Tidak sadar, sampai akhirnya mampir ke laman Gramedia.com dan menemukan bahwa volume 96 sudah terbit! Untung hari ini libur dan bisa mampir ke toko buku untuk membeli. Pada edisi ini ada sedikit cerita tentang kawanan berbaju hitam dan sosok yang diduga adalah bos mereka. Ada Bourbon juga. Ada cerita sedikit hubungan pacar Yumi dan Suichi Akai! Ada cerita tentang Zero/Bourbon kecil. Ada banyak bocoran-bocoran yang menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan. Meski masih sedikit, makin tidak sabar melanjutkan. Satu hal yang menggelitik, Heiji ini benar-benar anak SMA yang galaunya tidak bisa ku ikuti lagi haha.

Lanjutan kasus pembunuhan polwan lalu lintas. Bisa ditebak, pelakunya adalah pelanggar lalu lintas yang dendam kepada polwan-polwan tersebut. Tapi siapa orangnya diantara para tersangka dan apa motifnya?
Btw, kalau kasusnya tentang polwan lalu lintas, pasti ada cerita tentang Detektif Chiba. Wah..wah..bagaimana perkembangan hubungan mereka ya?, hihihi
Kasus kedua adalah kasus si Kid Pencuri, horeeee. Kali ini Kid benar-benar harus berpikir keras karena banyak detektif hebat yang berkumpul untuk melawannya.
Di kasus ini, giliran perkembangan kisah cinta Hattori yang menjadi sorotan, hohoho.
Kasus ketiga adalah kasus pembunuhan seorang aktor di lokasi syuting TV drama. Di sini Makoto tidak sengaja terlibat. Dan, hei, sepertinya saya tahu siapa pembunuhnya, *sotoy mode on*. Tapi nanti kita lihat saja deh jawabannya di volume berikutnya, ahaha.

The Policewoman Killer Case continues, with Miike being attacked because her name sounds like the third person the killer has a grudge against. Conan and Chiba figure it out in time, and Chiba finally figures out where he met Miike before. The killer has a very understandable grudge, but because we can’t actually have the police be at fault in this series, it turns out he or she made a mistaken assumption.
We get another clue in the mystery of Rum, and Bourbon may be holding out on his masters.
Next up, Heiji and Kazuha are visiting Tokyo to help Conan with another possible heist by the phantom thief, Kaitou Kid. This time, the Kid is after the Fairy Lip, a large pearl of unusual beauty. It’s being put on exhibit by Sonoko’s uncle Kenichi, who couldn’t help but brag about his newest security arrangements.
The pearl is frozen inside a solid block of ice, plus all the usual measures to keep it safe. And to add to the difficulty level, it just so happens that Nagano police detective Takaaki Morofushi, the man nicknamed “Kong Ming” after the famous Chinese strategist (ya boy!) is also in town to pick up a letter from the Tokyo P.D. He’s up to the challenge!
Kaito Kid manages to get the pearl, but only after more suffering than usual. And since the challenge was the point, it’s soon off to the rightful owner. Morofushi’s letter seems to have something to do with his missing brother and someone called “Zero.”
The next case begins after Conan, Ran, Masumi, Sonoko and Sonoko’s martial arts champion boyfriend Makoto Kyougoku emerge from a showing of the latest “Amazers” (part of the Marble Cinematic Universe) superhero movie. They discuss the silly reason given for having local Japanese hero Kid Samurai join the team. Sonoko expresses a little disappointment that even though she’s currently hanging out with three tough martial artists (Makoto does karate, Ran is a local champion in the same sport, and Masumi is good at jeet kune do) there’s no chance she’ll get to see more action today.
Jinxed it! There’s a man in a motorcycle helmet holding a woman hostage. Makoto stomps him, only for it to be revealed to be a television shoot for police drama “Detective 48.” As an apology, Makoto winds up becoming the new stunt guy for the episode. Naturally, the rest of the gang winds up observing.
A particularly noxious actor known for cruel practical jokes winds up dead in a way that seems to implicate Makoto, but a second death puts that in question. Will Conan be able to unravel how the murders were done before the shooting day is over, and without tipping off Masumi to his true nature?
The writing and art as good as usual, and a much higher concentration of plot points mean these volumes are important for fans who are here for the myth arc.

Pleasantly surprised by this volume, which is always nice considering I’ve not been amused with the previous volumes.
The Policewomen Serial Murder Case was easily the highlight for me. After all that buildup with Miike and Chiba, we finally get the satisfaction of seeing them properly recognize each other, which felt long overdue in the best way. I also really liked how protective Shukichi was of Yumi.
What did lose me a bit, though, was Conan’s deduction about the serial killer and, especially, how he figured out where Miike was being held. I am sorry, but getting all that information from hearing taps of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” over the phone stretches my belief. At that point I was just less impressed.
It is also deeply funny to me that Jirokichi is still out here challenging Kaito Kid as though the previous attempts have not already made the situation abundantly clear. And everyone around him simply allows this. The amount of money that man must be spending on security alone could probably fund several more sensible hobbies.
We also get another connection involving Kong Ming, which definitely makes it feel like things are tightening. And with Sera now being so pushy with Conan, openly asking about Shinichi in front of everyone, it really does seem like we are edging closer to something big.

Anche in questo volume altri tasselli del puzzle si incastrano alla perfezione: non propriamente riguardo l’organizzazione ma personaggi che ne gravitano attorno.
1- Si capisce che Kuroda conosce la posizione di Amuro nell’Organizzazione, o almeno sa che è un agente infiltrato.
2- All’ispettore Takaaki Morofushi viene consegnata una lettera da parte di suo fratello Hiromitsu, amico di infanzia di Amuro, anche lui infiltrato in passato nell’ Organizzazione.
3- Sera inizia a mettere in dubbio l’identità di Conan e Shinichi interrogando proprio Ran; si viene a conoscenza che lo stesso farmaco è stato dato a sua madre con gli stessi risultati.
4- Ai racconta ai Detective Boys la storia dei suoi genitori, gli inventori della droga che poi verrà usata su Shinichi.
P.S. Fa sempre piacere rivedere Kaito Kid!

This long running series is often overlooked and, in my opinion, underrated. To be looking at an adventure that isn't close to ending and be on volume 96...usually you would say the series is called One Piece. But no, it's Detective Conan aka Case Closed in America! This volume jumps right into where we left off. I really love the conclusion to this first story...because it tied up a long-standing story arc dealing with the traffic cops. The next story deals with the Kaito Kid and his latest mission impossible job...to steal precious black pearls (fairy's lips) from a frozen block of ice (with surveillance of course!) Finally, Serena's boyfriend Makoto gets a job as a stuntman, but it quickly feels like a set up for taking the fall for a murder on set! This story does not conclude and promises more adventures in volume 97 of Case Closed!

Salah satu kebiasaan Aoyama Gosho-sensei yang bikin gemas adalah ketika satu misteri sudah terungkap, dia kemudian menambahkan misteri lainnya. Di volume 95, kita sudah melihat adanya titik terang dalam pertarungan melawan Organisasi Hitam. Kemudian di volume ini, misteri lain muncul, yaitu kemunculan sosok adik Inspektur Morofushi yang ternyata memiliki hubungan dengan Amuro, Date (senior Takagi), Matsuda (mantan partner Sato). Sepertinya, kalau hubungan antar tokoh di Detektif Conan dibuat menjadi grafik, akan sangat rumit.
Oh iya, setelah Shinichi dan Ran, di volume ini giliran pasangan Chiba dan Naeko yang berlayar! Yuhuu!!(/^^)/

Akhirnya terungkai juga kes pembunuhan bersiri terhadap pegawai polis wanita. Selepas itu Suzuki Museum telah mengadakan pameran mutiara bibir pari-pari untuk memerangkap Kaito Kid. Dalam waktu yang sama, Heiji kelihatan resah membayangkan keberanian Sinichi dan keupayaan dia untuk melakukan perkara yang sama!
Terakhir, Conan perlu mencari siapakah pelaku sebenar pembunuhan terhadap seorang pelakon lelaki dan penolong pengarah di set penggambaran.

Saya mulai jemu dengan kasus Kid yang polanya begitu-begitu saja. Pameran permata oleh keluarga Suzuki, penjagaan polisi, kekaguman Sonoko, Kid yang menyaru diantara petugas, dan permata tersebut ternyata bukan incaran Kid, lalu kembali ke tangan yang semestinya.
Tapi Detektif Conan adalah salah satu komik yang tidak pernah ingin saya lewatkan.
