No Mercy is Book Two in The Deadly Intent by Cheyenne McCray. Belle never thought she would return to her hometown after running away as a young girl who did not know what to do after her mother's death and her stepfather started abusing her. However, Belle returned to her hometown when one of her childhood friends, Nate, part of their circle of seven, committed suicide. On arrival, she meets Dylan, her childhood sweetheart and finds out that Nate sent everyone a postcard with a strange message. Will Dylan and Belle rekindle their love and work out what Nate was trying to say? The readers of No Mercy will continue to follow Dylan and Belle to discover what happens.

No Mercy is another fantastic book by Cheyenne McCray. The author's writing style ensured I engaged with the Book and its characters. I enjoy the way Cheyenne McCray highlights the importance of friendship. I love her portrayal of her characters and the way they intertwine with each other. No Mercy is well-written and researched. I like Cheyenne McCray's description of the settings of No Mercy, which allowed me to imagine being part of the Book's plot.

The author of No Mercy ensures that readers understand the effects of domestic violence on families and communities. They will also learn that law enforcement officers bond with their colleagues and become a family.

I recommend this Book.

They called themselves CoS .... Circle of 7. They had grown up together, this motley crew. All had grown up to be successful in their own right.

One has committed suicide; at least that's what everyone is supposed to believe. Dylan Curtis, a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security found his friend Nate hanging. Battling through the pain, Dylan notifies the others that one of them is no more. The last call he makes is to Belle, his high school sweetheart, the one who ran away as a young teenager and has stayed away for 20 years.

Nate was involved in something .... and he mailed postcards to each member of the circle before he died. Now it's up to Dylan and Belle to decipher all the clues which point to Nate's killer.
There are secrets and lies among the group. One knows much more than the others...and stays silent. Then another member is killed. And although Dylan and Belle are reconnecting, Belle has a secret .. and Dylan may never want to see her again. Who has a grudge against this group and Why are they being murdered, one right after the other?

I like a bit of spice and heat when I read Romantic Suspense. The author does a great job of balancing her books with explicit romance and a spellbinding mystery. Both add a great deal to the total storyline. The characters are finely drawn and I enjoy seeing them woven into all 4 books in this particular series. After all, who doesn't like a sexy cop who also happens to be a cowboy? Not me....

M/F Mystery
Triggers: Suicide, Murder, Rape, Emotional Abuse
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is the first story that I have read in this series. The story is fast paced and well developed. I really liked the fact that the characters had more elaborate back stories, but that you didn't feel like you were ever playing catch up. McCray did a good job at keeping the reader caught up, without it feeling like you were reading history.

Belle is running. She's running from her past and her present. When her good friend dies suddenly, she has to come back to a small town that she hates, but to the people whom she loves. It's a hard concept for her to get around - coming back to a place she despises and missing those people who she loves, but has neglected to keep in contact with.

Dylan is trying to figure out why his friend took his own life. Nate was one of the friends that he kept in contact with and there was no indication that Nate was suicidal. Dylan's job makes him suspicious of the circumstances, but with all of their friends coming together, he has other things to worry about... He's about to see Belle again.

Together, Belle and Dylan figure out their past and hash out what happened. They are also on the run from some mystery person who is intent on killing everyone in their close circle of friends. With two more deaths among their circle of seven friends, Dylan and Belle have to work closely, in order to figure out who's out to get them.

Amidst all of the chaos that is surrounding them, Dylan fights again for Belle and solves her past so that they can move forward together. They rekindle the romance and relationship that once was torn apart - which was why I didn't give it quite 5 stars - their relationship started where they left off, almost back to instalove. I think that they needed more time to resolve their past.

Overall, this was a good mystery, if not predictable, but a good story regardless.

Okay, let's start with the cover that is for certain to cause widespread covergasm!!! I have a thing for a well-defined arm, and this is just so......ahem....on to the story.

Although No Mercy is the second in the Lawmen series, it can be read as a stand-alone book.

I am addicted to Romantic Suspense, and this book fed my addiction perfectly! Action, mystery, murder, and of course love.

Belle & Dylan's story goes back to their teen years. As a part of the "Circle of Seven" they were not only best of friends but, they became lovers too. Until a family members death, petty jealously, and a misunderstanding sent them on separate paths in life. They come together again years later when a member of the " COS" mysteriously dies. Can they get past all that separated them years ago? Can Dylan discover the truth before it's too late? Will Belle's secret drive them further apart?

Once I picked up the book I could not put it down. This story kept me on the edge of my seat throughout it's entirety. Cheyenne McCray tells a fantastic story, and as always keeps me looking for more.

Really enjoyed this story, was hooked from the very beginning and didn't want to put it down when it came time to do things like dress or eat!! and can't wait to read Trace and Christie's story next. This one is definitely worth a read, and even though it's part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone.

Contemporary small town romance with some seriously damaged people that grew up together and everything explodes into death threats, beatings and murder when one of the 'Circle of Seven' friends returns home after many years away.
Belle is back in town. She is running into her childhood besties because Nate has died and they are going to figure out what really happened. Belle and Dylan are the main couple, but there is three different stories unfolding at the same time which makes fore a LOT of plot and twisty plot turns.
This is NOT a fluff romance story, there is domestic abuse, child abuse and rape as well as murder so please be in the right frame of mind when you jump in to this crazy fictional world.

I am loving this series. It is jam packed with suspense, danger, action, conspiracies and some steamy moments. Love the chemistry between Dylan and Belle.

I do not understand why Dylan did just let all his friends take a picture of their card and send it to him the minute he realised they all got one qnd why he didn't explore his friend's book earlier.

Salvatore and the Jimenez Cartel is a ruthless bunch and I suspect they will be for the entire series.
Their characters are deadly and not likeable but they being excitement to the story so they serve their purpose.

Another brilliantly written story that will keep you hanging on to every page.

This narration is not as good as the book but it was ok.

Exciting read!!

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author has given us an action packed story with lots of interesting characters. I felt the heroine was brave, smart, and strong; and who doesn't like a sexy lawman in a cowboy hat and boots? I do need to let other readers know that this book does touch on the subject of abuse and rape for those with triggers. If you like action stories with mystery than you will want to check this book out. I also felt this book could be read as a standalone.

A really good idea and story, but parts missed the mark for me. I think Belle could have been a little brighter, especially with all she had been through. Other than that, it was really good and I look forward to the rest of the series.

***A gifted copy was provided by the author for an honest review***

This is a story that is about murder, second chances at love and things you want to do over to make them right finally . And who best can give that kind of story to you than Cheyenne McCray.

20 years ago Belle ran away from her group of friends, and her boyfriend, the boy she loved, the man she was going to marry because she was being sexually and physically abused by him. She knew if she told Dylan, she would murder her step father. So she ran…and left everyone behind. Fast forward 20 years to Dylan , who is now in law enforcement , who comes upon the scene of the death, supposedly the suicide of the of their friends- the group of friends who all went by the “Circle of Seven’. Dylan is devastated. He cant believe that his friend would take his own life. His friend was someone who would never take his own life. Dylan starts probing the death. In the meantime, everyone else of is part of the COS( circle of seven), starts getting a post card from the dead man and some sort of cryptic message.

Belle , who is living in another state, gets the phone call that their friend is dead, is asked to come for the funeral. She come back and is face to face is Dylan for the first time in 20 years. Memories come back and all of a sudden, its like they were never parted. But when it does come out that their friend was really murdered and one by one, the Circle of Seven friends are being murdered, it’s a race of time to prevent Belle’s death and to find out who is the murderer and to make sure that Dylan and Belle get a second chance at happiness.

This was an engaging read. I couldn’t put my Kindle down. I was on the edge of my seat and there were twists that I didn’t see coming until it was right there. The ending was extremely satisfying and I hope to read more in this Circle of Seven group. Fantastic Read!

Contemporary Romantic Suspense

Bisbee, Arizona

Belle ran away over twenty years ago when she was just a teenager. She ran from everything just to escape her abusive stepfather. Left behind was a circle of friends that were like family and the boy she loved, all of whom she had known since her childhood.

Now she is back years later after the death of one of her close friends. It also brings her face to face to the boy she left behind. Only now he is a man and no longer a boy.

Dylan never got over Belle leaving years ago. Nate, one of their Circle of Seven friends, dies which draws Belle and Dylan together again. Dylan soon realizes he now has a second chance to make Belle his.

Belle had a second reason for leaving Dylan, a reason that just might destroy any chance at a future with him. It is a secret that hangs over her as she falls in love with Dylan all over again.

Now a dangerous drug cartel is targeting the Circle of Seven friends. Dylan is going to need to use his contacts and his federal law enforcement training to stay one step ahead of the danger. Nate left behind clues and Dylan needs to solve the puzzle before they all end up dead.

This is the second book in a series that is proving to be very addictive. While each book can be read as a standalone readers will find reading them a lot more enjoyable when they are read in order. This one picks up a little while after the first one left off. This proves to be a story that will have readers wondering just how this is going to turn out for everyone. It will also have them wanting to read the next book in the series right away. This is proving to be series that readers will want to read and get addicted to.

I am absolutely hooked on romantic suspense again thanks to Cheyenne McCray!! This is her second book in her Lawmen series and I can't wait for more!

Note: While No Mercy is a part of her Lawmen series, it is because of the continuation of the actions of the Jimenez Cartel and the work of the DHS. This book can be read entirely as a stand alone novel and you'll be completely fine, characters from the previous book don't randomly pop up, the plot with the cartel is recapped briefly from book one so you aren't lost.

So this book is about Dylan and Belle, friends an lovers from the past, brought together again after tragedy strikes their close group of friends. Dylan and Belle belong to a group of friend call the Circle of Seven (CoS), seven friends that came together from different walks of life and stuck it out with each other. When Nate, a member of the CoS, commits what appears to be suicide the friends are brought back together.

Dylan is a member of law enforcement and starts to investigate the death of Nate. When Belle arrives back in town for Nate's memorial, old flames are reunited and sparks start to fly! But it's not all a walk in the park for Belle & Dylan, members of the CoS are being targeted due to Nate's last actions.

As the action heats up so do the sparks between Dylan & Belle!

This book kept me on the edge of my seat! You know who the bad guy is and how the whole thing is connected early on, but man does Cheyenne create compelling bad guys! I just loved knowing, it in no way detracted from how the story played out, if anything it completely fed into it! I am so hooked on the Lawmen series and can't wait for the next one to come out!

I enjoyed this book and the characters. It's a great second chance love story. I agree with one of the other reviewers that this could be a stand alone book. There was not much mentioned of the previous book but for a couple of names and the bombing of the station.
A group of friends (Circle of Seven) are brought back together after the suicide death of one of the members, Nate. Over the years they've grown apart but the strength of their friendship is still strong. Nate and Dylan have stayed the closest in the last twenty some years and it falls to him to make the calls to the CoS. All come back to town for Nate's memorial including Dylan's long lost love Belle. Who ran away never to return leaving Dylan with a broken heart that's never been mended. Terrible things start to happen to the CoS members and Nate's suicide is looking more and more like murder. Can Dylan and Belle figure out what's going on before all is lost and there won't be a chance for them to be together again?

The reign of the Drug Cartel from book 1 continues in Book 2 in this Lawmen Series. This time, they are after the Circle of Seven- a group of friends from grade school that have stayed in touch for over the years. Well, all but Belle, as she disappeared after high school and only recently started to re-connect with her former pals. With a death of one of the seven, Belle returns to her hometown, a town that holds bad memories of an abusive father and bittersweet memories of her first love, that she left without a word. Dylan is now in Homeland Security and fighting the drug war. Having Belle back in town and in his life, has taken him off his game. This story has a mystery puzzle to solve, and a race against time,as the Circle of Seven goes from 7 to 6 to 5- who will be left? I was disappointed there was no mention of Tori and Landon from book 1, as I always like an update of the couples from the Series.

#2 in the Lawmen Series. Another member of Federal Law Enforcement in Arizona, Dylan Curtis has been working in the law as a result of his father's murder. This is one of the very twisted threads that bring together a group of childhood friends. They called themselves the Circle of Seven and their number is being diminished, one by one. Someone is killing the members and Dylan is determined to solve the mystery and to save his friends. He has been in love with another member, Belle Hartford, since their school days. He is determined to win her back and never let her away from his side again. They need to eliminate this threat first.

There is a thread here tying the friends to the fist book of the series, Hidden Prey. Twists and turns and good suspense make you want to see the next installment. Slow Burn is a novella, part of the "Cowboys Last All Night" anthology.

Seven inseparable friends grew up as the Circle of Seven, until Belle ran away as a teen. She left her boyfriend, Dylan, devastated. Fast forward 23 years, and one of the seven, Nate, is found dead. Murdered? Belle finally returns "home" for his funeral, and sees Dylan again. They've never gotten over each other.

Nate had sent mysterious post cards to the circle before he died. Was he trying to tell them all something?

When another member of the circle is murdered, they're all in danger and the race is on to find the killer. Dylan, a Special Agent with DHS, is involved with the case.

Belle and Dylan rekindle their flame, but Belle is hiding a secret from Dylan. When she tells him, will he turn on her?

This was a good suspense story with a hunky cowboy/lawman. It's also a sweet second chance story. You're rooting for Dylan and Belle the whole way through.

Recommended.

The second book in the Lawmen series by Cheyenne McCray. Dylan Curtis, a DHS agent, is at the scene of his friend, Nate's apparent suicide. Now he has to inform the group, CoS (Circle of Seven), the bad news. The CoS is a group of friends who were friends since elementary school. One of the group, Belle Hartford, left suddenly when they were still in high school. Nate's death brings Belle back to her friends and high school sweetheart, Dylan Curtis.

Belle has a secret that made her leave her hometown and friends twenty years before but she is back now and ready to face her demons. But soon the bad guys are gunning for the members of CoS and Dylan takes it on himself to protect his love.

It was a spicy little read that worked. Lots of action and suspense and romance blended in a favorable manner. It was a good addition to the series.
