"Why do ya think we study history? It's so we can create a better future. Read all the books ya want...it won't make a difference unless you use what you learned to make things better."
I have some mixed feelings on this, but as a whole, I really really loved reading this!
I thought Alicia was an incredibly fun villainess and really really loved how hardworking she was! I thought it was a fun and heartfelt moment when she thinks about what the heroine would do in helping people and is like, "Wait, I can't let her beat me! I'll do something even better!" and she ends up doing something really great. I know the times she speaks as a villainess were hilarious and felt so bad for her Dad because of the horror that hit me as a mom when seeing what she was saying to the KING of all people! LOL!
All of that was really really fantastic! The mixed feelings came in because I was very uncomfortable with how intense one of the love interests stared at Alicia. She was either 7 or 8 at the time and he was 12, and he would intently watch her practice her swordsmanship. Not in a way where you are evaluating your "enemy's" fighting, but in a way of I-want-to-get-to-know-this-girl-better-because-I-like-her…
Now if I thought I was just overthinking the way he looked at her, then I do strongly feel the bonus story confirmed my feelings were right. I was willing to overlook the beginning because I was able to "justify" that he was just staring, but when Alicia gets feverish and is unable to take her medicine/drink water, (view spoiler). (Mind you she is STILL young but I do believe two years had passed so she was a LITTLE older, but not THAT much older.)
I confess I almost dropped the book right then and there because of how uncomfortable it made me. I realize that if they were both older it wouldn't be a problem, but for her to be so young is something I struggle to see any kind of romance in.
The only reason I kept reading is because again, I really really like Alicia! She is a super fun villainess to follow because all she wants to be is a villainess and cares nothing about the heroine. Even when the two are forced together she makes it known she doesn't want to do anything with her, so I liked that (especially since she wasn't being a bully, just incredibly blunt)!
I even really liked how Alicia wants to help those "underneath her status" and isn't afraid to call out the King and the way things are done because people are part of the nobility. That was awesome and really loved seeing how Alicia refused to give up or make excuses why she couldn't do things.
But that "romance" leaves me feeling deeply unsure if I'll continue reading or not. If it was just staring and then he made a move when she was older, okay, I could live with that, but with her so young, it doesn't sit right.
I think if what I shared directly above doesn't bother you, then this is definitely a villainess story I would recommend! I don't think a lot "happened" in this first volume, but it was fun and very engaging and I am interested in wanting to see what happens next!
This was great, until the "Harry Potter Don't-tell-the-MC-ANYthing-that-might-be-useful-for-them-to-know-so-they-can-make-intelligent-decisions-because-the-plot-needs-to-move-SOMEhow-because-the-writing-sure-isn't-doing-it" trope.
I'm sad, this actually started out well and was cute, but THEN, when the adults started to realize that the MC h was "speshul" and rather than tell her the truth and tell her to hide what was dangerous to come out so she wouldn't reveal that she was "DIVERGENT", they were going to just erase her memories when she overheard them talking. They ended up not doing so, because she misunderstood to whom they were referring. So SURPRISE, she ended up revealing she was "Divergent" because she didn't know it was something TO hide.
Also, they literally called her "Divergent", which, I'm sorry, is from a rather popular book trilogy and shouldn't be co-opted in another work. Find another term to use, don't steal it from somewhere else.
I'm even more over the not-telling-vital-info-to-the-MC trope than I am the obsessive MC H, so this is getting the lowest rating I can give it so I won't accidentally go an buy the next volume because I'm so desperate for ANY quality isekai manga/manhwa now.
1, if your plot needs to be pushed forward by denying the MCs vital information maybe heavily consider your plot and how to move it forward in a different way, stars.

I eat these up every time. Like EVERY time. I'm not joking.
What I love about this villainess isekai is that she WANTS to be the villainess. That she full-on tries to act like one, but really, doing so makes her more trustworthy than the OG female lead.
In like how it shows that just because someone acts like a villainess, it doesn't mean they are in the wrong. I just feel like this is such a fresh spin on the trope that HEAVILY relies on its plot and politics.

Sorry, this one isn't working out for me. 1) How can our villainess and heroine meet in school when there is a 5 year difference between them? At this point in the story our MC is 10 and the heroine is 15, thus already in school. By the time our MC hits 15 our heroine will be done with school and be 20. It just doesn't make any sense. Unless our MC suddenly goes to school early, but that is still weird for a 10-12 year old to be angry at a 15-17 year old and goes as far as bullying her/having a vengeance plot. 2) She tries to be a villainess... but seriously, she just isn't. 3) I am still not sure what her beef is with the heroine. 4) Prince Duke? *snorts*
But I did like that our MC, despite wanting to be a villainess was actually doing all the good stuff, haha. She tries so hard and instead she helps out people, tries to gain more knowledge, and more. Oh, and I liked the various levels for magic! That is fun, I would love to try those~
Half a star off because although Alicia obviously wants to be a villainess, she doesn't seem to try too hard at that until the end of the manga. Otherwise I really enjoyed this story!! Lots of fun characters and little peeks at romance. Plus humor and bizarre, ridiculous subplots. My kind of book!
I have only read three chapters so far, but I am really curious to see where this goes. I like that we are starting off with a strong female lead. Also, we are cheering for the darker skin male lead. (Hopefully, we can get more darker skinned female leads one day?)
it's not as good as the light novel, but it's still great! one thing that did sort of bug me though, was that Gill was so openly rude to Alicia at first. it's kinda nice seeing him be so sassy, but his whole thing in the novel was that he wouldn't talk to people he didn't know, so Alicia made him mad to get him talking in the first place. Then, later on, it's a big deal when he starts talking to Henri, because Gill doesn't talk to others so easily.

Entertaining and a fresh view at "Reincarnated as a Villainess" trope. The anime series is in the Fall 2024 season. "Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naru zo - I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History" I am looking forward to read the next manga volumes when Yen Press releases them in English translation. The translator for volume 1 is Sarah Moon.
This is an absolutely delightful story with a great cast.i can't wait to read more! At the time I'm reading this only a couple episodes of the anime have been released and so far the bonus chapter content in this volume were not in the anime, so new content!
Our protagonist, Alicia, is determined to be the greatest villaness in the history of vilanesses. But will her kind nature hinder or help her in her quest? I can't wait for the next book!
I actually did not intend on reading this, but just kept going... only six books are out, and the first one doesn't come out in English until next year? Arrgh. I will probably have to go watch the anime just because I am enjoying this.
I really like the FMC in this one. As unrealistic as it is, it also feels a little refreshing she's openly advertising to be a villainess but people can't help loving her regardless of that. 🤣
I absolutely adore this manga! A young girl who loved the villainess from a story and was reincarnated into said villainess and wants to live a life of villainry! It's super funny and adorable. It's nice to see a villainess route where the character actually genuinely wants to be a villain vs. feeling forced or trying to escape fate.
This is a bit of an odd duck of a book. Alicia is perilously close to being TSTL, so blindly caught up in her villainess dreams that she doesn't recognize either the danger she's in or the fact that she's the furthest thing from villainous. By the end, things are moving in an interesting direction, but Alicia is a lot to take, and I'm not sure how long I'll last with this series.
I love how her trying to be a villainess is not going exactly how she wants it to, but good for her being committed to the concept. I need the characters to hurry and grow up because one of the age differences is a teeny tiny bit weird, and throwing me off.
Can't wait to see what's going to happen next! Thank you Ize Press for the ARC! all thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I really want to read the light novel now. It's nice that we have someone who's reborn as a villainess who is NOT bad at studying and magic like other light novels, although she does possess the same obliviousness as the other characters when it comes to certain things (like she's not really a villainess, maybe an anti-heroine or someone who is morally gray to get the desired results).
