Taming Hollywood's Baddest Boy

Rate this book
Do people say they hate someone’s guts so that they can still fall stupidly, head-over-heels in love with the other parts?
Asking for a friend.

Okay, fine. I’m not asking for a friend.

I’m asking for me—and I’m begging you to tell me that the practice of falling in love with your should-be-enemy is common.

Please tell me that I’m not the only person to track down a guy—who used to be Hollywood’s baddest bad boy before he left LA for good—at his off-the-grid cabin in Alaska, show up unannounced, and find him gloriously naked.

This probably happens all the time…right?

Tell me I’m not alone in my stupidity—that I’m not the only woman who would fall for gorgeous blue eyes and a sexy devilish smirk, even if they belong to a broody, mysterious jerk.

Please. Please. Please. Tell me I’m not alone in this.

For the love of everything, I need all the supportive girl power I can get if I’m going to convince Luca Weaver to come back to Hollywood—otherwise known as the place he hates so much that he ghosted Oscar-level success and escaped to no-man’s-land for the last eight years just to avoid it.

Yeah, don’t worry—that smoke you’re smelling isn’t your house catching fire as you read this…it’s just my career and what was previously known as my heart going up in flames.

Gah. Is it just me, or am I totally, completely, and utterly screwed?

Alaskan Adventure!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: 🤓☺️😳🤪🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Billie Harris - She travels via plane, foot, car and kayak to the Alaskan wilderness to find Hollywood’s former bad boy, Luca Weaver who disappeared from sight eight years ago. She ends up finding him looking like a naked lumberjack and an angry one at that. She thinks he is a “lumberjack fantasy come to life”.

The Hero: Luca Weaver - former child star and an Oscar winner by the age of 18, he was an A-list Hollywood hottie who broke box office records and was a wild one on and off the screen. He was dubbed Hollywood’s baddest boy and he left the limelight for a reason. Choosing to live alone deep in Alaska.

The Story: Billie is vying for a position as head assistant to Serena, one of the most powerful production company owners in all of Hollywood. She is in competition with a brown nosing weasel named Charles. She has worked as a PA on a movie with Serena but is hoping to be hired permanently. So when she ends up sitting next to a couple that seem to know where he is, she knows this is how to ingratiate herself with her boss. Especially since they have a high profile movie for which they need a male lead.

Narrated by Noelle Bridges & Aiden Snow, this book was told via dual points of view and dual narration. Noelle does a great job and I really like her voice, it is youthful and has a lot of emotion and sarcasm, which works perfectly for a Max Monroe romance. Aiden Snow does a great job as well though we don’t hear him till several chapters into the story. He has a deep smoky voice which I really like.

Luca is about the grumpiest man I have ever read about in a romance novel, and I do love a grumpy Hero. I won’t say why he left Hollywood as that would spoil the story, but I will tell you that I really liked him. This was a terrific Alaska adventure as well as a fun Hollywood story.

“I can’t believe I used to love you as a kid. You aren’t even broody or surly, you’re broody and surly’s evil stepbrother, awful!”

5 wonderful, amazing stars.

If you’re feeling sad or lonely and are in the mood for a pick-me-up, then look no further than Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy by Max Monroe. This duo of authors never fail to deliver in the laughs department, or the scorching chemistry and snarky banter.
It’s all here within these all too short pages. I say all too short because I just wanted to have more to read, feel and love, not because it’s a short story, lol. This is a full-length feature.
Billie has her sights set on being Hollywood’s next big producer- but first, she has to pay her dues. So, she’s PA to Serena Kootz, the current holder of that title she’s aiming for. Serena has a huge new screenplay and is looking for just the ‘right’ man to play the part.
Billie offers a name and Serena agrees.
There’s just a couple of problems. The man she suggested used to be known as Hollywood’s Baddest Boy, and contrary to what her boss believes, she doesn’t know him- or where he lives, other than Alaska.
So, Billie sets out to find the mysterious and aloof Luca Weaver. It’s a long, hazardous journey, but find him she does.
Luca never expected anyone to just walk into his backyard, especially when he’s naked, in a hot tub. He’s here alone for a reason, and no one. Not even the cute, sexy blonde with a sassy mouth is going to change that.
Trying to get rid of Billie is the most impossible job he’s faced, and failed at.
Billie is the very definition of tenacious. She’s feisty, smart, strong-willed and stubborn as the day is long.
Luca is broody, grumpy and as sexy as sin. He’s everything a Hollywood star should be, but so much more as well.
I loved the back and forth, the fast fall and the amazing coming together. This book will leave you with the biggest smile on your face. Another certain hit for Max and Monroe.

“You’re wearing booty shorts and UGGs in the Alaskan wilderness. Trash bags or not, you are the picture of absurdity.”

“I’m not scowling, you bastard. I am purposely giving you active bitch face.”
“I’m guessing that’s bad?”

**Synopsis:**
When Billie puts her foot in her mouth and promises her boss something she can’t deliver, she ends up in Alaska thanks to her persistence and determination. When she finally finds the elusive Hollywood actor she’s been searching for, he is none too happy……and naked. 🙂🍆🤩

~ ”I started this journey in a meeting in LA, promising my boss the world, continued it with a plane, a car, a hike and kayaking adventure in a cold, rainy Alaskan setting, and in a highly unanticipated twist, I’m ending it in what must be an issue of Playgirl magazine come to life. And boy oh boy is the centerfold pissed…
Standing beside a hot tub outside of a rustic Alaskan cabin is a bare-chested, handsome-as-hell lumberjack of a man, and he is as naked as the day he was born.”

“Who the fuck are you, and what the fuck are you doing here?”

The pissed off lumberjack is former Hollywood bad boy Luca Weaver, who has been off the grid for eight years. No one knows where he has been living, and he wants to keep it that way. He left Hollywood and he has no intentions of going back.

Billie has a screenplay in her hand and she believes Luca would be perfect for the role. And, her stubborn ass is not leaving Alaska until she can convince Luca he needs to come out of hibernation and grab this amazing chance.

~ “It takes some balls to bite off more than you can chew but still not give up.”

** The following are my thoughts about this book: **

* * I thought the chemistry this couple established in Alaska was good. Lots of snarky banter.

* * I love the stubborn, tenacious girl who finds a man that can smirk at her antics. Many times Luca held his tongue as Billie rambled on about whatever and he just looked at her with an endearing smile and smirked to himself. These types of characters are some of my favorites, so it was really easy for me to like Billie and Luca.

* * with all the references to “Country Roads” and West Virginia, I never really felt like Billie was a country girl at heart. So that was a bit of a disconnect for me.

* * I thought it odd and unbelievable that Luca would agree to take Billie on the 36 mile trip through Alaska. First, he couldn’t stand her. And second, it wasn’t something that she was even remotely prepared for. I understand they needed to spend time together, but maybe being stranded in a cabin during a blizzard would’ve been a better, and more believable, scenario.

* * insta-love…..it takes 10 days for them to fall in love.
~ ”Falling in love with someone in ten days is about as reasonable as a goddamn alligator in Iceland.”

* * I really like the relationship between Billie and her sister. I’ve added the sister’s book to my TBR and will hopefully get to it soon.

* * speaking of sisters, Luca‘s relationship with his sister was not resolved and I’m guessing there will be more to come on that in the next book, which features her love story.

**Overview:**
~ ”I was a man who was content to be isolated from the world. But then this pint-sized woman came barreling into my life with her cute country twang and her big green eyes and her fucking sassy persistence.”

- Content Warning: none
- Setting: Alaska
- POV: Dual POV
- Tropes: Hollywood actor

- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? No
- Did I cry? No, but I got a little teary-eyed when Luca did the thing at 88%. Melted my heart.
- Did I laugh? A bit. These authors have a good mix of humor in their stories. It wasn’t as funny as previous books I’ve read by this duo, but there were times I smiled at someone’s comments or thoughts.
- Did I swoon🥰? oh yes. What he did for her at 88% ❤❤️
- Cliffhanger? No

**Quotes**
“Do you do this often?”
He quirks a brow. “Do what?”
“Save uninvited guests from a fate of dying in the middle of the great Alaskan wilderness in icy waters and then berate them for handling it the wrong way?”

“Beauty is only skin-deep, but ugly goes straight to the bone.”

“My dick is a fucking traitor, but it’s hardly the first. Betraying, philandering cocks are pretty much the main dilemma of all men since the beginning of time.”

“I got you a little bit of everything.”
A little bit of everything? Ha. It looks like he hit up a complimentary Holiday Inn breakfast buffet. Any moment, I fear he’ll pull a waffle iron out of his back pocket and start pouring fucking batter into it.

“Fuck a duck, why is this reception shit? Have you switched your cell to a goddamn potato?”

“In order to eventually cross the finish line to destiny, you have to try to run in the right direction.”

“Don’t you get it, princess? You’re the game changer for me.

▪▪▪ It takes everything inside me not to push my nose into her hair and press a kiss to her forehead, and that’s when it really hits me. I am so— painfully, gravely, achingly, undeniably— fucked. ▪▪▪

Ahhh Max Monroe you've done it again. I absolutely freaking loved this book. I'm a simple girl really, I hear there's a new Max Monroe book and I'm like gimmie gimmie gimmie and boy this one did not disappoint at all. I am hereby officially claiming Luca Weaver as mine.. not even sorry about it.

Billie works as a production assistant to big Hollywood producer Serena Kootz. PA jobs in the movie industry are usually temporary but if she can impress her boss she is hoping to land a more permanent role as her right hand woman. While working on a new project she somehow accidentally promises her boss that she can get a celebrity to star in the movie who left Hollywood 8 years ago with no plans to ever return

Luca Weaver was once Hollywood's Bad Boy with an endless supply of alcohol, drugs, women and parties. With his life spiraling and no longer in his control he decides to leave it all behind and move to Alaska. 8 years of living life off the grid the last thing he expects to find is someone who wants to try and convince him to make a big hollywood comeback

This story was everything I didnt even know I wanted and so much more. It had the usual Max Monroe humor I love so much but it also had so much heart and I even found myself shedding a tear or two. It was witty, heart warming, sweet, adorable and incredibly steamy. The push and pull dynamic, hilarious banter, slow burn chemistry and passion between Billie and Luca was straight up FIRE. Luca was a grumpy and indifferent hero which is my favourite kind of hero and I swooned so hard for him. Billie was sassy, stubborn and determined, she is definitely one of my fav heroines ive read. I loved them both so much and once I started this story I could not put it down and enjoyed every minute of it

Taming Hollywood's Baddest Boy was a fun take on the enemies-to-lovers trope! Usually with that trope I feel like there's always a lot of drama and angst to drive the story along, but you won't find that here- it's definitely enemies-to-lovers light! Which, when it comes to Max Monroe, I wouldn't expect anything less.

Billie and Luca were such an entertaining couple! I wasn't sure about Luca there at the beginning, he was quite the grump and actually pretty mean. I could understand his frustration with Billie just showing up on his doorstep, but his meanness took a little getting used to. Luckily it didn't last long, as Billie's sunshiny nature was too much for him to resist. These two are the epitome of a sunshine/grumpy pairing and I enjoyed their love story so much.
I loved the first part of the book, when they were in the wilds of Alaska getting to know each other. Billie really is such a ray of sunshine, and I loved that she was from WV! Luca really grew on me as the book went on. I liked his persistence with Billie- he pushed, but knew when to pull back.

It's like we got 2 books in one with THBB- the time in Alaska and then the time in Hollywood. And we got to see 2 sides of both characters, but in opposite ways. Alaska showed us the more professional side of Billie, with some hints of her personal life, while with Luca we saw more of the real, down to earth man. Once we got to Hollywood, we were treated to the more vulnerable side of Billie and the professional side of Luca. I enjoyed getting to know all sides of these characters, and seeing them work through everything thrown their way.
This was a very delightful read. Luca and Billie were so charming, and really put a smile on my face. I know this is a standalone, but I'm hoping there's more to come in this world, I'd love to see Birdie get her own book!

These authors have become a favorite of mine. They are in my top picks when it comes to romance and this book is the prime example of why. It was perfect. It had the perfect mixture of everything. From humor to a little angst and drama and of course passion and heat.

I fell in love with the main characters from the start and couldn't help but cheer for them throughout the book.

I loved Billie, she was a hard worker, trying to make it big in Hollywood her dream to be a big-time producer, and even th0ugh some things seem to keep getting in her way, she would tackle them as they came her way. The thing is, she needed to find a former Hollywood bad boy Luca Weaver but she knows nothing about this man and he's been away from the scene for many years now.

Luca is nowhere to be seen when it comes to Hollywood. His life has changed completely and he is living up in Alaskan wildness, and now it's time for Billie to make a trip and try and convince him to come back to Hollywood. But can she convince him?

Luca and Billie were something, Billie was a very strong-willed, determined woman and when she wanted something she fights to get it. She doesn't take no for an answer and she's stubborn. I loved everything about her. Luca is kind of a homebody, he's not entirely removed from the world but he's not the Hollywood bad boy he once was. He's kind of bitter, jaded in away and he's meanish and he's not the man he once was or what Hollywood would remember him as. These two did not get along straight away... Luca was not impressed about being tracked down, landing Billie getting off on the wrong foot with him, he gives her a run for her money, which I loved. It's such a enemies to lovers feel and those are my favorites. These two were amazing as they formed a connection. The chemistry was off the charts and intense. I couldn't get enough.

Once again, these authors deliver a story that grabbed me from the beginning and held my attention until the end. I fell in love with Luca and Billie and I loved how the authors played these two out. It was perfect, but I expected nothing less from them!

5 ‘Lucky’ Stars!

Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy was such a fun read. It had all the things I love about a Max Monroe story. All the laughs and ridiculous banter, crazy chemistry and all the feels. Billie was a riot. Her dream job is to become a movie producer in Hollywood. She is currently working hard to prove to her boss she has what it takes. She can never back down from a challenge and crazily promises to deliver Luca Weaver. A famous actor who left the Hollywood scene for several years and has been living in Alaska! Billie sets off on quite the adventure to track down Luca. Oh my gosh I loved them! The hate to love vibe was strong from their first encounter. Luca can’t imagine what this city girl is doing invading his space but as Luca and Billie get to know each they start to fall for one another hard and fast. BUT Luca has left the Hollywood scene for a reason so Billie has her work cut out for her convincing him to return to Hollywood with her. I loved this book so much I had tears in my eyes from laughter more times than I could count. I adored all the antics, the chemistry and steam between these characters and of course a touch of angst. I did not put this book down once from the time I started until I finished. It is absolutely one of my all time favourite Max Monroe books. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Billie has big dreams. Dreams of being a big time Hollywood producer like her boss. So she will nail this new job - get gone off the grid former Hollywood bad boy, Luca, to come back from where he's been secluding himself, and star in her boss' movie. Um yeah...

Except she never planned on grumpster Luca to be naked when she first saw him, and she didn't count on the attraction that would flare up between them.

Nor did she count on what would happen if she actually completed her job...

Max Monroe can always be counted on to bring the fun, and the heat, and this time they brought something extra - lots of heart. Luca is a like a big onion with lots of layers. He causes a few tears, and he is a bit hard to take at first. But it's what lies underneath the layers that really makes this such a great story. I absolutely loved Taming Hollywood's Baddest Boy and Luca and Billie together. He's a grumpy mcgrumpster with a big heart and she's awesome - sweet, funny and sassy. Classic Max Monroe!

Me gustó mucho.

First off, I have to apologize to Max and Monroe. This review has sat unpublished for a week now...real life (in the way of COVID-19 and my job) has interfered big time with everything that doesn't involve a basic bodily function...and to be honest, it has interfered with some of those too. Sorry for that little TMI tidbit, but anyway, a big apology for the tardiness of me hitting the submit button, I'd gotten pulled away for a work-related phone call last weekend, and quiet honestly, I haven't even had time to open my home laptop since, so here is the review that has sat here...patiently waiting.

Oh, how I really enjoyed this one, let me count the ways!

1) A take no-BS heroine
2) A jerk-face alpha hero
3) A dog (seriously, it matters, people!)
4) A charismatic enemies-to-lovers story that truthfully had me laughing as often as it had me swooning
5) Did I mention it was hot yet?
6) A well thought out plot that just clicks
7) Spotify, baby, Spotify!

I don't even know what else I can say, but I'm me, so I'm going to ramble for a good 45 seconds here. The thing about a Max Monroe book is, you never know exactly what you're going to get...except that it will be a book that is sure to make you smile and characters that you want to live inside the pages and cross your fingers that they'd be friends with you. These authors have *it*, that spark, that je ne sais quoi that make an over 300 page novel feel like you've barely read a few sentences and all of the sudden you're sad because the journey is over and you're saying goodbye to these characters you've gotten attached to. Billie and Luca...I'm going to miss you!

To Max and Monroe, thank you for the opportunity to review this book, I loved it. 4.5 stars that I will round up for the goodreads scale system.

Am I surprised that Max Monroe did it again? No, not even a little bit. They’ve once again left me hooked and left me laughing uncontrollably. I loved this book and undoubtedly loved Luca Weaver to pieces.

Billie is everything driven. She works for a movie producer and is hoping to get a promotion. Determined to prove she has what it takes, she lies to her boss and tells her she can get Hollywood’s baddest boy, Luca Weaver to star in their latest movie. And now because of that lie, she must convince Luca to return to Hollywood.

Luca is Hollywood’s former baddest boy. For the past 8 years he’s been living in a remote part of Alaska. He doesn’t miss the life he once lived, he’d rather have the peace and tranquillity from the mountains surrounding him than the need and greed from Hollywood. And the last thing he expects to find is someone who wants to try and convince him to make a big Hollywood comeback.

Billie and Luca were the best. They were so different from each other, but at the same time so perfect for one another. Their banter was so fun, and I couldn’t stop smiling. Their chemistry was explosive, seriously they were fire. I couldn’t get enough of them.

Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy put the biggest smile on my face. Between Billie’s quirkiness and sassiness and Luca with his huge heart and broody nature, this book hit all the high points. This was such a feel good rom-com. I can’t wait for more from this dynamic duo.

Bad boy is awesome!

Luca was such a jerk at the beginning, but he eventually grew on me because he started to care for Billie. I knew I loved Luca when he said to himself 'And I take my responsibility for her safety seriously.' I loved Billie right from the beginning. I loved her spunk and her sass. She us a wonderful female main character.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. I also NEEDED this book. It took me away, I was able to crawl into another world and smile, laugh, feel, and cheer as I always do with a Max Monroe story. I loved the connection, the meet, the angst all of it. I SO wanted for both of these stubborn kids. If you are home, feeling anxious and want an escape. Read this book. I promise it will whisk you away and make you feel better if even just for a bit. xo

Max Monroe has been on my "to try" list of authors for years now. But I had never gotten around to reading a book by them. Taming Hollywood's Baddest Boy is my first one and I was blown away.

I was so impressed by not only the flow and plot of the story. I was also floored by the hilarity of the dialog. There were literally laugh out loud moments.

And the characters! Luca and Billie were great. Luca was so gruff and hard edged in the beginning but could also be so caring. Billie was a speak first and think later type of girl and it made for some good times. But she was also sassy and outrageous and just a great character to read about.

This book deserved all the stars. I am so very happy I finally got a chance to try this author duo out and can't wait to read more.

"Luca Weaver is a work of art"

Stop what you're doing and read this book! Oh man, Max Monroe have smashed it, Luca and Billie are everything! Their story made me laugh out loud with some amazing one-liners

"Shit, I’m in the presence of penis royalty, and I suddenly have the urge to curtsy."

Just when I think Max Monroe can't top themselves they bring their A-game once again and give us Taming Hollywood's Baddest Boy. This story had me laughing out loud while also tugging at my heartstrings. It's funny, emotional, and thoroughly entertaining. The settings, the characters....I loved everything about this enemies-to-lovers rom-com!

Billie was pure perfection. She's every girl just trying to follow her dreams. She's feisty, driven and hilariously awkward and I want her as my BFF! Seriously, she's such an awesome character and I felt a weird kinship with her for reasons I can't necessarily explain. Her meet-cute with the sexy as sin Luca had me giggling uncontrollably. This beast of a man was surprising in so many ways. Grouchy and growly, a spark was reignited in Luca as Billie knocked down his walls. I loved these two and their witty banter. I just couldn't stop laughing!

Max Monroe delivers another 5-star story that is sure to entertain even the most skeptical readers. This story has something for everyone so don't miss it!

5 SMOOCHES!

Max Monroe’s books make me happy. Imaginative plots, endearing characters and love stories that manage to both tug at my heart and make it race, this talented twosome hits the nail on the head for me every time. Hilarious and witty, full of laughter-inducing comedy, the humor in their stories is wildly entertaining. Theirs are the kind of stories that make you laugh out loud, snorting out your hilarity for all to hear, so keep that in mind if you plan on reading one of their books in public.

I loved everything about this fresh, creatively plotted rom com. Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy is a complete standalone, and I was immediately smitten with Billie and Luca. Billie, a down-to-earth girl from West Virginia, had big dreams and was working hard on chasing them. Unfortunately thanks to some goading from her nemesis, her ambitions got the best of her, and she wound up making an outrageous promise that was either going to be the coup of her career or the crash-and-burn moment.

Luca’s womanizing, hard-partying ways earned him the reputation not just as a Hollywood bad boy, but the Hollywood bad boy. That life was slowly killing him, though, and in a moment of self-preservation, he walked away from it all and never, ever looked back. Eight years later, he’s content in his quiet, simple life in Nowheresville, Alaska until a green-eyed goddess shows up uninvited on his doorstep to convince the reclusive former A-List actor that now was the time to make his grand Hollywood comeback.

Luca and Billie were as fiery as they were funny. Their banter, oh the absolutely fantastic banter, first began sharply between the two and gradually grew into flirty. I loved that build-up between them, and I was tap, tap, tapping my Kindle furiously to get to the moment when all those sparks were going to finally catch fire. The chemistry between them was just so deliciously combustible, and the fact that it thoroughly annoyed them both at first was even better. While this story definitely started out with an enemies-to-lovers vibe, I completely hooked well before this couple’s feelings flipped from adversarial to affectionate.

Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy was an addictive blend of sweet, sexy romance with plenty of that smiling ear-to-ear humor that I crave from this author. Light-hearted and an absolute pleasure to read, I devoured this book until my throat ached from my laughter, my cheeks burned with a blush and my heart soared at the tender happily ever after. Five smooches from me for Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy by Max Monroe!
