Cynthia Baxter has always wanted to be a detective, and she's read enough mystery novels to be sure she's perfect for the task. She applies at the Denver office of the Pinkerton Detective Agency and is told she'll be contacted, but she doesn't hear from Agent Archibald Gordon until she's quite sure they've forgotten all about her. When she is finally summoned, she's ready to go, willing to do her part.
Agent Corbin Rawlings has devoted his life to his job at the Pinkerton agency, and marrying a new female agent so he can protect her on their case seems like just another part of the assignment. Until he meets her, that is, and realizes that she's not only going to be a useful partner, but a very desireable wife.
Things become more complex than they first imagined, though, when they learn that their current case ties into a mystery Corbin was never able to solve, and that their lives are in greater danger than they ever supposed.
Amelia C. Adams is a wife, a mother, and a novelist. She spends her days dreaming up stories and her nights writing them down. Her biggest hero is her husband, and you might just see bits and pieces of him as you read her novels.
She loves all things historical and enjoys learning about days gone by, but she's glad she was born more recently (she won't say how recently or not recently) because the Internet is awesome, and she's glad she doesn't have to wash her clothes by hand in a galvanized tub. She has hit Amazon bestseller status twice, once for A Clean Slate and once for A Clear Hope.

MY TAKE I've read several books in the series. It's a fun premise, and I've enjoyed each one. In this one case Cynthia, upon first meeting about-to-be husband, makes some less than positive assumptions about Corbin. As she gets to know him--and the circumstances which led him to be late for their wedding, she finds there's more to the man than she'd thought.
It's a case of insta-love, as most of these are, but it's one forged in the fire of danger and growing respect. Cynthia's much better at this than Corbin could have hope.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are well developed as well as likable. Cynthia is especially charming as well as being witty with a sharp mind. I can actually see her being a real Pinkerton detective. Corbin doesn't mind stepping back and letting Cynthia work her wiles on the bad guy to get what they need to put the criminals behind bars. I especially liked this character. It's nice to read about macho men who take charge but it's also refreshing to read about a man who will stand back if he knows the woman can get the job done. Very interesting story!
Another great addition to this entertaining series! This time Cynthia Baxter wants to become a Pinkerton Agent. She's read enough mystery stories and figured them out so she thought that would help her out. She did apply and patiently waited to be to be called and just about gave up, until Agent Gordan contacted her. She was matched up with Agent Corbin Rawlings, who is a seasoned agent. Of course when they meet it seems like it might just work out. An adventure as they begin to work their case, filled with a little mystery and some danger, but they are more in danger of the attraction that begins to bloom! Simply delightful!
A lover of mystery writing, Cynthia decided to try being a Pinkerton Agent, Archie approved her but then she didn't get called. Months later Cynthia was called in last minute for her assistance with Corbin. They married in the train platform just before the train left. Their initial meeting did not go as she expected however, as they worked through the problems, their life became very hazardous while trying to take down a supreme bad guy. Will they need a rescue or will they make it through the difficulties in their own?
Cynthia is excited, terrified, thrilled and frustrated all at the same time but she quickly realises she has misjudged Corbin and her feelings change again. This is a twisted tale of secrets, aliases and hidden identities but once again the Pinkertons don't fail to solve the case. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Cynthia loves reading mystery books and knows she would make a good one. Corbin sees marrying a female agent as part of the job. Things go awry shortly after they reach their destination. This book got intense, and fast. Will this couple be able to make it out alive?
I love how determined Cynthia is. For someone whose only experience with life comes from the books she’s read, she is very level-headed and adventurous. Amelia Adams has given us another delightful story of with humor, interesting characters and entertaining story line.
Truth about crime never changes, its always bad. Truth about love, it can hapen anywhere. Mix the two in this pinkerton series n with this book u have another great story about crime n love n detective work... keeps u waiting impatiently to start the next book when the rawlings take a few days off
I really liked Cynthia! So full of good ideas and can think and respond quickly. I believe she would be a good person to have by your side. Cobra is one lucky guy!!
Cynthia is serious about her new job as a Pinkerton Detective. But things are getting off to a rocky start with her new partner. Is he really a good agent to be training her? Corbin is injured after running down criminals from his past case but he's pushing himself to start this new assignment. They are trying to break up a ring that is giving new identities to criminals, in new towns. Can they work together after all? Will they be able to discover enough to bring the leaders to justice? This is a clean, sweet romance. It was a different case and a good book.
