A.J. Stewart has lived in so many places it feels like he has a home team in every game he sees. Which explains why his wife begins any sports telecast with "who are going for today?" A.J. and his family currently spend their time in Los Angeles and South Florida, but stay tuned, anything could happen.
Fans of Dick Francis are going to like this one. A jockey wins a race, but is dead of a heart attack when he crosses the finish line. Miami and Danielle happen to be there when it happens. An FDLE badge is an all access pass to all the action. When they start connecting the dots, they find more dots. Was there anything suspicious about the death? Turns out there was. More dots to connect. They finally do, though, and all the questions get answered. Even the ones the reader might have thought were insignificant. Another Awesome Miami Jones read!
Pretty typical Miami Jones mystery from Stewart. As the title indicates, this one deals with horse racing. MJ is drawn into the mystery when a jockey dies while riding the winning horse at Gulfstream Park in Miami. While MJ is still involved in the case, Danielle, his fiancee and FDLE officer, is also a major player in this book.
This 12th book in the Miami Jones series still has me hooked and I couldn’t put the book down. Who knew a fun day at the racetrack would land Danielle another case for the FDLE. A jockey dies while on the winning horse and things aren’t all they appear to be. So the two of them try to get to the bottom of it. The story is well thought out, full of twists and turns and typical Miami Jones dry wit. Miami’s been having a hard time dealing with moving away from Singer Island, his friends, work place and Longboard Kelly’s. But through helping Carol Martin, the jockey’s significant other, Miami comes to realize that home is anywhere that your friends and loved ones are. For him, that’s Danielle. Terrific job A. J. Stewart. Looking forward to the next one!
This #12 book in the series takes us on an adventure behind the scenes of thoroughbred breeding, training and racing. I am not a “horse person” but learning about this industry through Miami Jones’ eyes is interesting and entertaining. I feel like part of Miami Jones’ posse now. I can relate to all the regular characters and how they change and grow. Can’t wait to get started on the next one! This series is written by a man from a man’s perspective, but as a woman I truly enjoy the insights into the male psyche. A great read for anyone who likes a good crime mystery, a dash of romance and a dollop of humor.
A winning horse with a dead jockey at the finish line open a very strange case.
Great characters and plenty of twists as this deadly race track mystery changes from accidental death to murder. An excellent addition to the series as the world of thoroughbred racing opens up with an insight into what desperation can do to force sidestepping tight regulations and making payments to mob killers. Fascinating, page-turning, and well worth the time.
No horsing around: This was another great Miami Jones adventure. The only thing that would make the ongoing series better would be for Jones and Castle to move back to Singer Island where they REALLY belong, and for her to quit her state job and join a certain West Palm Beach PI agency, where she could do a lot more good for more people without so many restrictive and insane bureaucratic rules and prejudices. Some day ...
Miami Jones and Danielle Castle are back in this very entertaining story. MJ and Danielle travel from Miami to Palm Beach and on up to Marion County to try and solve a mysterious death. The story moves along at a good pace with just the right amount of local color. A fun read!
In the latest installment in the Miami Jones series, Jones has followed his girlfriend back to Miami, and they attend a Horse Race. The jockey that rode the winning horse died in the saddle and Jones and Danielle tried to save the jockey and they get drawn into a very Bizarre and interesting case.
This book takes Miami Jones and his significant other into the wor!d of horse racing. An interesting mystery with good characters. You should start at the beginning of the series and read all the books.
Miami again runs the track just like the great Jesse Owens did to find out that a horse will beat you every time just like Miami and Danielle ciao from costs Rica and stay safe
Another good book by A.J. Stewart with Miami Jones and his fiancee working together to help the girlfriend of the jockey that does at the end of the race.
Love the main characters but this book is all About quarter horses and racing and doping and such. I’ve enjoyed Stewart’s other books in the series more because they were centered around golf and pro baseball and football. On to the next!
A nice change to have Danielle working alongside Miami so to speak. They make a solid team. They take the time to think things through. And interact with real people in real situations. A nice change from blood and guts.
Miami and Danielle become involved in the mysterious death of a Thoroughbred jockey. We also see another instance of what a nice guy Miami is. A great story.
Life, murder, who done it, these books have it all. I like best the evolution of life from book one to book 12. The true life events are in-depth and thought provoking. I can’t wait to read the next book, excellent job..
I really like this series but now I feel Miami is sad without his friends. He has given up a lot for the girlfriend but seems lonely without his pals. Kind of meloncoly. Hope he moves back!
Love reading A.J.Stewart since I live in the area, it’s great reading about places I know. Great characters and always suspenseful . Always twists and turns . Looking forward to next book
I love reading Miami Jones. The best part in this book is q!lot takes place in Ocala where we live. I can just picture places mentioned, though not the real names. Get Miami married
