijah quickly turns into a real connection between them. While Pax can sometimes play the role of vapid sex fiend with his friends, with Elijah he lets his inner geek come out. It is easy to see just how much these guys really enjoy being together. The story is told in dual POV and I particularly liked the interplay as they frequently text one another, and there is just a nice combination of sweetness and fun here to go with the sexiness.
